Caseless:
most voters looked at his performance this year thereby voting for him. The Egyptians went all out to vote for him because of their worldcup qualifications- something they haven't done in close to 3 decades. Nigerians did not attach that emotion to this award cos we've been going for w/cup...it's not new to us.
It's simple because Nigerians to value there own we put sentiments in everything we do. If Egyptians can vote enmass 4 sallah nothing wrong if we do the same.

Chukazu:
Very faulty and useless decision.

People who do this voting are usually Short sighted and emotional.

The award is supposed to be for last year's performance not this year and to show how useless the outcome is, he is already attributing accolades to his Liverpool teammates (all of his performance for Liverpool only counts for next year's award)instead of AS ROMA teammates of previous season

And if the award is truly based on past season's performance, then he doesn't even deserve the award, Victor Moses far deserves because he won a #TROPHY -THE PREMIER LEAGUE, JUST LIKE MEiHREZ who won premier league with Leicester City .

Of the five players , VICTOR MOSES was the only one who achieved success with both club and country

I hope CAF won't repeat same nonesense!
Expect to see the same during CAF awards because it's all the national team coaches and captains that does the voting. The only one Victor moses would have won wasthe BBC African player of the year which Nigerians refused to allow him to win. With the type of population we have and if will all voted for him and leave sentiments he would have won, the problem with Nigeria is Nigerians and nothing else.

Education / Effective Use Of 'has/have Or Had' by mistalexzy: 1:14pm On Nov 12, 2017
I find it irritating when I see how alleged graduates find it difficult to effectively use has, have, had in sentences. Has, have, had give many people a lot of headache. Proper handling of the words puts the user's knowledge of tenses to test.
Has, have and had can perform the function of a main verb. When they do so, had is simply the past tense of has or have:
He has a book. ( HE still has it.)
He had a book. ( He does not have it again.)
You have two cars. ( You still have them.)
You had two cars. ( You don't have them again.)
Therefore, whenever you want to express the present tense in the above context, freely use has or have. But when you want to use past tense, use had.
Another major difference between them manifest when they are being used as auxiliary verbs in participle form.‎

Jarus:
Some issues here:

1, She graduated in 2015. So the earliest time she completed her NYSC programme is 2016, if mobilized in 2015, or 2017, if mobilized in 2016.

2, What the above means is that she may have become eligible for labour market in 2016 or 2017 which means she may not have spent 1 year at home post-NYSC.

3, Not getting job within one year of completing NYSC is not a critical situation as presented here. Even some recruitment processes take one year.

4; She did not tell us whether she had been invited for job tests before and how she performed. Has any company invited you for test since you graduated? Did you pass? First Class doesn't mean being handed job automatically.

5, I also suspect her school may be a factor. Ajayi Crowther is a Tier 3 private university. Many good employers only reckon with Tier 1 private university graduates. Less than 10 of such schools.. Some of these private unis are not recognised
You also failed to ask her if working at her alma mata was want she wanted initially, she just wanted that has a plan B, you don't go into teaching as a second option you have to have the zeal to impact knowledge.
Secondly you don't know maybe she is in the category of those first class graduates that are only good with theories and her poor when it comes to praticals.
Thirdly, it's rude ti refer to the school as been a third teir school there are some graduates of the sole called first tier schools who are not as sound as the graduates of the so called third teir schools.

First Class Nigerian Graduate
A first class Nigerian graduate has taken to Twitter to openly beg people to help her get a job. Odufuwa Sola, 22, from Ogun State, has remained jobless since she graduated in 2015 from Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State.

“I’m Odufuwa Sola, I’m a First Class Graduate of Physics with Electronics from Ajayi Crowther University,” she tweeted on Tuesday from her handle @MzKansola. “Kindly help me retweet. I need a Job.”

Ms. Sola did not just make a First Class but was the best graduating student in the university for that year with a 4.83 G.P.A. She had the honour of delivering a valedictory speech in the school.

Ms. Sola’s appeal for help has been retweeted more than 3,000 times by other Twitter users.

But that is just the best she has gotten for now as nobody has asked her to come over for a job interview.
Ms. Sola, who said she was amazed at the rate people retweeted her post, told sources she was inspired to resort to Twitter for help having seen other people with similar situation get help through the social media.

Ms. Sola said she has applied for employment at the Ajayi Crowther University, but that she was yet to get a reply from the school.

