Jobs/Vacancies / How To Choose The Right Private Secondary School For Your Child by Mazulu: 1:27am On Aug 22, 2023
Choosing the right private secondary school for your child is an important decision. It is a decision that will impact your child's education, social life, and future career. There are many factors to consider when choosing a private secondary school, such as the school's academic reputation, extracurricular offerings, and religious affiliation.

Here are some tips for choosing the right private secondary school for your child:

Consider your child's needs and interests. What are your child's academic strengths and weaknesses? What are their interests and hobbies? What kind of learning environment do they thrive in? Once you have a good understanding of your child's needs and interests, you can start to narrow down your choices of private secondary schools.

Research the schools. Once you have a few schools in mind, it is important to research them thoroughly. Visit the schools, talk to current students and parents, and read online reviews. Get a sense of the school's culture, academic offerings, and extracurricular activities.

Make a budget. Private secondary schools can be expensive. It is important to make a budget and factor in the cost of tuition, fees, books, and other expenses. You may also want to consider financial aid options.

Visit the schools again. Once you have narrowed down your choices, it is important to visit the schools again. This time, you can take a tour of the facilities, meet with the teachers and staff, and ask any questions you may have.

Trust your gut. Ultimately, the decision of which private secondary school is right for your child is a personal one. Trust your gut and choose the school that you feel is the best fit for your child.

Politics / How Sanwo-olu Threatened APC Youth Aspirant Dada Olusegun Before APC Convention by Mazulu: 3:27pm On Mar 27, 2022
In the early hours of Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the Eagle Square venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, National Youth Leader aspirant, Dada Olusegun, took to the podium for an important announcement.

Urged on to put himself together by Aviation Minister and jovial event compere Hadi Sirika, Segun got hold of the microphone.

Seconds passed.

And then he found the words. And his voice.

“My name is Dada Olusegun. I hereby…” he stuttered, while fighting back tears. “I hereby withdraw from nomination for office of National Youth Leader of our great party. Thank you very much,” he added, this time an emotional wreck.

The tears were welling up now as Segun collapsed into the embrace of his supporters on stage and was whisked out of sight and out of the venue.

“They threatened to kill him if he didn’t withdraw from the race and endorse the party’s consensus candidate for the position,” a source who worked on the ‘Segun for APC National Youth Leader’ campaign tells Quest Times exclusively and on condition of anonymity.

The consensus candidate for the position was 36-year-old Dayo Israel, who had the backing of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The office had been zoned to Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu and APC chieftains in the southwest who were working behind the scenes, had settled for Israel, who was announced as the choice of Lagos, only days before the convention.

Segun had been working on becoming APC National Youth Leader for the better part of two years.

Sanwo-Olu told Segun that it would be in his own interest to step down and abandon his political ambition if he doesn’t want what happened to Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, to befall him, reveals the source.

Aregbesola had famously fallen out with APC national leader and Presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu; and was outwitted in the politics to choose the Osun State APC governorship flag-bearer.

“Sanwo-Olu also promised Segun that if he dropped out of the race, he would hand him an appointment in Lagos State and make him a bigger, widely known politician.

“Segun rejected these offers and told Sanwo-olu that he just wants to be given an opportunity to test his popularity at the ballot on convention day and exercise his democratic rights,” the source adds.

A visibly enraged Sanwo-Olu then told Segun to watch out and see how it all plays out at the convention.

A close friend of Segun’s who also craved anonymity for this story tells Quest Times that afterwards, the governor drew the battle line with Segun.

“He basically told Segun to f** off.”

Threats to wife and family
“Segun started receiving threats to his life over the phone.

“People were calling him and asking him to step out of the race, and that if he didn’t, he would face the consequences,” this friend of the aspirant discloses.

“On Convention Day, Segun was told to stay away from the Lagos Pavilion at Eagle Square. People were walking up to him from the Lagos Pavilion and threatening him. They were pointedly telling him to withdraw from the race.

“You may have noticed a chap sporting a white T-shirt who was cajoling Segun on the convention grounds. His name is Olarenwaju Smart.

