Religion / Prophet Challenges Lions At The Kruger Park In South Africa by lawal123: 9:00pm On Mar 10, 2016
In trying to reenact the tale of Daniel in the bible, a Zion Christian Church prophet who was reportedly filled with the Holy Spirit recently ‘challenged’ a lion to do battle in the Kruger National Park.

Daily Post South Africa reports that the prophet initially charged towards the lions, but they called his bluff and charged back.

Prophet Alec Ndiwane who is based in the Pretoria Soshanguve was with fellow church members in the Kruger National Park where they were watching animals.

Sources disclose that the prophet went into a trance and started to speak in tongues. Ahead of them was a lion pride busy eating their impala.

Prophet Alec said he was moved by the holy spirit to challenge the lions

Buoyed by the “Holy Spirit”, Alec opened the car door and went charging towards the lions. Upon seeing the man running towards them, the lions could not believed that manna was coming straight from heaven and instead ran towards the prophet.

Realizing that the game had changed, the prophet quickly made an immediate turn and ran back to safety. However, before he could safely reach the confines of the car, one lion had snapped its paws on him thus causing major damage to his buttocks.

Witnesses say Prophet was lucky that the game ranger who was near fired some shots with his gun to scare the lion away.

The injury was very severe that Alec had to be rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. The doctors affirmed the severity of the Prophet’s case, but assured that he would still have his left bum intact.

Alec was eventually stitched up and discharged after spending the night in hospital.

“I do not know what came over me,” Alec confessed, adding: “I thought the Lord wanted to use me to show his power over animals. Is it not we were given dominion over all creatures of the earth.”

Politics / Jonathan, Alison-maduke, Okonjo-iweala Involved In NNPC Diversion Of $50 Billion by lawal123: 6:26pm On Dec 10, 2013
President Goodluck Jonathan and two of his top ministers may be attempting a cover-up on what clearly competes as Nigeria’s biggest fraud ever, involving the illegal diversion, or theft, of over N8 trillion crude oil sales proceeds.

In a frantic and unusual memo to the president on September 25, 2013, Central Bank governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi detailed how government-owned oil firm, the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, had systematically diverted the huge sum, being sales proceeds between January 2012 and July 2013.

The CBN governor said for all crude oil sales within the period, the NNPC paid only 24 percent proceeds into the federation account, and diverted or stole the remaining 76 percent-totalling N8 trillion.

As the CBN calculated, the NNPC sold at least 594 million barrels of oil within the period, and should have paid N10.3 trillion (USD65.3 billion) into the federation account. But the corporation paid only N2.5 trillion (USD15.5 billion), Mr. Sanusi said, citing documentation from pre-shipment inspectors.

The whereabouts of the huge balance is unknown.

The weight of the differential is clearer if evaluated against the fact that the tiny percentage remitted by the NNPC managed to finance the nation in that period, raising the question of how much the total would then have achieved for a country unable to pay its university lecturers who have been on strike for five months.

Put simply, for each barrel of oil sold, say at an average of USD100, the NNPC illegally cornered $74 into an unknown account and gave Nigeria only $26.

Mr. Sanusi said he was “constrained” to hint the president after observing the huge shortfalls for years. He accused the NNPC of breaching two key federal laws, and urged the president to act expeditiously by ordering sweeping investigation and prosecution of those found culpable.

Two months on, the president has refused to act on the damning memo delivered to him personally by the CBN governor. In fact, after receiving the letter, the president, presidency sources say, questioned Mr. Sanusi on why such letter should be prepared in the first place and sent to him.

PREMIUM TIMES can also confirm that finance minister and former World Bank chief, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is also aware of the CBN’s information and has done nothing about it; while petroleum minister, Alison Diezani-Madueke, implicated in several corruption probes in the past, is said to be fully in the know about the massive plunder of crude oil money by the NNPC.

President challenged on corruption

Details of the president’s failure to act on such a massive scale of misappropriation came amid an increasing criticism of Mr. Jonathan’s response to corruption, as several senior officials of his government, accused of stealing or wasting public funds, have been spared of indictment and prosecution.

The weightiest of such concerns came on Monday from the speaker of the House of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, who publicly accused the president of consistently displaying a “body language” that encourages corruption.

Citing past scandals, the most recent being the N255 million armoured car fraud involving aviation minister, Stella Oduah, Mr. Tambuwal said the president’s penchant for duplicating committees to investigate corruption cases, rather than directing law enforcement agencies to probe them, showed Mr. Jonathan was less committed to curbing fraud.

“By the action of setting up different committees for straightforward cases, the president’s body language doesn’t tend to support the fight against corruption,” the speaker said at an event in Abuja.

