Politics / Anambra Philanthropist Endorses Obiano For Second Term by Mecco(m): 5:10am On Nov 14, 2017
*Chief Agummadu hosts the People of Agulu Awka in support of Governor Willie Obiano Reelection.*

It was indeed a huge success today as the people of Agulu Awka trooped out en mass to support one of their own *Chief Emeka . J. Agummadu* popularly known as *Baby Agujiegbe.*

*Chief Emeka . J. Agummadu* is a known name especially to the downtrodden in the society. He is a philanthropist with a difference.

Today , he called on his people to sensitize them on the need to reelect His Excellency *Chief Willie Obiano*. What observers thought to be a sensitization movement later turned out to be a carnival because of the testimony of good governance in Anambra State.
The crowd that came out was unprecedented.
The joy , happiness and love for APGA and their son Chief Agummadu made the people to patiently wait from morning till evening when the event ended . The mammoth crowd was sort of a revolt against all the opposition party in this November 18th Guber Election. Baby Agujiegbe keenly explained how they will vote for APGA 100% and equally protect their votes. It was discovered that Agulu Awka is arguably the biggest community with the highest voting strength in Nigeria having 27 Pooling Units.

Powerful stakeholders from Awka South joined the Carnival for the Reelection of Willie Obiano. The event had in attendance Hon. Nnamdi Okafor (Member Representing Awka South 1 in Anambra State House of Assembly), Awka South Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Leo Nwuba and many APGA stalwarts.

Chief Agummadu took his time to reel out the achievements of the Governor in 3.5years and also used the opportunity to advise the opposition on hate speeches and creating confusion in our land . He further said that "Envy" has been the opposition problem which made them to play Politics of bitterness and calumny.

In response, the oldest man in Umubele village, Awka , Nze Nweke Ekwunife said that His Excellency has achieved the best by providing Security for Ndi Anambra.

In his words he said " My son Agujiegbe, you should know that nothing good comes easy, that is why people easily forget how it was before Willie Obiano came.
We never slept with our eyes closed but today , we sleep and snore .
You are a good man , that's why everybody in Agulu Awka came out. If you look around here , you will see the love the people have for you. And as the oldest man here , I assure you that we will give APGA our vote because it is the legacy of our hero Ojukwu and the pride of Ndi Igbo. Without wasting our time, I will end by saying that Willie Obiano has already won . Thank you very much."

Ndi Anambra , what more can we say ?, a vote for APGA is a vote for the progress of our dear State.

Politics / No Rigging In Anambra State Guber Election By Ogbuefi Comrade Harris Chuma by Mecco(m): 6:20am On Nov 09, 2017
TEXT OF THE SPEECH DELIVERED BY COMRADE HARRIS CHUMA, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR INDEPENDENT MEDIA SUPPORT ORGANIZATION (IMSO) AT THE PRESS BRIEFING HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2017 AT NEW JERUSALEM INT'L HOTEL, AWKA, ANAMBRA STATE.

Good Day. Distinguished Gentlemen of the Press.

We welcome you to this press briefing, one in the series of interactions scheduled as we get set for the 2017 gubernatorial election in Anambra State. I must say it has been an interesting one so far, dogged by all shades of demeanours. While some political parties are contributing to the electoral discourse by highlighting steps that would enrich the state, selling their manifestoes to the electorate, others have chosen to remain in the past, feeling comfortable with their hopes in the 'sanctity of electoral fraud', as if Nigeria, has not left that pathway.

Surprising, however, is the seeming indifference of the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, once again, casting doubts on the level of 'independence' being ascribed to the body in this situation. By now, Nigeria should be making efforts to join the league of truly democratic nations in the world, where power belongs to the people, and not the members of the cabal who feel they can pull the strings at will to lord their wishes over the electorate.

They boast about their connections at the centre, telling the electorate about their might in the game of power and how they have no choice in determining who emerges as their leaders. Now this is a dangerous trend which must be avoided, especially in Anambra State, as we get set for the polls on November 18.

We at the Independent Media Support Organisation, IMSO, have been at the vanguard of calling for free and fair elections, not only in Anambra but in Nigeria in general. This is essentially because that is the right thing to do. That is the basis of good governance, and the tonic that attracts dignity and support for elected officials.

In the past couple of weeks, some disturbing reports about plans by the All Progressives Congress, APC to manipulate the electoral process in Anambra have been making the rounds, yet these reports have neither been investigated by the authorities nor denied by the party, laying credence to the reports. Aside reports of the arrest of some of their members with sensitive electoral materials which should only be in the custody of INEC, some of their party bigwigs have deployed resources to some communities to buy PVCs with the hope of disenfranchising voters in the stronghold of other parties and using same to conduct their secret polls. But this will fail woefully, because the people of Anambra have grown beyond this sham and are ready to demonstrate it on November 18.

The most worrisome aspect which seems to be the last in their chain of arsenal is the plan to militarise and intimidate the citizens of the state using state powers that will be monitored from Abuja. This is ugly and portends great danger considering the history of the state democratically. This evil plan to shave the heads of Anambra people with despotic bravado will only stimulate resistance from Ndi Anambra and could lead to break down of law and order.

A few weeks ago, there were reports of secret recruitment into a fake Army being conducted in IMO State, another state being governed by APC, where the vulnerability of the unemployed youths is being exploited with N300,000, so they can invade Anambra to intimidate voters and cart away ballot boxes. This may have worked in other places, but we in Anambra, out of the love for our state, shall resist such inglorious moves by both the fake and real Army being positioned for this. Desperation for power could indeed lead to lots of ignoble deeds, as being exemplified by the APC.

