What platform would that be? Most recruiters, in my experience, encourage you to prepare tailored resumes for different roles even in the same organization. If you have to, I'd say tailor the resume for the role you do really want/feel you have a better chance at and cross your fingers. bamangar: Hello, I need help. I'm applying for two job positions in two different companies with different roles. I am meant to only submit one Resume on that platform permanently which they will be using for any of my job application. I have experience in both roles too. My problem now, will it be proper to merge my work experience together or should I split it - (1) job role 1 (2) job role 2.
I don't want my Resume to look tattered. I want both employers to be able to understand. The end goal is to get at least one of the jobs. How do you suggest I handle my resume to fit in my experience in both job roles? 3 Likes |

No impact in my opinion. It may just cost you more because you will pay annual dues for the original province and also the one you decide to eventually transfer to. The annual dues is split btw the national CPA body and the provincial so when you want to transfer, you must be in good standing with the original provincial body (paid) and the province you are transferring to will collect their own too. I may be wrong tho Newbeecey: Hi, I just wanted to know what impact there is of doing the CPA conversion with a particular province especially from Nigeria and then immigrate to a different province upon landing? |

Vcole I advise you to use cpa Ontario. Cpa BC is the slowest corporate body I've ever encountered. They respond to emails after 2-4 weeks. Considering that there will be several correspondences, their response time could add 3-4 months to the process time. I think it's the whole CPA jare. Ontario too has changed. Now it takes over 1 month to even acknowledge your email. Submitted last document required January 3rd, it wasn't acknowledged until February 6th. Since then, silence. They actually said the process takes at least 12 weeks now due to increased workload. I'm just hoping they free me this month. This whole waka is a test of patience. |

Please i have a few questiions:
1. Will you be able to do the conversion if you have not completed your PER (that is just an ACCA affiliate)
2. Can i use my masters degree transcript along with ACCA certification for the conversion
You need to attain full membership status in ACCA first for the conversion. While ur MSc will suffice for IRCC, you will need BSc transcript for CPA. The CPA conversion takes time so I'd advise you start processing even while awaiting PPR if possible. |

