Culture / Re: How Did You Learn Your Language? by LongOne1(m): 4:06pm On Aug 10, 2012
klas: ^^^ what language is vernacular?

Vernacular in this context is the same as pidgin, which is the same as broken English. Moreover, I was monkeying around.
Romance / Re: What Controlz Men Most? by LongOne1(m): 2:59pm On Aug 10, 2012
You forgot to mention pride and maybe arrogance.

These two might come with money, but it’s ultimately the male ego that controls and occasionally destroys men.
Family / Re: Prenuptial Agreements Vs Gold Diggers: How Effective? by LongOne1(m): 2:25pm On Aug 10, 2012
The moral of the story, in my opinion is not to give gifts to your wife in her name if there is a pre-nuptial agreement.
In this case, the pre-nup will still be necessary, as she won’t be able to keep your gold even if she has access to it.

As for your second question, yes I guess.

Usually do a little bit of everything, do not commit myself or get addicted to any.
Career / Re: The Link Between Quietness And Productivity At Work by LongOne1(m): 2:13pm On Aug 10, 2012
Still waters run deep…

I am quiet at work, but it’s usually because I don’t want to contribute to their filthy topics or probably as a result of cultural differences.
It does not necessarily mean I am more productive than the others are, though.

Well, I can see why praying makes sense.

With the cocktail of diseases available today, what can I say?
Politics / Re: A Building Collapses In Abuja Kills Three (Pictures) by LongOne1(m): 3:36pm On Aug 08, 2012
Smh at Nigeria, no quality control, no standards, no nothing. Anything goes...

May their souls rest in piece.
Food / Re: Freemason Symbol On Dangote Spaghetti Wrapper? by LongOne1(m): 3:27pm On Aug 08, 2012
I believe the eye symbol is because Vitamin A is needed by the retina of the eye as shown by the ‘A’ alphabet in the picture.

You guys come up with some pretty lame stuff. If you put all these creative abilities into science and technology, I believe Nigeria will become a better place.

Besides, the freemasons will probably kick him out for using some local looking symbol, lol.

“If words are to enter men’s minds and bear fruit, they must be the right words shaped cunningly to pass men’s defences and explode silently and effectually within their minds” – J.B. Philips.

“What a strange illusion to suppose that beauty is goodness” – Leo Tolstoy.

“Everyone, in some small sacred sanctuary of the self, is nuts” – Leo Rosten.

“Dreams have only one owner at a time. That’s why dreamers are lonely” – Erma Bombeck.

“Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you” – William Arthur Ward.

“Life is a foreign language; all men mispronounce it” – Christopher Morley.
Science/Technology / Re: Google Brings Walking Directions To 44 African Countries by LongOne1(m): 11:37am On Jul 12, 2012
Because, most of the walkways aren't defined, it's only in the bigger cities you find genuine ones. In the smaller cities, it will be more of a bush path, which will vary with each season.
Science/Technology / Re: Google Brings Walking Directions To 44 African Countries by LongOne1(m): 10:08am On Jul 12, 2012
Nice, but it probably won’t work in parts of Nigeria where they build anyhow.

Source?

It already happens to an extent. When you Google songs for download, you occasionally get results hidden due to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (D.M.C.A.) because of complaints.

Rules, rules, rules, I’m getting tired of ‘don’t do this, don’t do that’ can I live please?

Even though most of them make sense, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

2buff: You no suppose look woman face regarding certain issues.

U just wan argue, so if i come open thread tomorrow talk say “a man must sow as many wild oats with as many women as he can”, based on the fact say I be man, e automatically dey correct?

Of course, my fellow men go happy with that kind statement, na the women e no go profit. So, na the women dey in a position to address the issue wella, as na dem e dey directly affect.

But that one no mean say their addressing am go yield any issue, their resistance is futile.grin

2buff: Abi you no know say wetin woman dey talk and wetin dem dey actually appreciate na 2 seperate matter entirely?

No be from my mouth u go hear say crayfish bend.grin

2buff: Woe betite the man that takes love advice from a woman, because they would tell you ish like

"In school, carry her books and bag around for her" and all those other things that lead to a solidification of a man's mugu status.

