Top of the morning to you all.

kindly advice me, i av read other comments and was able to get some of the informations i need.
i am also having my introduction next month and i av never attended one so i dont realy knw how its done. my question is do i need to hire a onilu (drummer) and alaga (standing police) for this occasion?, i dont want somthing big thou, just a parlour tin... Thanks
You need to get an alaga, usually alagas bring their onilus but its not compulsory. Alternatively, if you have a friend who can be your alaga, I have been to about two introductions that a friend was the alaga. Good luck.

my baby finds it difficult sucking from the day he was born. i discovered his tongue was tied and it was cut few days ago when he was 2months 1week. now, he won't even try at out. did i do the right thing? am so scared
Depending on how the tongue is tied,it doesn't make babies suck well and trust me you did the right thing cutting that tongue cos your baby will thank you for it in the future. Have you tried feeding your baby with the bottle, tongue tied children find it easier to feed from the bottle than the breast.
if you are doing exclusive breastfeeding, try expressing to a bottle and watch if your baby will drink more from it.

I need to rant, I want to rant...I want to scream, I want to cry. My baby do not sleep if I don't dance with him for at least 30 minutes, if I try to sit,he would scream and cry his eyes out and then he will sleep for like 10minutes only for him to wake up and then the dancing cycle starts again from the top. we do this for about 3 times before he finally settles to sleep. My back and my stitches aches like crazy cos he has started this at 4weeks and he is almost 7weeks now. Infact, a part of my stitches got opened and I know the culprit is cos I carry him to sleep. Please how can I help him sleep, I have tried putting him in a rocker, tried to place him down and pacify him to sleep nothing is working and I am feeling really worn out. HELP!!!

Hello mummies, anyone living around lekki ajah, who knows where I can buy sebamed shampoo and body soap? I can only find powder in the shops around me.

Also please can someone advise which formula contains prebiotics and/or probiotics. Thanks
You will get at blenco supermarket, they just opened a big mall around badore road. if you take maruwa going to badore from ajah, just tell them you want to drop at blenco, you either get inside the supermarket itself or at medplus also in the shopping mall

You pay for immunization ? ? ? My LO collected everything...we were not giving an option to select!
Other immunizations are free, just Rotavirus and Pneumoccoca, please check your immunization card, I know most government hospitals and health centers do not give Rotavirus and pneumoccoca cos it's not subsidized by the government you have to pay for it

Mamas, kindly help with this. I noticed that he sometimes opens one eye wider than the other. Is this normal?
Why not take your baby to a pediatrician, I guess people don't know that is why no one responded. The only time my baby opens one eye wider than the other is when I breastfeed him and it's cos of the position he is while breastfeeding and I think that is true for all babies, but of your LO is opening an eye wider than the other at other times, please see a pediatrician to rule out all worries.

@lamdec dentinox is also used to treat colic. it worked for my baby when she didn't respond to infacol. hw is ur baby doing? have u been to ur doctor?
Ok thanks, I will keep the drug in mind. My baby is getting better but throughout yesterday he was just restless and fussy, but since last night he has been calm. I haven't gone to see the doctor yet...cash restrains but will go this weekend cos I have lot of complains, his diaper rash is not going, to me it's getting worse and with blisters. I am using a zinc oxide and white petroleum based cream like sudocream but it's another brand and it's seems not to be working.

Good day sabi mama's. I'm a FTM. I gave birth to my DS on 11th of May. I have an issue and don't know if anyone has gone thru this. After I put to bed, I experienced the normal postpartum bleeding (lochia) and it stopped after 6weeks. Thereafter like a week later, I started bleeding.. I tot it was aunt flo visiting only for the bleeding to become extremely heavy (like filling one pad in less than 30 mins). I went to my doctor and a scan was done to check if there was any retained placenta and there was none. I was given injections and the bleeding subsided only for it to start again after 24hours. I went back and I was given drugs to use and my doc said if it doesn't stop that a D&C wld b done. After the drugs (took it for 2days) the bleeding stopped and I just kept spotting dark Brown discharge (it's sometimes sticky) till recently I started seeing blood spots... to cut the long story short, I hav just been spotting all tru except for one time I didn't spot at all for about 3 days.... but now I bleeding very very lightly (I'm using a liner for it cos it's light ).
This one startd 2days ago. Don't knw if I'm experiencing
hormonal imbalance or what? Sorry for d long story.
I also experienced the same thing after 8 days of delivery. I had him through ceaserian section so I was kinda confused too that there shouldn't be any placenta left in my uterus. in my case I was soaking a pad in less than five minutes, I was given injections and drips.and was admitted..I am kind of surprised that you have not been admitted cos you shouldn't be bleeding that much. A scan was done for me that showed a blood clot in my uterus and my gynecologist performed a D and C the very next day and I have been fine. It's 4 weeks now and I am no longer bleeding or spotting, please see another doctor if possible or go back to your doctor. it is well.

