Michael Jordan on Kobe Bryant (Tuesday Sept. 30 2008)

Bobcats Insider aired a special edition with Bobcats Managing Member of Basketball Operations Michael Jordan on WMYT MyTV 12. Jordan talked openly with Bobcats Television play-by-play announcer Matt Devlin and Television inquirer Alvaro Diaz about his decision to invest in the Bobcats, his role in Charlotte and his vision for the future.

The following is the transcript of the interview with Michael Jordan:

Matt Devlin: Welcome to Bobcats Insider, I'm Matt Devlin. Over the next half hour, I'll go one-on-one with an owner of the Charlotte Bobcats who also happens to be a North Carolina native and a Tar Heel legend by bringing the University of North Carolina the 1982 national title. He dominated the NBA for over a decade, guiding his Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships while capturing six NBA Finals MVP's. He was a five-time NBA MVP, a 14-time All Star and the greatest player who ever played the game, or is He, Michael Jordan is an iconic figure whose drive and determination has led him to the pinnacle of his profession and the entire sports world, so it was surprising nontheless when Jordan was asked who he thought was the best player in the world today, Jordan glared for a minute and awnsered, qoute on quote "i'm still the best" but then an a subdivided voice said "all jokes aside I think Kobe is, Kobe has brought something to the game that I honestly thought would never be possible since I left, Kobe's Stardom has surpass anything that I could have ever dreamed of in my career, I mean he is a true Icon and the best thing that could of ever happen to the game of Basketball in my opinion.",

Other than my nephew who is my fav. player, I also enjoy watching Nick Collison and Jeff Green.

I think the change in the city and the new addtions to the team will do them well and my nephew wont have to work so hard this year to carry the team.

Would you svck Dwyane Wade off

What is your view on it? Any experiences?

Personally I'm against it b/c as a Christian, the Bible doesn't support such thing.

The Catholic Church announced that Evolution fits in with the bible.

Also, Lutherans, Presbyterians, and the United Church of Christ and some non-denomiational churches are all behind Evolution.

I think the only sect of Christians that generally have the biggest problem accepting Evolution are the Evangelical Protestants (especially the dogmatic ones). However, I don't think this will do anything to change their mind since they despise the Catholic Church just as much as everything else in the world

The Decathlon does not qualify as a sport does itMore like a series of events.

The Decathalon fits under the track and field mold. Therefore it qualifies as a sport.

Hmmm. . . .Gymnastics measures agility and strength but it is hardly a test of speed or endurance.

Basketball can be argued yes.

No, you're both wrong. Gymnastics measures much more of balance, coordination, flexibility and leaping ability (all forms of athleticism) than the ones you put there. And gymnastics definately doesn't measure strength. Usually it's the other way around. You have to be light to be very effective.

But I picked the decathalon b/c it takes a rigorous toll on the body (2-day event) while measuring an athletes speed, strength, skill, stamina, endurance, and perseverance. The emphasis of the first day is on speed, explosive power, and jumping ability; the second emphasizes technique and endurance.

How many people here know about Santeria in Cuba? Living in Miami, I see more and more Cubans each day are embracing this Yoruba religion, which consists of mainly sacrificing various animals, but I heard if you want the sacrifice to take effect, you have to have a babalawo perform it.

Some of the terminology in Santeria sounds familiar, like "Oludumare" and "Orisha".

There's also Candomble in Brazil, another Yoruba religon. Here are some vids that embrace the Yoruba religion

One of my best friends was murdered on October 6, 2004. It is a day that I will never forget. A drug addict demanded $500 from him and when he said he did not have it, this person tortured my friend for hours before putting a revolver in his mouth and pulling the trigger.

Fast forward two years.

One night, my girlfriend (now my wife) told me on the phone that she was going to take a nap and she would give me a call when she woke up. This was in 2006, nearly two years after my friend's brutal murder. Anyway, she calls me a few hours later and she tells me that she had a weird dream. I ask her what she means, and she tells me that she is almost positive that she had a dream about my friend who had died. I ask her how that is even possible, because she never met my friend nor saw any pictures of him. I'll repeat that -- she had NEVER met him (he was dead before her and I even met) and she had never seen a picture of him.

So I tell her to get online so I can send her a picture of him. That would determine if the dream was really about him. We stayed on the phone during this time and when the picture went through, I heard her phone drop and she began to cry. After a few moments she picked the phone up, though she was silent. When she spoke again, she said, "That was him, That was seriously him." It seemed like the silence went on for a while and then I asked her what her dream was about.

She told me that he had appeared to her and thanked her. At first she did not know what she was being thanked for. My friend talked to her in the dream and explained that he appreciated everything that we were doing for him. It made sense because the next weekend, we were going to go see his kids (he had two children, a son and a daughter). I am really the only friend that he had who knew the real person he was and I wanted his kids to have someone in their lives who grew up with their dad.

My faith during this time was already strong but this sent me over the edge. I knew for a fact then and still do now that God works in very mysterious ways and He is involved in the lives of His creation. I can't answer all of your theological questions because I simply don't know. I am like any other Christian in that I have had doubts from time to time but those doubts will never be strong enough to push me away from Christ.

I have seen too much in my life and I do not need science to make my mind up for me. I am still, and always will be, a wretched sinner who deserves nothing in this life. I was as big of a skeptic as anyone here at one point but I researched and sought the truth with both my heart and my mind and that search led me to Christ. If people want to bash that, then have at it.

My friend was also a Christian and did not deserve what had happened to him, but I fully believe in my heart that he is in Heaven and I don't need to question God on why things happen as they do. I believe because my mind, heart and life experiences will not let me do otherwise. Bash that all you want; but I would ask anyone here how that dream could have EVER taken place without something else being at play?

I have no reason to lie as this happened just as I described it. Take it as you will.
