Politics / Become A US Citizen Now……. Boko Haram Is Coming For You! by nasticy: 11:04pm On Jun 10, 2012
Recently, I was reading the US naturalization test, and the questions intrigued me. Some of the questions asked are: What is the rule of law, What does the constitution do, What is an amendment, Who is your states Senator now, what stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful?
You can read all the 100 questions here. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.749cabd81f5ffc8fba713d10526e0aa0/?vgnextoid=c242df6bdd42a210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=c242df6bdd42a210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD

Boko Haram is a branch of government that has become too powerful. BH is the total embodiment of all government failures…. Bad governance, bad leadership, corruption, greed, injustice (IBB looted, nothing happened, Abdulsalam looted, nothing happened, Bankole looted, everyone has forgotten, 1 trillion naira subsidy scam-where are the culprits? ), cowardice ( aka fear, lack of political will etc- which you will find in Rev 21:8, Good News Bible, as the number 1 vice that is leading people to hell, even before immorality and witchcraft), Insecurity (yet one man will stay in the safety of his presidential palace and declare come June 2012, Boko Haram will be completely wiped out. Yet this is June 10 and the bombings continue. Moreover, in typical useless Nigerian diplomacy, if you ask him why BH is still active, I am sure he will tell you June is not yet over)….. the list goes on.

Who do you think rules Nigeria? You don’t know? Okay, Ask yourself this simple question.
The President instructs Nigerians to come out to Eagles Square for an event. Boko Haram releases a press statement stating no one should show up. Who will you obey? smiley

The Government is absolutely clueless on how to solve Nigeria’s problems. Instead it goes about putting the cart before the horse……You rename Unilag (as if the name is their problem), you increase electricity tariff (so we pay more for darkness), you change police school uniform, you rename NEPA to PHCN….the list of irrelevancies is endless. All government does is expensive cosmetic surgery when we need a heart transplant.
What upholds a country is the rule of law. That is the only reason US is great. Americans first of all know, then obey the law. Those who disobey are reprimanded….even if you are the President himself. Please mark my words… Nigeria will continue to be a failing state until everyone knows and obeys the law. And since only God’s laws are perfect, our laws need to be amended. Nigeria will continue to be a poor country until justice prevails…for according to Bryan Stevenson, the opposite of poverty is not wealth, but justice. Think about it. Billions stolen by wicked leaders are just opportunity cost that should have been invested in job creation, infrastructural development and education. As a result of their avarice millions of Nigerians go about hungry…….and bitter. There will be no commonwealth in this nation until people pay the price for their actions. As it is written….“And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.” Is 59:14.
The average American knows their rights. For God sake… the country demands that prospective citizens pass the naturalization test which is entirely about the law of the land and the country’s history. How many Nigerians know what our own constitution says? I myself am guilty. But even if I do know my rights……can they protect me in this country of ours? Of course they can’t! Because there is no justice.

That said, let us pass our own naturalization test. Government is everyone’s responsibility. Each reader should go and find out their senator and house of rep member responsible for their home state and/or residential area. Go and find out where they live. Find out whether they have electricity when Nepa takes your own light…..find out how many cars they have their disposal while you are jumping keke and bike… find out how many police escorts they have while you are your own security man. For you guys abroad…..remember you still have family here. So you are not exempt from this exercise. If after your investigations, you discover that una no dey the same level, you better do something about it. Because until they feel your pain, until they suffer the injustice you are suffering, nothing will happen. Be committed and involved about your life and your future. Lest your children curse you.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I did not speak out;
As I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I did not speak out;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
As I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
As I was not a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
-Martin Niemoller.

In summary, we must learn to speak and take deliberate action. Injustice is our problem in Nigeria. Innocent Nigerians have died again today because of wickedness. Do something before Boko Haram kills you too.

Education / Re: Us Firm Plans Robotics Teaching In Nigerian Schools by nasticy: 10:54am On Feb 13, 2012
I think its a great idea.

I constructed and programmed a mobile robot as my final year project. I even got to teach some children from sunday school how to program the robot. The thing about robotics is its quite interdisciplinary and those who are not  passionate about it may never understand how much work it requires. Still EVERYONE likes the end result. ( I mean, who wouldnt want a robot in their house ?) Anyway, even if its for 6 weeks, think about the young minds that would literally be changed forever.

Its worth it, no matter how small. wink
Properties / Re: Architecture, Energy Conservation And Alternative Energy. by nasticy: 1:11pm On Sep 19, 2011
I have tried the solar marketing campaign some years back. It was difficult. After corruption, our countries problem is ignorance. Benjamin Franklin said "I will speak evil of no man", and in light of this, i am not here to disparage anyone, but to encourage we few. Its great to be in a forum with like minds.It is rare to find practical professionals. That said, i believe the government has a major part to play in this, as do we. In forward thinking countries, the government encourages its citizens to use alternative energy by giving subsidies and rebates. Some electric utility companies even pay their customers for generation of alternative energy which is fed back into the grid. But here in Nigeria, we are talking about Nuclear energy,

We who are enlightened need to pool our resources and experience to create public awareness, plus prayers. Nigerians by default do not think long term, and so must be convinced why they must make the necessary investment in alternative energy. If we can come together and make a VIDEO DOCUMENTARY of how many billions of Naira companies can save by cutting diesel costs, not to talk about the environmental tragedies that will be avoided, we will get somewhere.

Please guys, this is our passion. Lets get together so this dream and thread does not die.
Politics / Re: Boko Haram Is Not Our Problem, Corruption Is by nasticy: 12:33pm On Sep 09, 2011
I must say that this is the most important topic i have ever read on nairaland. It is important that we implement the death penalty for corruption, at least in this era. It must be done, before things get worse. We didnt listen to the Niger Deltans plight, till they resorted to kidnapping. Now kidnapping is a canker worm in our collective security. Suicide bombing was foreign to our polity, now Boko Haram is an active participant. It is time Nigerians and the constitution take a proactive stance in our present challenges. Proverbs says a prudent man anticipates the evil and hides himself. Let us not wait for problems to occur before we tackle them, a wise nation would anticipate the problem and address it before it happens. Therefore, in anticipation of further demise in Nigeria, I believe the "DEATH SENTENCE FOR CORRUPT PUBLIC OFFICE HOLDERS" is NOT AN OPTION. IT IS A NECESSITY. angry angry angry angry
