![]() Ever wondered why some businesses seem to get all the customers while their competitors struggle? It is not jazz! That's the power of branding. Do you know what a brand is? Somebody said a brand is a logo! Nope, a brand is what people say about you when you're not in the room. In other words, a brand is how you make people feel when they come in contact with you or when they remember you. Branding has been a differentiating factor between success and failure. Fun fact: It is not only companies and businesses that need a brand. Even as an individual, you can also grow a personal brand. Whether you like it or not, as long as you, your business or organization exists, you're building a brand - whether actively or passively. You can take control of your brand and win the hearts of your customers and audience or you can leave your brand to chance and let people think what they want about you. Which would you rather have? So how do you build a brand? Luckily for you, that's what I covered in the latest edition of my podcast where I talk about how to build a successful brand in Nigeria. On this episode, I talk about: 3 qualities of a great brand How to determine your brand values How to identify your most passionate audience and win their hearts turning them into loyal customers and fans that will buy from you What you need to do to ensure that your brand never dies. Check it out here Ensure you subscribe to the podcast so you never miss an episode and leave us a positive review. |

Members of the ruling PDP have blasted Professor Yemi Osibanjo, running mate to APC‘s presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari. Osibanjo had visited his village, showing the press where he grew up as a boy. However a photo showing a man with a striking resemblance to the vice presidential aspirant is what is being used against him by the PDP. It was earlier reported that the man who was looking unkempt in contrast to the well dressed and neat Osibanjo is his father. However, it was reported that the man is an elder brother to Osibanjo.Osibanjo-brother-PDP Trust the PDP to find a thumbscrew in order to nail their opponent, they’re accusing him of utter neglect of his immediate family. Their statement reads: “What is the difference between someone’s father and his brother, that Yemi Osibanjo will neglect them, even when he has been blessed by God as a Pastor, senior partner at SimmonsCooper Partners, a Professor, 8 years as Tinubu’s Attorney General, director in Bola Tinubu’s Alpha Beta Limited. How can you manage a country, when you can’t take care of your relatives?“ - See more at: http://www.naijawhistle.com.ng/pdp-blast-osibanjo-over-unkempt-state-of-his-brother/#sthash.AavLl1vz.dpuf 6 Likes |

So after all the great ideas and contributions discussions just fizzled out without any update? I want to believe something substantial has been achieved so far and the OP has moved the thread to a more secure place for serious people. If not it will be too sad that with so much enthusiasm, the whole idea ended up another talk without work project on nairaland 1 Like |

Funny tales indeed. From these stories all I see is Nigerians are their own enemies. For God's sake you all want to travel out of the country and you go to the embassy to quarrel and abuse people and even try to ensure you're the only one who gets a visa . What happened to minding your own business? No wonder Nigerians abroad say they avoid each other. I never apply for visa before as there's no reason to travel yet but when I wan travel them go approve am. 23 Likes 3 Shares |

![]() It seems the children of Nigerian billionaires have love for music and Djing. From Davido and most recently DJ Cuppy, these privileged children choose to use daddy or mummy’s money to buy a name for themselves in the top spot of the Nigerian music industry and one common characteristic among them is going from relatively unknown to household name and superstar in no time. You’ll normally find them at choice events, mingling with other celebrities and it doesn’t matter if its in New York, London or Lagos. A few years back, when DJ Xclusive first appeared in the Nigerian music scene, little was known of his roots only that he’s a London educated young man with very good looks. Perhaps only a few would have known that DJ Xclusive is son to Folorunsho Alakija, Africa’s richest woman who is worth $2 Billion dollars if he had not been featured by Business Insider on the World’s hottest billionaire offspring. DJ Xclusive, born as Rotimi Alakija is 3rd on the list and was featured alongside Sofia Abramovich, daughter of Russian billionaire and Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich. Other billionaire children featured were Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric Trump, children of real estate magnate Donald Trump. How DJ Xclusive was able to hide his influential family connections, we don’t know but the fact remains he’s one of the hottest guys in the Nigerian entertainment scene today. read more http://www.naijawhistle.com/dj-xclusive-exposed-folorunsho-alakijas-son/ |