Between 2011 and 2013, the House of Representatives has investigated the NNPC multiple times, and has in many cases found officials of the corporation wanting. But no one has been sanctioned by government.

In 2012, top management of the NNPC and the petroleum minister, Mrs. Madueke, who directly supervises the NNPC, were recommended for prosecution by the House in a shocking fuel subsidy probe. They accused officials have remained at their posts.

The CBN’s allegation is the most scathing yet for a corporation notorious for secrecy and corruption.

The diverted or stolen amount-N8 trillion between January 2012 and July 2013- is the nearly the equivalent of the total federal budgets for two years.

Put together, the sum can run the entire country for the period, build several new roads and railways, pay wages of millions of workers, cater for the nation’s teeming unemployed, build thousands of hospitals and schools, complete ongoing power projects, and on an urgent note, clear multiple times, all government financial obligations to university lecturers, whose ongoing strike has kept the universities shut for more than five months now.

More losses and the ECA

Even so, when compared with prevailing data from different government agencies, the figure admitted by the CBN is still lesser than what Nigeria should earn from oil sales.

While the bank said its computation, based on pre-shipment details, showed that Nigeria sold N10.3 trillion worth of oil in 19 months, PREMIUM TIMES’ analysis shows the government should rather realize N10.6 trillion in the first 10 months of 2013-Janaury to October-alone.

PREMIUM TIMES’s estimates is based on the government’s data of daily production average of 2.11 million barrels of crude, sold at an average price of $105.84 per barrel.

If multiplied and converted to naira, the government should have realized N10. 6 trillion in 10 months alone.

But in that period, total oil receipts data provided by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, claimed between January and October, the government made N5.8 trillion.

Also, our estimates show that the government has not only lied or misled Nigerians about its total receipts from oil sales, but is also deceitful about its earnings in the contentious Excess Crude Account.

The ECA holds the difference between the real market price for oil and the government’s projection in the national budget yearly.

For 2013, the government approved rate is $79 per barrel (called benchmark for oil price), meaning any raise in price at the international marker, will go into the ECA.

For most of the year, oil sold as much as $112 and $114 per barrel. At a conservative rate of $105 per barrel, the government should have realized $26 as difference per barrel for the Excess Crude Account.

Calculated at 2.11 million barrels per day, that should amount to $17.3 billion (about N2.695trillion) earned as excess crude revenue from crude oil exports as of October 2013.

But the government claims it generated only N986.6 billion in the Excess Crude Account.

No explanation

No government official could explain the huge gaps for the 2013 figures. The ministry of finance did not comment when contacted multiple times. Paul Nwabuiku, a spokesperson for the finance minister, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala, promised a response but refused to give one several days after.

A spokesperson for the Central Bank of Nigeria, reacting to our findings (not Mr. Sanusi’s letter) said as the government’s banker, it could not provide the requested information, as it was unlawful for a banker to divulge details about its customer to a third party.

“We maintain a customer/banker relationship with the government in the execution of our mandate. We do not divulge such information to third parties,” Mr. Ugochukwu said on Thursday via a text message.

Controversy over Excess Crude Account

PREMIUM TIMES’s own evaluation of government oil earnings began well ahead of obtaining Mr. Sanusi’s letter to President Jonathan.

The review was prompted by the lingering controversy over the ECA between the finance minister, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala and the Rivers state governor, Chibuike Amaechi.

Mr. Amaechi had accused the government of depleting the account, usually shared between the federal, states and local governments.

The governor said $5 billion had gone missing from the account under Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala’s watch.

Defending the administration, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala accused the governor of “playing politics” on the matter, and said the outstanding $5 billion had been shared to states as monthly allocation and local governments, with Rivers State being one of the major beneficiaries.

The frustration of CBN governor

But in his letter, Mr. Sanusi said he had long been frustrated by the NNPC’s secrecy with oil sales, and that he raised concerns twice to the president as far back as 2010 about his observation that a huge chunk of sales proceeds were not remitted to government treasury.

He said the shortfall in revenue as a result of oil theft and vandalism in the Niger Delta was insignificant compared to the scale of money unaccounted for by the NNPC.

“Your excellency, you will recall that as far back as late 2010, I had verbally expressed deep concern about what appeared to be huge shortfalls in remittances to the federation account in spite of the strong recovery in oil prices,” the CBN governor wrote, indicating the losses extending years back far surpasses the N8 trillion of between 2012 and 2013.

There is no evidence the president acted on those concerns.

By 2012, he said the situation had gone worse that the government made more money from tax paid by oil companies than from actual sales of crude.

