The event is an annual event. I was sponsored by my organization. I uploaded letter of invitation, pay slip and letter of introduction from my organization. i did not upload bank statement. I went last year and spent 1 week and came back though i didn't go for the main event i got the visa for last year due to vfs holding my passport for 2 weeks but i attended another event late last year hosted by the same agency with the 6 months visa. I do not have a USA Visa. I have no plans to japa either. All my colleagues also got theirs within the same time frame as mine last year, those who submitted at VFS Abuja got theirs within 1 week while vfs held mine for 2 weeks after submission last year and i complained on this forum. Another thing is the agency hosting the event wrote to the embassy last year before our application to notify them that we were going to apply. The letter had our names, date of birth and passport number. Hope this clarifies the comments. 3 Likes

Education / Re: Two Nigerian Universities Break Into Africa's Top 10 by Lyoncrescent: 5:00pm On Feb 11 |
Yungmil: Education is meant to be relevant not difficult. All this talk about how hard it is to get first class in a particular university has zero correlation to the quality of education. Take the 2:1 person to Harvard and see if the person won’t perform then take the first class oyinbo Harvard graduate to your UNN and see if the person will have first class. Does that mean UNN is better than Harvard ? 4 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / Re: Why Bosun Tijani's Ministerial Nomination Should Not Be Condemned by Lyoncrescent: 11:32pm On Aug 05, 2023 |
The guy gave all those insults cos he was frustrated according to him. If he's confirmed, he should be prepared for premium frustration depending on the ministry he's appointed to head. The civil servants are the most difficult people to work with. They know the terrain . The civil servants are the barracks while the ministers are the soldier go soldier come. It will be interesting to see how he performs. Most people think being competent and intelligent is enough to succeed as a minister or As the Head of a Government agency. That's not enough o. Managing civil servants and unions and changing the status quo is where the real work is. 3 Likes |

Amo12345: I submitted my Payslip as additional document. I submitted a letter from my organisation stating they will pay for the entire trip. I also submitted a letter of invitation sent by the organisation in Canada. Also submitted soft copy of my NIN. That's all I submitted. I did not attach my bank statement. I did not attach any property documents. However the copy of the letter of invitation I submitted was sent to the Canadian high commission in Nigeria by the organisation in canada before I made the application. All the best. 2 Likes |

Eniiyanu1: If the summer school can contact the Canadian high commission in nigeria directly with a letter stating your intention amd your name and passport number and date of birth in the letter and send to them via fax or mail or post, then maybe it will help. That's what was done for me however i had a copy of the letter before my application and we all made sure the letter was sent first to the canadian high commission before we applied.i attached a copy of the letter to my application as my letter of invitation. However I also work with a federal government agency and my company was to fully sponsor my trip. The difference may be i did all these before application but you have applied already 1 Like |

Please if the mods and major contributors can look into this. I think if possible the first post of the first page of this thread should have some information pinned that can help new people as its not easy to go through 700 pages. Information like the new portal , old portal, whether to submit passport at Abuja vfs or lagos vfs. Which emails addresses one can use to send complaints, use of webforms and how to track applications and maybe abbreviations and other general related information . It can be updated from time to time . This will help people to have a glance of the process based on all of our experiences instead of going through 700 pages . Thanks 9 Likes |

gimakon2: New portal. Applied May 18 2023. Got PPR May 26. The conference organiser wrote to the Deputy Canadian High Commiission and all so maybe that's why it was fast. But out of 8 of us, only 3 in Abuja have visas . The rest of us in the center of excellence are still waiting 1 Like |

omoMessiah: Thanks for this information. It's a big lesson cos I only need the visa for the conference and nothing else. Conference is 5 days and starts this monday. No plans to japa . Whenever they are done they should sha return the passport. Its just painful as my organisation would have given me a nice travel allowance . Na that one dey pain me and also the papers I had to present at the conference will now be presented by someone else. Its all good. How I wish VFS can make this your explanation above known to people so they can now choose where to submit. Application /Biometric Collection Letter May 18 BVL and PPR May 26 If I knew what you just posted above I won't have Submitted to Lagos VFS May 29. Even if I have to fly to Abuja to submit , it would have been better |

anselmvictor: Is it this BVL attached below or another BVL. Not sure which one you are referring to. My process was particularly fast but to get the passport back is when everything went slow cos I submitted in Lagos VFS. My colleague in Abuja has same timelines as me. The only difference is he submitted this week Tuesday in Abuja VFS as they didn't open at Abuja VFS on Monday due to inauguration. I submitted at Lagos VFS on Monday the inauguration day. He got back his passport with visa yesterday while I got this message below yesterday. Its so frustrating to say the least. Should have submitted in Abuja Your application, tracking ID No.has been received and is under process at the IRCC Office on Fri Jun 02 2023 Regards, VFS Global

Emmafe was correct Good Morning. I should have submitted at the Abuja VFS. I submitted my passport at Lagos VFS on Monday the 29th of May and I got the message below yesterday morning . My trip is supposed to be this Sunday and is sponsored by my organisation. Don't know what to do again. When I track it , it says it is under processing at the Canadian visa office. Your application, tracking ID has been received and is under process at the IRCC Office on Fri Jun 02 2023. This was the last mail I got. My colleague submitted his passport in Abuja VFS as he's based in Abuja on Tuesday this week and got a message Thursday evening to pick up his passport which he picked up yesterday. My advice for anyone if you want your passport back fast please submit at Abuja vfs. Any idea what I can do as if I can't get it by Monday, I won't be able to go for the conference again. 1 Like |

Good Morning All,Please is there any difference submitting passport in VFS Abuja compared to VFS Lagos in terms of speed in getting the stamped passport back ? VFS Lagos is open today as said above. Also if one wants it stamped same week as submission, can one send an email or webform because the conference the visa is meant for starts next week Monday meaning one has to leave this weekend. Thank you. |