EmmyToluwa: LONG POST ALERT!!!
Hello all!!! I have been a silent follower of this thread though I have posted a few times in the past. I just felt it is important I share my landing experience so far so that people can learn from our experience. my time line follows:
1. Bought tickets October 3rd (please note not a mistake, na faith and good deal)
2. Got PPR November 8th 2017 (after 8 months of wait)
3. COPR and passport returned November 27th (I had sent out our passport November 13th).
4. Landed in Toronto 17th February with my wife and son via Ethiopian Airlines, and received by my friend who took us to his place in London (we are still in his house at the moment), Ontario. The landing procedure was a bit slow as we landed on a Saturday and the customs officials were not so fast. Because of this we couldn't get our SIN and our PR card was not processed also as we couldn't remember the friend's postal code. The customs officer we met was a nice woman, she even gave us her phone to call my friend who had been waiting outside. They didn't check our bags and she asked us to sign Goods to follow forms as I was sending food over from Naija. To cut long story short, we reached London, ON around 2:16pm as it is a 2hr drive from Toronto.
5. On Sunday 17th February, we followed my friend to his church, a white dominated church, and after the service we were introduced as first-timers, this was where our miracle began. The woman (my angel actually) that attended to us, also an immigrant (from El Salvador) happened to be an HR manager at one of the Top 5 banks in Canada and while we were talking about our induction process in church got to know that we just arrived in Canada the day before asked about our employment status and I told her we will start to look for jobs once we are settled. Well na so she told me her bank would be having a career fair for job seekers and she will want to me to attend. I was like wetin I dey do wey I no go fit go?? I don reach there self!!!
6. Monday 19th was a public holiday (Family day, please note no be only naija we like holiday o....dem get holiday pass us for here sef).
7. Tuesday, 20th February, my friend drove us to Service Canada. We got our SIN and the woman we spoke with gave us the procedure to submit address for PR card. We went from there to Scotia bank to open account and got $3000 in credit card immediately to start credit history.
8. Wednesday 21st, we went to get phones. This we did under my friend's plan as those ppl didn't want to give phone to a newcomer on plan. Well I didn't mind, I sha got iPhone 8 to pay over 24months.
9. Thursday 22nd February, I was home all through applying and reading for my CPA conversion. I had aready started this from Naija. We also got a a very good laptop at a crazy price from Kijiji, for here kijiji and Facebook market place are your friends. I know there are other good ones too! We did not really look for house as my friend said he will introduce us to a friend who is an expert at settling new comers, including house and other things.
10. Friday 23rd, I attended the TD bank Career fair and it was fun, I told my interviewer I willing to start with them but they have to know that I am more qualified than the entry level job they are recruiting for. The woman said she understands, but that if selected, I have to be patient with them because they have a 1-yr period of assessing new intakes before determining if you can move up the ladder. Come and see me as I dey speak phone wey I no say na lie. I come dey dictate when I neva even do test let alone interview. The woman said they will get back if they feel say my skills and experience allign with their available roles.
11. Saturday/Sunday, we were home applying for jobs and adjusting CV. Oh I missed out the part where the my angel said I should send her my CV so that she can fine tune it to the way TD bank likes candidate's CVs to be like. So this was the CV i took to the CF on Friday.
12. Monday, 26th I received an email that I should complete an online assessment which I did like 36 hrs later as I was visiting friends and still dropping CVs to companies and also visited Access Center for bridging programs (another story).
13. Wedneday 28th Febraury, I received a call fro TD bank HR inviting me for an interview on Friday. I called my angel immediately and she immediately sent me their interview format to use, She said I should practice many times infront of a mirror. Well I did.
14. Thursday, we went to check our first house and the agent/lanlord were very willing to give us the apartment because of the friend of my friend. The only issue was that we have to wait one month for the current tenant to vacate and for repair works to be done. For my mind, I was wondering what was there to repair, everything looks good!!!
15. Yesterday, March 2nd, I was at TD bank with 6 other candidates, infact na then I know say naija peeps dey waka. of the 7, 3 of us were Nigerians. The interview was in 4 stages, role play, group assignment, assessment and a one-one interview. At the end, I was drained but yet fulfilled in a way I couldn't explain. The HR lady told us to expect feed backs and possible appointments by next week.
16. This afternoon, my friend and I went to drop another friend who was travelling to the US and on our way back I was telling him our my confidence has dropped since the interview and I was feeling they might be calling to tell me no. See Satan!!!
As we got back home, my phone rang and it was the HR recruiter with her nice voice. She asked me what I tot about the interviews and I how tot I performed. My heart wan cut, i tot this is it, maybe they have rejected me. I told her I learnt alot and also that I am confident my skills and experience are well aligned with the role. And then I heard, WELL I AM HAPPY TO INFORM YOU THAT WE ARE OFFERING YOU A CONDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT!! I shouted!!! The thing just be like say I dey dream. I was like I neva even get house, I don get job. All the things the woman dey talk I no even hear, I was just too happy.
So my peeps, na so our tory be so far so. Na so God show say Na HIM be the REAL GOD oooo. Much as this is an entry level job, I am happy I can quickly have my CV updated with a Canadian Experience.
I pray we all have good stories to tell in this Canadian dream!!! Bro. i see you 9 Likes 2 Shares |

JESUSisable: Hi Muchaio,
I also got the request to pay with certified cheque but I wish to pay with my dollar card. I have registered already with my Nigerian address. Can I edit my profile by removing my Nigerian address and adding my cousin's canadian address? Do I also have to fill in her Canadian phone number instead of my Nigerian cell number under contact information? I hope using the Canadian address will not pose a problem for me later on?
Did you use your Canadian address for both contact address and billing address?
How much were you charged in dollars with the inclusion of GST & HST?
Kindly advise. Thanks
Hi, Yes you can edit your details. I did that too. I have since sent the statement of completion to CPAO and it has been acknowledged so I don't think it's a problem. I used my friend's address and phone number for the application. I hope your contact person is in Ontario. The HST amounts to 13% I think. So just factor in an additional 13% on the 495cad. |

