You are not just a bloody welder.

Just 2 contracts will change your story. Welders can meet massive blessings from few jobs.

Sleep in your shop if need be. Make fun out of it. Joke about it. Let your friends yab you and let all of you laugh.

The truth is you are at the breakthrough of your life. Do not complain. Be cheerful.

To the poster,

This maybe an unpopular opinion but do not chase that lady and her kids away please. Take it up as a challenge and see how doors of opportunities will open up for you.

Pray for God's blessings on the works of your hand and you will move everybody there into a duplex.

Do not complain but rather see that family as yours.

I have been looking for his photographe to see what a MAN OF COURAGE looks like.

That old man is made of very very premium steel.

Very good.

Take 4 passport pictures, guarantor form stamped at the court or notary public, birth certificate, drivers licence or any other ID...I'm trying to remember everything.

However you can see the complete required documents on their website.

Go early. Be patient. Be steadfast. Dress well and speak confidently.

When you see people jumping the process don't get angry that you are doing the right thing.

Do not let anybody in uniform intimidate you. Be ready to dragggggggggggg them through ICPC, DSS, SFU if need be.

Test the system. You will succeed.

Hello latitidejavu,

I really appreciate your courage and ready to tow your path. I have done my online registration and ready to pay online too. Please, what are the documents I need to take along to the immigration office? I don't want them to start telling me that I don't have a particular document so I should pay to bypass it. I am ready to spend the whole day in their office at Alausa, Ikeja without going the way of bribery.

I await your response. Thanks
Travel / Re: Passport: Immigration, NIMC Extort Nigerians by latitidejavu: 8:38pm On Sep 14, 2021
I insist that you do not have the full facts.

My passport was in 2020. Then you are given a date online and you go and do your capture and take your passport.

Even then you had corrupt Nigerians asking to pay officers to do everything from payment to collection in 24 hours.

If the official time is 6 weeks now, then people should wait for 6 weeks! Then plan with that information but no, people want to beat the line.

If you have been waiting since July then take it up! Write to every possible anti-corruption office. Make a case out of it if you have the courage which most Nigerians lack.

florixi:
I insist you getting the passport in 45min after capturing is favourism! The due process is for you to wait till six weeks after capturing before issuance and collection. why didn't you ask them to clear the people before you before they issue your own. My family captured since July up till now not issued yet. so which due process are you talking about?.

The problem in nigeria is that everyone sort themselves! whether by bullying or bribery . In abroad once your passport is ready they dhl it to you in your house. you dont need to go to their office to shut or harass anyone , don't you like such a system? so i repeat its the system!

Travel / Re: Passport: Immigration, NIMC Extort Nigerians by latitidejavu: 7:07pm On Sep 14, 2021
The system is corrupt because of people that come there to bribe the officers.

I got it immediately after my capture because that was the policy. I waited for three weeks before my capture.

Do the right thing and insist that the right thing be done! I could afford to pay 70k but I insisted on doing the right thing.

You are here blaming 'system' when it's you Nigerians that look for how to mess up the system. Always looking for shortcuts, express, who you know inside an office.

florixi:
Oga, the system is corrupt . Even you that got it in 45min is favourism! Not everyone can fight people like you did. You were also frustrated just like every other person that opt for bribing them instead of turning the place to boxing ring. If we have a working system , i dont need to pay them a dime or bully them to get things done.

All of you paying are the real corrupt individuals.

You are all impatient and seeking for who to blame for your corrupt tendencies.

My wife and I paid for the passport online and I went to the office. I was asked who is 'pushing' it for me, I replied that I didn't pay anyone anything.

They kept me there for 6 hours. I took out my laptop and was working while sitting down. After a while I got up and walked to the office of the OIC and told him that I am aware of all the people who paid 50k, 60k etc and who has been issued passports. That why are they keeping us here.

One junior office made to talk , I promptly shut him up otherwise I will write him up. Within 45 minutes I was ushered in for my capture and my booklet issued.

You are all the ones corrupting the officers. if you all show up there prepared to do the right thing then they will sit up. What happens is that everyone tried to jump the queue and outsmart the other person. Nigerians ACTIVELY look for who to bribe to subvert the process.

