Chris Brown may have brought a third woman into the mix, if you believe a new report in Life & Style magazine. The mag claims Chris cheated on both Rihanna and Karrueche Tran by sleeping with Sommer Gargan, a 24-year-old executive assistant.

The widespread speculation on blogs and social media network, Twitter, pointing to a secret marriage between beautiful MAVIN artiste, Tiwa Savage and longtime manager Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun has again being denied.

The Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF) has started the electronic loading of trucks in the petroleum downstream sector.

Goddy Nnadi, the General Manager, Corporate Services PEF, said the scheme – ‘Project Aquila’ – was designed to ensure the effective loading and delivery of petroleum products across the nation. He added that it also allowed for the electronic payment of claims to the marketers which was hitherto done manually.

He said that following the December 2012 deadline set by the board for all marketers to key into the scheme, it had stopped the processing of claims manually.

“It will now be very difficult for any marketer to get paid for the bridging claim if not registered with Project Aquila,” he said.

He said that PEF would continue to process the backlog of manual claims for last year and that they would be cleared by March. He said that so far, over 22,000 trucks had been tagged across the major depots, adding that the board would continue with the tagging process, especially for marketers with new trucks.

R&B singer turned Pop act Iyanya Mbuk is allegedly wanted by the Nigerian Police in Port Harcourt, Rivers State after allegedly ’defrauding’ popular show organizer Opa Williams of N1.7m being payment for the singer’s performance at two events.

According to sources Iyanya was paid the said amount to perform at two ‘Nite of a Thousand Laughs‘ events which held in Benin and Port Harcourt. The ‘Kukere‘ singer missed both shows.

The latter which was held last night on New Year’s Day featured a performance from rapper Olamide and was hosted by Bovi. Guests had waited for the singer to step on stage and thrill as the highly publicized show had promised a performance from him. Iyanya never showed up.

Interestingly, Iyanya is believed to have traveled on the same flight (allegedly paid for by the show organizers) with Olamide and Bovi.

Sources told NX the singer shunned Opa Williams’ event, performing instead, at another show in Omuma local government area, also in Port Harcourt which also featured Timaya.

‘We were all disappointed, we waited in vain. As soon as Bovi announced he was not going to show up, everybody started leaving‘, a guest who attended the event held at the open ground of the Hotel Preseidential, PH said.

Just this morning, sources say Policemen from the Nigerian Police at the Mile 3 division invited Iyanya and his manger Ubi-Franklin Ekapong to the Police station over the matter which was reported by the show organizers led by Opa Williams.

Nollywood actress and producer, Funke Akindele, has signed a multi-million naira endorsement deal with Nigeria’s top job search website, Jobberman.

The 36-year-old penned the one-year contract as 2012 came to a close and will appear in TV commercial, record radio jingles and attend Jobberman events, as part of the deal.

A fire on New Year’s day destroyed five houses near the Ikoku spare parts market in Port Harcourt. According to an eye witness, the fire started about 10 in the morning yesterday at the dump site of the market in Gambia Street, Port Harcourt.

The cause of fire is still unknown, but the witness said the fire destroyed unused cars and other spare parts at the dump site and later spread to surrounding buildings. Residents and store owners were seen evacuating their goods and belongings from buildings near the raging fire.

Fire fighters from the Agip Oil Company responded to distress call to put out the fire.

Spokesman for the police in Rivers state, Ben Ugwuegbulam, said that policemen had been sent to the area to ensure security of lives and property.

“The command received a report of the fire incident at Ikoku motor parts market. We have sent our men to ensure that hoodlums do not capitalize on the incident to steal from the stores in the neighbourhood.

“We have also told residents of the area and owners of stores to report to the police any incident of stealing or acts that could lead to breakdown of law and order,” he said.

Ugwuebulam said that the police were on top of the situation and would ensure that criminals did not cause havoc in the area. He said the command had not received any report of loss of life from the fire scene.

MI lists events he thinks are the most tragic in 2012

In a matter of weeks, 2012 will be over. It was a tragic year for many Nigerians. Starting from the very first day of the year, Nigerians were hit by both human and natural disasters, highlighting the scorching symptoms of chronic corruption in the country.

Nigerian top Hip hop Artist, MI, is one of those who can’t wait for the year to be over, and gone with its tragedies.