“Olarenwaju walked up to Segun and told him that Governor Sanwo-Olu had concluded plans to report him to the DSS (Department of State Security) for forging a document and for forging the signatures of five state governors.

“For the records, Segun never did any of those things. So, Segun was like ‘I don’t know about these documents man and if the governor wants to report me to law enforcement, he should damn well go ahead because I never did any of these things.

“At the convention ground, boys from the Lagos Pavilion were threatening to beat Segun up and roughen him up if he doesn’t withdraw for Israel.

“Some of Segun’s friends and backers like Abike Dabiri and Ayobami Oyalowo, were receiving threatening phone calls from Sanwo-Olu’s associates,” says our source.

According to this friend, Segun caved-in and withdrew from the race when his wife received one of those threatening phone calls.

“That was where he drew the line, apparently.

“He got a call from his wife that they called her and told her that if she doesn’t convince her husband to step down, she was going to lose two of her children. That was in the early hours of Sunday,” reveals the source.

“I think his wife also told him to withdraw from the race for safety reasons and for the sake of their kids,” Quest Times was told.

According to Segun’s camp, their candidate had received the endorsements of 31 states out of 36, and that Segun was always going to trounce Israel in a free and fair contest if that was allowed to happen.

“The Dayo Israel they backed and who won, is not even from Lagos State.

“He is not a Lagosian. He was also almost disqualified from the race. He lied that he had resigned from a political appointment days prior when that was not the case. His letter was back-dated to let him scale through,” one of the sources adds.

Segun wouldn’t say a word when Quest Times reached out to him for comments for this story, only emphasizing that he is back home in the loving arms of his wife and kids and would be going under the radar.

Governor Sanwo-Olu and his media aides did not also respond to requests for comments before press time.

Quest Times was unable to reach Israel as well.

Health / The Rise Of Colorado: How A Killer Substance Became The Go-to Dr#g For Nigerians by Mazulu: 6:42pm On Mar 22, 2022
At about the time the world mourned Kobe Bryant aka Black Mamba, a different kind of Black Mamba was quietly influencing the lives of a growing number of young Nigerians.

The name Black Mamba as it was initially called has now been dumped for the widely used Colorado or Colos for short.

Unknown to most of its users, it is not a plant, but a chemical that is sprayed on dried herbs. The herbs can then be rolled in papers and smoked like regular marijuana or stored in cartridges which can be used through vaping. At first glance, the dried herbs look just like regular marijuana.

Going on to earn the compounds the moniker “synthetic weed or marijuana” which has gone on to give it some form of “credence,” as acceptance of Marijuana is gradually on an upward trajectory.

They are reported to be 2-100 times more potent than regular marijuana, depending on the mood or experience of the chemist preparing the mix.

For a more relatable comparison, marijuana is like Heineken, while synthetic cannabinoids can be compared to absinthe or prohibition-age moonshine.

The reason for its potency is that, unlike THC which does not fully bind to its receptors, synthetic cannabinoids bind very tightly to the receptors going on to create a more potent effect on the user.

Politics / You're An Enemy Of Nigeria For Twisting Facts Shina Peller To Atiku by Mazulu: 9:29am On Mar 21, 2022
Shina Peller has described the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as a typical Nigerian politician who is ever ready to twist the fact, manipulate and mislead the people just to satisfy his presidential ambition.

Peller was reacting to a recent video of the former vice president where he was trying to justify his 2023 presidential aspiration which is against the North-South zoning arrangement.

In the video, the former vice president claimed that the South has ruled the country for more years than the North citing Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan, while he deliberately failed to mention President Umar Yar’adua - an action Honourable Peller described as a deliberate attempt to mislead the people for selfish political reason.

Honourable wrote:

"I disagree with the position of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar confusingly stating that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan (Southerners) were Presidents for 8 years and 6 years respectively, whilst he deliberately skipped the name of the late Umaru Musa Yar'Adua for selfish political interest.