“This means, Your Excellency, that in this first seven months of the year, taxes accounted for 76 % of the total inflow from this sector, while NNPC crude oil proceeds accounted for 24%,” he said.

The CBN governor called for a thorough audit of all domiciliary accounts held by the NNPC outside of the CBN, and a probe of companies involved in oil lifting and oil swap.

“As banker to the federal government and Economic Adviser to the President,” he said, “I am obliged to draw the president’s attention to these serious issues of which you have most probably never been aware in this detail,” he said.

The Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications, Reuben Abati, was not available for comments. He did not answer several calls made to his telephone. He is believed to be travelling in South Africa with the president, who is attending the funeral of late South African President, Nelson Mandela.

Religion / From Boston To Kano (shaikh Gumi) by lawal123: 8:44pm On Apr 20, 2013
Bothers ad sisters, if we contemplate very well, the Lessons learnt or not learnt from Boston to Kano this week holds the solutions to our insecurity issues in Nigeria.

In Boston, with good intelligence analysis, good governance and genuine cooperation of the local populaces, the terrorist were routed out without any harm in the populace way.

Also in Kano, one of the terrorist was killed by the repellant populace, a good prognosis of the change of things coming.

Therefore people in Nigeria should take on the fight themselves. People have four clearly defined enemies they have to fish out if we want security and peace to return to over neighborhoods. These four enemies are:

1. BH AND THEIR SYMPATHIZERS
2. MEND AND THEIR SUPPORTERS
3. EVIL ELEMENTS OF THE SECURITY OUTFIT
4. BAD GOVERNANCE

Sometimes these four enemies of the people work in unison and cooperate to perpetuate the state of insecurity that gripped the nation since 2011.

As for BH, every district should aspire to flush out suspicious people and document strangers. People should never allow strangers into their homes- how many people were shot or slaughtered by strangers. The claims by BH of establishing the sharia is known to everybody to be diabolical. Since there is no obstacle to Sharia Implementation in the Northern sharia states except of course the general ignorance about sharia itself, the lack of sufficient qualified Sharia court judges and the waning political zeal.

In Kaduna state at one time there was an advertisement for about 80 judges for which only about 27 applied, Allah knows how many were qualified. Of all the boko haram individuals, no one among them stands out as a qualified Qadi to dispense the Sharia law at its basic tenets. Lest anybody is deceived, never was any government or non-Muslim an obstacle to sharia but our own doing.

As for MEND individuals, their direct influence can be very limited as they can easily be apprehended if people are up to the task. That is if they decided to be active outside the sphere of their conclave. However, with the amnesty money flowing out if their pockets, their danger lies in their ability to finance terrorist groups. Some Chadians, Malians, Nigeriens and some northern Cameroonians are all there for the bidder. It is a catchment area for terrorist, assassins, robbers and criminals.

MEND should be taught that petroleum does not anymore become a local commodity for an ethnic group to monopolize. It is the pivot of strategic survival of many nations. If they want to deny their black brethren they cannot surely deny their Oyinbo masters. Is it then not enough for them, their enslavement in the southern plains of USA? Do they still extend free petrol power to the same masters that exploited them in the last century? Yet deny their kinsmen? They better wake up from daydreaming. Nobody can deny anybody the bounties of the earth. They should also know that, it is the rest of the Nigerians that are tolerant of them, with their instincts to criminality acknowledged worldwide, who wants to be a citizen with criminals? They should know that to share a country with them, they do nobody any favors.

As for the danger posed by the Evil elements of the security outfit it is unfortunately real. They are those that hide behind the uniform and harm the society because of ethnic or religious bigotry. They kill suspects with impunity and frame the innocents. People should document the security agents in their locality for the sake of posterity. I just heard that Musharraf is under house arrest. Nobody is above the law all the time.

As for Bad governance, it’s the pinnacle of the problem. Because with good governance, all these other groups can be effectively neutralized.

So as we watch out for bad elements in our society, whether, BH or MEND or BAD eggs of the security agents or BAD Governance, people should come together and bail out themselves from this servitude to evil people.

Allah Helps those who help themselves. “ ‘O ye who believe! if ye will support (the cause of) Allah, He will support you, and plant your feet firmly.” Q47/7.

May Allah protect us all from all Evil. Ameen!
Politics / Sheik Gumi Kicks Against Amnesty For Boko Haram, Says They Ought To Be Crushed by lawal123: 12:44pm On Mar 27, 2013
Dr. Ahmad Gumi, fearless cleric and son of the late famous Sheik Abubakar Mahmoud Gumi, today kicked against amnesty for the Boko Haram sect as has been proposed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III and several prominent Nigerians, saying they ought to be crushed.