“It seemed like one tragedy followed the other with barely room for us as a nation to breathe and find our bearings,” MI, Mr. Incredible, said.

MI, a rapper and poet, made a list of the 11 reasons he wants this year out fast, in a rare showing of social poetry in the Nigerian music industry.

MI – real name, Jude Abaga – published his “goodbye list” on his website. Here are snapshots.

“Some are more serious than others, but all were moments that left us wondering what was going on, and why the people in charge seemed to have taken a break,” he said.

1. FUEL SUBSIDY PROTESTS

Nigerians woke up on the first of January to find the pump price of petrol more than doubled. The government said they had their reasons for removing the fuel subsidy, but we found them hard to understand. People took to the streets in protest, and nationwide strikes ensued. Anybody who took part in it or followed events will remember the naked anger, mistrust, and bitter taste the episode left in our mouths.

2. BOKO HARAM

Boko Haram made an early appearance, becoming responsible for over 620 deaths in the first half of the year alone (www.huffingtonpost.com). The sect wreaked carnage among states in the North and Middle Belt. Federal and State institutions, Schools and places of worship came under attack. It seemed like every weekend brought news of another bombing. The Security Agencies seemed unable to stop the menace and the people got tired of hearing the President condemn the killings.

Our hearts go out to all who lost loved ones and property in the attacks.

3. DEATH OF MOHITS

After a decade of working together Dbanj and Don Jazzy split. It could have been handled better, as accusations and counter accusations flew and dirty laundry was airily displayed. They’ve both gone on to do remarkably well but the episode reminded us of how things can quickly change and nothing is certain.

4. YEKINI DIED

In a career which spanned over 2 decades, 5 countries and 2 world cups and earned him a African Footballer of the Year Award, Rashidi Yekini had become one of Nigeria’s most iconic football heroes. He died at the age of 48.

5. DANA AIR CRASH

In one event, over a hundred lives were lost and families left bereaved. A flight headed for Lagos crashed in the outskirts of the city killing all passengers and crew. It was impossible to avoid the pain. It’s raw edges leaked into our homes and hearts and we mourned together as a nation.

6. LAWAN GATE

Femi Otedola, the Managing Director of Zenon Oil and Gas Limited, made the allegation that Farouk Lawan, Chairman, House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy Management had received a bribe from him. Denials, accusations and taped conversations followed. It was a disheartening mess which destroyed faith in a man people had believed in as being better than the system.

Apparently forgotten, the case has settled, unsettled, into the dusty motes of forgotten files.

7. NATIONWIDE FLOODS

The floods began in June and kept on through the year, destroying homes and farmland. So far, over 360 people have been reported dead and over 2.1 million people displaced in what is one of the nations greater tragedies(in.reuters.com). Thank you to all the individuals and organisations who have raised support and awareness for those affected.

8. NIGERIA AT THE OLYMPICS

Everyone will remember our dismal performance at the London 2012 Olympics, but we don’t blame you if you’ve tried your best to forget. The lack of medals and the thunderous defeat of our Basketball team ruined an event that had hitherto filled us with a sense of unity and national pride.

We do hope somebody somewhere is preparing for the Rio 2016.

9. MUBI MASSACRE

On 1st October, unidentified gunmen lined up and shot to death over 25 students at their hostel in Mubi in the North-Eastern part of the country. No explanations, no findings whatsoever.

Beautiful lives, wasted.

10. ALUU 4

October 5th. Red October. Four young men were brutally lynched on suspicion of robbery by members of the Aluu community in Rivers State of Nigeria. The video circulated over the internet and caused mass shock and outrage. Then again, we were left with helpless anger in our guts and sorrow in our guts.

11. GOVERNOR PATRICK YAKOWA

Saturday 15th December, a Naval helicopter carrying Patrick Yakowa, Governor of Kaduna State, and the former National Security Adviser, Gen. Owoye Azazi, and two of their aides crashed at Okoroba community in Nembe Local Government Area, Bayelsa State killing them and the 2 pilots.

The accident brings to mind the fairly recent crash involving Taraba State Governor Danbaba Suntai, which left him and 5 of his aides injured on the 25th of October.

To us, they might only be names in the news. To others they were fathers, friends, brothers.