This goes to landed seniors in the house. I've observed that most GTA bound people seem to be landing in Peel and Halton regions (Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, etc). I hardly see people landing in York (maybe some North York once in a while) but haven't seen any Durham (Ajax, Oshawa axis). Rent seems to be a little cheaper on that side too. freeradical: I'm back people with yet another of my recent experience with career advancement in Canada. So you guys remember me telling you all how I got two jobs and was spoilt for choice over which to pick. Well to refresh those that may have forgotten I chose the big firm (even though the position was temporary and entry level hourly operator while the other was permanent ,full time but for a smaller firm) because I believed it had better prospects for career growth.
Well I took my humble pie and resumed for the hourly operator job on 2nd January and we were all placed on a 3day orientation and training program. It went on like that up until Thurs when something dramatic happened. After we have been dispersed to head to our various departments, as I was waiting in the lobby with my other colleagues for our department rep, I was approached by the operations manager who asked if I could spare him 5mins of my time. I obliged and he took me to a meeting room and we were immediately joined by another manager. I sensed I was going to be interviewed again, so I quickly psyched myself. The operations manager started by telling me he needed a new group manager in his department as one of his guys just got promoted and moved to another location and he feels I can fill that position. The next 30-45mins was a grilling but yet refreshing interview where I was mainly asked competency based questions that required I relate my answers very well to my past experiences (which all came from Nigeria).
Afterwards I left the interview feeling like what just happened and went back to join the rest of my hourly operator crew only for the heads upstairs to send for me again after like 30mins. When I came up this time, the operations manager was there to receive me and then he told me there is someone he will like me to meet. This time it was the overall Plant manager who is the top boss in the Edmonton plant. I almost froze to the floor but then as omo naija my head quickly correct . After a firm handshake with the Plant manager I was taken to a larger conference room just me and him. Then he started interviewing me again. As usual I kept relating my answers to past work experiences from Nigeria. In the end he thanked me and encouraged me to keep developing myself especially in the new job I was being offered as they strictly apply meritocracy in career advancement in d organization.
I closed from work that still perplexed at how fast my fortunes are about to change. I got home and was still narrating the whole ordeal to my wife when I got a call from the operations manager that I have got the job and if I'm willing to accept the offer. I answered in the affirmative. Then he asked me to come into the plant the next day(we were billed to attend a safety training off-site as the hourly operators) as I need to sign a new offer letter and start immediately on the new management position I was offered.
So people that was how I started the year/week as a floor staff but ended the week as a first-line manager. The purpose of my sharing this story is not to in any way pride in my efforts because I owe everything I am to God but to encourage someone/anyone who can dare to believe in the impossible. Yes miracles still do happen. It's not by he that runneth but on the Lord that showeth mercy. Be courageous my fellow naija Canadians. Go out there and claim what's yours!
Peace. Congratulations. 8 Likes |

Ojasope1: Elders pls help my colleague put mouth for this.
Good day E-family
I want to ask some questions for a colleague who is worried about his past condition. When we did the calculation together, his CRS is 454 together with his spouse The question is PCC related, his predicament goes thus: He applied for a South African Visit Visa in 2005-2006 with his real name, his application was rejected, the first application was with his real age, He then did another passport with an increased age with different name(though were his other name and his mother maiden name as surname) and got the visa. When he went to SA, he was convicted for fraud spent 6months in prison and deported home, When he came back 2007 he turned new leaf, went to school, took up a legit job after graduation and worked till date He doesn't have possession of the old passports with either name Meanwhile his finger print were taken in SA when he went to prison. 1. Would he need to get PCC from SA considering its a different name ?
2. Should he be silent about it during the application for the EE?
3 is there any stage during the EE application that he needs to send his finger print to CIC?
4. If he decide to be silent about it, would CIC know he ever live in South Africa?
Gurus, I told him all these questions are beyond my knowledge, I also a newbie just learning the rope but promised to help him ask and research, pls your contributions is needed
Thanks in anticipation. Convicts are not eligible for Canadian immigration. I believe once he declares it on his profile, he will be deemed ineligible. If he doesn't declare and he's caught, he will be rejected, banned for misrepresentation and lose his application fees. If perchance he scales through and gets PR and lands, at any point in his life if he has to do biometrics and his criminal past is flagged, he will be deported for misrepresentation I believe. It's a bad case. Crime really does not pay. 5 Likes |