She has also submitted applications to several companies and organisations within the country.

“Most jobs I apply for are graduate trainee slots that are science-related,” Ms. Sola said, adding that she was not feeling sad at all that she has not been able to get a job.
“I know the situation of the country, though I didn’t expect it to take so long,” she said. “But I trust God.”

Also, she does not regret studying physics. She said she would do it again and again if she were to start her university education all over. “Physics is fun,” she said.

Ms. Sola’s dream is to work someday as a renewable energy analyst, she told sources.
Meanwhile, she has started learning tailoring at Ijebu-ode, Ogun State, where she resides, while waiting and hoping to be called up for a job interview soon.

“My family has been supportive, everyone around me is just wishing me the best and praying I get a job soon,” said Ms. Shola who lost her dad in 2015, few months to her graduation ceremony.

“My appeal to Nigerians is to help me get a job of my dream and passion. I know it’s not easy out there, but with the help of God, I know something good will happen soonest. Nigerians are good people, it’s just the situation we find ourselves in as a country,” she said.

When Sources contacted the spokesperson of the Ajayi Crowther University, Alvan Ewuzie, he said that giving first class graduates instant employment in the university depended on the availability of space in the department where the student graduated from.

am not sure she actually applied for a job in the school. I am an alumni of the school and I can say categorically that Ajayi Crowther University gives preference to there students who seeks employment in the school. The best graduating student in my set works in his department he even did his NYSC there.

Education / How To Beatify Your Writing Using The Right Synonyms by mistalexzy: 8:44am On Jun 01, 2017
Synonyms are words with similar or same meanings, which can be used interchangeably. For example, instead of saying I have to go now, I can say I have to leave now. So go and leave are synonyms. But a definition such as the above can be problematic. They argue that there are no two words that mean the same thing in a context. This is what happens in case of words like go, leave and proceed. While we can say I am eager to go on holiday, it will be wrong to say am eager leave on holiday. This is why some scholars prefer a definition like ' a synonym is a word or phrase with similar meaning with another word, which can also be used in place of it'. It should be noted that a phrase can also be a synonym for another word. Whatever the case, the words generally have similar meanings but each usually has areas where it fits best. Generally, synonyms helps us in so many ways:
1. Using the most appropriate words
A lot of people both young and old get into trouble when speaking or writing because of wrong use of words that doesn't fit a particular contexts. A knowledgeable person is the one who uses the best word at the right time. You have to consider appropriateness in terms words that suit prevailing situation, emotion, place, calibre of people present e.t.c. Some words are more general than others, while some are more precise.
For example, kill and murder are synonymous that you may want to freely interchange them. But, technically speaking, it's the law court or police that can determine whether a killing is a murder or manslaughter. Also, children, kids, minors, fruit of the wombs, babies, offspring are synonyms yet they can replace each other at all times:
My friend has four children.
My friend has four kids.
My friend has four minors.
My friend has four offspring.
Which of the four description will your friend prefer? Am sure she will prefer the first one.

2. Dealing with repetition
A good knowledge of synonyms will help you deal with repetition. A lot of people bore ther listeners or readers by unnecessary repetition within a sentence, passage or paragraph. It's a sign of immaturity that synonyms can help you overcome.
Popular actress, Moji Olaiya, has died. She died penultimate tuesday after a protracted illness. The death has saddened many of her fans. Some of them described the death as a big loss.
Popular actress Moji Olaiya, has died. She passed away penultimate tuesday after a protracted illness. Her death has saddened many of her fans. Some of them described the passage as a big loss.
The second paragraph surely sounds better. It shows a mastery of the language unlike what you have in the first where died and death are repeated.
3. Simplicity
The simpler, the better... when dealing with synonyms, note that some are more simple than the others. And once they (the simpler) satisfy the principle of appropriateness, go for them.
She was attacked by the irate youths.
She was attacked by the angry youths.
The physician attended to the man.
The doctor attended to the man.
There was a conflagration at the mall yesterday.
There was a fire outbreak at the mall yesterday.
In each pair, the second expression is preferred because of the simplicity of the synonyms used.

The university management will not tolerate students protest, but will want government to tolerate there's . Am sure if some unilag lecturers where sacked because they embark on strike ASSU would have been shouting like babies that is been denied breast milk.
