TONYE001:

Exactly!

It is unlikely that a certified doc would recommend CS when there is no clear reason. Patients do not understand a lot of things that go down...and I blame the docs, in part. Most docs just prescribe and recommend treatment protocols without appropriately explaining to the patient WHY. To argue in the favour of docs, the workload makes this tough...as everyone wants to shorten consultation time and see the next patient.

Otherwise, if it's at the hospital where the wife had her ANC, delivery options and complication preparedness is a discussion that is initiated by the provider from the first day...the booking visit, infact...each visit, the books recommend that the doc takes the patient through this discussion...again, and again.

Once an indication for CS is identified, the doc must have told them long before delivery...unless it's an emergency CS....Still, the doc would have prepared them for possible emergencies.

Let's just thank God things didn't go bad.

Nigerian's refuse operations alot despite medical advice. Religious brainwashing and unrealistic optimism

Even saw a case years back of a lady refusing C.S that a pastor said that if she did C.S, she would die. When the labour wanted to kill her, she opted for the C.S and she did not die

The patient always has a story. The doctor always has their own version

Sometimes one is correct and the other is not. A lot happens in hospitals and there is a lot of wear and tear, transfer of aggression, grumbling due to lack of money to pay for drugs and treatments, poor pay commensurate to work load, unhappiness by people that they are ill, work stress by medical staff

It is multi faceted

About the Guy who declined C.S for his wife, You and your wife were not just lucky things didn't go South

In practice, some of the patients a health workers sometimes is putting extra effort for tends to very rude and snappy and sarcastic.
It's painful but doctors and nurses are not the causes of people's health problems. You don't fight a mechanic because a car that You have been using got spoilt on the road. You don't fight a food seller because You are hungry.
Some Nigerian patients come to the hospital and behave rude to people they want to care for them. Everybody has limits.

Let's ensure Nigerians are responsible. You take a loan, you play!
The average Nigerian will look like a cute little puppy when begging you for money. But when it is time to pay, they turn to tigers!
Most Nigerians once you lend them money they assume they have used your head.
That op is not telling the story as it is. He should pay, people like that make things difficult for others cos they make interest high due to high default rate.
The other day government ie cbn complained about the anchor borrowers scheme. Despite the low interest rate, the moratorium, the extention of time for payments, beneficiaries have failed to pay.
CBN says it is considering publishing the names of borrowers in national dailies!

Come and see o! A particular loan app in this Nigeria has been threatening me over a loan that isn’t due, out of 6 instalments I’ve paid 3 and now just some hours after the 3rd instalment is to be paid they’ve started sending me threatening messages and even had the guts to contact people on my contact list that I’m late on my payment. This is so wrong!!

So in July I took out a loan of 150k to pay back in 6 months, they gave me their rules and how I’ll pay it (make I no even talk the big interest rate way dem give me, that one one na topic for anoda day). After confirming my loan on the 2nd of July, it took 4 days for the money to reflect in my account after many stories and mails to them. Can you imagine that these guys have been debiting me on the 2nd of every month claiming that’s when my loan was approved and it’s from my end there was a delay. That’s so unprofessional and mean! I’ve tried to speak with someone on their end but nothing…they’re just speaking English. I don’t know how to report them. Now they’re threatening me even though they’re the ones at wrong.

Most of these loan companies don't care about you or your reputation o. They will promise you heaven & earth everything join with sweet words, they will trick you with social media ads only to lure you in and torture you.

I just tire. I’m soooo pained that I even had to take a loan in the first place and this is what they’re putting a customer through. Na only to dey dirty people name them sabi all these loan apps are one kind and maybe even fraudulent cause not only is their interest rates too high, they shouldn’t be allowed to threaten people at all even if they’ve missed a payment date; it’s just wrong. Is this how all loan apps are? What can I do? I heard FairMoney and some other loan apps are better?

