Instead of reacting, why not educate, for them to be here it may mean they have doubts in their heart and yearn for knowledge- help them instead.

Do you know what data privacy means?

Yes as a matter of fact I hold the CDPSE certification from ISACA (feel free to look it up)

One of the key requirements on data protection and privacy is that, consent (which in this case is what the shahada stands for here) must be given by the user EXPRESSLY (meaning it must be giving willingly without and force or coercion).

In this case you have forced the user to give consent if they want to process access the information.

As a matter of fact, if NITDA the body that champions data protection in Nigeria is serious they will use their data privacy laws (NDPA) to fine Nairaland.

Haha. Don’t mind me. But feel free to look these things up.

There is no compulsion here. You have option to accept or pass. A condition must be met before commenting on any Islamic matters. That is just it.

So basically youre scaring away anyone that is trying to see things from your perspective.

You now have pple that are not muslims accenting to things they do not agree with, this is even liable in terms of data privacy.

I still maintain that this measure is like killing a mosquito with a sledgehammer.

Masha Allah. Every commenter up there testified that :
There is no other God except Allah.
Mohammed (S. A. W) is His messanger.
Islam is the only true religion acceptable to Allah.

Islam teaches us that let there be no compulsion in religion, so my personal opinion on this is that Seun is being obnoxious.

While it might serve as a deterrent from those who will seek to come derail islamic threads, it still does not eliminate or significantly reduce the risk. In short if the impact of the risk is considered as "Critical", at best it reduced it to "high" instead.

What happens to let everyone in and show them love no matter what? heck, your simple display of kindness may even win some souls over.
Islam for Muslims / Re: What Is The Rules Of Collecting Interest In Islam by lapazi(m): 2:47pm On Nov 01
AntiChristian:
Interest (Riba) is simply haram or forbidden!

Allah has explained that riba is haram, and warned those who do not give it up, in the verses (interpretation of the meaning): "O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from riba (usury) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger . . ." [al-Baqarah 2:278-279]

Stanbic IBTC too called me that I'm eligible to take loans and I can see the what I qualify to take as loan in my account dashboard!

But it is haram and incurs the wrath of Allah!

May Allah suffice us with halal means!

I see your effort and may Allah reward you. But I will add more context to it for more enlightenment.

I will try as much as possible to keep it short and simple for those that do not understand why it is considered haram (sin) in Islam.

The position of Islam on Interest simply aims to create a just, ethical economy that discourages exploitation and promotes mutual welfare. Instead, Islam encourages systems that support both sides fairly, where everyone shares in profit and risk.

Islamic finance offers alternatives to make financial dealings fairer:

Profit Sharing (Mudarabah): Here, one person provides the money, and another provides the expertise. They split the profit, so each has something to gain or lose, balancing the risk.

Joint Ventures (Musharakah): People pool resources and split any profit or loss, encouraging teamwork and responsibility.

Cost-Plus Financing (Murabaha): Instead of charging interest, a seller discloses the cost of an item, adds a fair profit, and the buyer pays over time.

These methods keep transactions honest, protect the financially vulnerable, and encourage fair trade. The goal is an economy where everyone can benefit without exploitation.

I hear you, but for me, it’s less about how I was introduced to Islam and more about the principles.

The principles of modesty and commitment are meant to help us lead peaceful and responsible lives.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

Fornication isnt a sin? Wow we learn something new every day.

I respect your view, and I get that everyone has different beliefs. For me and many other faith-based folks out there, I see it as a way to disregard spiritual teachings that encourage love and commitment. Either way, we’re all on our own path, so thanks for the conversation!

Zina is fornication. It is a sin in all religion. The beauty about Islam is that Allah is oft forgiven and most merciful. So if we seek for Allah's forgiveness He may show us mercy. Do not despair from the mercy of your lord.

So, on what basis were they suspended if there are no evidences yet?

The fact that they’ve been accused is a good enough basis to suspend pending thorough investigations. That’s how it is done.

If no evidence is put forward, the suspension must be lifted and the accusers must be prosecuted.

But if I were the pastors, I will resign

Israel wants a wider conflict that will destabilize the entire region. This will eventually trickle down into other conflicts. It’s just a matter of time they hit Iran directly like they’re already doing in Lebanon.

Even the Christian dominated south Lebanon was hit, this region has almost zero hezbolla.

Ultimately they’d get the ww3 they seem to want so bad. Why I say this is that when they hit the likes of, Egypt, Turkey- they won’t take it lying down.

What do you mean- the new allegations are weighty:
1- they’d try to uncover why the money laundering was dropped and if determined that there seem to be some monkey business, they would add it back.

2- second is the case of bribery which was not there before. If determined, she would definitely be prosecuted for it.

3. Finally, if true she didn’t server her prison term in accordance to our judicial system, she would do it again.

As for Yahaya, he should submit himself to them. Its pointless running away for the first few months, only to be later picked up like a criminal with even a worse humiliation

But does it make sense that he showed up at their door step literally and they asked him to go away, only for them to go after him in the middle of the night?

Make it make sense!

Family / Re: UK Woman Urges Nigerian Wives: Stop Reporting Husbands To UK Police by lapazi(m): 7:20am On Sep 10
Emmanuel900:
The truth is most of these women never love their husband in the first place.

They just settled for them because they have the fattest pocket and are able to fill the role of provider they need, so when they get to UK with more opportunities for women to make more money and empowerment, their husband become useless to them and they just want to bail out.
I told my friend this just the other day. And the truth is I don’t entirely blame the women. Most Nigerian men believe that the only way they can woo a woman is with money. So, naturally women have been conditioned to go for the man with the fattest pocket as you said. You’re spot on, immediately they get abroad and see that that have better opportunities, better lives, better chances at making it without the man (who is now struggling to keep her in check) they’d bail.

Sane people did not vote for him na.

Never underestimate the power of insane people in large numbers. They can vote for him again.

But isn’t that what democracy is all about?

Majority will have their way ( whether the majority was derived through rigging or not).

This is why I think democracy can never work for us in Nigeria.

According to Plato (greatest philosopher of all time), He claims that democracy is a danger due to excessive freedom. He also argues that, in a system in which everyone has a right to rule, all sorts of selfish people who care nothing for the people but are only motivated by their own personal desires are able to attain power.

He concludes that democracy risks bringing dictators, tyrants, and demagogues to power. He also claims that democracies have leaders without proper skills or morals and that it is quite unlikely that the best equipped to rule will come to power.

This is exactly where we are today in Nigeria and we may keep going in circles like this for the next 100 years.