"What makes it more disappointing for me is the fact that the former Vice President is a Muslim and Islam teaches us to be truthful and fair in our dealings and not misguide people with our utterances. Alh Atiku knows that after Chief Obasanjo's tenure, it was Yar'Adua before the circumstance made Dr. Goodluck Jonathan President. Death, which is inevitable to all, shortened the tenure of Yar'Adua as the President, not man. But someone who calls himself a Muslim who is supposed to be truthful and believe in God and Death, I expected that he should have recognised Yar'Adua in his analogy.

"Going by his recent utterances, Alhaji Atiku has just proven to us again that he is one of the typical Nigerian politicians who is ever ready to manipulate the people, twist the fact and mislead people to satisfy their political interest even if it means at the detriment of unity, peace and progress of our dear country.

"For me, I strongly believe that only an enemy of Nigeria will want to keep power in the North as far as 2023 is concerned. The South is bleeding: Yorubas are agitating for Oduduwa Nation; the Igbos are agitating for Biafra, a clear indication that these groups feel marginalized, while the Northerners have retained the position of the President for eight years (2 uninterrupted terms of 4 years). In the interest of peace, it is only fair that the South should produce the next Nigerian President.

"God has blessed our country with so much resources. We want to progress in our country, and we can never achieve progress without fairness, justice and peace. ONLY AN ENEMY OF NIGERIA WILL WANT THE NORTH TO RETAIN POWER IN 2023.

"This is the time politicians must sacrifice for Nigeria and embrace peace first as we, the politicians are the ones that have benefited mostly from the failed system. So sad!!! #NigeriaNeedsPeace #PeaceFirst #Ayederoofyorubaland."

Politics / 17 Months After #endsars Shooting, Lagos Govt Resumes Lekki Toll Collection by Mazulu: 12:36pm On Mar 14, 2022
The Lekki Concession Company (LCC) has announced that toll collection will resume at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge on April 1, 2022.

Toll collection at the bridge was stopped as young people protested decades of police brutality, profiling, extortion and extra-judicial killings under the #EndSARS banner.

Hoodlums hijacked the protests nationwide, afterwards.

On October 20, 2022, armed soldiers and police officers stormed the Lekki, Lagos venue of the protests and fired live rounds into a crowd of young, armless protesters.

A judicial panel of inquiry set-up by the Lagos State government to investigate the Lekki toll shootings submitted a report that indicted the government, the army and the police, in November of 2021.

The panel also established that police officers from the nearby Maroko Police Station were drafted to the Lekki tollgate to enforce a hurriedly declared curfew and to forcibly disperse the protesters.

The panel also submitted that “there was an attempt to cover up the incident of the 20th of October by the cleaning of the Lekki tollgate and the failure to preserve the scene ahead of the potential investigations.”

#EndSARS activists have been resisting the re-commencement of tolling operations at both bridges (Lekki-Epe toll and Lekki-Ikoyi toll), with a 2021 #EndSARS memorial protest warning against any such moves.

However, fliers are currently being distributed at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, informing motorists that “cashless toll collection will commence at Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge on 1st April 2022.”

The flier also enumerates how to register for a free e-tag sticker in “5 simple steps.”

In its 309-page report submitted to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on November 15, 2021, the panel recommended that the Lekki Toll Plaza be made a memorial site for ENDSARS Protest: By renaming to “ENDSARS TOLLGATE.

“The panel recommends that October 20th of every year, is made a “Toll Free Day” at the Lekki Toll Gate as long as the tollgate exists.

“That Oct 20th of every year be made EndSARS day nationally for the remembrance of our falling youth.

“That for the purpose of restitution, healing and reconciliation, the federal government needs to publicly apologise to the youth for abruptly undermining the protest with their state actors.”

The panel reports that at least 11 people were killed on the night, with at least 24 others sustaining gunshot wounds.

Unofficial accounts say the death toll was much higher.

Politics / 2023: Osinbajo Notifies Buhari Of His Intention To Run by Mazulu: 8:30am On Mar 14, 2022
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, has reacted to the rumoured news that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has informed his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari of his purported intention to join the presidential race in 2023.

Earlier, there was report that the VP purportedly told President Buhari of his desire to take over from him at the expiration of his tenure in 2023 to consolidate the achievements they recorded since they took over from the opposition PDP in 2015.

“Certainly, VP Osinbajo has told the president that he wants to succeed him.