Nigerians will walk into an office and start looking for who will do it express and fast then come online to point fingers.

A country of terribly educated people. This is a clear example that a majority of Nigerians are irredeemable.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry about the nonsense littered all over this thread.

Sick human beings. Pastor this, spiritualist that. I know one strong this, call that. This is why we have mad people increasing on the roads everyday because people have common mental breakdowns due to stress, genetics etc and instead of their relatives taking them to a federal Neuropsychiatrist hospital they start patronizing losers and idiots who call themselves spiritual men.

A completely hopeless society is what this society is.

Going through this thread is sickening. This is the result of very poor public education.

A lot of people are plain stupid!

I hope the poster doesn't make the mistake of believing all these spiritual and herbal nonsense!

gaddafe:

My brother, the level of our reasoning in this country is pathetic. And we say Buhari is the problem. I think Seun should hide those useless comments on the front page suggesting the matter is spiritual. It actually make us appear foolish to the world. You can imagine other sensible sites like quota and Reddit, when questions are asked you see intelligent response, but a common Schizophrenia, a disease that can be managed is what Nigerians are displaying their foolishness to the world. Ah! God! Why do we even bother to go to school in this part of the world if after schooling we still act like cave men.
I just wonder what Nigerians would say when they encounter more complex mental disorders like MPD.
And once again Seun those comments are an embarrassment to Nigeria as a nation. Please do something.

Poster I have taken it upon myself to keep repeating this till you acknowledge you have heard me. Any doctor here will understand why the emphasis. People go to all manner of stupid places looking for pastors and prophets and herbalists to cure what your family is experiencing only to finally destroy any chances of full recovery. Simple.

Poster please go to a Federal Neuropsychiatrist hospital New Heaven Enugh. The earlier you go the better the prognosis. Please. You are in Onitsha, drive down to Federal Neuropsychiatrist Hospital New Heaven Enugu on Monday. Don't make the mistake of going with all these herbal and spiritual solutions.

These are very stupid ideas. That many people are saying it's spiritual doesn't make it true. A lot of people are ignorant and daft! I am pleading with you. That young man is NOT under any attack. Your family is NOT under any curse or attack. Just like diabetics run in some families, this condition is also familial. Please start early to save that young man.

Consultant Neuropsychiatrists will manage this case very well and your brother will be whatever he wants to be so long as he takes his medications. The earlier you commence treatment the better the management.

Please in God's name DO NOT patronize all these prophets, pastors, herbal nonsense. This is a normal case. It's familial. Positive history from your mother's side. It is NOT a curse. It is NOT an attack.

It is a purely medical condition

AwkaFinest:

[b]You have said it all. Op since medicine worked for your elder brother, then it will likely work for your younger brother.
Note that mental illness especially schizophrenia, bipolar disorder etc is a combination of both genetic and environmental factors. Men tend to show symptoms earlier than women however early detection is key to adequate management.
You and your kids if you have or will have any in the future are also at risk of developing mental illness if truly the one in your family is genetic.
I'm not saying spiritual factor may not play a role, however since medicine has worked for your elder brother then allow no hustler that calls himself a pastor or native healer to waste your time and money as regards to your younger brother.

We do not choose our family, neither did our family chose us. Regret not and take your brother to a psychiatric home. Mental illness is just like any other chronic illness like hypertension, diabetes etc, they could be managed but not entirely cured.

Please don't listen to all these go here and go there advice for spiritual and herbal nonsense. Nigerians are very ignorant and poorly educated people. Go to a Federal Neuropsychiatrist hospital. There are consultants there whose specialty this is. This is a positive family history. It is 100% manageable. There are very high and accomplished professionals who are on medications like this. Patients can still live their best lives.

Mrskillz1:
I am from a family of three. I have two brothers. One older and the other younger than me so I'm the only girl in my family.

I grew up seeing my Mom mad.
By my teen age, I got admission into Nnamdi Azikiwe University alongside my elder brother who was to study Engineering. By the time I was in my finals, my brother was getting ready for IT. One day, his roommate sent for me, he said they couldn't sleep the night before because my brother was talking to himself. Before we knew what was happening, my brother was getting violent and so we took him home and he never got back to finish school.
I proceeded with my education and finished. Went for NYSC. While serving the nation, My Mom died. When I got home, she'd been buried.
But my brother was still mad.

