Family / The Degrading System Of Education.www.marylouise.com by marielou(f): 7:58pm On Sep 21, 2020
All over the world Nigerians are renowned professionals in all fields, today reverse is the case. The educational system today has reached a deplorable stage, if not addressed it will continue to affect our children. According to vanguard newspaper, Nigeria has lost her glory in the educational system and is occupying number 145 position in primary education advancement in the world records , in the year 2016, and the position of Nigeria University in the world in 2020 is from 1000 plus.

Causes

It’s believed that the standard or quality of education dropped when the former military president general Babangida abolished grade II education which was primarily responsible for training teachers. Some expert says that not everyone who teaches has the methodology of imparting knowledge to student, that grade II teachers were trained to passionately teach student effortless.

Poor teaching condition, teachers not being respected or not giving their place in the society, the lazyness of students in studying. In the 21st century most schools are still using blackboard with chalk in government school, whereas abroad whiteboard and markers are used, also little or no aid materials are provided for Nigerian teachers to assist the learner.

Working condition

Very poor work condition compared to those abroad, teachers in government schools sometimes work in very harsh conditions, only in some private schools that the condition of work is convenient. All the state’s primary and secondary schools are filled with about 50 to 60 student in a class, and the federal schools with 45/50 students. Not enough desks in the class rooms makes students sit 3 or 4 in a desk, no electricity, no practical materials, and no labs equipment. We are in a computer age, most teachers are not computer literate, many state government schools have no computer labs, and most of the teacher’s standard are not upgraded by the government, they have little no access to scholarships and grants. Most teachers in government schools are not giving accommodations, or incentives. Again punishing of student is no more acceptable, most students are so indiscipline and disrespectful making teaching difficult and strenuous, parents encouraging exams malpractices, paying exorbitant amount for it. Many joining the teaching job because of lack of work.

The world has so evolved today that lots of things are taking for granted. Materialism is the other of the day, people want affluence, wealth, and power. It doesn’t matter how they get it as long as they get it, even if they have to take a life to satisfy their selfish needs. I was in the car with some people when someone said that he is happy that the borders are closed because he smuggled in rice which has become very profitable, these kind of people do not care of the millions of people who are suffering because of the closures of borders, those who do genuine business.
Imagine the case of Hushpuppi who stole over $400million through internet fraud and wasn’t satisfied, with the amount of money in his account ,he was still defrauding people because of greed. All the wealthy dine with him, nobody cared to know how he earned his money infact that is how everyone is now, no one cares or questions the source of your income even
Family / How To Live A Fulfilled Life And Achieve Your Potentials by marielou(f): 7:56pm On Jun 05, 2020
Many people are not contented with their situation in life; be it in marriage, work, business or whatsoever. They find themselves doing what they don’t like, day in and out over the years they become depressed and unhappy.

They are a nervous wreck. Little things annoy them. Fear is primary factor that makes them not to take that giant step towards freedom of the mind. Other factors include timidity; indecision, and finally lack of confidence in themselves. Though unhappy in their situation they still cling to it, some even die in their situation without developing their potentials.

First, let’s first understand what fear is and how it can make you live an unfulfilled life

What is fear?

Family / Migrant Sexual Violence Survivors Face Global COVID-19 Threat by marielou(f): 12:23pm On May 20, 2020
Forced migrant survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) face increasingly serious problems – some life-threatening – as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and associated restrictions, a new study reveals.

Researchers found COVID-19’s impact on these people – largely women – and organisations supporting them in the UK, Turkey, Tunisia, Sweden and Australia creates difficulties in daily life that also increase their vulnerability to further abuse and exploitation.

And they are now calling on governments and service providers to take immediate action that ensures forced migrant survivors of SGBV stay as safe as possible during the immediate crisis and beyond.

Experts at the University of Birmingham’s Institute for Research into Superdiversity (IRiS) – working with Refugee Women Connect – have published their findings in a new report, noting that:

Some SGBV survivors are locked down with perpetrators with no access to shelters or advice organisations – enduring abuse and targeted by traffickers or pressured to agree to child marriage.

· Without distractions while in social isolation, women are reliving abuse episodes – increasing anxiety levels, sleep problems and generating thoughts of committing suicide.

