This thread has been spreading like wild fire, springing up controversies. I personaly believe in SELF IMPROVEMENT! @ dargly u ve said well, and it is highly appreciated. @ Nairaland, WILL YOU BE HAPPY TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL AND HEAR HIM/HER MURDER ENGLISH IN PUBLIC? I guess u will cover ur face in shame n be dissapointed. @TBADMUS Success does not lie in monetary terms. I also graduated as the best student in my FACULTY, and i am very comfortable with both spoken and written english. Some of us value modesty and self honour than too much money and been a diffident. It is good to be a consumated man! @ Nairaland I believe dargly is not trying to white-wash anyone. But the trend of flagrant and brazen GRAMMATICAL ERRORS from our today graduates is KILLING!. Most dont master their tenses, some dont know how to use gender pronouns. "HABA"! Let us really wake up from our slumber and be TOTAL MEN n WOMEN! Love you all. |

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Access Bank Interview: 21 March 2007 (5pm) by ogs(m): 8:48am On Mar 21, 2007 |
[b]@ sweetsjoy, Firstly, i will say CONGRATULATIONS for passing NLNG test (first stage). Secondly, all the best in the second stage! I would ve appreciated it the more if u read IN BETWEEN THE LINES! I did make mention of a REASONABLE RANGE in my 2nd post, and not a FIXED AMOUNT my dear! I ve counselled several people on job search, cv writing and even interviews. I got my first job while still serving, and i am still moving on by GOD'S GRACE. To be candid with you, i can tell a range of what Banks pay in Nigeria, even the likes of UBA, Stanchat and First bank (i hope u know the similarities between these banks),.Also what the big boys like STANBIC, OCEANIC, ETB, INTERCONTL, CITIBANK, and even WEMA's new salary structure. My source tells me ACCESS BANK pays 1.8million per annum, but a take home pay of about 82,000 naira (I hope u will find this useful when u r called for interview) The reason i asked the question, is if the interview is worth going for? Ur response of FIRST PASS AND THEN START ASKING HOW MUCH THEY PAY, sounds like been a pessimist! I am a very OPTIMISTIC PERSON, and i dont let such comments pass. The interviewer will as a matter of essence ask what pay u expect! So, why should u tell me to pass FIRST, before giving an answer to a supposed examination that i would ve gone thru. WAKE UP FRIEND! U can check all my post on nairaland (eg Nairalanders please sell urselves, Gatecrashers are dumb, 2:1 vs 2:2 saga etc), and i can confidently tell u that about 90% of it is STRICTLY FIGHTING PESSIMISTIC UTTERANCES. Love u sweetsjoy, just trying to help NAIRALANDERS shapen some attitude. Sorry if u r upset, but u really shd take people's personality in view while responding/ writing. to them. @tipsydude, Thanks. @ hollybaba, I wrote mine on the 9th, and cant be too sure which test date they are calling. It might be a general call. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Pricewater House Inviting by ogs(m): 3:58pm On Mar 20, 2007 |
@larrymo, As long as u r sure the call was from PWC, calling them back will not be an issue. In the corporate world, it shows ur resilence to succeed. Every individual is a BRAND! It is what u make of ur brand that it will be! CHEERS! |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Access Bank Interview: 21 March 2007 (5pm) by ogs(m): 3:48pm On Mar 20, 2007 |
@ sweetsjoy, This is just an advice. If you dont ve the answer to a question, do not reply. It makes u sound otherwise. It is obvious u ve never attended an interview, a career seminar, or even read a book on interviews! Please, work on yourself - THIS IS THE WHOLE ESSENCE OF NAIRALAND (become a BETTER person) For you information, I PRESENTLY HAVE A JOB, i just want to MOVE UP AHEAD . In interviews they ask you what PAY PACKAGE u expect. It is decent enough to have a reasonable range so as not to fall out. @SWEETSJOY, I wish you all the best in life! |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Pricewater House Inviting by ogs(m): 3:09pm On Mar 20, 2007 |
@ larrymo, here is PWC's number: Tel: [+234] (1) 2711700, 2703101. I didn't expect you to ask me for the number, cos i believe the INTERNET u r using is a world of INFORMATION. Take care! |

@ Hollandis, This is my second post on this topic. I hope you ve learnt one on two lessons. Not all Nigerian youths believe in the godfatherism theory. ALL THE BEST IN YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVOURS! It just burns my heart to hear people think less of themselves. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Info On Oceanic Bank Test( Urgent Pls!) by ogs(m): 2:53pm On Mar 15, 2007 |
@ stellose, having the supposed question is ni big deal for success. You stillve interviews to attend you know? Anyway, be careful of ur utterances. This statement might cause OCEANIC to change their QUESTIONS, if they ve not already. ALL THE BEST. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: First Bank Only Shortlisted 2-1 Girls by ogs(m): 7:36am On Mar 15, 2007 |
@ Hollandis, with attitudes like this, you might end up not been successful. Not everyone is a cynic or practice cryonism. U ve to maintain a positive attitude towards life. Sometime in 2006, i applied at zenith bank for myself and 3 of my friends. All were invited for the test but me. A year after (2007 jan.) Zenith then invited me. Be patient and maintain a positive ATTITUDE! All the best in life. |

@ dargly, That was a GREAT one! I am quite impressed at you level of profundity. There is no need to cudgel the laxity and tyro attitude exhibited by our "graduates" on NAIRALAND. For God's sake, NAIRALAND IS A WEBSITE - meaning it can be viewed all over the world. Let us represent Nigeria and its educational system appropriately. I speak good english, but i just found out i need to write professionally cause i work with a financial service firms that sell INTELLECTUAL MATERIALS. I have resorted to BRIGHTER GRAMMER and i was sent on BUSINESS WRITING SKILLS TRAINING organised by DALE & PARKER. We understand English is not our lingua franca, but we have been instructed in it all our educational life! Competition is very stiff out there, and only the fitest CAN SURVIVE! My fellow NAIRALANDERS, let us work on ourselves and remain the envy on employers. CHEERS. |