I later got job, took my brother to a Psychiatric hospital and the doctor after examining him said he is Schizophrenic. He was asked to stay in the hospital.
I paid. He then stayed there for one month. When I came to visit him, he pleaded with me to take him home that he didn't like it there.

So I took him home. Every month, I buy drugs for him and he gets injected. He usually puts up a fight but with the help of my younger brother, neighbors and a certain nurse, he receives the injection, forcefully and against his will.
Often times, he pleads with me not to inject him, the very time I obliged him, he scattered things, didn't allow the neighborhood sleep, talked throughout some nights and wouldn't eat sometimes. He looked really sick then but with the injection, one will hardly know he's not normal.
I told him that I won't let him miss his injection ever again.

Now, on Monday, my younger brother woke up and was unusually quiet. He normally wakes up and begins to play music with his phone or he will turn to football channel and watch until I leave for work. But I didn't go to work on Monday and I noticed he was quiet, then I asked him why he's quiet. He didn't respond. After some hours, I asked my Dad if he feels he's okay, My Dad said that he wants to be quiet and that I should let him be.

Then, that night, around 4am, my brother began to talk. He was shouting and some of the things he said were not coherent. He talked out of point. I and my Dad, with my elder brother surrounded him and I couldn't help crying when my Dad was cautioning him to keep quiet and he refused.
Neighbours thought it was my elder brother's voice they'd heard that night but by the time they heard in the morning that it was my younger brother, they visited my Dad in the evening. By then, my brother was still talking and even burnt his clothes yesterday.
My Dad got a few guys to chain him because he was violent yesterday when I left the house.
I know the problem is spiritual. I have prayed, fasted for my elder brother and now this!
I'm so unhappy.

Can someone suggest a place I can take my two brothers to so they can be cured, please.

This is a text book psychology case of abusive, bitter and entitled family. Your sister. Do you hate her that much to destroy the father of her kids. You think the UK Police is dumb. They have been running psychological profile of both parties. The person being held for 28 days outside the home is obviously a very real threat to others. The young man caused all this. Once a lady shows herself to be bitter or toxic, cut her off without looking back immediately. I repeat cut her off. Kids or no kids. Cut her off. I know in Nairaland the tribalism is too much hence some of us prefer to just read and marvel at the quality of thoughts of the supposedly future of the nation. However, I will still speak the truth.

As an Igbo young man, the first thing is that we make a lot of noise. We are too noisy and I dare say we are mostly empty. Just imagine people doubting statistics from trained professionals. Beer parlour talk. I see the same loud and ignorant boasting from Onitsha to Owerri to Enugu. We talk and talk with little substance.

The statistics released by NBS aligns with those held by organizations like USAID and others. I see some of us Igbos counting the number of new houses as sign of economic growth. Permit me to sound harsh but that is a terribly daft opinion. We think it's by building houses everywhere, building economically useless mansions inside rural villages. Silly houses that produce nothing. We are joking.

We should look West and learn. We are quick to shout and insult others, this I find very irritating. Yet the westerners will keep their head down and focus on building sustainable productive businesses. We focus on egotistical projects that are unproductive. We need to understand that houses do not create employment, skills and training needed to lift people out of poverty enmass. Let's us try and be less noisy and learn!

Politics / Re: January 1966 Coup – The Biggest Mistake Of The Igbo Tribe by latitidejavu: 12:27am On Mar 02, 2020
My brother may you live long.
I am Igbo from a well titled Nze family. My grandfather who was a police officer under the colonial authority fought in the war, my father and his three brothers fought fought too. All came back. I was my grandfather's favorite grandchild because I am his first grandson. Before he died in 1997, my grandfather basically downloaded Nigerian history to me. He also kept diaries. His library in my village is like a two bedroom apartment full of books, minutes of meetings and what have you.

I have read and read and got tired of reading. I also read with tears just like you. I am so happy another Igbo man has come to the same conclusion. That coup was a stupid, ill-advised, silly, daft move by Igbo officers. The war led by Ojukwu was daft, egostical and completely bereft of strategic thinking.