“The vice president had first consulted some prominent Nigerians who encouraged him to vie for the presidency and they also encouraged him to tell the president himself

“They told him not to allow a third party to tell the president so that the ambition will not be misconstrued,” sources told Daily Trust in separate interviews.

However, Mr Laolu in an exclusive with Quest Times Monday, said, “Activities of the VP would be communicated officially. All of these issues would become clear soon. Watch out”.

Though Osinbajo is yet to declare his intention to run for the office of president in 2023, many support groups and individuals have sprung up rooting for him.

The groups have been going round the country and sponsoring adverts in print and broadcast media urging the vice president to contest

Politics / Day After Buhari Puts Him In Charge, Osinbajo Summons NNPC Executives by Mazulu: 4:45pm On Mar 07, 2022
Less than 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari declared that his Vice is now in charge of the country as he departed for a two-week medical vacation to London, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has summoned the NNPC Group Managing Director to the Presidential Villa as the fuel scarcity in the country lingers.

Aso Rock Correspondents and other Villa sources confirmed to Quest Times that Mr Mele Kyari, the GMD of the NNPC and some other executives of the company were seen this afternoon coming into the Villa and leaving soon after.

It was disclosed that in what was a short meeting, the Vice President asked for an update on how the NNPC intended to quickly resolve the lingering fuel scarcity. “The NNPC boss gave an impressive report and plan to the VP was and was seen leaving the Villa walking briskly as if he has been given a firm order,” said a reliable source.

Sources added that a sense of urgency to resolve the fuel scarcity was stressed by the Vice President at the meeting, a queue the NNPC executives also took. “Judging from the look of things the scarcity would be over very soon, ” said another source close close to the NNPC executives.

The fuel scarcity started weeks ago when it was discovered that an adulterated fuel was supplied to the country and its withdrawal created a huge supply gap which has caused the lingering fuel scarcity.

Travel / FG Makes Arrangements For Nigerians In Ukraine To Enter Hungary, Romania by Mazulu: 4:12pm On Feb 27, 2022
For Nigerians based in Ukraine trying to make their way out, another option has been offered by the Federal Government: they can also head for Hungary or Romania.

Earlier through the efforts of the Foreign Affairs Minister, the Polish authorities had agreed to receive Nigerians fleeing from Ukraine. However, there were reports of huge crowds trying to enter Poland. This necessitated the option of Hungary and Romania.

According to a statement signed by the Nigerian Embassy in Budapest and exclusively made available to Quest Times, the Hungarian government has enacted Decree 56/2022 (24. II) which permits third-country nationals with valid Ukrainian resident permits to enter Hungary on a temporary basis without a Schengen visa.

The Embassy also revealed that arrangements are being made for the transportation of Nigerians who present their valid passport and Ukrainian resident permit and “some money in Euros”. It also advised that affected Nigerians send their names, phone numbers, email addresses and a copy of their biodata page to the email embassy’s consular (secretary @nigerianembassy.hu) to enable facilitation of logistics arrangements.

The embassy also advised the public to disregard any information not released through its official website (www.nigerianembassy.hu).

Also, a statement by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM also publicise the information regarding the Romanian option. NIDCOM said the Nigerian Embassy has made arrangements at border points to receive Nigerians seeking refuge from war-troubled Ukraine.

It further revealed that the Minister of Foreign Affairs is working with Romanian authorities and the Organisation for Migration to help smoothen any difficulties that may arise from trying to gain entry into Romania.

Politics / Why Buhari Rejected APC Governors’ Choice Of Al-makura For Party Chairman by Mazulu: 12:57pm On Feb 24, 2022
In what political observers are calling a show of political dexterity mixed with a military general’s tactical surprise move, President Muhammadu Buhari has refused to anoint a long standing political associate, Sen. Tanko Al-Makura, as next Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

President Buhari prefers a more experienced hand who was a former member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, instead.

The president’s choice of Adamu has shocked APC Governors and members of the party’s Caretaker Committee.
Sources have disclosed to Quest Times that the president’s preference is predicated on Adamu’s experience in politics, garnered through the years, and that his choice fits into the president’s strategy to ensure a party that is stronger as a unit than any individual party member.