· Without the means to access online support services, women who were moving forward with their lives now feel themselves slipping backwards – with some destitute and relying on the generosity of neighbours themselves struggling.

· Having insufficient funds to buy foods and hygiene products as prices rose but social welfare and other forms of support remained static or even ceased.
Family / Why You Should Value Your Body As A Woman by marielou(f): 9:42am On Apr 11, 2020
Today we are following the so called trend where sex is exhibited in our society as the norm of life.

Our so called kind of love today is sex first to show a man or woman that we “love” them. It is generally believed that man is sexually aroused when he sees a woman’s big bum or big breast but I don’t believe that. Most reasonable men understand that self control is very important. They understand that sex is not just a 5 minutes pleasure, but it is a spiritual affair – an exchange of blood between the two parties.

The question is;

Why is sex so rampant nowadays even when most religions frown at sex before marriage?

The simple answer is general moral decadence. Today society hardly frowns at women or men having multiple sex partners.

The sad truth is that each time you have sex with someone, something of them is being deposited into you: his sickness, his bad luck and his blood, also your spirit is offended.

Most African women have this weird belief that it is only through sex they can have all they want or achieve their aims. They will go to any length to seduce a man with materials affluence. Sex has become a weapon for most women to do and undo. Many women have lost all dignity as a woman.

First of all, society has changed the truth to false teaching where it is believed that there is nothing wrong in having sex anyhow or anytime there is arousal irrespective of your gender.

Daily we are inundated with write ups on how to enjoy sex out of wedlock and how to satisfy your boyfriend or man-friend sexually. Society has accepted a married man having as many side chick as possible and sees no problem in that. These men don’t understand that because of their useless lifestyle, their marriage is daily destroyed – no peace, no success and no prosperity, even their children are not successful in anything they do.

In the book of proverbs in the Bible it says drink from your own fountain. The writer of proverbs understood the consequences of drinking from another fountain.

Western Civilisation is to Blame

The annoying part of everything is that we copy every bad thing of the white man in the name of civilization. Even before Christianity came to Africa, we had our African culture that promoted chastity, virginity and high morals.

Today co-habitation of couple without marriage is not frowned upon. The society accepts it as norm.

“Baby mama” is the term used for a girl/woman who has a child for a man out of wedlock – what a derogatory name! It shows that the man has no respect, no love, no feelings for her, and many women are proud to be referred to as such, especially if the person they have the child for is rich.

In those days, many women did not want people to know of their affairs with married men, not to talk of women being labelled as lesbians, today the reverse is the case. Women are proud to show off their married “man friend”. Proud to move about with them. Proud to be called side chick and proud to be called baby mama.

We have lost all our morals and values. At any little opportunity women are ready to dress naked. Look at the 2020 actors awards organized by multichoice and DSTV, almost all the actresses who were present were either showing off their breasts or their slit was revealing all their legs up to their private part, meanwhile the men where all covered. Why are men always well dressed and all their bodies covered?

African Magic of DSTV that claims to promote African content, promote cohabitation and exalt premarital sex. In fact, some of these drama have become so bold not to censor where stark unclothedness is shown, a girl having sex with a married man for money and all sort of immoral acts.

The saddest thing is that our teenagers are constantly exposed to all of this on daily basis. How many parents are at home to control what their children watch on TV?

Poem for women written by Lang Leav
“Have you forgotten who you are? Here is a reminder, you are the bearer of light

Do you have any idea of your power? Every time you bend the universe yields to you.
Your eyes are twin world, they send up satellites to orbit. Your skin is made up of the very fabric of time

Look for the light within you let it surge like a river through your veins. Use it to will your dreams by existence.”

A woman has the ability to change the world to favor her and everyone around in positive ways.

In adverts, films and dramas, men are decently dressed, not portrayed as sex objects. Women can also emulate this and change the narrative. I strongly believe that women have the power to change the mentality of men towards them.

My Advice

Don’t help the world to propagate the narrative that women are sex objects. Strive to always command respect for yourself and your body.

Parents should bring up their children to have the fear and love of God, our body is the temple of God.

Sex with multiple partners before marriage destroys you physically, emotionally and spiritually. As a woman, always value your body Keep it chaste till that D-day.