Before I continue, nobody should come here accusing me of not being Igbo. I am nwa afor so much that I can lay claim to the prime minister title of my grandfather tomorrow if I ever want to.

We destroyed the federalism of this nation when our leading lights Ben Nwabueze and go advised Ironsi to turn this country into a unitary system. We destroyed the foundation of this country when the shots of that first coup was fired. A new nation dealing with distrust amongst the three main tribes and one tribe takes it on ourselves to shoot other officers and we expect them not to strike back? We threw everything we had away. Threw away all our advantage and dragged the new country down with our thoughtless actions.

This has always been our problem as Igbos we lack strategic thinking! We are still making that mistake today. We make a looooot of noise and act without caution. It's not bravery! It's madness! I have read the colonial reports on a lot of those Igbo officers that led that coup and it was not impressive. Who are we to kill the leaders of other tribes and somehow our leaders survived? As in? The country was having political challenges and because we are the Messiah of the world we took it upon ourselves to undertake a coup when the obvious beneficiary will be an Igbo man. Are others stupid? Na only us Waka come?

This is why I get irritated by a lot of political moves we Igbos make even today. We have learnt nothing. Let me stop for now. Next thing my Igbo brothers will come here and start insulting me but nobody here can claim to be more Igbo than me!

We should officially apologize to this country

franchasng:
1966 Coup by Maj. Nzeogwu – The Biggest Mistake of The Igbo Military Officers & Political Elites

Whenever I read a new book on the January 1966 bloody coup that ended Nigeria’s first indigenous government led by Tafawa Belewa and Nnamdi Azikiwe, tears roll down my eyes.

Igbos lost so much after that unfortunate coup of January 1966 and the counter coup + civil war that followed. Imagine no matter how much an Igbo man or woman had in Nigerian bank before the war, they were given just 20 pounds after the war to start life with; courtesy of Obafemi Awolowo’s 20 pounds policy after the war.

Personally on my family side, my father had close to a million pounds in his bank account before the war, though he managed to take some back to his hometown before the war broke out, but he lost over 500,000 pounds after the war.

On my maternal side, my mom’s elder brother was a head engineer at Enugu railway station, he died in the war as a volunteer special Biafra forces that went to recapture Ebonyi from Federal forces with no weapon, they were only trained to fight with their bare hands to capture weapons from federal forces.

Now enough of my family story.

Nzeogwu had no reason, I mean no reason at all to carry out or lead the first coup of January 1966, and if at all their action was to be justified for any reason like to stop the Western Nigeria political crises between Awolowo and Akintola, then the manner in which they carried out the coup execution – killing Northern political leaders and some Mid-West and Western Premier, while abandoning the Igbo political leaders was the greatest mistake of the Igbo race!

Aguiyi Ironsi who was supposed to correct this mistake when he took over power after the coup made the most stupid mistake of not heeding to Ojukwu’s advice of executing the coupists to pacify the already angered and boiling Northern Nigeria heavily cooking up revenge. He wasted time trying to reconcile the boiling issue through regional tours and dialogue when the North already lost their key political leaders in the unfortunate coup.

The mistakes of Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna, Anofuru, and co are the root cause of every predicament the great Igbo race are encountering in Nigeria today.

Igbos were completely in charge of Nigeria; from politics to leadership to military to trade, to business to almost every sector and were already the envy of other regions, so carrying out a coup was totally unnecessary when you were in charge, what else did you want

Before the coup and the civil war that followed, Igbos were the President (Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe), Igbos were the Senate President (Sen. Nwafor Orizu), the Chief of Army Staff (Maj, Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi), Head of Nigerian Military Intelligence (Maj. Chukwuma Nzeogwu), richest person in Nigeria & Africa (Sir Louis Odumegwu-Ojukwu), first Vice Chancellor of Nigeria who headed University of Ibadan (Prof. Kenneth Dike), and so many other things.

I am writing this to awaken all Igbo sons and daughters home and abroad, we must resist every attempt to repeat the same mistake we made in the 1960s that pushed us out of national political relevance and others in Nigeria, which is one of the reasons Igbo region is struggling with infrastructural developments compared to other regions.