Following the unpredictable nature of Nigerian politicians and reacting to rumours that former FCT minister Mallam Nasir El’ Rufai will decamp from APC and join the PDP just like his close ally Nuhu Ribadu, EL Rufai’s son Bello has reacted to the news. Bello, in a tweet said he will not stand by his father’s side if he dares defect from APC to PDP. As if a son’s threat stops a scheming father who is an avid politician. Let’s watch and see as the drama unfolds. A silent battle for superiority might be brewing between top Nigerian entertainment brands the NET and pulse as Osagie Alonge, a top editor with the Adekunle Ayeni owned net has ditched the platform where he has been editor for 3 years for the relatively new Swedish family owned website Pulse.ng. Osagie took to his Instagram page to announce the switch to shocked followers who responded in disbelief, before going ahead to wish him well. The news is coming as a shocker as Osagie is believed to own some little shares at The NET, where he has been the main player running the platform with owner Ayeni Adekunle taking the back seat and concentrating more on his P.R agency BHM. However, an insider told Naija Whistle that Osagie might have earlier hinted on his intentions to leave NET as even while he was still there, it was widely speculated that he was secretly writing for another entertainment platform. read morehttp://www.naijawhistle.com/breaking-osagie-alonge-ditches-net-pulse-ng-hes-leaving-exclusive/ |

The emergence of new media and technology has changed the way we live, interact, disseminate information and stay updated with the current happenings in our areas of interest. Thanks to digital technology, the birth of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, Instagram and Youtube, information spread is now faster. Traditional media outlets like newspaper, radio and T.V is becoming obsolete as new media is gaining wide acceptance. In fact, you’ll first hear of a news on social media before it is out in the main media sold the following morning. ![]() No matter your kind of business, you’re 70 percent likely to find your target audience online. This is good news for the brands and public figures as new media and technology has made P.R relatively cheap and cost effective. Since we know where our targeted audience hang out, we can always go there to meet them. Fortunately, this doesn’t have to be a physical meeting which is good if you’re a shy person. From the comfort of your home, you can easily interact and pass a message to a large audience who can immediately share the word with the click of a button. That is how breaking news go viral. Having said this, the question is how will you leverage these social media platforms to brand yourself, communicate effectively and promote your image as a public figure? By public figure I mean an artiste, a model, an actor or actress, a politician, musician, a company, product or an individual who would like to gain prominence by having a large following who are endeared and listen to you. You want them to feel what you feel and and do what you ask them to. It's simple. You’ll have to see yourself as that individual, celebrity or product first. Now branding is the experience you want people to feel at anytime they come in contact with you. The emotions they feel and what they remember you for. Some people this packaging. However, packaging is just a little aspect of branding. For you to be a successful brand, you need to inculcate 3 qualities: 1. Relevance – The value you’re adding to your select audience or followers (entertainment, great service etc) 2. Uniqueness – What stands you out from people offering the same or similar services (your person should subtly tell why they should pick you over others) 3.Consistency – Your audience and followers have to experience the same thing anytime they come in contact with you. You don’t want to be seen as a well polished individual today and be seen as a tout tomorrow. This is not good for your brand. You have to make consistent efforts to pass the same perception every day. Now that we know what social media is about and we know the 3 elements of a great brand, here’s how to brand yourself on popular social media platforms. - See more at: http://www.naijawhistle.com/branding-public-nigeria-figure-using-social-media/ |

For any online platform the tendency of scam is 50-50. I've successfully used OLX to sell and had satisfied buyers. The security checks on the site is very poor that is why pay on delivery is always advised to avoid issues like this. If you must buy something that expensive online, use a site with better security features n escrow payment system. My thoughts. |
