Politics / Re: Buhari Took Bank Loan To Purchase APC Nomination Form by obenze: 11:31am On Oct 19, 2014
Delafruita:
politics is an expensive business.men always have to be seperated from boys and its always about funds.during the democratic primaries of 2008,clinton and obama spent a combined 600million dollars.and that's the primaries alone.the republicans spent just a little less than than while its estimated barack obama's campaign gulped more than 500million dollars after the primaries.the largest contributors to those campaigns were the banks, hedge fund managers, silicon valley and the likes.in this era of PACs and super PACS,expect billions to be spent campaigning for a job that pays just 400,000 dollars per annum.that's right, barack obama spent nearly a billion dollars campaigning for a job that pays 400,000dollars.so its not always about recouping investment, its more about passion and desire.buhari has a desire to see a better country and he's willing to do whatever it takes to actualise it.it doesn't mean I will vote for him,but I can't but admire his sterling qualities

Onlytruth:
Generals should be evaluated on the basis of bravery in battle and superior military strategic and tactical thinking in defense of the country against FOREIGN enemies. To evaluate Nigerian Generals on the basis of their performance in the civil war is disingenious to say the least. In fact I would go a step further to say that the Biafran "Generals" are the ones to be so evalutated because they fought to defend Biafra against a foreign enemy -Nigeria. For as long as the Nigerians believed that they were fighting against fellow Nigerians in "Biafra", then how can one evaluate that?
I want to see Nigerian Generals evaluated on their performance against Cameroun in Bakassi. In that assessment, only one General could really be evaluated because he was the only one brave enough to even attempt a war with Cameroun. That General was General SANI ABACHA.

Since Baba OBJ is still a card carrying member of the PDP, I advice GEJ to go to Baba and ask for forgiveness himself. Not by sending senate president, David Mark. If it is to abuse APC and Amaechi, GEJ is ready to open his mouth and talk for 48 hours. GEJ is the one seeking to be re elected as the president of Naija and not David Mark. So GEJ should go himself

lanrexdo: I knew that there was going to be a clash over the presidency especially that Atiku. He has nothing meaningful to offer. You cant just come from no where and claim the Ticket. The reason the merger of CPC and ACN was successful was because acn had no presidential aspirant and cpc under GMB want to add to his own vote.. So you can't just come from no where and steal GMB's dream. I guess at the end of the day, Mr Atiku will port to another party because that is what he does. He wants the presidential ticket by fire by force. It should have been GMB that should have announced first for his presidential ambition not Atiku. They want to have unlimited power, fame and wealth. That is the highest they can ever attain when you become the president of country. They have both tasted power and know how it feels. they want to continue the large life of lawlessness. That is all i feel about this so call people who wants to be Nigeria Top Boss. The only person i have seen who has a dream for this country is GMB. The rest are just bunch of senseless people who wants nothing but power and loot our already damaged economy dry.

Orunto: The Book of Proverbs: When you go for a meeting to discuss and agree on common problems, don't attend with MOTIVES. Attend with clear conscience so that deliberations and resolutions will be objective, purposeful and acceptable to all. Ojukwu was the most aggrieved, the cunniest and the most determined to get a selfish desire other than one of unity and a purposeful plan for integrated development of Nigeria. Azikwe, Awolowo, the recently dead Emir of Kano, Aminu Kano, Mbakwe, Shagari etc were all around then, why was no one of them invited to Aburi? Recklessness made them all lose focus. And the way the Igbos are making their case now is not only reckless but greedy. They are also cunningly trying to drag the Southsouth with them to make their always selfish case. God bless Nigeria!!!

tonytony208: Mr Op and the first responder above me, your comments are pitiably shallow. Yeah, adekunle Benjamin might not have gotten oil blocs before he died. It is a pointer to the fact that Adekunle did not fight for selfish reasons to enrich himself; rather, he fought for nigeria to possess the oil that biafra was planning to steal by coaxing SS and calling them "brothers" (brothers my foot).
Adekunle was a dutiful soilder and he obeyed orders from his superiors like every well trained soilder should do. His unforgettable and well documented campaign against the boko haram-like rebellion called "biafra war" was in total submission to the directives of his superior. Adekunle was not like some thoughtless soilders, who took up arms to fight against authority and divide the nation for selfish and hypocritical reasons.

You flaathead biafrans should stop picking on this man. When you want to cry like defeated eediots, kindly make your ways to ojukwu's grave and whine and cry there. You can cry him a second river niger if you so desire. Ojukwu was the one that led your grandfathers into a war he knew you couldn't win and not Benjamin Adekunle. Ojukwu knew biafra didn't have the military hardware to win, yet he fooled your grandfathers into the war. He now spelt doom for biafra by asking the poorly trained biafran rebels to overrun Midwest. I learnt that your grandfathers were given matchets/cutlasses at a point during the war to confront nigerian soilders, who had bazookers, artilleries, jet fighters and whatnots. How was that Adekunle's fault? Abeg, you biafrans should stop playing the victim and seeking for pity. It is only the truly defeated that does such. You may not like this, but it is the truth: that you biafrans were not the victims of the biafran war; rather, you were the VILLAINS!!! You brought the war upon your own heads. So, leave Adekunle out of it.