Last week, there were rumors that Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State had passed away. However, SaharaReporters was able to determine that Mr. Imoke is in the US where he is receiving regular dialyses for a renal disease.

One source disclosed that Mr. Imoke is staying with relatives in the state of Maryland, near Washington, DC.

“Liyel [Imoke]’s kidneys are in bad condition and he’s undergoing regular dialyses,” said one of our sources.

Another source said the governor maybe undergoing surgery for kidney transplant since he has remained unreachable in the last 48 hours.

Governor Imoke has been out of Nigeria for several weeks after he disclosed that he needed to take time off to address a health condition. However, Mr. Imoke did not reveal that his health problem has to do with his kidneys and that he was proceeding to the US to receive monitoring and treatment.

One of our sources said that the ailing governor “has no immediate plans to return to Calabar,” the capital of Cross River State.

Mr. Imoke shot into national prominence when he headed a technical committee on the power sector during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo. Mr. Obasanjo had tasked the committee with ensuring that Nigerians began to enjoy regular, uninterrupted electricity supply. However, the Imoke committee and the Obasanjo administration squandered close to $16 billion without achieving any improvement in power supply.

Despite widespread criticism that dogged Mr. Imoke, President Obasanjo and the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nominated him as the party’s governorship candidate for Cross River State.

Desperate times indeed call for desperate measures! The governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam has cried out that members of the Boko Haram sect were planning to attack him.
"Going by security reports available to me, I may be attacked any day, anywhere, anytime and this is the reason I called on you Christians to pray for me and my family".
The governor, who is a Christian, made this revelation on Monday while addressing members of NKST Church, in Makurdi, the state capital.

Governor Suswan decried a situation in which only four Christians from the north were elected governor of their states.

He said with the demise of Patrick Yakowa in a helicopter crash and the current situation of Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State, only two Christians Governors are now left standing from the north, out of 19 states in the region.

Amina Yakowa, wife of the late Governor of Kaduna state, Patrick Yakowa, has said that her last moment with her husband was a “blessed one”.

However, she said on Sunday at the Eucharistic Mass of St. Patrick’s Chaplaincy, Government House Kaduna that her worst regret was not praying with him before he embarked on his last journey to Bayelsa State on Saturday.

She described with an emotion laden voice how the usual family routine for them was to offer private prayer every morning, before joining the daily celebration of mass at 6 a.m. at the chaplaincy.

She said that on Saturday, she was unable to say the usual prayers with her husband because she was down with catarrh, which made her very weak, the late Yakowa then woke her up, urged her to get well soon so that she can join him in the thanksgiving service of the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, scheduled to hold on Sunday, December 16.

On December 23, they would have celebrated their 34th year of a marriage she described as a happy one.

The Archbishop of Kaduna, Matthew Ndagoso described the late governor as a dedicated man who used his position to promote peace, unity and development in the state.

He advised the family and people in the state not to despair, but rather be positive as the late governor had lived a good life worthy of emulation while tasking Yakowa’s successor to continue with the projects initiated by his predecessor.

Former Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ramalan Yero, stepped into the shoes of his late principal yesterday with a promise to build on the good work of Yakowa.

The Enugu State government Sunday, debunked the rumours making the round that governor Sullivan Chime has passed away.

Chime was reported by some publications (not Vanguard) to have passed on at an Indian hospital on Saturday, after battling an undisclosed ailment for some months.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr Chucks Ugwuoke who confirmed this to Vanguard on Sunday, described the news as unfounded.

He was dark and disturbed, a deeply troubled boy from a wealthy family who unnerved his neighbors and classmates.

Mass murderer Adam Lanza, 20, was a ticking time bomb, people who knew him told the Daily News.

“This was a deeply disturbed kid,” a family insider told the Daily News. “He certainly had major issues. He was subject to outbursts from what I recall.”

Lanza, who friends and officials said suffered from Asperger’s syndrome or a personality disorder, had a tortured mind.

He was socially awkward and at times unstable, but also extraordinarily bright.

“He was smart,” the insider said. “He was like one of these real brainiac computer kind of kids.”

A “longtime” family friend said Lanza had a condition “where he couldn’t feel pain.”

“A few years ago when he was on the baseball team, everyone had to be careful that he didn’t fall because he could get hurt and not feel it,” said the friend. “Adam had a lot of mental problems.”