For instance, top APC sources disclosed that the president never fancied a situation where the party had a National Chairman and yet a party member was informally designated as National Party Leader.

It is believed that a scenario like that was allowed to fester because some of the previous APC Chairmen were too weak or too “junior” to kick against the practice where an unelected party chieftain is given the title of National Leader, a position not recognised in the party Constitution.

Sources say the president wants to put an end to what has been termed an “uncalled for reverence.”

Although both Adamu and Al-Makura were former governors of Nasarawa State and are now members of the APC, many had expected the president to anoint Al-Makura because he was with the president in the formation of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2009 after Buhari left the now defunct ANPP.

In fact, majority of the 22 APC Governors had already endorsed Al-Makura, thinking that their choice would receive the blessings of the president because Al-Makura was with CPC, one of the legacy political parties that merged to form the APC in 2013.

But the governors got the political shock of their lives on Tuesday afternoon at the Presidential Villa, when the president announced to them that having a more experienced party Chairman in Adamu is a better bet.

Many of the governors did not expect Adamu to get the president’s nod, simply because he was with the PDP on which platform he was governor for two terms from 1999 to 2007, the same period Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was Governor of Lagos.

Sources close to the president also say he prefers someone who can stand up to both the opposition party and other strong APC party members who may want to push an agenda or further ambitions that are not in the country’s interest.

One top APC source says: “Now that everyone has known who the president wants, it is certain the game is over. There would be a consensus list of new APC national leaders, at least as far as the top slot of party Chairman is involved.”

The source adds that the other contenders for party Chairman would be asked to step down, with possible soft-landing arrangements for them as time goes on.

What was not surprising however, the source adds, was the president’s continued fascination with Nasarawa State, a state that has always stood by him since he first started running for President in 2003.

Other aspirants who had aspired for the APC Chairmanship besides Adamu and Al-Makura were former Benue Governor George Akume, former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari, former Borno Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, among few others.

Politics / Officer Who Prevented Ortom From Entering Naval Base Suspended by Mazulu: 7:38pm On Feb 12, 2022
The Air Force officer who prevented Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom from entering the Makurdi Air Force Base on the morning of Saturday, 12th February 2022, has been suspended, Quest Times can report.

Sources said the Chief of Air Force ordered the officer’s (whose name has not been released) suspension on hearing of the incident and assigned a new Air Officer to take charge.

Ortom was at the Air Force base on Saturday morning to receive the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who was passing through from Abuja to Taraba State where he was going to represent the President as Visitor to the Federal University in Wukari.

The Benue State Governor was however prevented from accessing the base against normal protocol that would alert a state governor when the President or the VP were visiting or passing-by their areas.

Ortom received such protocol alert and decided to personally receive the VP who was in transit. He was shocked to have been prevented and he promptly addressed the press on the matter which immediately went viral online.

Sources close to the Governor said he also complained to federal authorities including the VP, who was also surprised at the action of the Air Force officer and demanded an explanation. It was in the aftermath of this, that the Chief of Air Staff ordered the officer suspended.

Eventually the Governor Ortom returned to the Base and received the VP on his return from Taraba.

Reports had earlier today reported that Air Force security stopped Ortom from receiving the VP while he was in transit passing through Makurdi.

In his briefing to journalists at Government House Makurdi right after, Governor Ortom said the action of the Airforce officer is “unacceptable, breach of protocol, and politics taken too far.”

Politics / NSCDC Reinstates Officers Attached To Shina Peller by Mazulu: 7:06am On Feb 03, 2022
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant-General, Ahmad Audi has reinstated officers attached to House of Representatives member, Shina Peller.

Just yesterday, NSCDC had withdrawn them, saying they were needed for urgent national assignment.

More interesting is the fact that they were withdrawn shortly after the lawmaker proposed a bill seeking to scrap the agency and merge it with the police, saying that their duties now collide with that of the police and that national resources are scarce to sustain it.

According to Audi, the letter of withdrawal from Oyo commandant was sent “without clearance” and out of line.