For instance, words also have it that the President's men in Abuja, who are working in concert with APC stalwarts in Anambra State are being wooed with promises that the popular Zik's Avenue in Awka will be renamed Buhari Avenue with a massive statue of the President built at the popular Eke Awka Roundabout to further launder the image of the President ahead of the 2019 elections. This can only elicit laughter in us. Trading off such legacies for manipulative electoral favours by leaders of APC in the state is quite unfortunate and highlights the deep hatred of these people for their Igbo brothers.

Meanwhile, we wish to commend the people of Anambra for the discipline they have exhibited so far and urge them to continue to do so, but must rise to make sure that their votes count in determing who governs them. Ndi Anambra must not only vote, but MUST protect their votes.
Thank you.!

God bless Anambra!
God bless Nigeria!

Politics / Obiano’s Magic Wand Births ABS Digital Television And Radio by Mecco(m): 7:58pm On Nov 07, 2017
Obiano’s Magic Wand Births ABS Digital Television and Radio

Emeka Ozumba wrote...

The transformation of the Anambra State Broadcasting Service (ABS) from a dilapidated and almost forgotten institution of into a modern broadcasting station in 2017 is yet another testimonial to the Obiano magic wand which pervades all sectors of Anambra State life.

As the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano commissions the station ultra-modern digital television and radio studios today November 3, 2017, the management and staff of the station are justifiably elated at the reality of transcending the vagaries of analogue system era into the vast opportunities of multiple programming encoded on digitally processed and multiplexed signal. In other words, ABS radio and television broadcasts can now be tracked on terrestrial, cable and satellite.

The birth of a digitalized ABS is no mean feat especially at this time of dire financial challenges and socioeconomic hardships. It seems like yesterday when in late 2014 Governor Obiano stated that he will turn ABS into the CNN of Nigeria with state of the art equipment. The reality of this momentous achievement among many others tends to suggests that either the governor is immune to the realities of the national economic crunch or that he gets his priorities right. The latter is confirmed in the eternal words of former American President, Ronald Reagan who stated: “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” Whereas his predecessors met the enormous challenges of the state’s media institutions and ran for cover, Obiano stuck out his neck and has made a huge difference.

Perhaps the only other time such sense of celebration was felt in broadcast circle around the South-East was when former Governor Jim Nwobodo launched the then Anambra State Television (ATV) in 1981. Today, it has taken the visionary drive of another farsighted leader in Obiano with an unwavering can-do spirit; the commitment of a management board which shares in the vision, and a hands-on and pragmatic Managing Director, Nze Uche Nworah who has instituted a new culture of service and excellence in ABS for ndi Anambra to once again proudly beat their chest at being amongst the elite radio/television stations, if not the first in the South-East region to join the rest of the world in the entire process of digital migration.

Governor Obiano has shown consistency and proof of credentials as a dogged achiever. He has demonstrated this in the area of security of lives and property, the agricultural revolution, and now in the revitalized information and communication institutions of the new ABS and National Light newspapers to mention a few. By actions and deeds, Akpokuodike is expanding the frontiers of excellence in Anambra and his footprints are dotting the landscape. Like the American country music artiste Dolly Parton averred, “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader.” Barely three and half years on the saddle, Obiano has left markers of a man of legacy and the new ABS studios is one.

As the new ABS studios is commissioned today, let us join millions of our kit and kin both at home and in diaspora who will derive fulfillment in the daily information flow from the home-front across all corners of the globe to commend the efforts of the digital governor, the ABS management and staff on the momentous achievement. Congratulations.

Politics / Governor Obiano's Strategy And Why Anambra Did Not Get Into Recession by Mecco(m): 10:38am On Oct 30, 2017
Gov Obiano's Strategy and Why Anambra Did Not Get Into Recession

1. Usual solution to recession is to pump more money into the economy to keep money in circulation and increase disposable income of all indigenes

2. Gov Obiano kept paying state civil servants and ensured that LGA civil servants got paid. This meant that over N2.5 billion is in circulation monthly from salaries alone. Salary funds circulating in the Anambra economy totaled to over N30 billion in the last 12 months.

3. Total funds paid out as salaries which eventually got injected into Anambra economy in 3 1/2 years of Gov Obiano's administration is over N105 billion. These funds circulated in the Anambra economy compared to 26 other states.

4. The Community Development projects injected a minimum of over N3.6 billion in the rural communities within the same space of 6 months from when the recession was announced

5. Other funds totaling approx. N40bn got into the economy from road construction and other projects executed by the government.

6. The security in Anambra state allowed more businesses to invest in Anambra and businessmen to sustain their trading enterprises across nooks and crannies of the State, resulting to more inflow of funds into Anambra.

7. So now you see why paying salaries and creating a safe environment is such a big deal in the present Nigeria

8. Can Gov Obiano's opponents do this?

Gov Obiano has been tested and trusted, why try someone else?

#ReElectObiano for continuity of a stable Anambra economy.

REVELATIONS BY DR. PATRICK IFEANYI UBAH

I watched critically the appearance of Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah on Focus Nigeria with Gbenga Aruleba today 19th September, 2017.

Gentlemen , this is a total expose of what we have been singing about godfatherism which the former Governor Mr. Peter denied . Today, we are left with no option than to believe that some of our leaders constantly lie to their followers and still come back to brainwash them when busted .

