efemena5050: i 'll quote u....... Seems u like fight and quarrel........u seem daring ......ur contending my point which is verified......first class in Federal university is better much appreciated to me than private university due to the daunting and far reaching strides one needs to attain which is not obtainable in private school..... I'm glad you said it is more appreciated to "you". Guess what, a first class graduate from an approved private university and a first class graduate from a federal university are both regarded as equal within and outside Nigeria. |

efemena5050: Yoruba in a Yoruba private university...where they write their carry over with their core courses.....I don't rep private university.....if she had hedged this in Federal university at lest a semblance of respect and recognition would have been given..........private universities are like private schools where the teachers are chastised for failing any child..........some fools with comprehension deficiencies will soon come and quote me out of context ...watch out ..... I will quote you. 1. In every federal university, as long as the course you failed is not a prerequisite to the course you're to take in a semester, you can write your carryover course together with your core course. 2. In your first point, you mentioned private school students write carryover course with core course. If their teachers will be chastised for failing them, that means there won't be carryover in the first instance na. Go check out how both Convenant and Afe Babalola uni(both private unis) rank in the top 5 unis in Nigeria; above many federal unis |

You believe this overhype noñsense, nobody can graduate from uversity at 19, primary school 6years, secondary school 6years , Jamb 1 year that is 13 years university 4 years that 7 years . Did he start primary at age 1.? 1. Some students write common entrance from Primary 4 or 5. 2. Some students also get double promotion in primary and/or secondary school. 3. Some students write Jamb from SS2. 4. Jamb doesn't take 1 year. You can write Jamb same year you finished secondary school and still gain admission to university that same year too. Start primary 1 at age 5, primary school being 5 years, secondary school being 5 years, university being 4 years gives a total of 19 years. 1 Like |

wallrichy: More reason that parents should hustle and send your children to private university in Nigeria cos 4 yrs is 4yrs unlike federal universities where 4 yrs is 6 to 7yrs or even 12 Yrs. Most Nigerian are smart and intelligent but the system always frustrate the living daylights out of them. Congrats young graduand. Hope your parent will do everything humanly possible to prevent you from doing your NYSC in terrible and unsafe regions of Nigeria. They need to protect you so that their labour and care for ages wouldn't just disappear at the tap of a finger. My advise, Serve in a good region which for now is the South west and that's especially Lagos or Osun and Oyo but incase these ain't possible, please forget serving any gaddem country...Nija ain't worth serving anyway especially if you ain't planning to enter politics or desire post. Please what's the benefit of serving in either of these 3 states?? |

ibechris: Attending the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) is a path to employment in the Nigerian Army or other branches of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Here are some key points to note ¹: - The NDA is a military university that trains officer cadets for commissioning into the Nigerian Army, Navy, or Air Force. - The five-year program includes four years of academic studies and one year of military training. - Cadets who complete the program are awarded a bachelor's degree and commissioned as second lieutenants (or equivalent) in their respective services. - Employment in the Nigerian Army or other branches of the Armed Forces is not automatic but is highly likely after completing the program. - The NDA has a strong reputation, and its graduates are highly sought after in the military and other fields. AI go cause wahala Meanwhile, they run military and academic training simultaneously |

Write the GMAT and score at least 750. As an African, that is a very high score. Apply to schools in the Texas/Geogia area, plenty Nigerians dey that side. No it doesn't, you can go for MSc in information management, data science for example, but like I said my opinion is mine you can do more research on your own ,so that you don't end up as surplus, as the market is already Saturated. Things are changing, more technology is being deployed for ease of doing business from soft to hard work For example traditionally 2 or more people are employed to drive a semi truck which is referred to as trailer in Naija, but here in the state it's 1 one person from start to finish, verse majority of the jobs available depends largely on technology and now AI is taking over the job market and you will be coming to compete with people who's have experience and education here in the state, In essence you need more than enough preparation to break into the market but not impossible, if I can do it you too can do it Thank you so much! The emboldened is what made me quit learning web development. The market saturation doesn't give room for entry level. Even experienced computer science grads in the US are complaining on Reddit. |

Yaasir: Don't be discouraged. Just make your profile to be competitive. However, don't let people tell you that it is either STEM or first class. Rather, it is how best you can project your profile and fit for the school. That is where your extensive research comes in. You must comb for as many schools as possible ( I am not kidding). I have 2 siblings who fell for this STEM and First class misinformation but did not even get admission not to talk of scholarships until I format their brains. First class in Mathematics and Economics. Your SOP is the game changer. Don't get me wrong, your grade must be good but it won't just earn you admission based on that except you can bring it to perspective. SOP is what brings every aspect of your applications together. You must understand how to make sense of your transcript. They won't do it for you. The more relevant courses you can bring together to prove your case, the better. Understood Sir, thank you! But do you have an idea of what a competitive profile should be? Considering I'm going for Masters. I understand I'll need to research but your input is just as valuable. And I may not get the chance to ask questions like I'm doing now. |

It won't, education and learning here are different and resources are abound everywhere for you to exploit. It's just my opinion, and it's out of my personal experience . Just research well so that you don't end up wasting your scarce resources. Special skills are required here not like those regular courses, don't get me wrong it all depends on you,am not here to scare or advise you wrongly
Thank you. An important information is missing from my post so let me say it here. I already have B. Sc in a mgt science course. I'm looking to do M. Sc. I think this puts me in an even more complex situation. Does your advice still hold? i.e doing Masters in those above courses(sounds somehow based on my background). |

Yes, there are more scholarships for STEM studies and graduates than management as STEM fields power/fuel the global economy. It is why I keep hammering on mathematics - folks who know mathematics or studied math based courses wouldn't find it hard to get the best jobs or scholarships.
For management grads, again, GRE/GMAT - the higher the score, the higher your chances of being considered. The same applies to TOEFL. Please don't listen to anyone who says you should apply for a TOEFL waiver. You can do so, but only if your GMAT/GRE verbal score is very high. Otherwise, write TOEFL and score at least 100. You are a native speaker of the language as you were born with it. You are competing against Europeans, Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese and native Americans. You are going for a war, so you should be prepared.
First step is perusing the websites of interested universities and their departments, check for their admission requirements and professors you desire to work with, check sources of funding for international students etc. No source of funding for foreign students? Jump and pass. Prepare to send email asking well-thought out questions. No go ask questions wey the information dey the website o.
To seive through schools, use the Wikipedia entries of R1 and R2 universities. Thank you very much for taking your time to respond. At the risk of sounding like I'm asking too much, do you have a glimpse of how I can stay back please? What options do I have? I know H1b visa is tough and even tougher for non-stem grads. Try tuition free countries like Germany.
I saw stuffs like one will need to be at least B2/C1 German to get jobs in my field. Also, the pay there is little compared to the US. A lot of people there can't afford to be home owners except in remote areas because of low income, even in my field. |
