Politics / Re: Imo State Guber: Rochas Okorocha Has Won! by nwaghana: 3:25pm On Apr 27, 2011
I don't really expect much from Okocha if he wins, but change is necessary. Let's experience his own form of evil. I know he is not as devilish as Ohakim; at least Rochas has respect for human dignity and is not arrogant.

One only need to go to the Imo government website at www.imostate.gov.ng to see how Ohakim is using the website for his selfish purpose, as if Rochas, Emeka, Adamma, Oluchi, Ikenna and everyone else are not from Imo state. Indeed Imo state is Ohakim and Ohakim is Imo state. Our money is his private money. Fashola is using the Lagos State website to publish state budgets, programmes and development agenda, while Ohakim is using Imo website to denigrate other people

Radio Nigeria mandate studio says only 10 out of the 21 LGAs in Imo State has been announced, and Rochas won in 7 and Ohakim won in 2. Fingers crossed! Ohakim may come up with his Abrakadabra and super-rigging formula.

I will put my celebration on hold, until I see the result on INEC website. Remember, INEC has a mind of its own
NYSC / Re: Petition To Withdraw Youth Corpers From Violent Northern Nigerian States. by nwaghana: 1:55am On Apr 23, 2011
If the government does not respect corpers, how do they expect almajeris to respect corpers? Think of the peanuts the government pay corpers. When I served in 2003, we were given 150 naira for bicycle allowance. Tell me, where on earth one could buy bicycle for 150 naira. The monthly allowance was laughable. I heard they have increased the monthly allowance to 9500 naira, but that is still rubbish compared to the 12 million naira monthly allowance the senators earn. Almajeris are obviously watching, and also take their turn on the 'worthless' corpers
NYSC / Re: Petition To Withdraw Youth Corpers From Violent Northern Nigerian States. by nwaghana: 1:42am On Apr 23, 2011
There is no doubt that NYSC was set up with good intents; to unite Nigeria through educated youths, who are sent out to learn about other cultures and languages. The services provided by NYSC members can not be overemphasized. There are scores of local governments in Nigeria that would not have doctors if the NYSC programme is discontinued. Many primary and secondary schools in Nigeria have the privilege of having university educated teachers, who come with diverse experiences. One can take a look at immunization programmes, elections, national census and so many community programmes to see the importance of NYSC

However, just like every Nigeria programme, the NYSC is not functioning as it should. The federal government needs to look into it and bring it back to its former glory. But before that is done, the NYSC programme needs to be suspended indefinitely until the government does the right thing. And if they feel it is better to neglect the NYSC and focus on rapidly filling their individual pockets, then the best alternative would be to scrap it.

After spending 6 years in the university for a 4 year course, the government sends innocent, promising young men and women to the North to be killed by almajeris in the name of NYSC. No, in fact it should be scrapped. When two almajeris quarrel over a piece of fish or a plate of food, they settle their differences with the head of a southern corper. God forbid!
Nairaland / General / Re: Fifa Why (samuel Eto) by nwaghana: 9:32pm On Apr 19, 2011
Eto'o is a great player, no doubt. He has been consistent over the years, but the World footballer of the year is awarded on a yearly basis and not based on footballing career achievements. Eto'o might be doing well say in year 2009, an another player say Mr MJ suddenly comes up that year and does better and loses form in 2010, but Mr MJ will be given the award based on year 2009.

Think of Jay Okocha and the African footballer of the Year. Jay Jay was nominated for African Footballer of the Year for several years, but never won it. For the same reason that players like Mustapha Hadji, Amunike, Ikpeba, Mboma, Diouf emerged
Politics / Re: The Unrest Is Over - North Pacified by nwaghana: 3:28pm On Apr 19, 2011
So much noise about the man 'Buhari'. Is this the way he was going to govern Nigeria? To send almajeris from one section of the country against law abiding citizens from another section of the country? Did the women and children who are being persecuted over there rig elections? Why are they setting church buildings on fire? were the elections rigged inside the churches? Don't people have freedom of conscience to vote who they like? It is obvious that almajeris are ignorant and don't have minds of their own, so it is not entirely their fault. It is the fault of Buhari. It is also the fault of Bakere who has not distanced himself from Buhari and his church-burning and blood-sucking almajeris

My cousin voted in a polling station in Cross River, stood there and the votes were counted, and only 3 people voted ACN everyone else voted for PDP

Same story with my sister in Anambra, where less than 6 people voted for parties other than PDP in her polling unit. I hate PDP, but Buhari should understand that no magic would have made him win in the South South and South East.

Buhari should stop instructing Almajeris to kill and main innocent Southerners in the North. Whether or not he accepts, the truth remains that those urchins he is grooming are destroying property in his name

The Youth Corp Members are always willing to give their best, be it at Election time, Census time, immunization time or through various other community development projects. But my question is: Why does Nigerian government repay good with evil? Why does a corper earn 9500 naira a month and a senator earn 12 million naira a month? Why did the government spend 86 billion naira on this election and paid corpers who did the job mere 7000 naira, which is barely enough for their transportation?

