hmm... it's a lot more complicated than that but let me explain it like this. Black people didn't cause racism, even from history. We never asked anyone to call us monkeys or associate black skin with negative things. Don't think of it as something we can cause, it's more like something that was (and is still) done to us. If you take time to read news from around the world, especially pertaining children, you will see that in most cases it's not about how law abiding (or not) the person is, it's about a system that has been designed to treat black people a certain way, even from a young age. Romance fraud is very common in russia and other countries, even some of the so called "nigerian princes" are not even black, but why is it always a bigger deal when it's a black person caught in a crime. Look at how netflix portrayed the tinder swindler and anna delvey, do you think the narrative would have been the same if they were black? It's called partial removal of fuel subsidy. When the cost of subsidy rises due to rising cost of producing one liter of fuel (due to reasons like rise in crude oil prices)...the government reduces spending on subsidy, which results in rise in prices at the pump. But the subsidy is still there , otherwise by 2012, we would have been paying N150 for one liter of fuel, or more.



Simple. Subsidy for Nigeria meant that we sold fuel below the cost of production, meaning that there was not enough profit for the refineries to function well. (We were doing things like skimping on maintenance costs, and underpaying refineries for cost of some items and chemicals needed for refining back in the day, just to keep the difference between production cost and refining cost for us to have money to pay for subsides)

Once the refineries went bust, we then had to resort to refining fuel abroad in bad refineires to keep the difference between production cost and government pump price low, so as to keep subsidy costs low.

Right now, we refine fuel and bring it in from abroad at a cost of N282, and sell it at N163 OFFICIALLY...and the difference is suppsoed to be covered by the subsidy, and the landing cost of N282 is still rising (it was N232 in June last year).

Refine at home, and the cost of refining it is not going to be below N200 . (In Niger republic, they sell fuel for N350, meaning their production cost is between N250-300 or thereabouts.)

We can refine...but it has to be at a profit. Nigerians don't want that because it means price increases for food, and even other things like photocopying stuff.





Electricity has the same problem. The laws governing the privatisation left pricing in the hands of government, meaning that government keeps prices low to make the poor happy, and below the cost of production (right now, according to a PWC report, we should be paying between N80-100 for one kwh, yet we pay N40-71, and even then, 40% of customers do not pay a naira or a kobo)

Unsurprisingly, the power sector runs at a loss as a result, and cannot pay for much needed improvements to power supply.


GSM, meanwhile, when it came to Nigeria, was allowed to operate at a profit, meaning we paid high for bad service before 2006. But because they were allowed to earn a profit, they had the money to build the much needed infrastructire and thus guarantee improved service...and even attract financing for such improvments. The power sector, which is always running at a loss, and cannot increase prices unless government says so, and government keeps prices low, cannot do the same.

Run at a loss, service becomes crap.

This was my name during reg online Ezeh Ebele Faith, but that's not the way I arrange my name, instead it's Ezeh Faith Ebele, so after I submitted my registration successfully, I applied for name reaarrangement, which wasn't approved immediately. I also registered as married. So after registration my name was still showing Ezeh Ebele Faith. So hours later my name was changed to hubby's surname, as Okeke Ebele faith. As of that time the name reaarrangement wasn't approved yet. So after 5days it was approved, instead of seeing Okeke faith Ebele as my new name, I was seeing Ezeh Faith Ebele which( Ezeh) is my maidens name. I thought since dey have reaarranged my name and also being that NYSC has already given my husband surname. No need seeing my maidens name again. I am asking whether it will be changed back. Note my Marital status is still saying married and my title mrs.