Lanza’s strange behavior was well-known among his well-heeled neighbors in leafy Newtown, Conn. His antics irked several residents.

“Adam Lanza has been a weird kid since we were 5 years old,” a neighbor and former classmate named Tim Dalton wrote on Twitter. “As horrible as this was, I can’t say I am surprised . . . Burn in hell, Adam.”

He was also seen as an odd figure at Newtown High School.

Even before that, Lanza walked the halls of his middle school carrying a black briefcase while most students lugged their belongings in backpacks. “That stuck out,” said Tim Lalli, 20, who graduated with Lanza in 2010. “It was different.”

Lalli said Lanza wasn’t a total outcast, but he didn’t speak much.

“Everyone just assumed he was a smart kid and that’s why he didn’t like talking to people all the time,” he said. “He hung out with the smart crowd.”

And he lived in luxury.

Lanza was living with his devoted mother, Nancy, in the family’s four-bedroom, 3,100-square-foot estate.

Nancy Lanza divorced Adam’s father, Peter, in 2008. Peter Lanza, now a vice president of taxes for GE Energy Financial Services, agreed to annual alimony payments that started at $240,000 and would have reached $298,800 in 2015.

The couple had married on June 6, 1981, in Kingston, N.H. — where Adam Lanza was born — and the divorce hit Peter Lanza hard, his lawyer said.

“He was very upset that he was getting divorced, but he didn’t want to take it out on anybody,” said attorney Gary Oberst.
He said the Lanzas were deeply devoted to their children. In fact, Peter Lanza insisted on handing over more money than his lawyer initially suggested.

“He did more than he had to with the divorce,” said Oberst. “When he came in to consult with me, I said, ‘This is what your obligation is.’ He said, ‘That’s not enough. I want to do more.’ ”

The family insider described the Lanzas as “lovely, very generous people who were very kind to each other during the divorce.”

Peter Lanza was blindsided by news of the shooting. When he drove up to his red-brick home in Stamford, Conn., Friday afternoon, a reporter was waiting outside.

“Is there something I can do for you?” Lanza asked,, according to the Connecticut Post.

When told his address had been linked to the Newtown massacre, his face dropped, he rolled up the window of his blue Mini Cooper and drove into his garage without commenting.

He had arrived home just after a group of cops left. The sight of the officers freaked out neighbor Geralyn Petrafesa.

“Around 3 p.m., I drive by and saw the police wearing vests,” said Petrafesa. “They were approaching the house. I ran home and told my kids to stay in the house. I figured it was connected with what was going on in Newtown.”

The 52-year-old Peter Lanza had only recently moved in with his new wife, Shelley Cudiner, who works in the library at the University of Connecticut.

Peter Lanza also has an academic background. He has served as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University in Boston since 1995 and has taught classes on tax partnerships at Fairfield University, according to the Connecticut Post.

Nancy Lanza, 54, whom Adam murdered inside the home the two shared, reportedly had worked at Sandy Hook Elementary School. But more recently, she was taking care of her son.

“She needed to be home with Adam,” the family insider said.

Nancy was known as a pillar of the community, while neighbors viewed her troubled son as a terror.

“My daughter went to school w/adam lanza,” a former neighbor who identified herself as Beth Israel wrote on Twitter. “We lived 6 houses away. He was troubled for sure for a long time. RIP nancy.”

Early news reports suggested Adam Lanza’s 24-year-old brother, Ryan, had launched the rampage — but Beth Israel believed otherwise.

“It has to be Adam, not Ryan,” she tweeted.

Ryan Lanza, who lives in Hoboken and works at Ernst and Young, didn’t talk about his younger brother while attending Quinnipiac University.

“I knew he had a brother, but I never knew anything more than he existed,” said a college friend.

Ryan Lanza told cops he had not been in touch with his brother since about 2010.

One family friend described Adam Lanza as a gamer who “rarely spoke.”

“He was weird,” said the friend, who asked to remain anonymous. “He was quiet.”

Lanza’s maternal grandmother, Dorothy Hanson, told a Tampa Bay Times reporter she was too shaken to speak.

“(I’m) just trying to absorb it,” said Hanson, 78, who spends winters in a modest mobile home park in Brooksville, Fla.