Gumi who once escaped being killed by some suspected terrorists, made the remarks in a sermon monitored in our New York office from his social media network.

In it, Gumi declared that were Prophet Mohammed himself to be alive today, he would personally have led the way in exterminating the sect.

“Every individual in this nation is concerned about the future,” he stressed. “Nigeria is catalytically deteriorating. Today the national discourse is on corruption and amnesty for terrorism.”

He noted that many people have missed the crux of the matter. “Corruption is incurable, it is only suppressed. That is by genuine ethics/faith illumination campaigns like the ethical revolution, War Against Indiscipline, Re-brand Nigeria etc. and …an effective system of accountability (i.e. checks and balances) or what can be summed up as good governance.”

Turning to the Boko Haram insurgency, he described it as hypocritical, pointing out that as an ideology, Boko Haram respects no law, the Quran or Hadith or Scholarly fatwa. “They have their own interpretation, anything short of that is part of the enemy that should be killed. So on what basis should there be dialogue or amnesty? It is a creed that must be crushed; it is a creed the prophet – alaihis Salam- wished he is alive to exterminate.”

Sheik Gumi regretted that the present dispensation in Nigeria lacks the moral high ground to defeat the militants, otherwise that objective would already have been achieved. In that regard, he pointed out that more innocent people have been killed, maimed, tortured and incarcerated by the JTF in the name of fighting Boko Haram than by Boko Haram itself or those camouflaging behind them. “A whole region is made to suffer economically, socially and politically because of this blind war on terror. The present dispensation has everything to gain in refusing the ‘amnesty’ call for political reasons; that is why it is recalcitrant. Otherwise, if the need to crush Boko Haram is genuine, it would have been achieved since.”

Instead, he called for a “selected Muslim high-ranking officer” of the armed forces take charge of the whole ‘operation’ from investigations to incursions, arguing that the situation requires careful excision and only someone who feels the pains of society has the capacity can carry it out.

“Like removing a tumor from the brain, you don’t give that to an orthopedic surgeon, no matter how good, to do that. It is an operation of precision not brute force. This choice of tackling a peculiar problem is the sign of good governance. Special missions have special requirements if success is the objective.”

Sheik Gumi pointed out that Boko Haram consists of armed individuals hiding in a civilian population.

“They do not control any high fire power to be engaged in a war,” he said.

“Therefore there is absolutely no need whatsoever to deploy and ultimately exhaust the military in road blocks all over the spheres of their activities. What are needed are very good intelligence, special strike squads and the genuine cooperation of the civilian population which can never be achieved through intimidation.”

He warned that because the issue is being tackled with “the impulses of vengeance and retaliation” as is currently the case, the entire saga is gradually turning into another thing all together.

“This is what makes the future bleak and frightening,” he stressed.

