That NBS statistics na scam... very misleading and dangerous to sincere development, because it doesn’t reflect what is on ground as well as motivate docile groups to wake up from their slumber. Rather they will live with the delusion that all is well, meanwhile they have been left behind. 49 Likes 9 Shares

Politics / Re: Who developed Lagos Ports: Myth Busted. by Maadoo: 1:50pm On May 17, 2020 |
MetaPhysical: I even thought you were smart. In trying to dismiss the effort of those developing Lagos, you also didn't or couldn't prove that yorubas developed Lagos. Who were the ruling elites before independence at the federal level and in Lagos? The colonial masters. Hence they employed the manpower from all tribes to which igbos were heavily represented. Resources were contribute by all region to the federal purse, and of-course, Lagos was the capital of Nigeria and as a British colony, enjoyed unlimited developmental attention. Even at that, In 1954, there was no lekki, there was no Gbagada, there was no Ajao estate, there was no Ajah, there was no Amuwo odofin, there was no Ago palace way, there was no gowon estate, there was no Buckner in Okota. There are so many places that were never in existence in 1913 but exist now. Was it the white man that developed it? The Lagos the white man left at independence is not the same as what it is today except you mean, Lagos hasn’t change since the Whitman left. The real developers of Lagos aside government projects, are the individual real estate developer, converting slums, farmland and settlements to prime real estate quaters, either for commercial or residential use. The industrialist, company Onwers, market man and women keeping the economy running and of course oil money from niger delta oiling there pocket of the government, which it uses to support for roads, water, electricity Development and other amenities. Nigeria had her independence in 1960 and oil boom started in 1970. Cocoa money only developed Ibadan. Third mainland bridge was oil money, cocoa money started OAU in ibadan before moving to its permanent site in Ile ife with A single building serving as the vice chancellors building but now converted to faculty of agriculture. That was the only building constructed with cocoa money. The rest was oil money. 3rd mainland bridge is oil money. The East was controlled by the Eastern tribes with Enugu as it’s capital, West by majorly the yorubas with Ibadan as it’s capital. The same way igbos migrated to Lagos is the same way majority yorubas migrated to Lagos. If you want to talk of Yoruba development. Talk of Ibadan and stop trying to steal or downplay other people’s effort. Ibadan is your shame, deal with it . 9 Likes 3 Shares

Politics / #Throwback, Regional Security Outfits May Split Nigeria...ibrahim Gambari by Maadoo: 1:19am On May 17, 2020 |
Regional security outfits may split Nigeria, says Gambari By Kanayo Umeh and Sadiq Omolaoye, Abuja 02 March 2020 | 3:27 am Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Ibrahim Gambari has cautioned that the establishment of regional security outfits like Operation Amotekun, will cause disintegration of the country. The Nigeria’s former ambassador to the United Nations (UN) also said the cohesion and confidence in the project Nigeria was now shaky, as the country was going through some of its most trying moments in 60 years of nationhood. He noted that several of the challenges facing the nation have their root in history, while others are more recent and unexpected in their origin. Gambari, who is Chairman, Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), spoke in Abuja at an event organized to honour former Defense Minister, General Domkat Bali (rtd.), who recently turned 80. He said Nigerians have to look at solutions to the securing challenges from a national prism, rather than moving regional, adding that there are serious reasons to be worried that the country was not in a good shape. He insisted that no one should be afraid of talking about restructuring, saying, “I am speaking at a time of a deepening sense of loss of national identity in our country where people are embarrassed or shocked and fearful to say they are proud of Nigeria.” Continuing, he said, “The many challenges we are facing are structural in nature. And if the structure is not working, we have a responsibility to make adjustments to the structure for no structure is perfect. “The United States has a longer year of practicing democracy made provisions for a constitutional amendment, so, why is it that we are praying to even agree that a structure that is not working should be adjusted to meet the demand and aspirations of our people. “But for the sectional and regional way we are addressing the challenges, which is not tied to the primacy of the national security apparatus. So, if something is wrong nationally, we should not find solution regionally and even if we are to take regional solution, it should be a temporary arrangement and not a divorce of the national security architecture. “The way we are going, God forbid we will have two countries, north, and South which could be increasingly unequal. I don’t see how that can contribute to the nation of our dreams. I am not a prophet of doom, I have never been and I will never become one. If I was one I would not have been proud and privileged to have served Nigeria during a difficult time for 10 years.” President Muhammadu Buhari described the retired military General as an intelligent officer who had fought for national cohesion. The President, who was represented by Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF), Boss Mustpha, said he had served the country selflessly and passionately and that he truly deserved to be celebrated. https://guardian.ng/news/regional-security-outfits-may-split-nigeria-says-gambari/ |