A friend of Hanson’s said Lanza’s elderly grandmother was “beside herself right now.”

Late Friday night, Peter Lanza’s neighbors said they wondered how he was going to cope with the news that his ex-wife was dead and his youngest son would forever be known as a murderous monster.

“This whole thing is just tragic,” said one neighbor. “I can’t image what he’s dealing with right now.”

Disaster struck Thursday night as five children of the same parents were roasted by fire at No. 29 Comfort Oboh Street, Kirikiri Town in Lagos. The father of the kids is popularly known as Osuofia. The entire compound, which housed about 36 tenants, was razed to the ground.

People said occupants battled during the incident to save their own from the inferno. At dawn, sympathisers besieged the premises wailing. The ruins were wrenching with charred bodies of the dead at the spot where the fire started. Saturday Sun gathered that the fire started at 11.30 pm in the room where the five children were sleeping and spread to other rooms.

The house was made of wood. People said that parents of the deceased locked the children in the room with a candle light and went back to their shop across the street. However, while the kids were asleep, the candlelight got out of control and started spreading. While the fire raged, the kids were woken by the heat and smoke.

They shouted for help. Neighbours who spoke with Saturday Sun said that they heard the shouts of the children when the fire was raging, but they could not break through the hard burglary proof at the entrance of the room to rescue them. According to residents who witnessed the incident, men of the Fire Service were informed earlier, but they could not get to the scene on time because of the bad nature of roads in Kirirkiri, especially Dillion Street.

“The road is bad and there is always traffic in that area. But Naval Fire Service vehicle got there earlier but could not help the situation because the damages by the fire had already been much,” a resident of the area said. One of the tenants, Mr. Udoh Bassey, whose room stands partially burnt, told Saturday Sun that no one could say exactly what caused the fire.

“It started at 11.30 pm when some of us were still awake. It was the cry from that room that attracted my attention. The entire compound was razed before help could come our way. I was able to save few of my properties because my room is located far away from the source of fire. The children died because their parents locked them inside the house and went back to their shops close by. We tried, but before we could reach them, there were explosions from one room to another as all the other rooms were engulfed by the fire.”

Bassey said it took the intervention of some neighbours to save the fire from extending to a nearby house, otherwise it would have been more disastrous. Another neighbour, identified as Mama Chidi, lamented that the family had concluded plans to travel home for Christmas before the tragedy struck. “Only God knows why He allowed this to happen.

I can vividly remember when Mama Emeka (mother of the dead children) ordered her children to go and sleep as she needed to go back to attend to customers who were waiting for her. Emeka, the oldest pleaded that they should be allowed to stay outside for a while. She insisted that they should go to bed since they were to travel the next day.

I believe that it was in a bid to prevent them from running out of the house that prompted her to lock them inside and went away with the key.” Another tenant, an Hausa woman who was visibly shaken thanked God for saving her life and that of her children as they were fast asleep when the fire started. She said she was in the bathroom when the fire started and before she could rush out, it had already covered the entire compound.

“In fact, I do not know how to explain the whole situation. I was lucky that my sister noticed the fire on time and dragged my children before our room was razed. I cannot imagine how five children from the same parents should just die like that. Though they are not my children, I know what it means for a woman like me to lose her five children.

The kids are three boys and two girls. What pains me most is that some of them use to welcome me each time I returned to the house from my outing; some time, they collect my luggage and sent it inside my room,” she sobbed. When Saturday Sun visited, the parents were said to have been moved to an undisclosed location. According to a man who said he was a neighbour, they were taken away “for obvious reasons.” However, the paper learnt that they were quite devastated. One said they had lost their minds.

A female tenant, who pleaded anonymity, stated that several things had been happening around the area in the recent time and therefore called for God to intervene. “I wonder how the mother of the children would feel, losing them this time around”. I will say that this incident is satanic. People are blaming the parents for leaving their children inside the room. But they will not understand what was behind the whole thing.

In fact, so many terrible things are happening in this Comfort Oboh, Street. Last time, a child fell from the staircase and died. So, we are living by the grace of God.” Meanwhile, Lagos State Police command’s spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident.

She said the children were Emeka, 12; Ifeanyi, 10; Chinasa, 8; Joy, 6 and bright, 4. The charred bodies of the children have been released to the family, according to the police spokesperson.