@lamdec I am also experiencing that went to see d doctor who said its colic and was given infacol but there was no improvement so we started using dentinox and there had been great improvement
Thanks for this.I am also thinking it's colic or too much gas, I also intend seeing the doctor, infacol is a gas drop for.babies I think, what does dentinox do.

Hello all mamas in the house, how is our LOs doing. Please I noticed for the past two or three days that my son started grunting and squirming when he sleeps. Sometimes he wakes up and I have to pacify him to sleep again. I don't know if it's too much gas, and I have no idea what drug to use, some say gripe water, I heard it's not advisable to give babies gripe water. He is 25days old and he poos and burps.well, he is both breastfeeding and formula feed. I don't know what to do, is there any thing I can give him to reduce his grunting.

Thanks rieme28,dunnybaby26,rashomo and other mamas for the replies. We actually clean the. cord and.the area surrounding and beneath it thoroughly every time he feeds and every time we.change his diapers or sometimes whenever he wakes up from sleep, my mum makes sure she cleanses it thoroughly, I just want to be sure it's okay for it to take this long time to fall. I guess I will allow her do the hot compress, was advised against it at the hospital that cleaning it is enough. I will keep hoping it falls off soon. Thanks everyone.

Hello.mamas, I know a lot of questions are yet to be answered but I will appreciate if this is answered. My baby is 15 days now and his placenta cord hasn't come off, my mum is kinda worried that it is taking too long. The doctors advice that I only clean it with cotton wool and methylated spirit but my mum is of the opinion that we should use heat compress on it. The stump looks fine, no smells, no discharge and it's shrinking but my mum thinks it's just taking too long. What else can I do, she is getting me to panic and I don't know if I should allow her use heat on his navel.

Thanks tobiaboG, favoredgirl and mytestimony. I had him through cs and from the first night at the hospital the nurses had to tell me.to get food for him, I came home after 5 days and had to go back after the naming cos I was bleeding profusely, I just got home two days ago... I have been trying to pump but most times he would have emptied my engorged breast so there is very little to pump and now my dad mistakenly took my breast pump to Ado after I was admitted the.second time and I stay in lagos. It's going to take a while for me to get a new breast pump.
Since I came back I haven't been able to eat much no matter how hard I try, I take just a little pap every morning and eat foods like amala but in small quantities. I read that breastfeeding is about demand and supply that is why I put him to breast for nothing less than 30mins at a go so that I can produce enough for him but I still end up giving him baby food before he gets satisfied. He is just 12days old and we are battling with feeding, I don't know what to do.

Hello to all the pushing mamas in the house, I can now tell my birth story now...ehwww, it hasn't been easy o,vigilante things and postpartum recovery.

Here goes my birth story, I went to the hospital on Monday for my schedule induction, I was to get to the hospital by 8pm and induction is suppose to start by 4am on Tuesday. Around 3.45am I saw bloody show, and contractions but the doctor still inserted induction gel around 4.15am, contractions started steadily every 10minutes and around 9am, I was checked and I was 4cm dilated.

Contractions kept coming stronger and closer together but around 4pm, I was having contractions at 4minutes apart and they were not getting closer and I was just 5cm dilated . So the doctor said I had labored for 12hours and he can't take chances for me to continue, so he would have to do an emergency cs.

So he put a call through to the anesthesiologist that was when wahala started o, the anesthesiologist was stuck in traffic o, he was very close by but lagos being lagos, rain started and there was traffic gridlock. A 15minute journey turned to 3hours journey and I kept having contractions and I was just 6cm dilated at 7.30pm.

The Anesthesiologist arrived around 7.45pm and I was taken to the theater weak, tired, restless. The Anesthesiologist started apply the spinal epidural, he did the first one, it didn't work, the second one, still didn't work and I was having contractions in between and I had to sit steadily, it was the third one that now worked and the procedure started.

My baby was brought out at 8.25 thereabouts and I was taken out around 9pm. Since then o, my neck has been stiff, I was told it's a side effect of the anesthesia but it is getting better. And my darling son has not allowed me sleep at night, he stays awake all through the night to breastfeed but I am getting used to it sha.

God will grant other pushing mamas safe delivery.

i have a question oh

in yoruba culture, who is traditionally expected to come around after the birth of a child? the wife's mother or the husband's mother?
Well, my hubby and I are Yorubas and we have agreed that my mum will come stay with us for at least a month before MIL comes. So nowadays, it also depends on the.decision of the couple cos I am more comfortable with my mum taking care of me at least till I heal well before MIL comes around.
