what is wrong with this people and "if you did not witness the war" thing they keep talking about? We did not witness the war but most of us have recieved first hand account of what happened from our parents and relatives. It's not like we don't know all that happend.

" please forget Biafra agitation, it will lead to war, starvation, loss of property and investment, suffering and death! Kanu will lead people astray and run back to Britain! Biafra died in 1970! The people agitating for Biafra never saw the war!"

What is wrong with Nigerians these days that they cant think objectively? People will see a house burning, instead of asking what caused the fire, they will ask why the house is burning even though they can see it is burning.

People will see a dead Biafran protester and say 'if she/had not come out to protest it would not have happened' but the same people don't ask why the police is shooting unarmed protesters when there are rubber bullets, water spray and teargas that can do the same job without loss of life.

People say 'Kanu is a hate preacher and terrorist' yet no act of terrorism can be attributed to him and all he did was excercise his constitutionally guaranteed right to free speech.

People will say 'Biafra brought war' while it is Nigeria that came down to the East to start war.

People will say 'little kids starved to death' without questioning why Gowon would not allow food to get to people.

People say 'all is fair in war' but many people are standing trial in the international court in The Hague for war crimes exactly because they were not fair in war.

People will say 'why should Ojukwu declare Biafra?' but they never ask why a white man should declare us all Nigerians.

People say 'one Nigeria' but we all lived alongside each other for thousands of years before Lugard created Nigeria 100 years ago. Are we happier together today than we were when we were not together?

This myopic level of reasoning by Africans is why the continent is not moving foward. We keep asking the wrong questions and lying to our selves. It's a shame

Self determination is a right, not a privilege

I like the discourse on the salient questions that remain unanswered till date. But I hate the way IPOB and MASSOB are belittling such serious issue. Biafra is not about rouge radio station or hoisting torn flags on uncompleted building or burning trucks. There should be conscious and methodical pressure for the development of the areas most affected by the war. There should be anniversary lectures, data, rallies. The pressure groups should be led by knowledgeable and responsible individuals who command presence and respect. It shouldn't be Kanu, Kalu or Uwazuruike who can't sit and discourse intelligently with other leaders anywhere.

The above would have made sense if Nigeria was a civilised country. Unfortunately, it is not.

If he actually came up with 10 reasons why Igbos are Nigerians, there would have been something to talk about

"As the massacre of Igbos continued in the north of Nigeria, a certain Ikwere man who was confident that nothing would happen to him stayed indoors, while other Igbos were fleeing, until his neigbours informed a mob of Northerners about him. The mob broke into his house armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons and the Ikwere man shouted 'please don't hurt me! I am not Igbo! The leader of the mob came up to him and the following happend:

Mob leader: Kai menini! where are you from! You look Igbo?!

Ikwere man: please I am an Ikwere man from Southern Nigeria! I am not Igbo! I don't even know where Igbo land is!

Just then, the mob leader sees the Ikwere man's work ID card on the table and picks it up

Mob Leader: 'Your name is Uchechukwu Amadi?'

Ikwere man: 'Yes that's my name, I'm Ikwere not Igbo!

Mob leader: Usman! Bring our sharpest cutlass!

The moral of the story is, never reject people you have a common destiny with because when chips are down, they might be all you got.

The people whose land bordered the sea had already been liberated from the grip of the Igbo Biafra. They were satisfied with being Nigerians and fought for Nigeria.

Till today, they accord Gowon the respect merited by his actions.

Whose oil did Ojukwu attempt to sell? Oil belonging to people who were proud to identify as Nigerians, or the yet to be explored oil in Igbo land?

Whose forces first invaded the territory of the other, the Biafran rebels or the Nigerian Army?

The so called 'one Nigeria' that the northerners used in taking over 80% of Southern oil? These people are still beging for 13% derivation when they had 50% in eastern Nigeria.

Your Nigerian invaded Biafra long before Ojukwu invaded the Midwest

The sea that belongs to Nigeria? Is Igbo land anywhere near the sea?

Britain won the war for Nigeria, while mercenaries lost the war for Biafra, right?

Peaceful ways like welcoming the invading Biafran Army into the MidWest or declaring a trade treaty for dropping bombs on Lagos?

You call a declaration of war a dispute?

How did the sea belong to Nigeria? That body of waster was called the bight of Biafra. It belonged to Biafra long before there was anything like Nigeria. Even if the sea belonged to Nigeria, British warships should not have been there. Britain should have stayed out of the Nigerian/Biafran matter which was not their business.

Mercenaries fought in both sides of the war, what won the war for Nigeria was the British warships which prevented Ojukwu from selling oil and bringing in food and ammunition. You think Gowon could have fought the war with Groundbut pyramids?