Do you guys also know that short-let is a Fast growing business in owerri? There are a lot of Unoccupied properties in owerri owned by people living abroad or in Lagos/Abuja or where ever they are. These properties are leased out on short-lets by the managers of the properties. Most of the apartments in Hero’s apartments are on short-let. It’s has been my favourite place for sometime. Whenever my brother is back from Obodo Oyibo , and we want to stay in the city for some days and not village house(big house oo, 12rooms at that), hero’s apartments has been there for us. 24hrs light, well furnished rooms, with kitchen and store, centrally located in the heart of the city, quiet, well secured and nice view at night, especailly if you are at the topmost floor. 5 Likes |

Look at the view, just imagine the number of uncompleted hotels and proposed hotels that are coming up? It’s a waste of time complaining about the number of hotels in Owerri. Owerri has created a niche for itself, let’s deal with it and see how we can improve on it. All Owerri needs now is good and accessible roads, power and security, the rest will take care of itself. 5 Likes

BON HOTEL TRIPOD OWERRI(with a roof top ) Mind you, these are multi national brands rushing down to owerri, just like Protea and Golden Tulips. All these made possible because of the name Owerri has created for itself. This is the same way Benz, or Toyota can decide to site its factory in Nnewi or Timberland opening an outlet factory in Aba. Mind you, Owerri is their third in Nigeria, after Abuja and Lagos 7 Likes

Yampotatocarrot: Taxify has been in Owerri since 2018 https://www.legit.ng/1196445-taxify-launched-ibadan-owerri-offering-20-rides.html https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/10/taxify-begins-operation-in-ibadan-owerri/ I also know poultry business is big in owerri. My cousin’s friend is building a big 5bed bungalow house in his village with it and his poultry is in the village, but supplies Owerri. What baffles me most about hotelling in owerri is that, despite the multitude of hotels, it’s never enough, thereby creating room for more to be built, and also increasing competition in quality and service delivery. |

IGBOSON1: I really don’t think so, I’m very sure many of those factories/companies in nnwei or in Aba are not owned by Anambarians or Abians, to which many will be owned by Imo indigenes too. Investors look for where they will enjoy economics of scale as well. I’m aware Tummy Tummy noddles factory is based in Anambra but the owner of Tummy Tummy is from Imo state, same as orange drugs have a factory in Onitsha, but he is from Imo state. ABC transport is the biggest brand in transport and Cargo in Nigeria today, he is also from Imo. So please, we need to drop these complains, afterall, the investor did his viability and feasibility research, to know which will generate for him the most return on investment, before investing his capital. An imolite can have a tissue paper or soap manufacturing company in Nnewi and build his hotel in owerri. It works well. 2 Likes |

seankafor: Ignorance is a bad thing 1) First of all, no factory will be sited in owerri, except at the outskirts. Government will have to create an industrial zone if there is none. Places like Oguta, ohaji, Awonmama, Mgbidi, Obinze,Naze are fertile zones for industries. 2) The hotels/ Clubs/Bars/Restaurants/ Malls/ Grocery stores/ etc in owerri make up the Hospitality/leisure/Recreational industry. The same way buses(both long distance and intercity), plane, bikes, keke all make up the transport industry. So yes, building an hotel or any of the mentioned is not a waste. People were employed in building them, an architect drew the building plan, someone sold the land, supplied the sand, cement, wood, stones gravel etc. And in running the hotel also, people will be employed as well as other affiliated service will be created 3) Building a power generator is the DUTY of the federal government, not even the state government can. 4) A world class stadium is not a bad idea, but who will build it? Who will use it? Who will maintain it? Does owerri have a competitive advantage in sports and sport affiliated businesses? And who makes the final decision in building such a facility, Government or the private investor? 5) Finally, all states or cities, don’t have to be factory zones. Let Anambra and Abia continue with their factory development, while Ebonyi focus on agriculture and solid minerals. After working and making money, then come down to Owerri or Enugu to enjoy your money. If we build factories in all our cities, we are still going to be the ones to complain about Air and water pollution sometimes in the future. How many factories do you have in Dubai, yet people troop there for work and leisure? Use you head and stop exposing your ignorance. For every hotel or mall or supermarket or whatever that is built, value have been added to the economy of the state, just as value of land have increased.if nigeria was a working country where policies are consistent and functional, do you know how much money can be made from taxes on land use, asides taxes from businesses? 7 Likes |
