I believe the IT being offered in Covenant and UNIVEN are the same because they use the same curriculum as approved by NUC .

I also believe the Covenant student has access to well equipped Library where he can carry out personal research after class. The UNIBEN student can also carry out his own personal research albeit under a different condition entirely.

In the long run I believe if both students pass their exams and graduate in good grades they can offer the same knowledge to their would-be employers .

I believe I’ve answered ur question.

Having the same curriculum doesn't mean you have the same content.
The difference is what covenant builds upon and offers in their courses compared to government universities.
The curriculum is the foundation, each uni is meant to build on that hence where the difference lies.

This is outside better libraries, better learning conditions which include less tired lecturers who are subjected to checks and balances alot more than government uni lecturers.
No strikes to derail you.
Better security which leads to safer learning environment.

During NYSC where I served , the less exposed guy in our midst was a graduate of Novena University , a private in Delta state . A lady who studied Yoruba education for TASUED in our midst was more exposed and knowledgeable than him.

The experience and quality of education defer. You went to a private university, you surely cannot comprehend some of the things those that attended federal or some state universities face.

Thankfully the state uni I went to dont usually admit alot of students yearly, for example in my faculty management science, Accounting (my set) had the highest intake and we were around 110 or so, banking and finance was 40+, I'm not even sure if Business administration was up to 40. So I cant really relate with alot of those that went to public uni and attend class in a crowded hall because for 90% of the time I was in Uni, my experience wasn't so except for the GNS and French lectures that we have combined class.

We had lecturers that were teaching 3 or more departments which most times make some of them miss classes due to exhaustion. Our own department lecturer were not even up to 5, we share the rest with Banking n Finance.

When I was President of my department and went to Redeemers Uni to talk to their own Accounting department President, I realise that we are lagging behind a lot. While their own association chapter was recognized by ICAN, ACCA and the likes and they attend their conferences and all, we have no such privileges. Infact the seminar that I held while I was President and invited the then ICAN President, he didnt come and sent Osun State Chapter Chairman for the event.

They (Redeemers) also had many lecturers compared to us, they also have relaxation areas, sporting complex, a big library that makes ours (That we usually use to make mouth) looks like a joke.

All these are part of what differentiate the experiences that those that attended my school and Redeemers uni will get.

I don't understand how 1st class students passing ICAN is supposed to be a shocking thing or them getting employment.
Would you like to compare the benefits of your students to what 1st class graduates from say Covenant will have especially across board.

There's a course called energy and Petroleum studies offered by a private university in Delta state. But it's not in any other university.

It is NUC approved.


Universities are allowed to build on the existing structure. You just need to apply and have the NUC approve after carrying out their investigations.
That is what differentiates the private universities from the government universities in that situation.