Must You take a loan knowing the records and antecedents of this loan apps in this 21st century. Must You go and meet them for money. You saw hot water with crocodile and shark. You went and jumped in . What then did You expect
Romance / Re: Can a graduate like me marry a financially stable illiterate woman? Please help by Laird(m): 8:27am On Nov 30, 2021
@Op I see a case of 2 deceivers

1) You went for her because of her financial status of course knowing she likely skims money off her job as a cashier( I might be wrong) and that she was not what You wanted and You still had another nurse chick who is now in the UK and You were coordinating both babes based on the economic and social value you could .get from each one. Oshay Mr coordinator. You can't get a rich, fine, younger educated lady if You are not in that league or above her.

2) The Girl too knew your motives but is still played along because she wants to get married and having some element of money from her office hustle and knowing that biology and age and her not so educated status would not allow her get a rich, fine, handsome, professional ( do you think that she does not like better thing) She settled for You based on what she could get and forged her age and likely behaviour and pretence to like school to get You as You are the only likely prospect given her situation

Conclusion; You guys are both deceiving yourselves. Just return all she gave You and You guys knock everything. if You marry her, You won't be happy. You are both involved in emotional deceit.
Romance / Re: The Knack That Hunted Me For Years.. by Laird(m): 10:49am On Nov 22, 2021
Crossroad1:
Told her I couldn't get a woman pregnant as my doctor once told me I have watery sperm..
It was a lot of wahala going back and forth.
There was a day she vowed never to leave my door mouth and while I was trying to push her away so I could close my door, she held onto my john Thomas and that idiot is so sensitive to touch of a woman. So we end up dragging each other inside as she won't let go and we end up knacking from evening till morning.. She has this irresistible body...
So we talked about the pregnancy and I told her it wasn't for me..
She said I should give her money to abort it and I told her can't give her money to kill a foetus as I wasn't even the owner in the first place..
She left angrily and told me I will regret it..
True to her threat, me wey dey good standing before, my gp come dey shake..
I was relieved off my class rep title and I started having series of problem and night mare.. When it was becoming unbearable, I went to church, being a white garment person..
Na from church dem tell me say I Don knack agbako..
I went to where she was staying and learnt she left for Akwa ibom already..
She called me during one night like that and I was hearing alot of voices, like occultic voices and she keep repeating the "you go suffer words"...
Have actually been to Akwa ibom twice..
The first time was to go see her and seek for forgiveness cos I really suffer back then in school, I was even almost rusticated..
If some people could remember vividly the time Oloyede expelled some final year engineering students he tagged cultists for reading at the back of ELT back then, it was immediately I left them after a brief explanation one of them did for me that the incident happened..
Omo mhen, my eyes see pepper no be small..
She wasn't actually pregnant but she wanted us to be an issue back then which I know will distract my education..

When I went for service, I no Sabi as I take jam am one time for market.. She saw me and dodge and she end up trailing me to my apartment..
It was 3yrs + after and she now made alot od sense.. Full option everything but knowing what I went through, I bind and cast her ni..
She even told me not to worry that she won't get pregnant that I have nothing to be afraid of...
I no gree o.
Each time I remember this story, I come dey fear women like mad but no way no way, all die na still die as we no get option than to yansh them but this time with serious caution

Op I am a guy but it serves you right. You went to met a girl that was on her own and collected her number and started deceiving and lying to her that You would make her a successful model if she sleeps with You.
Why didn't You just tell her that You wanted No strings attached sex. You are lucky you didn't die.

kepstone:
Nlanders, i am i a situation that i dont even know what to do.
So i was in church i met this pretty matured damsel came to church for the first time, i saw her and my spirit connected to her and it was instant attraction. We both look at each other always and we know some chemistry is between us. its been 3 months now i cant stop thinking about her, although i promised myself that i wont fall in love again due to my last experience and have been single for over a year now.
Well i eventually collected the girls number and we just clicked from first conversation till date. We practically talk or chat each passing dey and we are so closed but she has a serious relationship. She said lets just be friends and the situation surrounding her relationship is serious as wedding is already in view. She is everything i really desired in a woman and she just awesome and unique, each passing day i talk with her it melts my heart and she keeps vibes with me. I told her my feelings for her she just said let the will of God be done between us. I keep thinking about her at work, at home, she lights my day when i hear her voice we joke, we play we connect and we bond. My heart and intentions towards her are pure and genuine. Honestly i cried this morning after a long time that i found someone i loved and we connect but i cant have because she is in a serious relationship.
How best do i handle this, should i just fight this feeling, kill the feeling, i know if we continue like this she might eventually fall for me, many things are going through my mind. Maybe i should just forget her and let her be and wish her all the best. The guy is truly a lucky guy to have her. If she is on Nairaland and reading this i am not ashamed to tell you i love and need you in my life. Just that i wished i had met you much more earlier and i wont have let you go at all.
Need your candid advice please.