Career / Re: Entrepreneurs Are Ruining Morales Of Employees by latitidejavu: 8:45pm On Jan 20, 2020
May the good Lord bless you forever!

ultron12345:
Rubbish

Firstly, I do not support owing employees salaries. Salaries should always be paid when due as specified in the employment contract. If for some reason, you can't afford the salaries at that particular time, inform the employees of the situation, explain to them and an understanding should be reached.

I will however talk about the so-called 'Peanut Salary'. What exactly is peanut salary?. Were you not informed of the salary before taking the job?. If the salary is too small for you, then the solution is simple, don't take the job. If you've already taken it, then resign, abi did they tie your hands and legs.

Salary is determined by productivity and market-value. You cannot be producing N4000 and be expecting to be paid N10,000.

Demand and supply of labour must also be put into consideration. When demand of labour is higher then the supply, wages are high, but when demand of labour is less than supply, wages are low.

You don't expect an employer to pay N1,000,000 when others are willing to take less. Will you buy a bag of rice at N200,000 when the near-by store is selling the same bag of rice and the same quality at N50,000. Never. So why do you expect employers to do otherwise. The same way an employee will not stay with an employer paying him N100,000 when another employer is willing to pay him N900,000.

Some companies honestly can't pay better. How can you expect a school in one small, interior town, that collects school fees of N6000 per term to be paying salary of N50,000 per month to teachers.

If you're not happy with salary you're offered, then don't accept the job or resign. If you're worth more than that salary, you will surely see other employees willing to pay your more than what you were paid before. If I offer salary of N40,000 per month, and no-one takes the job, I will be forced to increase the salary in order to fill the vacancy. You can also choose to start your own business and begin paying water-melon salaries instead and we'll see how long you'll stay afloat.

Let's also not forget how lazy and wicked Nigerian employees are. They are ready to ruin your business with fraud at the slightest opportunity. All they do is to steal your money. That is why Nigerian employees coined the phrase "Na where person dey work, na there e dey chop, na e make them dey callam work-chop (workshop)" as a way to justify their fraudulent character. Money that is supposed to be used to sustain and expand the business and even provide better packages for the staff will then have to be used to employ extra-staff to monitor each other, biometric scanners, CCTV cameras and other things that are not supposed to be needed, just to monitor staff to avoid fraud.

Start a poultry and they will be stealing your eggs. Some will even go ahead to be killing the chickens so that they'll be allowed to take them home.

Start an entertainment/viewing/game center and they'll be pocketing your money. On the days you're around at the business, the money realized will be x10 of the money realized when you're not around. Because they're eating your money.

Lease out a vehicle to a driver to use and watch as he'll finish you.

Start a restaurant, the same thing will happen. More than half of the total food ingredients will end up in their personal kitchens.

Even ordinary provisions shop, they will find a way to steal.

The major problem of doing business in this country isn't power or infrastructure, it's finding honest and competent manpower. The average Nigerian employee is waiting to steal from you. The ones in management positions will not only be stealing but will be hiring incompetent staff solely because they are his friends, relatives or church members. That's why I don't blame companies who hire expatriates like Indians and Lebanese for sensitive positions like Finance and Accounting even when we have qualified Nigerians.

Some people have money to do business in this country but they don't have time for it. They'll have employed staff to manage it, but they can't do that because there are no trustworthy staff in Nigeria, so they abandon the idea, and rather invest their money in treasury bills and fixed deposit accounts. And later, they'll be complaining they there are no jobs when they are killing all the businesses with their evil character.

Let's not forget their rude attitude that they'll use to drive all your customers away, just like they exhibit in government offices.

That's why they like government work, where they're allowed to be lazy and to steal. Where they can get money without adding any value. Where they can steal, where they can come to work by 10pm, gist till 12pm, sleep till 3pm and spend the next hour preparing to leave by 4pm. And they'll go home and tell people they went to work. That is why our government agencies are not working, that is why our government corporations like NNPC and others are not working. That is why we say Nigerian government cannot run business. Any private company that allows such will fail like Nigerian government agencies and corporations have failed.

