Abubakar Tafwa Balewa University Bauchi Management postponed exams due to fire outbreak Due to the fire outbreak that occurred yesterday (Monday) in the night at one of the female hostels in the Yelwa Campus of the university, the University Mgt deems it necessary to postponed the exams in an effrot to symphatize with the students that were affected. The exams that were postponed are that of today (Tuesday, 26th) and tomorrow (Wednesday, 27th) to saturday, Feb. 13th and Monday, Feb. 15th respectively. There is a fire outbreak currently going on now at one of the female hostels (the New Hostel AKA Bethel female hostel) in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU Bauchi. The fire has been on for more than 20minutes before the fire fighters from the near by Fed. Poly Bauchi and from the state government came to quench the fire, as that of the school, some sources said, there was no water in it (since its purchase to date). Details later ***modified*** The fire had been quenched now, but a lot of damages had been made and several other properties missing due to theft. There are indications that the University Mgt might postpone tomorrow's exams as the students have currently started their second semester exams for the 2014/15 academic session. Lalasticlala

Bekwarra: What is this Id!ot saying ![]() Is John a muslim name ![]() How many times were christians caught with explosives trying to bomb their own church ![]() How many times were christians seen attacking communities and raiding banks of which the communities know that they aren't muslims (to the extent that they have the 'cross' on their necks, not only that, but the christians in that same communities admitted that the attackers were not muslims!) If you don't study ISLAM please don't use your dirty mouth to speak about ISLAM talk more of condeming it! The fact that some people claiming to be muslims are performing in human and un-ISLAMIC acts does not mean that that is what ISLAM teaches! Everybody knws that ISLAM is a religion of PEACE but just won't admit because of ur sentiments if not, by now there could have been no even a single christian in northern Nigeria! But the case is the other way round because of ISLAM (the religion of peace!), If you like you can ask any christian that has been to the north to tell you who the real muslims are and what the real teachings of ISLAM are......mttsssscchhhhhhhhwwww! Nonsense! [b] I AM A MUSLIM AND AM NOT A TERRORIST [\b] |

Nigerian Bar Association Begins Probe of Saraki’s Lawyers for Walking-Out at CCT Credible sources have confirmed that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is set to begin probe into the circumstances surrounding thee walk out by lawyers representing Senate President Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, on Thursday. Proceedings in the trial ended abruptly after 26 lawyers representing Saraki stormed out of the tribunal citing the tribunal’s refusal of their application to suspend the trial. NBA General Secretary, Mr Afam Osigwe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the association is interested in ascertaining what transpired at the tribunal. He said: “We got different accounts in the media and would need the correct details to allow the NBA to react from an informed position. “From the accounts we got through the media some said the lawyers walked out while others said they withdrew. “So, due to the inconsistent choice of words, we cannot speak on the matter until we get the full and accurate details.” The lawyers, Mahmud Magaji (SAN) and Ahmed Raji (SAN), had withdrawn their services as lawyers for Saraki at his trial on allegation of false asset declaration before the tribunal. They staged a walk out with junior lawyers who were with them before the tribunal concluded the case. The lawyers openly announced their withdrawal following their perceived dissatisfaction with the ruling of the tribunal on their application for stay of proceedings. They said that they were displeased with the tribunal’s decision refusing the application to stay proceeding in the trial pending the determination of an appeal they filed before the Supreme Court. Specifically, Magaji had said: “This is a judicial rascality and I cannot be part of this process. I therefore withdraw my representation as the respondent’s counsel.” But many lawyers in Abuja are displeased with the walk out, describing it as a “disgrace to the bar”. http://www.musbizubeat.com/2015/11/nigerian-bar-association-begins-probe-of-sarakis-lawyers-for-walking-out-at-cct/ Cc: lalasticlala |

Recently, during the 81st meeting of the university governing council, one of their resolutions (which was No. 5) was that students charges will be increased to: (A) 2015/2016 intake:- N44,250 (B) Returning: - N39,520 Which indicates more that 100% increment on the current registration fees of N22,500 for new intake and N14,500 for returning students. But the SUG kicked against it and even wrote a letter to the VC of the university copying PMB, speaker Reps, North-Eastern senators, Bauchi State gov and Perm. Sec Fed Min of Education among many others. Below is the full content of the letter: The Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Through The Dean, Students Affairs Division Sir, RESOLUTION OF STUDENTS UNION GOVERNMENT ON THE INCREMENT IN STUDENTS SERVICE CHARGES/REGISTRATION FEES With reference to the major decisions from 81st meeting of university governing councils on resolution No. 5 that students charges will be as follows: (A) 2015/2016 intake:- N44,250 (B) Returning: - N39,520 Which indicates more that 100% increment on the current registration fees of N22,500 for new intake and N14,500 for returning students. The Students Union Government hereby categorically rebukes, reject and resist any increment and could inexorably battle the increment which has the inclination to depopulate the university. The Students Union Government is justifiably opposing increment in students service charges for the following reasons: 1. There are no concrete achievements to display after the increasing students service charges in 2012/2013 academic session. The learning environment is still inadequate, access to modern facilities such as libraries, science laboratories, research and resource centers, computer laps, power supply, water supply, clinics, cafeteria, infrastructure and logistics are lacking. The students paid for the sport and sport facilities where not provided, which leads to our inability to attend NUGA and other sport competition. And even the internet service that was categorically stated as one of the major reasons for the 2012/2013 increment, students do not have access to it, only staffs are enjoying at the expenses of the students. 2. Vast majority of students studying in ATBU are jobless and self-supported, while the cost of living remains very high couple with hyper-inflation, underpayment of civil servants with the minimum wages of N18,000.00 which is only less than half of new students charges, low household income and acute poverty due to Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east that has high level of illiteracy, high level of school drop-out and one of the poorest zone in the country that constitute about 80% of the students in ATBU. 3. Education is not a privilege, but a fundamental right according to Article 26 0f the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Chapter II, sub-section 18 of the Nigerian Constitution. 4. ATBU, Bauchi was never established for profiteering or profit maximization. To our knowledge ATBU, Bauchi is not a revenue generating entity, but a public institution solely established to contribute to national development by providing quality tertiary education in technology which was named after the illustrious son of Nigeria, the then prime minister, Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. We hereby implore the ATBU management not to forget the institutions’ past and the long way it has been traveling. For indeed, the greatness of ATBU is neither in it is architectural ingenuity nor in the exquisite magnificence of it is major edifices, but lies rather in the longtime tradition and ideology which the institution has continued to hold onto in the past 35 years of it is existence. Due to it is affordability, the institutions has been able to turn the lives of many families around by making advanced education accessible to brilliant children from poor homes. Many of them are now their families’ bread winners due to ATBU’s students’ charges that come with human face. This is the greatness of ATBU that people keep talking about. Finally, the fact that this vicious increment will deny poor people access to education which also has the tendency of disfranchising the populace from acquiring knowledge, increasing the rate of violence/societal vices in the society and disrupting academic exercise in the university of brilliant poor students. We call on the university management to reverse the increment for the wellbeing of our peaceful university. We hope our request will be given due consideration and the increment will be reverse with immediate effect. CC: The President, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Speaker, Federal House of Representative. The Executive Governor Bauchi State. The Chairman Governing Councils ATBU, Bauchi. The Senators Representing North-East. The Director State Security Service. The Commissioner of Police Bauchi State. The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education. The Permanent Secretary Bauchi State Ministry of Education. That is just the way ISLAM (the religion of peace) says should treat our wives. Whoever u see treating his wife the other way round is not practising the true teachings of ISLAM and as such should not be considered as what ISLAM says regarding the treating of one's wive.