She is keeping You as plan B

Career / Re: Oghenero Ozobeme: TOTAL Sacked Me While Battling Brain Surgery, Disability by Laird(m): 8:07pm On Sep 19, 2021
There are 2 sides to every story

A lot of Nigerians lie and use the hospital to cover up. An oil company worker abused Me even using vulgar language on Me for refusing to give him one week excuse duty he asked for when he had no serious complaint and he had already collected 2 days excuse duty and another 3 days excuse duty before he saw Me and he had no serious complaint saying he can't analyse well and needs a week to rest( someone that drove himself to he hospital and analysed Lagos traffic) and he is a desk worker. He still shamelessly came back to collect another 3rd excuse duty from another doctor who indulged him despite my documentation
Some also do not want to work most times and use a little or not so severe ailment or Chronic ailment to justify long term work absenteeism and still want the Company to be paying them salaries and the hospital to be covering them with spurious sick leave .
Somebody was not admitted and did no surgery and wants sicks leave for a long time. Another was admitted and bill.picked up by Company' funds or company paid insurance plan and the person still doesn't want to go back to work but wants long term excuse duty.
Some would come to the hospital and start asking for controlled drugs to be given indiscriminately. Some would skip work for some days then rush to the hospital days laterter to make a flimsy complaint and then start asking for a backdated excuse duty for the past days he or she skipped work on his or her own decision , not a doctor's decision.

It's a jungle out there in the healthcare space in Nigeria. A lot of patients lie and spread false rumours to play victim but when they are challenged with facts or with lawsuit, they hide and run or start pleading in secret.
Like the one that kept calling company management to report Me and lay false accusations because she wanted Indiscriminate administration of controlled paindrugs without a proper authorization letter from her Specialist and I refused to continue indulging her . Het sister who is a doctor in the USA had to fly down and personality make her agree with my decision that it was safe practice. Prior to that, she had been peddling lies and I had even considered litigation on account of defamation.

Believe all people say about hospitals and health workers at your own peril. There are 2 sides to every story.