rainazoe: Hi Muchaio, is it true that the tax and law course is easy peasy. I have been stalling on taking it. Seems you got the better end of CPA and CPA BC has been incommunicado for weeks now.
Easy peasy is an understatement. It's like mashed akamu soaked in milk. 5 OBJ quizzes, 10 questions each. Time allowed is 2hrs, online exam without supervision. Best of all if you don't make the 70% pass mark, just start again. There are also hints when you are looking at ur scores so while they won't tell you what the answer is, the hints point you in the direction of the answer. It took me all of 2 days to finish and that was because the Statement of completion didn't show on my tab and phone, so I kept redoing, wondering what was missing. Eventually logged on using a desktop and the thing was looking at me like 'lukatiu' 3 Likes |

Congrats man. You are almost there. Whats your background in terms of experience? Have you explored getting a job before landing? Did you have to submit notarized copies of birth certificate and passport at any time? What is PUM? Pick Up Mail. Just got COPR and passports back. Next stage is landing I guess. I applied to CPA Ontario and not BC. All I sent were international passport and copies of my certificates. Then had my university send my transcript and of course ACCA sent LOGS. My case was a bit peculiar as my middlename was shortened on my educational certificates but full on my international passport so I first wrote them to confirm if it was ok b4 I started spending money lol. So I sent them the certificates and international passport. They responded by sending me the application forms to fill and get ACCA and CIA to send LOGS and Bachelors transcript. I'm an internal auditor. I have not really pursued getting a job b4 landing but will start on it soon. London made me relax with all their delays b4. That's a much better option. I tried to explore that but they insisted I pay via cheque from my country. Took about 3 weeks to get the cheque and it's been enroute for an additional 4 weeks.
Mailed them today and they informed me they had a cheque which they could not tie to an applicant. Thankfully I scanned mine and sent them a copy. Unfortunately it's not mine. Yet I wonder whose cheque is with them.
So if anyone here sent a cheque of 495 CAD to CPA BC for law and tax course without inserting the details, contact them (with details of your cheque- number and date) because they have an outstanding cheque without sender.
Muchaio how far with your process? Have you sent all your required documentation? When are you going to be inducted? I suspended everything till I got PUM jare. Only the Tax & Law course was outstanding as at October. Just did it and sent to them yesterday. Got automated response that they were swamped and may not respond until mid January. Planning to land in April when winter must have packed it's load and gone so I wasn't in a rush. Hope I get inducted by April ending or May if possible. |

So far I only have the tax course outstanding which I have decided to chill on since I don't intend to land till 2nd Qtr 2018. Most Banks (99%) will not give based on one way ticket. Return ticket is often cheaper than one way I the long run. You can always change the return leg and keep it open for a year. You never can know when you might need it to attend owanbe
This is usually due to ignorance at the branch level. Get them to seek clarification from their Head Office. Nigerians with dual citizenship or legal residency of other countries are entitled to PTA on one way tickets as long as you are going to that country. 4 Likes |

Hello Gurus in the House,
Please I am rounding up my docs to submit next week God willing. Biko I need small clarifications.
1. Part of my POF is a TBill I booked in January from contributions with colleagues. 4 people transfered 250k each (this is less than my monthly inflow) within a week and I booked TBill of N1.5m.
2. Also a friend transfered N300k to me in March for a payment. Money went out same day. Do I need to write LOE for these as they are more than 3 months old?
3. Another part of POF is a TBill in Le Boo's name, booked since January 2017. Do I still need to get her account statement since this has been running for long and it's not new like dat like dat.
Thanks in advance. |
