APCmyheart: WRONG! The term 'Niger Delta' refers to a geographical area which has nothing to do with oil or politics. Other examples include Nile Delta, Volga Delta, Danube....etc. The fact that some people misuse the term to describe what you posted does not make it universally acceptable. Cheers! |

mctowel01: I totally disagree with these comments. There's no evidence that a society of the non-religious is more barbaric/violent (or otherwise) than any one composed essentially of religious folks (eg. Scandinavian countries are not religious and yet peaceful and sane). While not everyone may be urbane in any type of society, humans are social animals and the need to tolerate others for the sake of survival is sheer instinct. 1 Like |

honourhim: LMAO. So many insults in nearly all your posts. Both of you (honourhim & MizJanet) appear to have a few things in common (one always casting aspersions on the other's viewpoints) except that you are both at opposing extremities of this philosophical debate. I know something that can effectively resolve this impasse ... Two revolvers, one bullet each.... A duel. By the way, you still haven't given any reason why you cherry-picked the (body) parts of your GOD (not capitalised for emphasis) and the functions of those parts. Since the GOD you described is anthropomorphic, it's goes without saying that the tongue you spoke about should be complete in all its functions i.e. speaking...making th sounds , tasting spiritual food, protecting the spiritual windpipe from spiritual food particles, etc. No offense intended, I just don't understand your argument. Cheers! |

NumberOne2: Bravo! Bravo! A very typical response from your kind; resorting to insults when common sense is against you. You didn't have to go through all that trouble to explain that "melt" was used figuratively. ...which again, is typical of your kind... whatever doesn't make sense must have a figurative meaning. Cheers! |
Religion / Re: Why Religion Is Clueless ( Section 2) by Naital(m): 3:07am On Jul 05, 2015 |
NumberOne2: I have seen mountains grow not melt away ... due to volcanic activities (besides I don't see what volcanoes have in common with melting stars). Only super massive stars end in supernovae. Supernovae are not melting stars. In Physics (as well as English), melting refers to phase transformation from solid to liquid. Stars are gaint bodies of hot ionized gases called plasma. Gases (Plasma) don't melt. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

malvisguy212: I thought you said you are open to learning. Do your research properly, if you will. Perhaps you'll get a better grasp of what your interwoven space - time fabric is. I doubt how much you know of the theories you quote, like you said "you are not a scientist"; but I am. No need for replies, you'll get no more from me. Cheers! |
Religion / Re: Agnostics,atheists And Others Religion. Pleased Read!!! by Naital(m): 8:39am On Jun 04, 2015 |
malvisguy212: Oh yes, I'd gladly share... in as simple terms as I can conjure. It's good to know you have an idea of what the space - time fabric is. However, space - time in the simplest form is not 3 - dimensional, it's 4 (the three traditional planes x, y, z & time). Phenomena such as quantum entanglement can only be understood when time is seen at par with the other dimensions. This may appear counter intuitive, but experiments after experiments have proven this to be correct. As a matter of fact, the String Theory which was developed in the 1990s predict even more dimensions (which are so far yet to be experimentally proven). The LHC experiments which were started again yesterday deep under the France/Swiss border are part of efforts to understand more of this subject. When I peer through my telescope at Night, am much so stunned by how tiny we are even in the observable universe. The stuffs out there are not limited to three dimensions. (By the way I'm one of those very few Nigerians who care enough about understanding the universe to invest personal $$$ in telescopes). I hope my post makes *some sense to you. |

ayoku777: lol. @bold. According to your assertions, it would be safe to assume that these angels (& possibly God too) have body parts ....like... hmmm...hmmmm. I suggest you remove "etc" from your post, cos you are triggering some funny imaginations. Let's limit the body parts to hands, mouths, legs and... I guess they have heads too. 1 Like |

After all these years of trying of trying to understand, I still can't figure it out. Why are all these non-Kwarans taking panadol for our perceived headache? We don't even have a headache in the first place. At least no headache that's worse than what others have. Please leave us alone! Thank you. |

Maamin: Though he might not have been an atheist, he certainly was not a theist. Einstein said, "I believe in Spinoza's God, who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings." He also said, "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." |
Religion / Re: Understanding Religious Delusion by Naital(m): 7:48pm On Jul 01, 2012 |
Interesting it was to read through these well informed and highly educated arguments coming from fellow Nigerians. I'm impressed. Here's a little contribution from me: As a deist of a sort, i've always considered myself "the man on the fence". I find it completely unnecessary to take sides on matters of religion. I do not believe in a personal god who concerns himself in the affairs of men. I'm also not of the opinion that there must be a reason for everything. Nonetheless, I find it hard to criticize those who believe in such a god because I have come to the understanding that it is 'human' to have delusions, religious delusions being just one of the many kinds. Regards to all the brilliant fellows who have contributed to this thread. 1 Like |
