Business / Re: Branding, The Secret Of Successful Enterpreneurs by mauco: 11:08am On Feb 22, 2009
Nice post!

Branding in a nutshell is just for you to deliver on your promise! Once your clients/customers know you always meet their needs and expectation with your product/service they'll create a perception about you, which eventually becomes your brand!

And once they place you on a high pedestal, the onus lies on you not to rest on your laurels, but guard your brand jealously and keep doing your best to improve on your clients expectation.

That IMHO is what branding is all about!
Business / Re: Any Business With Little Capital? by mauco: 10:57am On Feb 22, 2009
There are several business you could do with N20,000 but I personally wouldn't consider buying shares in an economic downturn.

Start something you know you're good at and you love doing. Find out if there's stuff your fellow students need that you could help them source for a small fee. Even if the business idea / concept seems over flogged, that doesn't mean YOU cannot succeed in it! After all, there's nothing new under the sun!

Just pour your heart and soul into it, and look for innovative twists which you could 'repackage' your product/service. Also, be focused, trust in God, believe in yourself and don't hang around people who'll try to discourage you!

Rather than wasting your time doing too many researches, so as to avoid mistakes, I'd rather you take NIKE's tag line and 'Just Do It'. Taste the waters and as you go along you'll learn from your mistakes.

I hope this helps somewhat?! Here's wishing you the best.

Nice! I agree. But  you really need to do a lot of research and know what you're doing before you plunge into it, else you're sure to lose money very fast! But you must also remember that PPC without SEO can't really get you far.

I like your layout and color scheme.

As you have been adviced already, you need to work on your logo. I didn't see any info about you/your contact details. I'm more comfortable dealing with websites that have their contact details displayed boldly. I think you should look into it.

Nice tips. Its worth the effort for everyone to try them.

But IMHO sooner or later, as your site/business grows, you'll have to consider having a budget for your online advertising strategy. This will enable you hire the pros to do your PPC management and SEO for best results in traffic generation and SE rankings.

Cool! But I think your font color is too faint for me to read everything properly. I believe you should make the font color a bit more legible.
Webmasters / Re: Help. Pls Help I Think I Have A Web Site But I Don't Know How It Works by mauco: 10:37pm On Feb 16, 2009
Sadly it just goes to show that there's truly no free lunchies in life, especially on the internet.

IMHO I would suggest you forget that one and start all over again. Their are loads of reputable companies online that would help you setup and host a free site. But there's always a catch to it i.e. either they place their ads on your site etc.

So always read the fine print before you signup for anything.
Webmasters / Re: How Do I Go About Webhosting? by mauco: 10:09pm On Feb 16, 2009
Don't just rush into it. Its like renting a new apartment.

Do a thorough research to find existing user reviews of the companies you're interested in dealing with.

Your main concerns should be if the company has a good customer/technical support service that's available 24/7 via email / phone?

Send the potential companies emails. If they don't respond within 24hrs, then walk away. You could also call them and see how they respond to your concerns/queries. Visit their website to see if its professional in look/feel. Is their site down when you visit? This should be a red flag!

Hope that helps? Wish you all the best.