Finally, I believe that the buck stops at the table of we mothers.

Family / Cultism A Menace In Our Secondary Schools by marielou(f): 11:45am On Mar 13, 2020
Cultism is a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious.
Cultism is a group of people showing intense devotion to a cause, person or work. In Nigeria, despite the proliferation of religiosity propagated by mostly christianity and Islam, cultism still thrives in almost every nook cranny and our children are very much involved in it. Research has proven that vulnerable people like those seeking for protection, those who lack selfesteem, those who are psychologically traumatized, and have no parental love or guidiance are easy targets for recruitment.
Many parents limit parenting to the weekend rituals of being with the kids at home on saturday and driving them to chuch on Sunday but do not spend enough time with them during the week. some parents are too high handed with their children thereby blocking every communication channel. Others are never around their children except for those few hours they spend together on weekends.
The transition from Adolescent into young adulthood is the most traumatizing moments in a child’s life. This is the time when he/she is discovering himself/ herself physically and psychologically. It is the moment they need lots

Family / The Importance Of Reading by marielou(f): 6:14pm On Jan 28, 2020
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends, they are the most accessible and wisest of all counselors and the most patient of teachers. Charles W. Elio
What we see around today is saddening, children, teenager’s, young adults are unable to express themselves properly in English and have no desire to read. Most schools have no library. Parents who are supposed to inculcate the habit of reading into their children are busy pursuing money.

Children are left to themselves and television. The only time you see children with books at home is when they have home work, television and phones preoccupies them all day. Only three things captivates them listening to music watching cartoons , films, or playing video games not educative films but sex, violence and criminal films. The film hero is a criminal with lots of money, the minds of our children are not positively challenged again. In my growing up days we even wrote essay on the films we went watching on Thursdays.
Family / Awareness Of The Illiteracy Rate Of Women/g In Nigeria. Www.marylouiseonline.co by marielou(f): 8:06am On Dec 21, 2019
Few women are able to demonstrate courage, tenability and confidence in a male dominating field like politics. Madam Natasha Akpoti has proven two things: determination and will power, many women lack tenability, will power, and determination, to achieve your objectives in life you need to be determined and not to be deterred by threats, oppression, fear or discouragement. Natasha Akpoti has all the attributes mentioned above. Another woman who had those attributes was late Dora Akunlily, and so many other women. We need lots of women in politics to attain decision-making position . Women participation in politics has been recognized internationally as an important measure of the status of women in any country.
Politics is a serious male dominated terrain where few women have the courage to venture into, politics in this part of our place is ruthless, a do or die affair, excessive money to bribe, thuggery and violence.

Infidelity is unfaithfulness to a moral obligation, disloyal or the act of having a romantic or sexual relationship with someone other than one’s husband/ wife.

Some causes of infidelity

According to wellness expert Amin Morin, over 40% of married couples are impacted by infidelity. Cheating is wrong it creates distress, and hate words in a marriage, above all it does not solve the problem instead compound it.

Frustration may be one of the causes of infidelity, when one partner is the only one struggling to keep the marriage going always by making effort to communicate and not getting a positive response to his/her anger.

Family / Perseverance by marielou(f): 7:08pm On Jul 27, 2019
Perseverance means qualities that allow someone to continue trying to do something even when things are difficult.

Everybody goes through challenges in life especially women, a divorce woman, a widow, and a single parent woman faces the same challenge in meeting up with the needs of their children, which is no enough money. The situation they go through can be very overwhelming and can lead to depression, especially if they have no one to encourage or support them. Whatever the situation you may be in, you will have to set goal and attain them so as to get out of your situation. Whether it has to do with loneliness, finance, children, health, indiscipline in decision making, or managing your finances, we must set goals and achieve them. As a woman and a mother you deserve happiness and rest of mind, you should not allow any situation to overcome you because in life we will always have challenges, but how we handle the challenges will make us over comers.

Endurance, perseverance, hope in yourself and God with a positive frame of mind will make you to achieve your goal. To achieve your goals you must take a decision first to overcome your negative mentality many of us suffer because of the fear of the unknown, we are ever procrastinating, slow in taking decision, slow in changing our unhappy situation, every day you are telling yourself I will do that or that, yet do nothing. No one will bring you out of any challenge you going through except you make up your mind, and change your mind set.