If you think your salary is Peanut Salary, then quit and sart your own business and be paying water-melon salaries. By the time you crumble, you'll start blaming Buhari.

Peanut salary ke, paw-paw salary ni.
Resign and start your own.

I did not even read your reply before I wrote mine. You took the words from my mouth. And those lazy and destructive employees mostly sound like this OP. Entitled yet unproductive. Their salary is all they care about nothing else. They will NEVER bring up one way to improve the place that pays them yet they are the first to know that your kids are abroad.

You can imagine. Workers deserve their wages but sadly a lot of these complaining workers add NO value. Yes there are mean employers but the mindset of most employees of small and medium businesses are really sad. They want to live like their Oga yet have no idea the anxiety and HBP that Oga is facing.
Hedonisco:

Na me you wan tell? I know exactly how this thing works. I've had my fingers burnt. It is ridiculous. I had to close down my only brick and mortar business which didn't allow me control the cash flow process 100%. I laid off the bastards and closed down the business, and went on a very long hiatus to perfect my business model for subsequent ventures.

I also redefined my other business which placed too much creative control on certain employees. Their lazy, wicked and incompetent asses would destroy your business's hard earned quality reputation and send you back to the village. God forbid.

Now I only run (and will only ever run) businesses where I either have full control (or technology enabled supervision) of receiving and disbursing ALL payments, or the process can be automated to a large extent. If I have Nigerian staff, it is only for administrative tasks. I can't even trust them with customer service because if they don't see any avenue to collect money and defraud you, they will chase away your precious customers with their very terrible winchy attitude.

Because they see you living a certain lifestyle that YOUR own entrepreneurship affords you, they would start sulking and expecting 1000000% salary increase, even without commensurate output/performance on their part. Terrible idiots. That's why so many of them can only hope for government work and the likes, so that they can collect free money without adding value.

The OP is just an entitled person. Just imagine him hitting on the fact that the employer's kids are abroad. You smack of envy. If you are really hardworking and create value and can put your thoughts into words without sounding bitter then walk up to your employer and ask that he pays you on time and have a discussion.

I will never support owing salaries neither do I defend it however address your pain intelligently and leave where his children are schooling out of it. It is not your business. Some people do not understand the debt that many business owners are contending with to keep that your job alive.

If we come to that your office we may be surprised to discover you maybe one of those people who just sit around counting down calendar to pay day.

.I am sorry about your past experiences on jobs, God will give you a better one...

But that aside

Do you think its easy to employ

Do you think its easy to pay someone salary every month,

Do you know that most employees (with their 25k a month) earns more than the boss
Do you know that some entrepreneurs will not earn salary for the next 1 year because they r building the business, but must pay their staffs every month.

Do know some entrepreneurs borrow from families to pay their workers

Do you know that paying salaries is not the only challenge and entrepreneur face in their business

Water, light, signage, waste, council, maintenance, diesel or fuel, e.t.c

Do you know, no matter the economic melt down no matter if d business sells or not, no matter the price of diesel, no matter anything, you have hope at least of getting your salary no matter how little, same can not be said for an entrepreneur..

Do you know the risk, do you know that most of those business you take little salaries from, it was being established by a Loan, but the owners won't tell you..

Do you know how many entrepreneurs that the Nigerian custom has wrecked last year because of the increase in clearing fees, will he call you one morning and say chike I use to clear this clothes 200naira before but now is 700naira, therefore your salary is now reduced to 15k...

Am not in support of owing salries, e.g years back my business was using 3 security, before I had to call the boss and say, baba you no how the country be now pls, I can only afford two, case closed..

Its only when you wear the shoe you will no where its hurts

Being an entrepreneur in NIGERIA, is one of the most hardest, discouraging thing ever..

Can someone tell us how much that advert cost? Let someone tag someone in punch and let them create a donate button on their front page and Nigerians will match that revenue they lost to the the petty presidency. Can someone notify punch.

This makes a lot of sense. Don't even stop at 10. Make it 70 so that some will join the house of reps and the senate. I'm sure one of them will be President insha Allah. Some will join the super eagles team too.

It is a well established theory that adults do not change. The best indicator of future behavior is past behavior. This is known in psychology as the consistency theory.