Joe Martins Uzodike went on air (Odenigbo fm) and demanded #7billion from Obiano on behalf of Peter Obi which they claimed was part of the agreement to make Chief Willie Obiano the Governor of Anambra State.
When I reported it after the radio programme, some people called for my head. Today, I have been vindicated.
But my worry is why Peter Obi did not take the #7billion when he claimed to have left #75billion for Obiano.
In the process of research, I found out that the over-blown #75billion were not in cash, some to mature when Obiano must have left office, so why brainwashing Ndi Anambra (the gullible) that the money was in cash and that Obiano has finished all?

So many questions to ask but let's augment our research with the latest revelations by Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (CEO Capital Oil).

These are the revelations made by Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah this morning on AIT Focus Nigeria(Some quotes).......

"The problem we had in PDP emanated from Rivers State and Gov. Wike is a hatchet who is on a mission to kill PDP".

"OBI is the architect of PDP's presidential election defeat".

"Mr. Peter Obi did not rig the Anambra PDP primaries because he wants PDP to win Anambra guber election, but to box Gov. Willie Obiano into paying him the N7billion 2013 election fund".

He finally concluded with this....

"I challenge Peter OBI today to a debate on AIT's Focus Nigeria to prove to Nigerians with evidences that OBI is demanding #7billion from Gov Obiano.

My people, Ifeanyi Ubah promised to reveal more as the series progresses .

And the big question now is..

Will Peter Obi go for the debate where he will face Ifeanyi Ubah to deny the #7billion demanded from Gov. Obiano which is the reason for their disagreement and serious feud??

Bridge expansion joints are designed to allow for continuous traffic between structures while accommodating movement, shrinkage, and temperature variations on reinforced and pre-stressed concrete, composite, and steel structures.

Cracks in concrete can’t be prevented completely, but they can be prohibited or minimized by properly designed joints. Concrete cracks are caused because:

The Concrete is weak in tension, if its natural tendency to shrink is restrained, in such a way that tensile stresses exceed the tensile strength it can develop, it will result in cracking.

At early stages, cracking is caused by temperature changes or by slight contractions that take place as the concrete sets and hardens. As the concrete dries, it shrinks further developing additional cracks or widening preexisting cracks.

HENCE, Joints provide relief from the tensile stresses. Joints are easy to maintain and are less detrimental than uncontrolled or uneven cracks.

BREAKING NEWS: ANAMBRA CENTRAL SENATORIAL ELECTION

The Supreme Court on Thursday 11th May, 2017 struck the interlocutory appeal filed by the PDP challenging the decision of the Court of Appeal, which grants Chief Sir Victor Umeh the leave to appeal the judgement of the Federal High Court Abuja, delivered by Justice Anuli Chikere.

Recall that Justice Anuli Chikere gave some contradicting Judgement which she later resolved herself.

The Supreme Court also gave an order for accelerated hearing on the matter.

Also, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, seriously warned Peter Obi's lawyer never to appear in court for the PDP. He made it clear that PDP National Secretariat is not aware of any court case concerning Anambra Central.

Ndi be Anyi, the storm is over as we await INEC's urgent response.

Politics / Umeh: Give Anambra Central A Senator Now by Mecco(m): 7:21pm On May 05, 2017
UMEH: GIVE ANAMBRA CENTRAL A SENATOR NOW

Almost two years after the Eighth National Assembly was inaugurated, Anambra Central Senatorial District is still not represented in the Senate, following the nullification of the election of Uche Ekwunife. In this interview, one of the candidates eyeing the seat and a former APGA chairman, Chief Victor Umeh‎ expressed concerns over the delay in holding an election to choose a senator for the district. He spoke with David-Chyddy Eleke

Q: Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige recently said that the Anambra Central Senatorial rerun election would not hold until all pending court cases are cleared, what is your reaction?

A: I was surprised to read those audacious statements by Dr Chrs Ngige. My surprise stems from the fact that I could not fathom under what capacity Ngige was saying categorically that the poll can never take place until all court cases are cleared. From the question you asked me, he is the Minister of Labour and Employment, he does not work for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that is empowered by the constitution to conduct elections.

Am aware that INEC has a legal department, staffed by qualified lawyers, and if there s any matter that will prevent the commission from conducting election, the commission will say so at any point in time, based of prevailing circumstances. This is not the first time that Ngige has made this claim, he has made it before at Easter on radio, saying the same thing at an APC meeting corroborates all that we have been hearing that APC will do everything to ensure that INEC does not conduct that election.

Q: Now, what then do you think could be holding the rerun election, if not the court cases as Ngige said?

A: My reaction first is to state clearly that there is nothing, no legal impediment anymore against the conduct of this Anambra central election that has been pending. The cases Ngige cited in his outburst clearly cannot stop INEC from conducting that election. The issue of the eligible candidates who can take part in a court ordered fresh election or rerun election has been permanently settled by the Supreme Court of Nigeria in its judgment in a case between Labour Party and INEC, which judgment was delivered on the 13th February 2009.

That judgment was an endorsement of judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal, Kaduna Division on 10th April 2008, to the effect that elections that are ordered by court through nullifications do not admit new candidates.

Labour Party had attempted to put a new candidate in a governorship election in Adamawa, which was nullified by the Court of Appeal tribunal, and the Court of Appeal, Kaduna division in a very detailed judgment said such an election did not admit fresh candidate as only candidates that were qualified and took part in the earlier election could participate in the fresh election. Labour Party dragged the matter to Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court affirmed that judgment. Unfortunately, people like Ngige are pretending not to know this position of the law.