All the dresses women wear today are all designed to show the form of a woman especially the butts, even girl children wears are not exempted, God have mercy on us. Truth be told even before the over publicity of the woman body on medias, most African men had always been attracted to women who had protruded bums first, before the breast, and yet in those days women were well covered. Everywhere on social media we see women half naked body exposed wearing tight fitted wears that shows all her curves, breast and butts in a very provocative way.

Unfortunately in this 21st century we still have many illiterate women and girls due to some factors which I will enumerate below;

They areː poverty, divorce, parental neglect, and peer influence

Poverty ː means unable to provide for his/her daily needs due to some circumstances, example sickness, unemployment, not earning enough funds, or parents with lots of children. We also have poverty mentality which is a poor attitude that stems from deep within with the mentality that you don’t ever have enough. When a person is poor and suffering and find it difficult to make ends meet; in this situation there might be the tendency for that person especially for a woman to sell her body or steal or do both.

I remember those days when men used to approach women with all respect and true feeling, even when a man wanted a woman for just sex, the approach was still decent. Today what we see around is annoying and humiliating, woman have been reduced to sex, once a man greet you and you respond, the next thing that comes out of his mouth is i want to have sex with you, they don’t care about your age or personality. The words some of these men says to women are so derogatory when making sexual advances, you wonder whether a woman is just sex, nothing in her head, nothing valuable in her. Then while making those derogatory statements he will be looking at her so lustfully even touching her, imagining her already in bed in his mind, the moment you say no to him, or you try to make him see his rude and disrespectful approach, he becomes angry and starts abusing; this attitude is common with younger men, for the older men once you reason with them they apologizes and will never call you, or will try his chance again next time, depend on how you separated. Definition of a single parenthood

Is a person who raises a child or children without a partner. Been single can be the same as co-parenting, which is when both parents agree to have an equal share in the child rearing even though they are no longer together. Reason for becoming a single parent include break-up, divorce, death of one parent, abandonment, or having a child or children out of wedlock

Difficulties of been a single parent

Is not easy combining work, child care, and house work, when you are a single parent, you play the role of father and mother, there is no way you can dedicate yourself totally to the care of the children. Something must take preeminence and most time is work, why? Because fees, feeding, and rent must be assured in fact feeding must never lack no matter how difficult things may be. Coping with children upbringing is not easy, raising up children is very demanding most people feel that single parent children are most time neglected because the mother is hardly around, that these children’s performance in school are poor, that their social development is bad, and that they are emotionally disturb because of insufficient love shown to them. Single parent mothers most time are poor and cannot adequately provide for their children needs, no financial help from anywhere except from their earnings. It is also believed that sometime in leave lover may contribute to the trauma of the children by being wicked and uncaring to them, in extreme cases rape may be involved. True, but not applicable to all single parent mothers, truly there are lots of challenges, yet many single parent mothers have raised up children who have turn out very well in the society. What she needs to do is to organize herself, her work time, be home early, and have a job that is not too demanding.

Family / Violence And Maltreatment On Children Is Wrong Www.marylouiseonline.com by marielou(f): 1:42pm On Dec 14, 2018
Maltreatment means to treat someone cruelly and abuse the person emotionally. In Africa, we believe that children are a source of joy and as such they are ever welcomed irrespective of the condition that the people who welcome them live in. Owing to high rate of poverty and illiteracy, most African parents give birth indiscriminately without any planning. This results in more children than they can cater for adequately. So the vicious cycle of illiteracy and poverty continues.

The result is that these children they give birth to are usually given out at very tender ages to become house helps and in some cases are converted to modern day slaves – maltreated, brutalized and sometimes sexually abused by their supposed benefactors.

Family / How To Make Your Teen Child Your Friend And Discuss Sex Www.marylouiseonline.c by marielou(f): 9:43am On Nov 18, 2018
Sex is a pleasurable act done with ones partner in love and in marriage. Today, what we see around is enough to make every parent scared for their teenage children. My son who is not even 12 years was telling me about condoms the other day and I was truly surprised. At the same time, I was not too surprised because our children are exposed and bombarded with sex news through social media, music videos lyrics and films.