Addressing the matter Audi said, “The leadership of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has dismissed as unauthorised and without recourse to the Corps constituted authority, a letter signed and sent to a Member of the House of Representatives, Hon Shina Peller, informing him of the withdrawal of officials of the NSCDC assigned to him.

“Not only did the officer in question lack the power to do such, he was also found to have acted on his whims without clearance.

“The Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, has therefore directed a reinstatement of the withdrawn officers with complement of necessary courtesies to the Honourable Member.”

In making a case for the scraping of the agency, Shina has said that “scarce resources” are being wasted, as “it has now become a duplication of the police and has led to avoidable conflicts”.

In a letter written to the lawmaker explaining the reason why, the agency said that the officials are needed for an urgent national assignment.

Part of the statement by the agency reads: “Following the directive of the Commandant General on the necessity of the deployment of the command personnel for an urgent national security assignment, on behalf of the state commandant, I hereby withdraw all personnel attached to you.

“This is to meet up with the urgent national need.

“Any inconvenience this might cause is highly regretted.”

Politics / Aisha Buhari Begins Moving Out Of Aso Rock by Mazulu: 12:46pm On Feb 01, 2022
Quest Times can confirm that plans have now reached an advanced stage for First Lady Aisha Buhari to move out of the official presidential residence in Aso Villa, ahead of the completion of her husband’s second term in office next year.

Media sources in the Villa first hinted that the First Lady’s convoy had been seen on a few occasions departing public events without ending up in the Villa.

Later, a reliable source confirmed that Mrs. Buhari has already started spending some time living outside the villa recently.

But it was gathered that the plan to move out of the Villa to the adjoining Asokoro district is not as a result of any marital dispute but mainly because she just wanted “a breath of fresh air.”

It would be recalled that the First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, directed all staff members in her office to proceed on leave until further notice just before Christmas last month.

Multiple news reports quoted a top presidency source in December as confirming that such a directive was given.

The said report also noted however that “it would not be the first time she has sent her staff on leave,” adding that “Mrs Buhari had given a similar order on her return from a recent foreign trip when she had to observe the mandatory self-isolation COVID-19 protocol.”

Crime / Nigerian Governors May Now Be Impeached If Indicted For Criminal Offences by Mazulu: 12:06pm On Feb 01, 2022
As constitution review ends, Nigerian governors may now lose immunity if indicted for criminal offences.

News went round on Monday that the recommendations so far made by experts guiding the federal lawmakers in the assignment are listed for ratification this weekend.

A two-day arrangement has been made for the experts and the federal lawmakers to have a final look at the recommendations before the final consideration, Quest Times reports.

Quest Times gathered that a major recommendation by the experts is the removal of immunity for criminal offences for those currently covered by the controversial Section 308 of the constitution.

Those captured under it include the president, vice president, governors and deputy governors.

If the amendment is ratified at the meeting scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Nigerian governors indicted for criminal offences will henceforth be impeached and prosecuted.

Politics / Aliyu: Some Northerners Made It Impossible For Jonathan To Crush Boko Haram by Mazulu: 8:57am On Jan 31, 2022
Former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu has made revelations that has got people talking.

According to him, it was some Northerners that deliberately made it hard for Goodluck Jonathan to defeat Boko Haram for their personal and political interest.

In his own words: “When Boko Haram started and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan’s government started doing something about it, it fell on former President Jonathan to carry on.

“Many northerners misconstrued his (Jonathan) position at that time and for political purposes, they threw many arguments that made it impossible for the proper articulation and proper implementation of policies that would have got rid of Boko Haram and now, we still have them till today.

“The banditry that many of us thought was impossible to happen, I am yet to hear from anybody about the statement credited to Kawu Baraje, our former PDP national chairman in Kwara State, when he stated that they brought the bandits or Fulani from other places. I think based on the thinking that probably former President Jonathan wouldn’t have handed over power even if they had won, but he handed over.
“He congratulated them even before the conclusion proper counting of votes which then took away whatever purposes of bringing those people would have served and I would have thought that if that is true, then those who brought them in would have compensated them to go back to where they came from.