As early as January 2016, when PDP and APC purported to be trying to conduct a primary to choose a candidate that will take part in the election, I cried out that the law did not permit such futile exercise, they didn’t want to accept it, and they continued. Today, it is clear because INEC submitted to this decision of the Supreme Court in the conduct of all the fresh election ordered by the Court of Appeal across the country, after the 2015 general elections.

Candidates that were disqualified by the final decision of the Court of Appeal were not allowed to take part in fresh or rerun elections. It was like that in Kogi State where PDP challenged APC for non conduct of primaries in at least four constituencies, two senatorial district, one federal constituency and two house of assembly seats in Kogi State, as it happened in Anambra Central district. It was PDP that challenged the APC winners at the tribunal, and those elections were nullified. In the fresh elections and repeat elections ordered in that state, APC did not participate in all those elections and PDP won all of them, and all the winners have gone to represent their people.

In Anambra State, where the same situation arose, APC and PDP refused to accept the position of the law and have continued to do all kinds of things to sabotage the law. You are all aware that after the Court of Appeal nullified the election, the PDP candidate went back to the court of appeal to set aside that judgment after losing there she went to the Supreme Court. On 10th January 2017, the apex court, in a unanimous judgment dismissed her appeal, and affirmed that the judgment of the Court of Appeal on that matter was final forever, that is the situation.

Q: INEC was to conduct the rerun election last year in March or so, what happened?

A: Now, this is the position, last year, INEC was to conduct the rerun election on 5th March 2016, but Peter Obi under the cover of PDP went to the Federal High Court. You know that Ekwunife who was candidate of PDP who was disqualified by the Court of Appeal had defected to the APC, and therefore, Obi was put there as a candidate to replace Ekwunife to contest. Four days to the election, the court made an order that the PDP has been included in that election against the law, that judgment was delivered by Justice Anwuli Chikere. You will note that more than eight cases of similar nature came before the same judge and she dismissed them all, except that of Anambra Central where she ordered that the PDP be included. Of course being against the Supreme Court judgment I had earlier stated, INEC decided to appeal against it. In all the previous matters I mentioned from other places, INEC was the only party sued, and the same judge said they cannot do that, I now said why is this one different, and they decided to appeal against it. Of course I applied to appeal against the matter as an interested party, but the judge refused to join me me in the matter. So, when the leave was granted to me, I appealed, INEC appealed, PDP now came with its notorious tactics of frustrating the appeal and challenged the record of the appeal transmitted by the Federal High Court to the Court of Appeal.

On 22 July last year, the Court of Appeal dismissed the PDP’s application and awarded a cost of N100,000 against them. They filed an appeal to the Supreme Court against that ruling, from July 2016, till today, 26th of April, PDP has not filled any brief in pursuit of that appeal at the Supreme Court, they just used it to hang the election, and what they did was that as soon as they filled it, they rushed back to the Court of Appeal and flagged the appeal number before them that they are now in the Supreme Court, and therefore the Court of Appeal has to wait. They are not interested in pursuing that appeal till today.

Again, on 14th March 2017, in the matter filled by APC and Sharon Ikeazor for substitution, the same court gave judgment and went back to what the law said. Look at what Justice Chikere issued the previous judgment including PDP in the rerun said; this judgment that came up on 5th of April, which I have now forwarded to INEC. The judge said the time for nomination, withdrawal or substitution of candidates for the court ordered election for Anambra Central Senatorial district had elapsed. So by this judgment, the claim that there was an order that PDP should change its candidate has been overtaken. It is the same judge who wrote this, and it is very clear in law that when a judge gives two conflicting judgment on a matter of the same substance, the latter judgment prevails over the earlier. So she has over ruled that judgment so INEC can no longer say they are waiting on that judgment as that appeal against that judgment of PDP has become an academic exercise. That is even if we are going to consider the order made by this court in flagrant breach or disobedience to the earlier decision of the Supreme Court on the same matter on candidates that can take part in court ordered elections.

INEC could have even ignored that first order to go ahead and conduct the election because there is a subsisting Supreme Court judgment on the matter they can rely on to do the election. But to make the matter very clear, the woman now reversed herself and stated the law. So if the law is that there is no room for fresh candidate in fresh court ordered election, there is nothing holding INEC from conducting the election and stopping any fresh candidate. PDP wants a fresh candidate, Ekwunife is gone, disposed both by the Supreme Court and she is not even in existence in this matter anymore, so Peter Obi who is angling to come in as a fresh candidate, and he cannot because this judgment has taken care of it absolutely, so we are waiting for a date for this election to take place, and very urgently too.

Q: In the case of Sharon Ikeazor who was seeking to replace the Ngige, what have you to say? Also, would you be ready to confront Ngige if he joins the race since he took part in the original election and is eligible for the rerun?

A: The court said Sharon Ikeazor cannot substitute Ngige in APC, and the court made the statement very clear. Even Sharon made a statement when this verdict was delivered that she was not going to appeal against it. She had said that she is a lawyer of 30 years standing and knows what the law says, and she called on Ngige to come and contest to save the party. On whether I am ready to do battle with Ngige if he joins, I think you should ask Ngige if he is ready to run. Ngige had said he would not contest because he is on a national assignment, yet he does not want the election to be conducted.