Timzy234:

Nigerian Troops

Sunday, September 21, 2014, PR Nigeria revealed that military sources say that they have killed the man who has been posing as Abubakar Shekau in the Boko Haram propaganda videos.

New details continues to emerge on how the man widely believed to be Boko Haram’s leader was killed in battle in Kondunga.

A military commander told The Trent, “There is every indication that effect. We only want to conclude all scientific proof before being categorical.”

The Nigerian military had claimed last week that the battle victory at Konduga was ”strategic” and new information is beginning to confirm why.

The man, who has been named as Bashir Mohammed by Sahara Reporters, had been identified as an imposter by the Nigerian security agencies.

It is reported by Vanguard newspapers that Shekau, lost his life on Wednesday September 17, 2014 after walking into a trap set for him by Nigerian troops on Wednesday September 17, 2014.

Warning: The images in this story are of a graphic nature, viewer discretion is advised.

Nigerian troops on fighting back the first attack on Konduga in which they a hundred militants were killed in a battle that lasted seven hours and in which arms and ammunition were capture, had asked the terrorist commanders who were captured to inform Shekau that they (the terrorists) had in fact captured the town and he was free to storm the town for a victory celebration.

Shekau, unaware of the the trap, made his way to Konduga in a military tank with the Boko Haram insignia printed on it, the same which could be found in the background of his infamous propaganda videos.

The terrorist commander arrived the town with his followers heavily armed with Anti-Aircraft weapons, General Purpose Machine Guns, several AK 47 rifles and other IEDS, unaware that the message he got from his chief messenger was not authentic. On entering the town, his entourage walked into a circle of Nigerian soldiers. On trying to contact his courier, he found that something was amiss, he ordered his followers to start shooting in all directions, while he alighted from his tank and made to flee.

But, it was not to be as Army troops overpowered his members, spotted him has he made to escape and opened fire. He later bleed to death and photos showing the leader of the murderous sect were published on Linda Ikeji’s Blog last week. Though he was not identified at the time.

[quote author=donnypool]A military court sitting in Abuja on Monday found 13 out of the 18 soldiers standing trial for mutiny and other offences guilty.

Twelve of the convicted soldiers were sentenced to death, five were discharged and acquitted while the remaining one was jailed for 28 days with hard labour.

The soldiers had on May 14, 2014 fired shots at the General Officer Commanding the newly created 7 Division of Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Mohammmed, in Maiduguri.

The act is viewed in the military as mutiny.

Those discharged are David Robert, Mohammed Sani, Iseh Ubong, Sebastine Gwaba and Naaman Samuel.

Jeremiah Echocho was sentenced to 28 days with hard labour.

Those who were sentenced to death are Jasper Braidolor, David Musa, Friday Onuh, Yusuf Shuaibu, Igonmu Emmanuel, Andrew Ugbede, Nurudeen Ahmed, Ifeanyi Alukagba, Alao Samuel, Amadi Chukwuma, Alan Linus, and Stephen Clement.

They were found guilty of criminal conspiracy, mutiny, attempt to commit murder (shooting of the vehicle of the GOC); insubordination to a particular order; insubordination and false accusation.

The President of the Court Martial, Maj. Gen. C.C. Okonkwo, said the 12 soldiers were found guilty of three of the most heinous charges bars.

The legal team of the convicts pleaded with the court martial to temper justice with mercy.

The team reeled out pathetic stories about the family backgrounds of the convicted servicemen.

One was said to be the only son of his octogenarian widowed mother.

Another is the father of a five-month-old baby.

The defence team argued that giving them maximum sentence would do more harm than good, adding that it would increase the agony of their dependants.

The attack on the GOC and his men reportedly occurred when they visited the cantonment.

The Maimalari Cantonment is the headquarters of 7 Division, the newest Division of the Nigerian Army.

Military sources said that soldiers at the cantonment had been complaining of insufficient ammunition, food and allowances prior to the GOC’s visit.

They were also reportedly unhappy and their morale was at its lowest ebb because there had not been troop rotation for a long time since their deployment to combat Boko Haram terrorists in the North- East.

“The GOC’s visit coincided with the arrival of the corpses of soldiers killed in an ambush in Chibok on the night of May 13, 2014.

“The apparently agitated soldiers, on sighting the corpses of their slain colleagues became hysteric. Some opened fire on the GOC, who was lucky to have escaped unhurt. However, the bullets hit and seriously injured some of his bodyguards, who also fled to safety,” the source said.

seunlayi: mutiny / rebel / disloyalty etc are never welcomed in the military in any part of the world hence the high standard military are known for worldwide. The consequence of this action is no longer new since the time of old. Therefore, the judgement is normal in the military, but i hope that the fg will display some maturity has we are all aware of the prevailing circumstances that led to that incident so that they will be pardon soon
