He is using 100 AH , require 10 to 20 amps charging ,connecting four 100 watts panel in parallel of 4 amps each will make up to this

You are absolutely right.
However, their plan is to use one 250W solar panel which I found worrisome.

4 panels in parallel will be just fine like you suggested.

Thanks

this guy who are you, you seem knowledgeable in this area, will 500 to 600k suffice for me ? I intend to do an install in my house in two months time.

Sorry for replying late. Work calls!!

If you are sourcing the components yourself without middle men, you might just be able to set up something worthwhile with 600k.

I always advise you start off with an 80A to 120A mppt solar charge controller. If you ever need to scale up your battery bank or increase the numbers of your panels, the charge controller will not be a limiting factor.

The inverter will most definitely depend on the load you want to power.
The rule of thumb is to add 1000w to the largest single load in your home. E. G. If your pressing iron is 1200w, then you are better off with a 2.5kva inverter since you won't want to switch other gadgets off while ironing.

I hope I have done justice to your enquiry?

The recipe is okay
You're wrong bro
7A good to charge 100a battery

I'm not disputing that 7A will not charge a 100ah battery, the crust of the matter is that it will take days to achieve a 14.4v bulk charge and the battery may never get to float especially on a pwm charger.

A battery requires a current 10 - 20% of it's rated Ampere hours to be fully charged and on a pwm with it's inefficiency, you can't use it while charging simultaneously.

That's why he used a 60A charge controller. At max of 8 amps per panel, in parallel, they add up to 48A. But those 150w panels should be like 5 Amps each.

Interesting!

A PMW because of it's low efficiency will invariably reduce every voltage to about 12V averagely.

So, 12 X 48A = 576W.

The only thing saving this charge controller going up in flames is that it can never attain its maximum power generation.

576W is too much power to connect on the 12v system.

The rating for a 60w PWM at 12V should be around 360W or less.

You are tempting fate.

I don't know why Nigerians will always come online to lie to scare others , solar get levels
While most people might be correct that your 300k is too low , but it is not totally true

Let's see

12v 150w solar panel is around 50k for my area anambra state but for Lagos it is way cheaper

You will need just three - so that even when small sunshine your battery is full under 3 hours

3 12v 150w panel 50k*3 = 150k

60A pwm controller this is very important you will learn why in future and based on price of 30a it is foolishness that will make you not buy 60A controller

1 60A pwm controller = 28k

1 pure wave inverter 500watts or even lower like 300watts = 30k lower if you see 300watts

Na here it gets a little dicey

Go for 75a or 100a battery
If you go for 100a depending on location u might need extra 20k to 30k
But for 75a battery you won't need extra money

Remember money for wire and to pay installer , circuit breakers are not included

You 300k will get you a well and able doing solar setup that will work well during the day but not that long for night highest 2 to 3 hours in the night

If you want put to 8hours or more in the future just buy one extra panel and 200a battery and add to the setup and you are good to go

No be AI writeup be this na real life experience I have done years back and still doing it

A picture attached below is one I did last year ending total coz was 550k

6panels , 200a battery, 1k inverter , 60a controller
I buy controller and inverter for AliExpress both didn't even cost up to 60k then na for panel and battery these people take chop me

I'm curious to know how you connected 6 x 150W solar panels to a 12v battery without surpassing the power setting for 12v on a PWM charge controller?

You are wrong! Stop misleading ignorant peps with things you know nothing about. Even 200w monocrystalline panel charges 100 ah ba3 for 10.5 to 14.any full charge in 6-7 hours here

You may just be the one edging op to self destruction.

I'm perplexed that you can say what you just typed.

A PWM charge controller does not have the efficiency of converting excess voltage to charging current like an mppt does.

PWM charge controllers are very poor in charging when devices are used simultaneously unlike mppt chargers.

Also, for the specification @op is requesting for, increasing the voltage or numbers of the panel is a wasted effort because the pwm will reduce it to match the battery voltage and waste the excess hence it's low efficiency.

For op to even use 2-3 panels for a 12v battery on a pwm, they must be connected in parallel to boast current and keep voltage at the level of a single panel or else the pwm will go up in smoke.

With all these considerations, if you still wish @op to go ahead with the obvious "white elephant" project, I wish him safe trip.

I'm totally off grid for 6 years now and I know what's at play here.

90k for a 250W mono solar panel
18k for a 30A Pwm solar charge controller
130k for a 100ah 12v gel battery
100k for a 1kva inverter

It's possible, though not an optimal setup. But it will serve till you're ready to upgrade.

Hmmm!

This is going to be a recipe for disaster.

One 250w solar panel at Isc of about 7A on a PWM charge controller will never take that battery to a full Bulk charge of 14.4V.

My guy will definitely have issues in less than 3 months after installation because the battery will sulphate from undercharging.

I will advise op get more funds and set-up something that will be worth the effort. An MPPT charge controller will be most appropriate because of its efficiency.
He will need about 2-3 additional panels for faster charging.

My guy, just invest the 350k and do a good job later.
You are not ready yet

The capital base to start a bank is beyond what a single individual can cough out.

With the new CBN guidelines, you will require 50B naira to set up a regional bank and 200B Naira for a national bank and if going international ever cross your mind, then be prepared to shell out 500B naira.

Tell me who can cough out such idle amount to be warehoused with CBN before you go about the acquisition of properties and staffing?