Let me say clearly that from the judgment of Justice Chikere of 14 March 2017, INEC is completely free to fix a date for the election without further delay. The simple order to obey is to exclude any fresh candidate. Peter Obi and anyone else that seek to take part in the election must be someone who had taken part in the 2015 election. INEC could have gone ahead without waiting for any of these things, but it is good that the same judge they are relying on that said PDP should be included now came out boldly to say no fresh candidate to correct herself from whatever happened. I know that INEC is aware of this, but Ngige should not intimidate INEC in the discharge of its constitutional mandate the era of intimidation by ruling parties in Nigeria should be over in line with President Buhari’s promise of change.

We experienced these things during the PDP days, but now that we are in a government that has preached change, nobody should use his membership of the ruling party or any arm of government to intimidate and dictate to INEC. That is what Ngige has demonstrated, and he has said it everywhere. In fact, this is enough for President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Ngige from the Federal Executive Council for embarrassing both APC and the government. All these his machinations and intrigues are targeted at creating problems in the forthcoming governorship elections in the Anambra State.

Having explained these things to you, I want to say that President Buhari and APC should not allow Ngige to use his voodoo politics and treachery to drag APC and the FG to disrepute. Ngige boasting that this election can never hold with certainty is an indication that the party and the government are dictating to INEC on how to conduct its affairs.

Ngige has a long credential of political rigging and treachery and should not be allowed to plunge Anambra State into anarchy. In 2003, Ngige had to go into unholy agreement with some people including striping himself naked in a shrine to take a vow of loyalty, so that he would be rigged into power, under Obasanjo’s presidency. His decision to renege on that agreement brought Anambra State to its knees, culminating into mayhem, where Anambra properties worth billions were destroyed. Because of his bad fate in that unwholesome agreement, he was kidnapped by his sponsors, who in their pursuit of Ngige made Anambra State to suffer nearly three years before he was booted out of office in 2006.

In 2011 again, Prof Dora Akunyili challenged his purported election into the Senate, with abundant evidence of falsified figures in polling units. What did he do? He resorted to the frustration of the hearing of the petition, that led to the tribunal striking out Dora Akunyili’s petition. By the time the court of appeal returned to hear Akunyili’s appeal on merit to the tribunal, the 180 days provided had elapsed, so Akunyili’s petition was struck out because the time provided for hearing had elapsed. That was how Ngige stayed in the senate. A seat he did not win with the peoples decision.

In 2015 again, he came again on the senatorial election, he scored 20,000 votes, I got 86,000 votes to win the election, but PDP falsified the result and rigged themselves in with 93,000 votes. You will recall that Ngige in a press conference described that election as a huge fraud and a charade, but because President Buhari had won the presidential election, he decided not to go to the tribunal to challenge the election, only to pursue a ministerial appointment. So when I challenged the outcome of the election and the election was nullified, he said he won’t come back to the election, and wrote a letter withdrawing. Now that the court has stated the law saying nobody who did not take part in the main election can take part in the rerun, he is now holding brief for everybody, saying that the election should not be conducted again, when he is at liberty as a candidate that took part in that election to come and contest. He wants to keep his ministerial job and stop the election from taking place, that is pure wickedness and a very terrible exhibition of lack of respect for the law, due process and total disregard to the people of Anambra central senatorial district, whom he had sought to represent.

Ngige has now stated that 90 days within which the election should have been conducted had elapsed and that there are matters in court challenging it. That matter was filled on 28 march 2017, Ekwunife sponsored somebody to file a suit, two years after the election they are challenging my nomination as APGA candidate, and in another breath, saying that 90 days had elapsed and the election should no longer take place, that is what Ngige is shamelessly brandishing in the pages of newspapers as the reason why the election should not take place.

Q: Did you say the comment by Ngige was a prelude to the coming governorship election, where APC had vowed to unsit the APGA governor?

A: With all the negative credentials I had mentioned, he cannot do that. It is because our laws are not well strengthened, else Ngige should be in prison by now for all his electoral atrocities. Remember how he came to power in 2003? He is on that partway again, to give APC at the national level the impression that he can win Anambra for them. This a prelude to anarchy. He wants to foist anarchy on us, because of his selfish and wicked ambition to mislead the federal authorities.

Ngige is an opportunist, he became a governor without winning an election, he also went to the Senate under controversial circumstances, and in the 2015 general elections, he did not make any contribution to Buhari winning the presidency of Nigeria, and now he has been able to get in as a minister because he was a member of APC. What did he deliver to APC in 2015? Nothing. He just aligned with APC, he was a passive member and made no contribution yet he emerged a minister and he is now making noise.

What he is trying to do now is to pit the APC machinery with the people of Anambra State, am sure he is planning another rigging. So, with this his latest outburst, I want to put it clearly to APC, Buhari and INEC to shun the antics of Ngige and not to do anything that will undermine the rule of law. Anambra has taken a lot of bullying, and people like Ngige cannot continue to have a field day.

This election should be conducted, Anambra Central has not had a senator going to two years now, and people are playing games with it and they are happy. Someone who is representing Anambra people is happy that his people do not have a senator. It is a travesty. He is bringing bad name to the federal government, and to the president. Our electoral commission should be left to do its job.

REST ON MODESTA, Chief Victor Umeh remembers his late sister one year after.

Today marks one year since we lost a mother, sister and friend; a strong supporter and immediate young sister of Chief Sir (Dr.) Victor Umeh OFR, Ohamadike Ndigbo.