”Today it’s so unfortunate that you probably have to be praying when you leave Abuja for Kaduna or Kaduna to Abuja or indeed, particularly in the northern states.
“Now, even in the daytime, you can’t drive freely and comfortably. So, I believe that the first port of call for fighting insecurity is the governors. Maybe you heard me in Kano when I was saying could one be greater than 19 because at one time, even though the circumstances were different, we had one man for 19 states and now, we have 19 governors and still, we have more problems than we did the last time.”

Politics / Northerners Are Better Managers Of The Nation Than Southerners -- Miyetti Allah by Mazulu: 8:13am On Jan 31, 2022
National president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, has revealed that the group will not support a southern presidential aspirant in 2023.

According to him, Northerners are better managers of the nation than Southerners.

In his own words, “Even though Nigeria is one, we are not going to support a southerner as president. A president from the north is better because northerners are better managers of the nation than southerners.

“The north has demonstrated that there is no difference among them in the region. They don’t show this is Fulani, this is Hausa, and this is this and that, unlike in the south. Northern people have managed the country better than southerners.
“If your enemy asks you to join him to scatter your father’s house, can you support him to break your father’s house? You shouldn’t do that. But if he overshadows you and you help him to accomplish that, you would cry later.
“It will be very difficult for a southerner to manage Nigeria the way a northerner would. The northerners that are ruling or governing were trained by our leaders that ruled the country before.

“RUGA is politicians’ language of politicians, while cattle colony is the language of people who want to eat government money. We have grazing reserves,” he said.
“All these governors, before they were born, we had these grazing reserves. Some were gazetted, while others were not.
“Why they don’t want to give us back the grazing reserves is what I don’t know. Last two weeks, the governor of Jigawa invited me to come and see the kind of grazing reserves they have and I spent five days visiting them.

“Ortom wants to be a hero by force. After the end of his tenure, even to be a councillor in his village, he can’t get it. He is doing politics with the Fulani.
“He was the first person that called for the stoppage of Fulani from grazing their cattle, but we went to court to stop his evil plot and that is why he is running here and there, asking Buhari to declare Fulani organisations as terrorist groups.
“Which name has he not called Fulani? Nigerians should ignore him. He is a joker.”

Events / 7 Kinds Of People You’d Meet In A Nigerian Wedding Party by Mazulu: 11:59am On Jan 21, 2022
The Attachees
These ones know neither the bride nor the groom, but that’s nobody’s business. They are the mogbo moyas of the world—aka I heard and I came. You know how a friend invites you to the wedding of their friend's wedding because they can’t just come alone and then you show up with your own friends?. Ehen.
After all, what are friends for? You know the painful part? They’d sit down and eat two plates of food, and still order for the one they’d take home. Wetin concern them? They cannot come and go and kee themselves.

The Professional Dancer
These ones are very dangerous to your health—well if it’s your wedding. These guys have mastered all the dance steps in the world and since no musician has invited them to come and join them in shooting a music video, they want to come and steal the shine of the wedding. They will dance and dance and dance and dance until you will begin thinking that they are the bride. Ajegunle Beyonce, take your dance moves elsewhere. It’s my wedding here. Nonsense.

Mr Prospecting
This guy actually sewed that design he’s putting on specifically for the wedding. He looks charming from head to toe, but while the rest of you are there for the wedding, he’s there for the ladies. He had promised himself that he’s taking one home and that he’s getting at least 5 numbers from ladies he’ll follow up on. His English is so polished and it doesn’t take time for him to sweep you off your feet, but be sure that it will end in tears. Breakfast load din din din

Sister Spinster
This one is the female equivalent of Mr Prospecting, only that she’s not looking to get anyone into her bed. While she actually attended the wedding more for herself than for the bride, she is actively on the lookout for Mr Right. She’d serve, do the running around, attend to guests and still slay in one fell swoop. She’s not shy to say hello to a prospective Mr Right—the full-bearded, handsome, sweet-talking, impeccable English-speaking charming one. Abeg who no like better thing? I know what you’re thinking, but I won’t say it.

The Food fighters
This set of people came to the wedding for one and only purpose—to eat; and they will do anything to get their hands on a bowl of jollof rice. They’d abuse, cajole, quarrel and compel the servers till they get their hands on a plate of food.