bigpicture001:
Top performers’ success may have more to do with great timing than great talent, writes Chengwei Liu.By Chengwei Liu, University of WarwickFromThe Conversation22 September 2017Bill Gates is a lot luckier than you might realise. He may be a very talented man who worked his way up from college dropout to the top spot on the list of the world’s richest people. But his extreme success perhaps tells us more about the importance of circumstances beyond his control than it does about how skill and perseverance are rewarded. We often fall for the idea that the exceptional performers are the most skilled or talentedWe often fall for the idea that the exceptional performers are the most skilled or talented. But this is flawed. Exceptional performances tend to occur in exceptional circumstances. Top performers are often the luckiest people, who have benefited from being at the right place and right time. They are what we calloutliers, whose performances maybe examples set apart from the system that everyone else works within. Many treat Gates, and other highly successful people like him, as deserving of huge attention and reward, as people from whom we could learn a lot about how to succeed. But assuming life’s “winners” got there from performance alone is likely to lead to disappointment. Even if you could imitate everything Gatesdid, you would not be able to replicate his initial good fortune. For example, Gates’s upper-class background and private education enabled him to gain extra programming experience when less than 0.01% of his generation then had access to computers. His mother’s social connection with IBM’schairman enabled him to gain a contract from the then-leading PC company that was crucial for establishing his software empire.Top performers are often the luckiest people, who have benefited from being at the right place and right timeThis is important because most customers who used IBM computers wereforced to learn how to use Microsoft’s software that came along with it. This created an inertia in Microsoft’s favour. The next software these customers chosewas more likely to be Microsoft’s, not because their software was necessarily the best, but because most people were too busy to learn how to use anything else.Microsoft’s success and market share may differ from the rest by several orders of magnitude but the difference was reallyenabled by Gate’s early fortune, reinforcedby a strong success-breeds-success dynamic. Of course, Gates’s talent and effort played important roles in the extreme success of Microsoft. But that’s not enough for creating such an outlier. Talent and effort are likely to be less important than circumstances in the sense that he could not have been so successful without the latter.A magic number? One might argue that many exceptional performers still gained their exceptional skill through hard work, exceptional motivation or “grit”, so they do not deserve to receive lower reward and praise. Some have even suggested that there is a magic number for greatness, a ten-year or10,000-hour rule. Many professionals and experts did acquire their exceptional skill through persistent, deliberate practices. In fact, Gates’ 10,000hours learning computer programming asa teenager has been highlighted as one ofthe reasons for his success. But detailed analyses of the case studies of experts often suggest that certain situational factors beyond the control of these exceptional performers also play animportant role. For example, three national champions in table tennis came from the same street in a small suburb of one town in England.10,000 hoursThe “10,000 hours of practice” rule is based on research by psychologist Anders Ericsson, which was popularised by US author Malcolm Gladwell in his 2008 book Outliers. This wasn’t a coincidence or because there was nothing else to do but practise ping pong. It turns out that a famous tabletennis coach, Peter Charters, happened to retire in this particular suburb. Many kids who lived on the same street as the retired coach were attracted to this sport because of him and three of them, after following the “10,000-hour rule”, performed exceptionally well, including winning the national championship.Their talent and efforts were, of course, essential for realising their exceptional performances. But without their early luck(having a reliable, high-quality coach and supportive families), simply practicing 10,000 hours without adequate feedback wouldn’t likely lead a randomly picked child to become a national champion. We could also imagine a child with superior talent in table tennis suffering from early bad luck, such as not having a capable coach or being in a country where being an athlete was not considered to be a promising career. Thenthey might never have a chance to realise their potential. The implication is that the more exceptional a performance is, the fewer meaningful, applicable lessons we can actually learn from the “winner”.Being in the right place at the right timecan be so important that it overwhelmsmeritsWhen it comes to moderate performance, it seems much more likely that our intuition about success is correct. Conventional wisdom, such as “the harderI work the luckier I get” or “chance favoursthe prepared mind”, makes perfect sense when talking about someone moving from poor to good performance. Going from good to great, however, is a different story.Being in the right place (succeeding in a context where early outcome has an enduring impact) at the right time (having early luck) can be so important that it overwhelms merits. With this in mind there’s a good case that we shouldn’t justreward or imitate life’s winners and expect to have similar success. But there is a case that the winners should considerimitating the likes of Gates (who became a philanthropist) or Warren Buffett (who argues that richer Americans should pay higher taxes) who have chosen to use their wealth and success to do good things. The winners who appreciate their luck and do not take it all deserve more of our respect.Chengwei Liu is an associate professor of strategy and behavioural science at the Warwick Business School, University of Warwick. Let's forget sentiments

Forget wedding ceremony

Marriage Life needs money

Money for Bigger apartment

Money for pregnancy and antenatal and medical Pregnancy issues and baby issues

It is not cheap even if You go to a government hospital

Sometimes the pregnancy or the baby has health issues and the mother can't work. The man now carries the whole burden and inflation and prices are going up
Marriage is a lot of duties, responsibilities and requirements and obligations.

Time, effort and Money.

If You are not ready, don't enter particularly for Men

If You go to hospital without money, You would be insulted
If You can't pay your rent, your landlord might insult You
If You can't provide everything needed for Your family, You might not feel.happy within yourself and your wife might even start to disrespect You

The Hard Painful truth

I have been down that route before.

I was not earning enough then and the breakout plan did not work out.

I couldn't carry more than myself so a settlement was reached and that was it