Unfortunately, we lost Mrs Modesta Adaku Alado JP (Solid Gold) about two weeks after the shocking news of the postponement of the 5th March 2016 rerun election for which she laboured and campaigned vigorously.

We remember Mrs Modesta Adaku Alado for her gentle and Christian Life that was full of kindness and love for all that came across her. The constant smile that radiates from her heart with which she embraced everyone... Modesta's demise remains a great loss to the Umeh and the Alado families as well as for everyone who had the opportunity of associating with her. May her soul continue to rest in peace!

"We also once again use this opportunity to thank everyone that commiserated with us" - Chief Victor Umeh

Let us remain focused and steadfast with our support for Chief Sir (Dr) Victor Umeh OFR, Ohamadike Ndigbo until that which Modesta wished and worked for is actualized.

God bless your efforts...

Politics / Endorsement Of Obiano By Ndi Anambra North: My Take On Obaze, Nwoye, Obidigbo An by Mecco(m): 11:54am On Mar 06, 2017
Endorsement of Obiano by ndi Anambra North: My Take on Obaze, Nwoye, Obidigbo and others

The event of Sunday February 26, 2017 has altered the political firmament in Anambra North Senatorial zone. Feathers were ruffled but the outcome of the event will continue to resonate and form a topic for discourse as we approach the election month.

Anambra North People’s Assembly (ANPA), an apex socio cultural group for the people of Anambra North Senatorial district, just last week announced its unalloyed unflinching support to Gov Willie Obiano, endorsing him for a 2nd term in office and adopting him as the sole candidate from the zone.

The question that begs for answer from the perspective of a layman reads, ‘Is Obiano deserving of such support?' And what a better way to answer that critical question other than to take an unbiased look at the changes which have taken place in Anambra State since March 17, 2014 when he assumed leadership.

Adopting the motion moved by Chief Michael Areh from Onitsha to endorse Obiano as their sole candidate and seconded by Hon Pharm Obinna Emenaka from Anambra West, ANPA declared that, 'Since the Anambra North geopolitical zone has done well through the serving governor Chief Dr Willie Obiano. In order for a viable negotiations to take place between the zone and other zones. It will be beneficial that the zone adopts and supports one candidate in the person of Chief Willie Obiano.'

But before a peek into the intimidating achievements of His Excellency, it is pertinent we focus a little bit on the credibility of the endorsement and its significance. Anambra North Senatorial Zone which is made up 7 Local Government Areas with about 49 towns realized that 'Anambra North should retain power for another four years so as to complete the maximum eight years in office which would see the circle of equity be completed as other senatorial zones have enjoyed lengthier periods in the past. Thus, it was a general conviction of the people that Anambra North has to win the coming 2017 gubernatorial elections.'

Thus, ANPA led by Chief Emmanuel Achike from Ogbaru set up an ad-hoc committee with former Minister of Health, Dr Tim Menakaya as Chairman to aggregate rational views from viable sons and daughters of the zone who are capable of running for governor and who deserves the support of the people. The idea of multiple candidates from the senatorial district was frowned at by the majority who believed that such situation would cause dissipation of energy and resources within the zone, thus making the chances of Anambra North retaining power slimmer.

Then exhaustive consultations followed with visitation to all major stakeholders before the very significant endorsement done in the presence of who is who from the zone, local government representatives, both state and federal houses members, captains of industries and other opinion moulders.

But why the choice of Obiano? The election drum has started beating louder and louder. Some surprising names but not so surprising, from the Zone have shown interest as far as Anambra Government House is concerned.

The intimidating achievements of His Excellency, Chief willie obiano in less than three years across the 3 senatorial zones is enough to earn him a second term. Obiano has through his people oriented policies and programs raised the tempo of both human and infrastructural development of the state amidst the economic downturn being witnessed in the country.

Here is a governor that foresaw the impending storm and made adequate preparation for the rainy day and while most states are grappling with the harsh reality, Governor Obiano is busy building bridges, putting up landmark infrastructure and increasing workers salaries.

With a well defined vision, Obiano asserted that his mission was to make Anambra State a socially stable, business-friendly environment that would attract both indigenes and foreigners to seek wealth-creating opportunities. And today, in less than three years he has achieved more in that regard.

If Anambra North People’s Assembly (ANPA) could realize this and throw in their support, I wonder why the likes of Oseloka Obaze, Tony Nwoye, Chike Obidigbo and other contenders, all from the same zone, wont tow the same line.

Gov Willie Obiano has demonstrated a strong ambition for greatness. He has shown that given time and resources, he can turn Anambra State into Nigeria’s new postcard for excellence! The records are there for all to see.

Here is a governor who has rid the state of crime and to harness the opportunity this has created, he established the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA). The Agency with the mandate to attract investments and fast-track the process of investing in Anambra State. To date, ANSIPPA has attracted investments valued at way above $4billion to Anambra State, which cut across Agriculture, Trade & Commerce, Manufacturing, Hospitality, Housing, Electricity Generation, Waste Management, Health and Oil and Gas sectors.

Here is a governor who has created at the last count over 52,500 and 200,000 direct and indirect jobs respectively in the aforementioned areas. Training youths in diverse skills and crafts, with great plans for the unemployed in Anambra State.

Here is a governor who turned the landscape of Awka Territory, giving it the alluring beauty it deserves with the construction of 3 modern fly-overs and lighting up the streets.

With all these indices and pointers, the likes of Oseloka Obaze, Tony Nwoye, Chike Obidigbo and other wannabes from that senatorial district are joining the fray at the wrong time. You don’t change a working leadership. You can’t change a winning team. Obiano is setting a standard they should all emulate. The people of Anambra North have decided and I think no individual should be bigger than the community or society he/she represents.