The Observers
These ones are so quiet you’d wonder for a moment if they were dragged to the wedding against their will. They’re mostly on their phone, punching and laughing away, while observing the proceedings. If jollof gets to them, fine, if it doesn’t, fine too. After all, Lukmon na person name.

Mr. Uninvited
These ones don’t know anybody, they just realized that there’s a wedding happening and decided to try their luck. Don’t be surprised when you see them telling elaborate stories of how they met the groom. All na scam. Don’t underestimate what party jollof and cool bottles of Orijin can make people do. Who no like better thing?

Politics / Magodo Estate Invasion: Reps Summon IGP, Malami by Mazulu: 7:53am On Jan 20, 2022
The House of Representatives has determined that the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami and Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba will be probed over their alleged involvement in the invasion of Magodo Estate by policemen.

The matter was reported to the house by Ademorin Kuye and Rotimi Agunsoye, both of whom are lawmakers representing Lagos.

Recall that Governor Sanwo-Olu was at the estate a few days ago to talk to the police to move away from there and they refused–in the full glare of the public.

According to Kuye,:

“Several attempts have been made by the Lagos state government from 2012 to 2015 to settle the matter amicably, making different engagements, with the judgement creditors presenting a proposal for reallocation in the Magodo Residential Scheme within the Badagry area of the state which some of them accepted.

“The Lagos state government again in 2016 initiated a settlement to reallocate Ibeju Lekki Coastal Scheme located in the Ibeju Lekki area, but this was rejected by the lead plaintiff, chief Adebayo Adeyiga, as the government continues to dialogue with the majority of the judgement creditors to reach a consensus towards implementing the judgement.

“Despite the ongoing settlement efforts and the pendency of an interlocutory injunction dated December 1, 2020, before the court of appeal seeking an order restraining him and his agents, chief Adeyiga, purportedly encouraged by the attorney-general of the federation and the inspector-general of police, stormed the estate with unknown bailiffs and armed security operatives to execute a judgement that was purportedly delivered by Lagos High Court.

“The execution being presently executed through the office of the AGF with the connivance of the IGP is illegal, as only the Lagos state deputy sheriff can execute same [sic] and not thugs aided by policemen.”

It remains to be seen if they will honour the invitation.

Crime / Ritualists Now Target Bald Men, Believe Their Heads Contain Gold — Police Warn by Mazulu: 4:39am On Jan 20, 2022
Police in Mozambique have warned bald men that they could be at risk of attack after a spate of killings thought to be motivated by a local belief that their hairless heads contain gold, Quest Times reports.

It was gathered two people have been arrested in the central province of Zambezia over the deaths of three men, one of whom was decapitated and had his organs removed.

The suspects told detectives that they were working on commission from clients in Malawi and Tanzania, who wanted to get rich with the help of witchcraft, according to The Times report.

Politics / President Buhari Cancels FEC Meeting Again by Mazulu: 6:55am On Jan 12, 2022
The weekly Federal Executive Council meeting that holds every Wednesday at the Presidential Villa would not be holding today January 12, 2022, Quest Times reports.

At least three ministers who pleaded anonymity confirmed to Quest Times that President Muhammadu Buhari approved a recommendation from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Boss Mustapha to cancel today’s meeting.

Mustapha had proposed that the resumption of the weekly FEC meeting in the new year be delayed because a number of ministers had taken the opportunity of the end of the year and new year festivities to take their annual vacations and won’t return until next week.

Recall that at the end of last year FEC held two meetings in the week leading to Christmas. One meeting was on the regular Wednesday December 22, 2021 and then a special meeting on the following Thursday December 23, 2021.

Since then FEC has not held for two weeks and today’s cancellation would be the third straight week FEC would not be meeting. There is no confirmation as yet whether the FEC will resume next week, but one of the Council members said the President is not likely to tolerate any further delay of the resumption of the weekly cabinet meeting.

Said the source who is among those who conformed the cancellation to this newspaper “the President’s body language is not to overstretch the vacation time especially as he has several targets set for 2022 that he insists must be met.”
