Webmasters / Re: The Official Imo State Website by mcfranc(m): 11:14am On Jun 29, 2011
I used to know the Imo State official website to be different from this scrap. The former website was a masterpiece and a site to reckon with. In fact, in sincerity, it was the best of all the state website in Nigeria. This is another type of lack of continuity. Why not consolidate on an existing project and improve on it rather than pull it down and upload a selfish and self-centered scrap to represent the image a state?

This is very disappointing, annoying and to say the least, disheartening.

Webmasters / Re: Why Most Webmasters Are Quite Poor! by mcfranc(m): 11:26am On Apr 18, 2011
This thread is making a lot of sense. Admittedly, most webmasters are not doing fine because of many factors some of which have been highlighted my many of you. One factor that have helped me stay afloat and i have leveraged on over time is "Recommendation". I have had many of my clients if not all of them recommending me to their business associates, friends and family members for web jobs because of my past jobs.

When you get a job, do a clean job, let the touch of professionalism be visible, do your best to deliver it on time and if for any reason you have a setback and cannot meet deadline, inform your client on time. This alone will build confidence in them and they will see you as a reliable fellow to deal with.

Over time, you will see them coming back again. I just sealed a good deal with a client i have never met before in my life through a recommendation from my old client (I had my contact with this old client on Nairaland).

Also, webmasters should start looking at taking advantage of the wealth on the web. Get into internet marketing (I make a good living online). I do this when i do not have a major work from clients. I have built over 20 personal sites and making money from it.
Webmasters / Re: Postoffice.com.ng - Review Needed by mcfranc(m): 3:23pm On Apr 08, 2011
Nice site. Use the png extension for your logo with a transparent background. That will make the logo blend with the header background.

Webmasters / Re: Is There Any Traffic Software by mcfranc(m): 12:45pm On Nov 09, 2010
Stop looking for traffic software! By experience, they don't worth it especially on the long run. Take time and do your SEO and generate pure organic, search engine friendly traffic. In summary TRAFFIC = HARDWORK+PATIENCE. Period!

Webmasters / Re: What Is The Best Web Desgin Software by mcfranc(m): 12:26pm On Nov 03, 2010
Why stress yourself using notepad when you can get your job done fast with powerful softwares and open source.
I guess that suggest why we have a lot of poorly designed sites by Nigerian web Designers.

This is another dimension of terrorism. It is called cyber terrorism. I has posted a news i read in The Sun Newspaper earlier last week but not really sure what happed to it. Here is the link - http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/features/special-%20reports/2010/sept/25/special-report-25-09-2010-001.htm

Nigerian Webmasters should start taking web security very serious.
Webmasters / Re: Joomla Freight Management Component, Or Module {need Help?} by mcfranc(m): 5:58pm On Oct 03, 2010
Like my Ogas said. Its better to build a stand alone application and integrate it into your joomla site.

@dhtml, i wouldn't mind if you start a thread on building modules and components for joomla. We have gurus in the house like Lojik, Dual Core, Donpuzo and co that will help you.
Webmasters / Re: Planning On Quitting And Going Freelance by mcfranc(m): 4:44pm On Sep 30, 2010
The fear of what will become of us when we make CHANGES has kept many of us stagnant. I once got to a crossroad where i have to decide whether to work for a coy or become my own boss. I went for the latter. Starting out was not rosy at all but today i am far far better off.

If your mind is off the place, take your leave for good. Hopefully, in fews months to come you will be glad you did.

Webmasters / Re: Review This Site by mcfranc(m): 8:42pm On Sep 01, 2010
Check the blue mouse-over on the navigation bar, was it deliberate or a mistake? Like others have observed, the header should be redesigned. The column on the right side is to long. Try splitting it on both sides or move some content to the middle to avoid your visitor having to scroll down to read.