If truly the interest of the zone is what comes first, then these contestants from the zone should do what is honourable and support Governor Obiano as he continue his good work in Anambra State.

Politics / As Anambra North Terminates Governorship Ambitions Of Obaze, Obidigbo And Others by Mecco(m): 5:03am On Mar 05, 2017
As Anambra North Terminates Governorship Ambitions of Obaze, Obidigbo and Others; What Next?

The recent decision of the people of Anambra North senatorial district to stop other governorship aspirants from the zone and jointly support the incumbent, Chief Willie Obiano in the forthcoming gubernatorial election is like a death penalty on some personal ambitions.

It would have been a lesser hurdle for these aspirants if the decision was taken by a few persons or one of the numerous mushroom groups from the Anambra North senatorial district. But coming from Anambra North People's Assembly, ANPA led by Chief Emmanuel Achike from Ogbaru, the people have spoken and nothing can be done about it.

More so, the resolution to adopt Governor Willie Obiano as the sole candidate from the zone was arrived at after series of consultations, meeting with the different aspirants and careful assessment by a committee headed by former Minister of Health, Dr Tim Menakaya as earlier set up by ANPA, the apex sociopolitical group of the people of Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Ogbaru, Onitsha North and Onitsha South local government areas that make up Anambra North senatorial district.

On Sunday, February 26, 2017, in the presence of men of timber and caliber, the motion to adopt Obiano was moved by a renowned political juggernaut from Onitsha, Chief Mike Areh (Ede Gbogbo Gaga) and seconded by the honourable member representing Anambra East in the State House of Assembly, Pharm Obinna Emenaka before an overwhelming support from the general house which had all the seven local government areas within Anambra North zone fully represented.

Unlike the usual political endorsements, ANPA based their decision on the fact that Obiano has achieved beyond expectations in just 3 years and as such deserves to serve out the remaining four years meant for the senatorial district. Thus, ANPA resolved that, "It was generally admitted that since the Anambra North geopolitical zone has done well through the serving governor Chief Dr Willie Obiano. In order for a viable negotiations to take place between the zone and other zones. It will be beneficial that the zone adopts and supports one candidate In the person of Chief Willie Obiano."

Interestingly, virtually all other aspirants from the zone contested the same office in 2013 and were at one stage or the other defeated by Obiano. Talking of Oseloka Henry Obaze (OHO), he has long launched his campaign promising restoration. One wonders what OHO really wishes to restore because he served in the present government as Secretary to the State Government or does he want to restore the forgone days of anarchy in the State?

Then there's Chike Obidigbo, who probably is still nursing grudges against Obiano and his party, APGA for loosing out in the build up to the 2013 elections. Recently, Dr Obidigbo accused Obiano of not having a manifesto but was quickly replied by the governor's team and to a greater extend berated for not being aware of the Blue Prints of the incumbent governor that he sort to replace.

Aside these two, there are other aspirants who spend more time gambling to be favoured by supposed godfathers than they spend campaigning for support from the people. First is Tony Nwoye, a young aspirant of All Progressives Grand Alliance who lost to Obiano in the last guber election as PDP candidate. His only strength is the much talked about support of the Ukpo born oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze.

Also in this category is Raph Okeke from Anambra West. His recent declaration to contest the gubernatorial election is somewhat suspicious. While some say he is favoured by the absence of President Buhari through Tinubu connection, others insinuate that Dr Chris Ngige is angling to have him as a godson. Hon Okeke was the running mate to Dr Chris Ngige in 2013 and in 2015, he contested for Senate under same party, APC.

Politics being a game not so lucid to the public there could be other aspirants waiting to declare or probably consulting behind the scene until the dream terminating decision of ANPA. A decision taken in the presence of all the who is who from Anambra North senatorial district vis a viz; members of the National and State Assemblies, leaders of religious and traditional institutions, major political stakeholders and captains of industries.

So the question remains, what is the fate of these known and unknown aspirants from Anambra North zone? Will they respect the wishes of the people of their senatorial district and allow the governor to complete a second term or will they disobey same people that will vote them into office and dare to contest against Obiano?

The decision is theirs but the power remains with the people. Being that politicians from other zones will also align with the idea of Obiano completing the 2nd four years of Anambra North instead of supporting a new person from the region who will naturally seek another term; the best decision for Obaze, Obidigbo, Nwoye, Okeke and a host of others is to sheath their swords, swallow their vividly selfish ambitions and support their brother, who is clearly willingly working for ndi Anambra.

Politics / Anambra Central Senatorial Election Part 2 by Mecco(m): 10:23pm On Mar 01, 2017
ANAMBRA CENTRAL SENATORIAL ELECTION 2

The movement of Anambra Central Senatorial is not just for Anambra State alone but for the good of Igbo Nation.

It is sad and disheartening that our own people are trying their possible best to forestall the movement for the emancipation of the Igbo Nation.

The Judgement of the Supreme Court on the 10th of February 2017 laid all other matters as regards Anambra Central to rest. In this,it clearly means that the Judgement of 7th December 2015 by the Appeal Court subsists .

