European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Why Do We Have So Much Premiership Soccer On The Front Page? by MyTake: 11:23am On Dec 04, 2011
??

Im strugglling to understand how every English Premiership game results become headline on Nairaland
Why then do we not have Enyimba Vs Dolphine or Lobi Stars on the headlines page

In my opinion, the headlines page should for pressing national/polical/economic or social issues

Family / Your Wife Tells You A Man Is Asking Her Out: What To Do? by MyTake: 1:22am On Oct 06, 2011
, she tells you a man is asking her out. The man knows you and you have met him before. Your wife says ' you know I'm married, you know my husband and u have seen my kids' ; he says 'dont worry about him- he would never know'

What do you do, keep quiet and hope your wife will ward him off??
(would ur wife interpret this as not caring about it?)

or go confront him?
(How would this be viewed?)

velo10:

Why is it during Siasia's tenure that that there is so much rave about indiscipline among players. I think Siasia is having an inferiority complex with the fact that the players earn more than him or something. So far Mikel, Odemingwe, Etuhu, Enyeama, Anichebe have had issues with this guy.

You probably heard the words 'inferirority complex' but u dont have a clue what it means- go do your homework pally

Indiscipline has always been an issue for teams.

Responding to Ghanian's kinda give them some sort of relevance they've always craved- I dont think they deserve any attention at all. Leave Ghanians alone with their inferiority complex

Without sounding tribal. Why is that most judges in the supreme court, court of appeal et al are usually northerners.

You already are,

Salami should have been removed a long time ago. He's becoming a lord unto himself and very arrogant - whether or not he is right is another matter. The CJN will soon be retiring, so it's  better that both go so that the judiciary can put it's house in order.

He single-handedly installed ACN in the southwest

Gbam! u took d words outta ma mouth

Greenpro:

Jonathan accepted the recommendation of 5 people above the Nigeria people.
Which Nigerian People? U? just shut up!

I really cant understand how we think in this country, Is Salami supposed to be above the law?- isnt he answerable to a consitutional body? wasnt his removal a recomendation from the body he is supposed to be answerable to? w

HSBC is not a Chinese bank.

HSBC is an abbreviation for HongKong and Shanghai Banking Corporation!. Maybe you wanna educate me where that is please??
Business / Re: Islamic Banking Necessitated By Effect Of Global Meltdown – Sanusi by MyTake: 6:44pm On Jul 19, 2011
texazzpete:

See these attached files? HSBC has no qualms in using the terms 'Islamic Banking' and 'Shariah compliant' to describe their islamic banking services.

So apparently Nigeria is a more secular nation than the UK.

Another point often raised is that Nigeria is too deeply divided along religious lines. Well, the UK had the underground bombings by Al Qaeda, no less, with many Al Qaeda affiliated cells in hiding around the country. Yet Islamic banking goes on as planned.

HSBC is not a country, they are a purely profit driven enterprise. If Islamic banking was not a success for them, would they still be running with it?

Nice one, note however that HSBC is a chinese bank and Nigeria and China are two very different nations especially when in comes to Religious tolerance. I dont think muslims make up a significant percentage of the Chinese population (I may be wrong) but here in Nigeria its almost 50-50 so defiinely we need to be more cautious
Business / Re: Islamic Banking Necessitated By Effect Of Global Meltdown – Sanusi by MyTake: 4:52pm On Jul 19, 2011
I think the word 'Islamic" just puts a lot of people off so they fail to see the other side of the argument. This is basically interest-free banking. The CBN act provides for it so I wonder why even learned people are throwing stones at Sanusi (I agree though that Sanusi is a very sturborn guy- he shoudl simply stop reffering to it as islamic)

Non interest banking is for everyone, especially the low income bracket- I'm fully and proudly Christian but I wouldnt hesitate to take advantage of it when it comes- another thing is its fully OPTIONAL. So u can still choose to use our 'darling' cmmercial banks who give loans at over 50% interest (you heard me right- OVER 50%. unfortunately most of us dont see the hidden charges)

Commercial banking in Nigeria has FAILED. Period! banks are meant to grow the economy but our banks just create large livestyles for a few indivuduals at the expense of the rest- how else do a explain banks carrying toxic assets in $Billions while even SMEs cant get financing??

That is what most people do not understand, Sanusi is a straight talker, Okonjo Iweala is the same, they will get on each other's nerves but there will be mutual respect between the two, they are just too professional not to work together.

I like your logic

Recycling has never worked for Nigeria. We have been recycling people since independence and see where we are after over 40 years. I believe Iweala is ok as a person but we need to try new hands, maybe, just maybe, things will be better. Most of the old 'experienced' hands are simply USELESS! they only have looting experience

Amya:

i read somewhere that when marriage starts becoming stale and boring, the glass kinda shatters and spouses start noticing irritating habits by the other spouse they never noticed before. Little things starts to irritate them, and even things that once excites them begin to disgust them. The problem may not be your wife's noisy gum chewing, or even the make up (you say is loud) but may be one of those underlying issues of marriage.

My Advice? try to inject some of the previous sparks in the marriage, try to see her in those eyes you used to see her. Just know that the gum and make up may not be the problem as there maybe an underlying issue. find out what it is, and you may just be on your way to save your marriage.

Thanks Amya

I think the administrator of this forum should introduce 'award points' for reasonable responses.

Missy ★ B:

The chewing of gum and making funny sounds loudly isn't cool, neither is it, to go with with someone that looks like a poorly painted puppet.

I want to believe by heavy makeup, the poster meant heavy makeup - excess this and that.

@Missy B. Thank you my sister- finally some1 reasons with me. I'd stated earlier that i dont mind moderate make up- In fact I buy my wife make up stuff sometime so its not like i dont apreciate any make up at all but I dont like red lipstick, green eye shadows, ur know all the very loud stuff all at once.

What I dont seem to get is if these replies suggest I should just shut up?? If I cant tell my wife what I like and what I dont then who should?
Na wao!

FYI - the gum chewing sound is kinda strange to me- she's always chewed gum but that irritating noise started lately (or maybe i only noticed lately)
Romance / My Wife And Heavy Makeup by MyTake: 6:32am On Mar 29, 2011
Hi people

Need some advice (especially from the ladies) please. My wife is naturally pretty, yet she uses a lot of make up and I have told her several times times that I do not like that. I've always admired very natural women (but I dont mind mild makeup). I have told her my feelings about ladies with very heavy makeup - It generally gives me the impression of a street girl (apologies to any1 who finds this offensive - but this is really my feeling). I have always told her heavy make up reminds me of the girls on Allen at night.

She also likes to chew gum and make very funny sounds that I find quite irritating.

What else do I need to do to make her stop all these?

Politics / How Has Dimeji Bankole Performed As Speaker Of The House Of Reps by MyTake: 9:57am On Dec 15, 2010
When Dimeji Bankole became speaker of the House of Representative after 'Ettehgate', there were high hopes as he was youthful and highly educated. Many people believed there would be a shift in thinking and in the way business is done in the lower chamber

Few years down the line are hopes still high? has he lived up to expectations? have we seen real changes from the way the old generation of nigerian politcians do legislative business?

Is his performance good (or bad) enough to prove that the Nigerian youth are ready (or not ready) to assume top leadership positions in this country?