Politics / Repent And Resign, Gumi Tells ‘evil’ Jonathan;says IBB, Obasanjo, Buhari, Atiku, by lawal123: 11:55pm On Jan 23, 2013
Fearless Islamic scholar, Sheik Ahmad Gumi has declared  President  Goodluck Jonathan “evil” and a failure, and called on him to repent and resign in order to recreate peace in Nigeria.
He also said that many top former military Heads of State, Generals  Yakubu Gowon, Muhammadu Buhari and Ibrahim Babangida be banned from participating in active Nigerian politics.
Gumi was speaking in a morning sermon today in Kaduna titled “The Man Jonathan,” underlining that the sermon was neither criticism nor praise of a man.
“It is our faith,” he said. “I mean Islamic faith that looks at every creature of Allah critically to pass a judgment on whether it is Godly or Evil. This is how things are categorized. The angels spearheaded by Gabriel are the Godly spirits while the Evil spirits are spearheaded by Satan.
But when it comes to humans, Godliness can be marred in Evil and Evil can be marred in Godliness, therefore what we have is a spectrum of which the extremes are clear cut and demarcated either white or black while the center is grey.”
He said that Islam teaches that all prophets and people of God are in the Right extreme of the spectrum, while those that fight, oppose and suppress them or their mission are in the left extreme apparently the black.
He said that the Good can hide or find itself in the middle of Evil and vice versa, drawing attention to verses from the Bible that read:  “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves,” and “For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.”
Similarly, he said, the Muslim traditions also warn, “In end of times there will be false prophets telling you of things never heard by you or your parents, beware of them lest they misguide you and try you;” and also, “Beware of innovations…The most evil of things are innovations for every innovation is misguidance.”
In that regard, Sheikh Gumi stressed that religious innovators and innovations that change the content or the aim of the divine message is the Evil that sneaked into all the Abrahamic faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and that this fact prompted Islamic scholars from the beginning to have a profile of every individual that relates to scholarship or preaching and leadership.
“These voluminous masses of unique profile documentations are still preserved and updated to date,” he said. “Any Muslim can be categorized with these tags as: trustworthy/reliable/dependable/honest /unknown/liar / fabricator/dubious/deceptive/confused/not worth a cent/ etc.
This ability of Muslims to recognize that evil can creep into them, made the intra-Islamic conflict necessary so that the truth can never be hidden or marred in evil. It became necessary that each human being should be stripped off of everything superficial, attached, gained or ascribed to him and be seen as a homo-sapien first and foremost before passing a judgment on him. That is why it is absolutely necessary to know the man first before you judge whether he is godly or evil.”
Turning to Jonathan using that prism, Sheik Gumi noted that through his  faith, if he looked at Jonathan the man, not the president, he would not do the man any justice since he does not know him and I have never met him.
“I can only deduce from what I hear about him, he said, quoting, ‘Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?’”
He said what stirred his interest in examining who Jonathan is relates to the allegation by Henry Okah, Jonathan’s “kinsman”, who was yesterday  convicted in a South African court of involvement in terrorism.
He drew attention to a report on the BBC website(http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21119470), dated October 5, 2010, and another on the Aljazeera English channel of a live interview with Mr. Okah 'Ex-MEND leader,' who implicated Jonathan through a presidential aide who wanted Okah to tell the armed group MEND to withdraw a claim for deadly blasts in Abuja.
Sheik Gumi quoted Okah’s words, "On Saturday morning, just a day after the attack, a very close associate of President Jonathan called me and explained to me that there had been a bombing in Nigeria and that President Jonathan wanted me to reach out to the group, MEND, and get them to retract the earlier statement they had issued claiming the attacks.  They wanted to blame the attacks on northerners who are trying to fight against him [Jonathan] to come back as president and if this was done, I was not going to have any problems with the South African government…I declined to do this and a few hours later I was arrested. It was based on their belief that I was going to do that that Jonathan issued a statement saying that Mend did not carry out the attack."(http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2010/10/2010105115843516850.html).
Gumi described these as the “shocking words” of Okah, noting that earlier, Jonathan said investigations had revealed MEND knew nothing about the attacks, and that the bombings had been carried out by a small group based outside Nigeria, sponsored by "unpatriotic elements within the country."
“This [was] while innocent people were [being] arrested by the SSS to augment his presidential political ambition.  The conviction of Okah to me is the conviction of MEND as the first terrorist bomb attack the nation witnessed, which Jonathan hastily using the SSS to exonerate and implicate innocent people. Was he misled into that?”
He described the scenario as exactly the dilemma Jesus Christ went through - the persecution of an innocent man of God in the hands of people that claim piety and speak on behalf of God.
“This is an anti-Christ activity. It is shameful. This incidence has made me not see Jonathan on the right of the spectrum. He can still be good but he is definitely marred in Evil. Evil that either directly kills innocent people or Evil that masks killers or Evil that takes advantage from the murder of the innocents for political gains.
“If Jonathan should be a true man of God, let him repent and step down. That will [shed] the evil that permeated his regime and committed so much sin against humanity. An amnesty International report has affirmed to that.”
Sheik Gumi said that the move would “stale (sic) any pretext of Boko Haram, the Evil that permeated Islam -that ravening grievous wolves in sheep's clothing.”
Describing Boko Haram as either genuinely a northern political ploy as claimed or a smear from the clandestine Security agents for  [Jonathan’s]  political advantage or strategic metamorphosis of MEND and their agenda, he said Jonathan’s resignation will save lives and the nation.
“His resignation will promote peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians. It will bring back glory to the nation Nigeria. He will then probably be a ‘Christ’ of Nigeria or the last Evil that wrecked the nation. But as he resigns, the national assembly should promulgate a law - looking at the political situation of the nation- for early elections and banning all the former heavy weight politicians from all parties from politics and vying for political positions.
He named such people as Gen. Gowon, Gen. Obasanjo, Gen. Buhari, Gen. Babangida, Gen Abdulsalam, and Alh. Abubakar Atiku.
“They should be statesmen,” Gumi urged. “Let Nigeria breed a new crop of leaders and politicians. The healthy state of the nation should supersede the personal ambitions of individuals or groups. We all have to give and take. That is if we reflect!  May Allah shower us with His Blessings and bring peace to our Nation. Ameen. http://mobile.saharareporters.com/news-page/repent-and-resign-gumi-tells-‘evil’-jonathansays-ibb-obasanjo-buhari-atiku-must-be-banned-
