Politics / Appeal Court Dismisses Pdp’s Case Against Tinubu, Shettima - Channels TV by Money2000: 6:58pm On Mar 25, 2023
The Court of Appeal Abuja has dismissed a case by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking the disqualification of Bola Tinubu and Kassim Shettima as the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25 election.

The PDP had urged the appellate court to reverse the January 13 judgment by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja which dismissed its suit on the grounds that the PDP lacked locus standi to have instituted the suit.
In the unanimous judgment , a three-member panel of the Court of Appeal, led by Justice James Abundaga, held that the PDP failed to establish its locus standi.
Justice Abundaga agreed with the submissions of lawyers to the respondents, including Thomas Ojo of Lateef Fagbemi and Co, described the PDP as a busy body, who dabbled into issues that are internal affairs of the APC.
Respondents in the appeal are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC, Tinubu and Shettima.

Justice Abundaga held that the trial court was right to have held that the PDP failed to establish its locus standi.
“The appellant, having failed disclose its locus standi, this appeal fails and it is hereby dismissed,” he said and proceeded to affirm the judgment of the Federal High Court.
Justice Abundaga awarded N5million cost against the appellant’s lawyer, J. O. Olotu.
The PDP had, in the suit filed on July 28, 2022, challenged the validity of the Tinubu/Shettima ticket for the 2023 presidential election, arguing that Shettima’s nomination as the running mate was in breach of the provisions of Sections 29(1), 33, 35 and 84{1)}(2)} of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended).

Claiming that Shettima had double nominations, the PDP argued that Shettima’s nomination as a vice-presidential candidate as well as the candidate for the Borno Central Senatorial seat contravened the law.
The PDP, which sought an order disqualifying the APC, Tinubu and Shettima from contesting the presidential election scheduled for February 25 equally po rayed the court for an order nullifying their candidacy.
It further prayed the court for an order compelling INEC to remove their names from its list of nominated or sponsored candidates eligible to contest the election.
The defendants, in their preliminary objection urged the court to dismiss the suit for want of jurisdiction.

They contended that the plaintiff lacked the locus standi to institute the case, which invariably challenged APC’s decision and its nomination of candidates for the election, which were within the confines of the party’s internal affairs and thus, non-justiciable.

Form A Update
Form A is an application form designed by the Central Bank of Nigeria to pay for service transactions (invisible trade). Form A is electronically done and does not require your presence.

It can be accessed via

https://www.tradesystem.gov.ng/

Form A is the cheapest means of payment for international students.
Form A is not really easy and it is always advisable that applicants start on time as it may take about 15 working days or more and the processing time depends on the bank. Some banks may take about 30 days or more depending on the already existing queue.

NB: Form A is not only for new students. Returning students abroad can use it.

FORM A SERVICES

The prevalent services it’s utilised for are:

- School fees

- Medical bills

- Training Courses

- Mortgage and others

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR FORM A

1. Offer letter
2. Degree Certificate
3. Invoice from School
4. School bank details
5. Letter of Authorization to withdraw (may be typed or hand-written containing your signature)
6. Passport Bio page
7. Student's ID card (returning students)
8. Residential Address (returning Students - not quite necessary)

9. BVN
10. Your Gmail must be linked to your BVN

N/B: If you fail to provide any of the above documents, you will be rejected. Again, CBN charges N5,000 per form A transaction.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE

- Visit https://www.tradesystem.gov.ng

- Click on the Form A floating button

- Click on Sign Up

- Input your BVN ( your Gmail will pop up in a cryptic format)

- Log in to your mail and copy the code sent to your mail and input in the text area at tradesystem.gov.ng portal.

- Select your password

- It's advisable to use Chrome in order to save your password for future access

- Click on Form A and follow screen prompt

- Remember to select YES on " available for Forex.

- Make sure you provide input correct information from the school and provide a genuine information.

- Make sure you monitor your progress to know if there's a request from the processing bank.

Stages Involved in Form A

1. Adb_Reviewer: This is a bank officer who assesses your submitted informations and if deemed correct, will recommend for Approval.

2. Adb_Supervisor: This is also a bank officer who Approves the recommended information by the adb_reviewer.

3. Adb_disbursment_reviewer: This is also a bank head office officer who assesses the required recipient's details and the amount required to process your application. If he finds everything satisfactory, then debit is processed.

4. Adb_disbursment_Supervisor : This is the final stage. The bank officer do verify and confirm the debit and term your application successful.

NB: Some banks may leave your application on ADB_DISBURSEMENT_REVIEWER level even after transaction is completed. It's not a problem at all. All you should bother about is your TELEX copy which serves as an Prove of payment.

Again, Form A can be processed from every part of the country but you must be a Nigerian.

Down Points

Form A is not the only source of payment. There's black market whose rate is not friendly but is faster.
Form A is a secured means but it might take time depending on the processing bank.
Again, there are some charges outside CBN and Tuition fees, it's advisable to have extra N15,000 because it was my experience.

Note: Starting your Form A journey on time is an advantage.
For tuition fee around £4,000, you can save upto N900k using Form A.

Updating........

Thanks for the info… However, can I use form A to make further school fees payment (aside tuition deposit) ?

Hello

It depends on your school tuition, what has been paid as deposit and the balance plus the stipulated maintenance funds which is calculated based on location ( within or outside London). When you do the maths use the Oanda exchange and give room for fluctuation (link below)

Best bet to look at the first page of the thread

https://www.oanda.com/currency-converter/en/?from=GBP&to=NGN&amount=1

Cheers

Thank you very much. Total School fees is 16k while deposit is 2k