The fact of the matter is that the message passed to them is wrong. As parents with teen children we are dealing daily with our children’s personality conflict. It’s a very a difficult age for the child who is trying to know his/her body and feelings, and for the parent who is trying to inculcate some measure of discipline, because that is the age that the girl child is comparing herself to her mother, wants freedom, and has started having sexual feelings. The body is rapidly changing – breasts growing, hair in the armpit and pubic place etc. For the girl child, it is a particularly confusing period.

Rebellious age

At this age, they are very rebellious. Therefore, to prevent the teen child from getting his/her information of sex and other information from friends and the public , we as parents must apply patience with them, draw them closer to us, avoid exchanging words with them, be present and discuss their day with them. It’s during this daily discussion that you will discuss sex. And it should not just be about sex between a man and woman, even woman to woman sexual relationship should be discussed. Yes ooh, you must discuss with them that some women will also want sex with them

Why You should educate your child about sex

Politics / Tribalism And Discrimination Https://www.marylouiseonline.com by marielou(f): 8:55pm On Oct 29, 2018
What is tribalism?

According to Wikipedia tribalism is a state of being organized, or advocating for a tribe or tribes. In terms of conformity, tribalism may also refer in popular culture terms to a way of thinking or behaving in which people are more loyal to their tribe than to their friends, to their country, or any other social group.

In Nigeria context, tribalism is defined as social phenomenon associated with the identity of members of a particular group(s) seeking to protect and advance their interest in a political system. The relevant communal factor is language, culture, religion or common history. According to late Prof Chinua Achebe in his view describe tribalism as discrimination because of their place of birth. In Nigeria today, tribalism has been elevated to dominate national discourse, controls how people think and talk, and determines what they oppose or support. It is promoted by the political elites, embraced by the young and the old, passed from generation to generation, and even has base in the constitution. This explains the assumption that conflicts in Nigeria is motivated by ethnic competition,‘one of the major problems we are facing today that does not unite us but divide us. Wherever you go the first question they ask you , is which state are you from, then which tribe, as if that has to do with your performance or personality. This tribalism is causing so much pains to people, has made some tribe to benefit more than others in project sharing, road construction etc. some states and tribes benefit more on infrastructures and co, according to the tribe in power. Tribalism and discrimination has put a lot of people in position they were not supposed to be, because they are not qualified to be there, due process is hardly establish because to have anything done you must first of all know if is your tribesmen or woman that is in that position before you can make any approach or drop your application or whatever transaction you are about to undertake. It has caused lots of destruction, wars, and deep rooted hate among people, in fact between corruption and tribalism I don’t know which is worst, politician’s uses tribalism slogan to divide the people and make the people to kill each other, people tend to support their own ethnic person in power whether the person is performing or not, support him blindly even when he steals just because he is their tribesmen or woman.

Family / The Increasing Phenomenon Of Rape In Our Society Https://www.marylouiseonline. by marielou(f): 9:21pm On Oct 15, 2018
Unemployment: why do I mention unemployment because an idle mind is the devil workshop, in fact when you go around from one city to the other you see lots of young men around, between the age of 16/ 35 idle doing nothing hanging around in groups. Most time discussing trivialities, sex, musician wealth, admiring woman who pass by, and discussing women, most of them are very frustrated and angry, also majority did not finish secondary school and are not enlighten, research has proven that when youth are busy with their hands or brains they hardly think of women, crime, or sex.
Most of these youths have no skilled work, majorities are from poor homes, many have not completed secondary school because of poverty they can’t further their study or learn skilled work. And those who have

completed secondary school or tertiary level, still find themselves on the street because there no job at all. I am not saying that is only children from poor background that rapes girls oh! It cuts across every sector, bad parenting, children who lack self-confidence, and those who are psychological traumatize due to abuse and lack of love are mostly those found in these despicable acts.