Politics / Re: Anambra central senatorial Election: Dora Akunyili (APGA) vs Chris Ngige of ACN by nwaghana: 11:58pm On Apr 10, 2011
As good as their names might sound, neither Ngige nor Akunyili deserve to be voted into any elective position. They are the wolves in sheep clothing that the holy book talked about. Today they appear to be ACN and APGA candidates, but they are die-hard PDP politicians. They have no political ideology, they switch parties to suit their needs. No one needs TB Joshua to tell them that Dora/Ngige will cross-carpet when s/he get to Abuja. They have been given enough opportunities to serve Nigeria. Ngige did his best, but his best was not good enough. Dora did good work as the NAFDAC boss, but like the lizard that ruined his mother's funeral, she turned around and soiled her good work with her disastrous outing as the information minister. Shame on both of them!! Either of them in Abuja is a loss of one more precious senate seat.

virgo:

Did I hear some of you say "revolution?".

At this point, we should understand the country we speak of. The idea is interesting because we have an unprecedented freedom as never before. But please with all due respect to my beloved country men, we are too freaking cowardly to have a revolution. Some people refused to come out to vote on Saturday from fear of being sent to early graves and you all think we can have a revolution. LOL!

Please let's all admit it, GEJ with all his faults has allowed us to grow wings. So as we fly, we should have the ability to look at what is truly on ground. Most of the warriors on NL will run away in the face of any drunk gun totting trigger happy policeman. It must be real fun to call for a revolution from the safety of their bedrooms. What a bunch of geniuses!

I think Nigeria’s revolution is best with the ink on the thumb. Nigeria couldn’t have asked for a better form of revolution.

On whether Nigerians are cowardly or not, I wouldn’t agree that Nigerians are cowardly. One might say the Tunisians, Egyptians and Libyans are brave, but where were they when their rulers ruled for 23, 30, 42 years respectively? Nigeria has never tolerated such thing (except under OBJ and his dictatorial tendency). Humans are unpredictable and groups are even more dynamically unpredictable. About 16 months ago CNN and BBC carried the news on Christmas day that a Nigerian s.u.i.c.i.d.e b.o.m.ber nearly blew up an aircraft, most people doubted if he was a Nigerian; reason being that Nigerians love their lives. Today, more idiots are making b.o.mb a regular story in Nigeria, even on Independence Day, electioneering campaigns and election days. One can only argue than Nigerians are not united enough to revolt for one cause, but things are changing, people are still ignorant, but more people are beginning to be less ignorant by looking beyond ethnicity

Politics / Re: Jonathan Has Shown He Can Be Trusted! So He Still Gets My Vote by nwaghana: 7:50pm On Apr 10, 2011
GEJ is not too bad as a person, but how can he surround himself with evil people and simply be their puppet. He dines with  Annenih, OBJ, Ojo Maduekwe, Madam Turai, Alameisiya, Ibori, Cecilia Ibru, Dimeji Bankole, etc. and expect they would let him do something meaningful for Nigeria. He made the same mistake by aligning himself with the same people when his was deputy governor and didn't achieve anything. He became governor of bayelsa and still instisted on keeping bad friends, today he can't point to any good thing he did for Bayelsa. He became vice president and still didn't learn from his mistake, and today he can't point to any thing he achieved that justify his remuneration as vice president. He became president and even added more evil men to the litany of his corrupt friends. My advice to him is, if by mistake he wins the Presidential election, he should do away with his bad friends and advisers. The fly wey no dey hear word, dey follow dead body enter ground!!

Goodluck Jonathan and Jega should be praised for spending 98 billion naira to organise election that disenfranchised so many people. Election where electorates' could not find their names in the voters registers. In four years time (2015) another 98 billion naira will be spent on another election and people will still shower the government and incompetent INEC with praises. When will people stop measuring things in Obasanjo's standard? Obasanjo set a standard that is only obtainable in hell fire. He ruined the country for eight years, and still wanted to amend the constitution to rule for another five years.

The only people that deserve praise are the NYSC members who are sacrificing their lives and their time and providing their invaluable knowledge and expertise.

OCCULTIST:

Anyone who do not see his or her name on the register it means he or she did not register, people should not come here and lie to us and beg us to blame to government. we are tired of blaming the government they have done us nothing rather government is doing more than their best,is people who refuse to do their part.

INEC itself has admitted severally that there are missing names in the register, and asked people to cooperate so their names will be available for the next election.

I'm a corper and I refused 2 participate in dis elections cos I knew , it wud b violent, I told most of my friends not participate in d elections, all of them said no, reason being that d pay is 2 small, how does the gov expect us 2 live on #9,735 in a month. now see what has happened 2 those corpers looking for more money 2 survive. The scheme should b scrapped embarassed angry

The immoral and criminal activities being carried out by Nigerian rulers and politicians is unspeakable.  They get hardship allowances, wardrobe allowances, transport allowances, travel allowances, sitting allowances, newspaper allowances, laughing allowances, sleeping allowances and all kinds of allowances totaling over 100 million naira a year; this is outside their wages and other side monies legally or illegally obtained. While a corper gets less than 10,000 naira a month and civil servants are still celebrating an increment of their minimum wage to 18,000 naira a month. This government has to go. They really have to.