2buff:

Bros, Try not to be so agreeable just because the person you're agreeing with is a female.
So you're saying your father never once chatted with you about man tings and responsibility? If so, Why weren't you skeptical then?

Haba now, what if my papa no be one of the positive male models wey she bin talk about? undecided I nor be behind kisser o!

The point I bin try make be say wetin man (the term ‘man’ being subjective) consider as being a ‘proper’ man, nor be necessarily wetin woman feel.
As na them dey the receiving end (the customer), na them suppose talk. But as she come counter yarn, and as I bin read other female posts, na im I come dey humbled, give you props.

Mrs.Chima:

You will be surprised how many boys need manual to become men. Some boys do not have the positive male role models to guide them into positive male hood.

However....i think being a good person and partner is basic enough to be a good man. Each relationship is different and both partners should be there for each other regardless if one lacks the character of a man or woman.
When you put it that way, I was sooooo wrong, lol.

Kudos to the OP, though I am a bit sceptical about a man telling other men how a man should be. The customer is always right dammit, as such, I would expect this from a woman. Still, OP chop knuckle.

Then again, what if as a man, you are already all these and more?
#Getting, that, dirt of my shoulder, Jay-Z style.
Music/Radio / Re: What Music Are You Listening To Right Now? by LongOne1(m): 4:36pm On Jul 09, 2012
Laibach – Under the Iron Sky (Iron Sky Soundtrack).

MsDarkSkin:
cool cool
We escaped growing up in the Soulja Clown, Lil Cheesy and Justin Booger era! grin

Hahaha, yeah, these days it is auto-tune plus ‘fine boy’ mentality without the necessary hip-hop lyrical prowess.

I mean, hip-hop used to be motivational, containing ancient wisdom. Unfortunately, nowadays, it seems the industry promotes negative imagery and lyrics and suppresses anything positive.

The love I am talking about is something many of you will never experience nor wouldn't know if it stuck to your arse. It is pure and wholesome.

Okay.
Romance / Re: Family Background And Relationships by LongOne1(m): 11:40am On Jul 06, 2012
A tricky one, but I think it depends more on the individual, which is why I feel one should be exposed to other cultures and ways of doing things to have a broad-minded perspective of life.
Then, the person’s values will be based on personal experience, allowing them to eliminate the traits they feel are not right.

People from similar family backgrounds have married, yet still divorced and vice-versa. Therefore, I don’t think anything should be written in stone as there are no guarantees in life, apart from death.
Romance / Re: How To Be A MAN Dammit! >:( by LongOne1(m): 11:08am On Jul 06, 2012
Smh, so now, you need a manual to become a man.
Music/Radio / Re: What Music Are You Listening To Right Now? by LongOne1(m): 11:16am On Jul 03, 2012
Since you guys are going old school hip hop:

Dru down – Can’t you feel me.

Kriss Kross – Da streets ain’t right.

Luniz – I got five on it.

Sam Sneed feat. Dr. dre – You better recognise.

Big ups to all those who rocked the 90’s (the best years ever) like some of us did.

Mrs.Chima:
The right definition of love ISN'T OVERRATED...

So, what is the right definition? Your view is highly appreciated.

Sapphiredamsel: yeah, what i mean was dat d word 'love' is being overused &doesnt have d effects it ought to.earlier 2day,i got a call 4rm ma litu bro.mind u,he is just 17.he told me he loves a particular gurl.dis is d fifth tym he wi call 2tel m he loves a gurl-different gurls.what am i as a sister shud tell him 2do? Well,i said just two words;Be Careful....

It takes maturity to understand what love is, definitely not what one experiences during teenage years, I mean with raging hormones and all, more of infatuation in his case.

Sapphiredamsel:

I wi appr8 if evry1 here cud tel m wat love means 2them.

Love is all-encompassing, most importantly seeing someone for who they are, weaknesses, failings and all, yet still wanting to be with them.

I also stammer, but very few people know this.

It’s all about your emotions, things like anger, nervousness or excitement can make one stammer. If you learn how to control these emotions, it will be easier for you to talk normally.

Talk slowly and calmly and try to visualize the word you are about to say or picture yourself saying it, believe me it helps.