Anger: the youth are angry with what they see around, most African government do not make the environment suitable for all. Imagine a child who grew up in a very difficult situation saw how his parent made daily effort and sacrifice to make sure he has an education; only to end up on the street because he has no god father, no money or he is not from a particular tribe or religion. The anger and frustration that he has been suppressing from children will surface now that he is on the street facing the reality of life, such person become a violent rapist because most time around him he sees how the female is more favored with jobs, cash, and opportunities. Do not forget that because he has no job, no money he can’t have a girlfriend to relate with, as such his anger and fury are really unstoppable, which most time leads to crimes and rape
Drugs and alcohol: Other major problems causing both single and gang raping. You see many of these our youths that are jobless, and hangs around in our areas are susceptible to hard drugs and alcohol, this goes around for free, cheap hard drugs and alcohol shared around, very intoxicating. They take these drugs all day long without proper food in their stomach many among them are big criminals or petty thief’s who steal to maintain their lifestyle, they terrorize people around by extorting money from them. They enjoy terrorizing young girls especially those they feel are proud and arrogant or beautiful, these guys are so vicious they not only rape they also steal from them and in some cases kill the victim. Around one notorious place in orange market where drugs is peddle twenty four hours young girl are daily found dead around the vicinity. Many times girls are also raped because her girlfriend set her up with the collaboration of these guys that promises her stipend and security around the area, not only are they criminals, but they feel they are powerful and authority unto themselves, delinquent, daring and notorious and very disrespectful.
Family / Decadence Behavior’s Among The Youth Of Today Https://www.marylouiseonline.com by marielou(f): 8:16pm On Oct 15, 2018
The united nation put the age of the youth between fifteen and twenty four, in Nigeria the national youth service scheme allow graduate of thirty years to undergo the scheme, it means youth age in Nigeria is fifteen to thirty or some say between eighteen and thirty five, is a stage of life toward adulthood. Thus youth are expected to be the most active population of a country, the higher the number of youth the higher the quantity of wealth and national income all things been equal, but reverse has been the case in most developing countries where youth are rendered redundant, or they rendered themselves redundant. According to Anasi (2010) that Nigeria youth constitute about 40% of the population and that youth remained the greatest assets any community will boast of.

Today what we see among youth is total moral breakdown, indiscipline, impolite, bad dressing, dishonesty, vandalism, drug abuse, examination malpractices, cultism etc… Let me mention some causes of these behaviors: bad upbringing, peer influence, drugs, environment, and entertainment. Aside formal training in moral and values in education, the first seed of moral education is to be sown within the family.
Family / Factors That Leads To Prostitution Https://www.marylouiseonline.com by marielou(f): 3:44pm On Sep 24, 2018
It’s not easy, to take a decision, for positive changes. What I mean is, supposing you are doing a job you do not like or you are in a place where you are compelled to do what you don’t like. In this kind of situation you definitely need to make changes in your life; most time is not easy in taking such decision to change because we are afraid of the unknown and don’t have courage to leave the comfort zone even, when we are not happy in the situation.

We all know education and knowledge are powerful tools for the success of every woman. An enlightened woman will stand proud anywhere, and will be very helpful to herself and the society at large. Unfortunately in this 21st century we still have many illiterate women and girls due to some factors which I will enumerate below;

Every words that comes out of your mouth is; I don’t have, I can’t afford this or that; whenever you pronounce these words you are prophesying poverty in your life, a poverty minded person is always talking about his lack of money. When a person is poor, suffering and finding it difficult to make ends meet the tendency for that person especially for a woman is to sell her body or steal if it’s a man.

Divorceː common now in our days, divorce has become the order of the day because in today world, lots of couples have lost moral values and the fear of God. Selfishness abounds, no love is all about what gain you will derive from your partner, and those who suffer the consequences of divorce are the children. Marriage vows are not respected because love was never the base of the marriage instead it was based on material gains and selfishness of course not in all cases, other divorce occurs because of violence, abuse and poverty. Divorce traumatizes the children demoralized them, very devastating particularly when the children are left with their mothers who might, most time not be buoyant financially. In most cases some children start hawking on the street, mature and assume responsibility faster in providing for their parent and sibling needs, with the divorce comes psychology trauma exposed to the street vices and evil, abuse of men, who takes advantage of the hawking child many times leading the child to prostitution particularly if she is given extra money by men to supplement her sales, or the child herself begins to sell her body if the sales money not enough for their needs at home. In some cases some mothers encourage or push their daughter into prostitution because of poverty or ignorance.