The Biafran army that went to the Midwest did that after Nigeria started war.

Ojukwu declared Biafra not war. Gowon was the person who declared war. Go and learn history

The propaganda report did not mention that a war resulted from the secession attempts by Biafra and that the Biafrans even attempted to venture into Nigeria?

It also avoids revealing that the millions who died are as a result of a failed Biafran state being unable to feed its own population during a war it was so boastful about at the onset, but depending on charities and the hope that such propaganda would illicit more sympathy and support from world powers.

The propaganda report also mentions 3million Biafran deaths, the revisionist figure just like the revised 50 thousand pogrom deaths manufactured to justify why secession was necessary when the war began to look like a wasted effort, but only confirm the irresponsibility of the Biafrans not having learnt anything about the futility of their schemes.

This cheap propaganda is only for the gaulible.

Did the report also state that Nigeria is a result of the illegal amalgamation of unconsenting indigenous ethnic nationalities without their consent?

Did the report state that Biafra was the direct result of breaking the confederal agreement the Government of Gowon signed in Ghana?

Did the report state that after Biafra was declared, Nigeria could have chosen other peaceful ways of resolving the dispute than rushing to war?

Finally

Did the report state that it is the inalienable right of man or a people to self determination?

Personally, I think that Britain is still ashamed of its role in the Biafran war saga. Britain should have stayed neutral. Instead, Britain supplied ammunition to Nigeria, discouraged other countries from recognising Biafra, blockaded the sea to prevent Ojukwu from bringing in food and ammunition. Britain won the war for Nigeria.

I don't believe the police killed her. I have look at the picture of the crowd. Not the police. It important to find the killer

The Nigerian security agencies were raining down bullets on unarmed protesters, the girl was running for her life along with others, but you think this is the time someone decided is a good time to go and kill her? Search Nairaland to know how many unarmed protesters have been killed in Onitsha alone since the uprising began.

The bloodsucking ibo coupist killed political and military leaders from other regions while sparing theirs. The ibos are guiltry of the first coup in Nigeria, they also lead us into a blood civil war

Interesting, the only thing that list shows is that in terms of killings, the Igbo are the only ones who show restraint. Igbos led you into a civil war? Wasn't it you Nigerians that came down to the east to start fighting while we were enjoying our new found independence?

Nobody likes to be a tenant forever, a times comes when everyone would like to build their own house. Somewhere they can call home. The Igbo man has felt like tenant in Nigeria for many years. Despite the so called "we are one Nigeria" "Nigeria is for us all" "we are first Nigeria before anything else". We are tired of Nigeria. Before Lugard came to bastardise us all with the name 'Nigeria' we all had our history and our sovereignty. The Yorubas were self Governing under the Oyo empire, the Hausa/Fulani were self Governing under the Sokoto caliphate. The Igbos were a very lose confederation of clans. It is interesting that these 3 major ethnic groups did not kill each other before Lugard, because they were not together. But since Lugard brought them together , they have killed each other in the millions. It's plane to see that all three groups should call it day and return to how they were before Lugard came, if there is to ever be peace

Tpave:

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has fixed Thursday, 17 December, 2015 to hear the bail applications of suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The eight suspects were arrested by the police in connection with the pro-Biafra protests in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, southern Nigeria.
They are standing trial on a two-count charge of treason, conspiring to wage war against the Federal Government and breach of public peace by unlawfully demonstrating and chanting war songs.
The presiding judge Justice Hassan Quadri adjourned the hearing of the bail applications of the accused persons to enable their lawyers effect proper service of court process of the bail applications on the police.
The court remanded the accused persons in prison custody pending the hearing and determination of their bail application.
Supporters of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had protested twice in Port Harcourt during which they disrupted social and economic activities in the oil-rich city.

It is now I see why the Nigerian judicial process takes a long time. The police just clog up the system with frivolous cases. How can chanting war songs be construed as waging war? How can peaceful protest be termed as treasonable? Nigeria still has a long long way to go

The Nigerian mentality is just too backward for the 21st century. Police just murdered an unarmed girl, instead of questioning why their police force did this, they blamed Kanu who is in jail. That is how they blame Ojukwu for the war even though they all know it is Gowon who came down to the east to fight. Nigerians never question who is doing the killing, they only question the person being killed

Uwazuruike is a disgrace to the Biafran struggle. No Igbo man worth his salt ever bows down to the Yoruba man or the northerners. Northerners have been killing Igbos since 1945, how many times have they apologised? Have they apologised for slaughtering over 50,000 Igbos in 1966? Have they apologised for all the churches they have burnt in the North? One mosque and a few Dangote trucks go up in flames and everyone is making noise. Uwazuruike is a lost man.