The Supreme Court Judgement read by Justice Aminu Adamu Augie (JSC) re-awakened the 7th December 2015 Judgement which ordered INEC to conduct Election for Anambra Central excluding PDP, and this means that the Judgement must be obeyed in consonance with Section 287(1) of the Constitution the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, which provides as follows : "287 (1) The decisions of the Supreme Court shall be enforced in any part of the Federation by all authorities, persons , and by Courts with subordinate jurisdiction to that of the Supreme Court.

The implication of the finality of the Supreme Court judgement has been spelt out in the case of Adigun v. A.-G., Oyo State (No.2) (1987)2 NWLR (Pt.56)197 at 214-215, paras. H-B,Eso,JSC said as follows :

"The decision of the Supreme Court is final. Final in the sense of real finality in so far as the particular case before that Court is concerned. It is final forever".

And this will take us to those claiming or jubilating about "pending cases" to be gullible or oblivious of the provisions of section 87 (10) of the 2010 Electoral Act, as amended, which provides that, "nothing in this section shall empower the courts to stop the holding of primaries or general elections under this Act pending the determination of any suit’.”.

Finally, no Court in Nigeria should entertain further the case of Anambra Central because the matter has been concluded by the Supreme Court of Nigeria. So it is paramount now that INEC should fix a date for Anambra Central Senatorial Election.

OUTBOUND MEDICAL TOURISM; THE BANE OF NIGERIAN HEALTH SECTOR! (III)
Thursday, 23rd February, 2017

Recently a US based Nigerian surgeon Dr Oluyinka Olutoye in company of a co-surgeon carried out an intricate surgical operation on a foetus successfully. The baby, named Lynlee Hope, developed a tumour known as Sacrococcygeal Teratoma, while in the womb. The foetus was 23 weeks (5months and 3 weeks) old in the womb when this rarity was performed.

The surgery involved removing the foetus from the womb, operating on it so as to remove the tumour and returning it to the womb. After the surgery, the baby became normal and maintained a healthy growth until she was delivered at the 9th month! This has never happened before, in the history of man and that of medicine. The baby is now developing healthily, enjoying her life. I think, this is another wonder of the world. Hence the doctor deserves a Nobel prize!

This wonder surgery attests to the fantastic and amazing accomplishments of Nigerian doctors in diaspora. If you can refer to article 1 on this topic, you will see where I stated the number of medical professionals of Nigeria extraction in the UK and US. For your sake who might have missed that edition, let me restate it. It is on records that there are about three thousand Nigerian-trained medical professionals in the UK and about five thousand of them in the US. This is not to mention other nations like Saudi Arabia.

Why then is our health sector so backward and behindhand when we have such capacities scattered all over the world? The billions of dollars we waste on medical tourism are more than enough to galvanise those professionals, provide modern facilities and make the environment enabling. Why are we wasting tax payers money on such unpopular trips embarrassing the world at the same time, when so many Nigerians are dying of preventable diseases and other health conditions? This is simply being penny wise pound foolish!

Can you see how much Nigerian professionals are contributing to the GDP of other nations the world over? An Igbo adage says "If you can't moisten your lips, the harmattan will moisten it for you". We failed to harness these rare talents. Hence other nations who saw what we couldn't see poached them away.

Our leaders cannot feign ignorant of the grand and stupendous exploits of our citizens in diaspora. According to Punch newspaper report, The Senior Special Assistant to the President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa disclosed "that Buhari received the news of Dr Olutoye’s feat with excitement and fulfilment and was looking forward to meeting him." They are inexcusable!!!!

Nigerians in diaspora are huge potentials making tremendous positive impacts in all fields of human endeavour. It is therefore so obnoxiously paradoxical and ingloriously ironical that our own sectors are nothing to write home about. They tend to define us as people without direction. So pathetic! While those folks are there crafting an enviable image for us, our leaders out of ineptitude and incompetence are bastardising the image!!

Please tell them to take a step in the right direction and stop wasting our resources! We have what they are looking for overseas. After all, wetin dey for Sokoto, it dey for Shokoto!

Politics / Anambra Central Senatorial Election by Mecco(m): 12:50am On Feb 20, 2017
ANAMBRA CENTRAL SENATORIAL ELECTION

On the 10th of February 2017, the Supreme Court of Nigeria gave a Judgement on the matter that has been impeding the election of Anambra Central Senatorial district. Recall that on the 7th of December 2015, the Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu gave a Judgement that sacked Mrs. Uche Ekwunife as the Senator representing Anambra Central in the Senate. Dissatisfied with the decision of the Appeal Court which is the final Court of all National Assembly matters, she went against the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by appealing the Judgement in the Supreme Court. One will wonder why she went to Supreme Court knowing fully well that all matters regarding National Assembly ends at the the Appeal Court.
Upon pushing unconstitutional adventure to the Apex Court by coating the matter or coining it to look different, the lead Supreme Court Judge , Justice Amina Adamu Augie (JSC) educated her ....

"I can only restate what this Court has said times without number - once the Court below delivers it's Judgement on a National Assembly Election Petition Appeal, the Judgement is final, and this Court has no jurisdiction to hear any appeals related thereto, NO MATTER HOW CLEVERLY FRAMED" .

So the issues and stories of pre-election, election or post Election matter which is the base of criticism by some gullible holds no water and can only send the message of illiteracy on the part of the critic .

Every other matter as regards Anambra Senatorial Election have been resolved and laid to rest by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Since the apex Court of Nigeria upheld the Judgement of Appeal Court ,we now call on INEC to take the Judicial notice of the Judgement of 10th of February 2017 and conduct Election for Ndi Anambra Central.

Our people are being victimized because of lack of representation in the red chamber.