Jobs/Vacancies / Maersk M.i.s.e Test Clashes With Lng Test ! by ogs(m): 7:41am On Feb 28, 2007 |
Fellow Nairalanders, Maersk M.I.S.E. test and LNG test that we all have been waiting for are slated for the same day. I just got my Maersk text while doing my road work yesterday n immediately my morale went down and i just went home straightaway. WHAT DO WE DO? PLS ADVICE THE FORUM. This is my own opinion: A s for MISE, we will benefit on the long run, but as per LNG, the rewards are immediate. Hmmmm, |
Religion / Re: Kissing and Romancing: Part of Fornication? by ogs(m): 7:55am On Feb 22, 2007 |
SOME THINGS ARE SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED! Some of u folks ve not really had an encounter, that is why u talk like this. I used to be a KINGPIN in dating women and all those stuffs, until i met JESUS. Since then it has been a different ball game. " THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IS FOOLISHNESS UNTO THEM" R u trying to make this word come to pass or what? Nairalanders dont think i am a "BUSH BOY", I was bred in Lagos, never went to a PUBLIC SCHOOL and a top scholar from UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN. This is just to drive home the fact that the topic up fro discussion is a sin! QED. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Anyone With An Idea Of Agusto Test Format by ogs(m): 9:33pm On Jan 18, 2007 |
As for the Agusto test format, it ios a 3 hours test. Basically simple mathematics, NO CALCULATORS and a whole deal of COMPREHENSION. Just be open minded. Basic mathematics, logical reasoning and comparisons. Hope to see u there. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Do Not Ignore This Option by ogs(m): 10:16am On Jan 15, 2007 |
Hello NAIRALANDERS! My fear for us members of this forum is that we all want the FIRE BRIGADE APPROACH. This approach has failed the last generation of Nigerians and we are treading the same PATH. I FEAR OH! About a month ago i posted a caption tittled ' APTITUDE TEST FORMAT, POST YOURS'. I gave the formats and the questions of about 7 test i ve undergone, but only a few responded to this CLARION call. Do not think the call was for me, i am a corp member OF THE CURRENT BATCH A and i already ve a job courtesy nairaland and the test and interview i went through. I am presently working with the firm which is renowned in the nigerian financial sector as one of the best financial analyst providers! IT PAINS ME TO KNOW THAT WE ONLY CARE ABOUT OURSELVES ! At times i ask this question: IS THIS REALLY A FAMILY? We all ve friends and colleagues whose destinies are tied t our response, we should learn to be ALTRUISTIC in nature. As for me getting a job is not my problem, i just want to better the lot of others so we all could be HAPPY as one BIG FAMILY. Love ogs. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Aptitude Test Samples ! Post Yours. by ogs(m): 11:52am On Dec 01, 2006 |
Dear Nairalanders , i am of the opinion that some of us have written more than one test. Why not let us come over to this thread and give a hint about the nature of such tests to help others who might be taking it some time in future. Here is my OWN CONTRIBUTION: 1. GTBank: 25 MINUTES. Learn how to work without calculators, study abstract reasoning that has to do with SHAPES n FIGURES. 2. INTERCONTINENTAL BANK: 1 HOUR 30MINUTES. Simple mathematics with the use of calculators, learn word solving problems, sentence corrections, anonyms and synonyms, i.e. improve your vocab. GMAT 2006 sold locally would do u a lot of GOOD! 3. AGUSTO & CO. LIMITED: 3 HOURS! No calculators, ABOUT 3 comprehension passages, simple mathematics. 4. OCEANIC BANK: A grasp of business skills will do you a lot of good. Things like G8 countries, and basic economics and finance. 5. kPMG: Current affairs like, who is the current OPEC PRESIDENT, new tourism n culture minister, europe's best goalkeeper for 2006, Minister for finance, AU chairman,G8, minister for science n technology. Essays like: write about a current national issue you feel strongly about, what will u be in the next 25 years and hoe u hope to get there, if u were the president of nigeria how would u curb corruption. Then some mathematics, logical reasoning (Just make sure u ve a pictorial diagram for this question before u start) I hope this will do for now. ALL THE BEST FELLOW NAIRALANDERS n take care. With GOD we shall all be satisfied. AMEN ! i ve written all these tests before so i ve been there, take a cue. I GOT MY JOB FROM NAIRALAND. This is my own little way of saying thank you. I work with one of the companies listed above. 1 Like |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Abound Careers, Phone Interviews And Job Postings by ogs(m): 5:53pm On Nov 30, 2006 |
The little i know about phone interview is this: 1. Always learn how to answer you phone calls politely 2. Don't let anxiety or excitment get hold of you on the phone 3. As soon as you know it is the interviewer, be well comported and move away from the crowd, noise or even TV to a quiet place. 3. Use pardon or words in its category, and not ehn! when in doubt of what ur interviewer has said. ALL THE BEST ! |

I ve taken about 10 aptitude tes :ot and only succeded in passing just one of it of which i ended up getting the JOB, despite my strong accademical background(Dont ask for my class of grade o!, but it is something anyone would desire anyway ). My question is why the failure? is it that i dont ve the required aptitude for thosse jobs? Some of my friendss that passed the other ones failed this one that i passed. Fellow nairalanders, let us ponder over this. CHEERS. |
