Travel / Advice Needed As To Whether To Fly Egypt Air To Nigeria? by oilyngbati3(m): 4:41pm On Jul 15, 2014
Hello and greeting to fellow nairalanders, please I urgently need you guys' help and advice here as I'm stuck in a dilemma. I need to attend my cousin's wedding in Nigeria this August and for someone who lives abroad, it's a nightmare getting a cheap ticket to travel in the summer, as most schools are closed for the summer break and students are travelling overseas with their parents for the break. This has made airline ticket prices to balloon well-up the "sky".

I promised my cousin that I'd be in his wedding as the MC, because he went out of his way to attend my wedding last two years in Nigeria. He came all the way from Hong Kong for mine which was held also in the peak of the summer month of August, 2012. Current airline ticket from the city I live in the USA to Nigeria is averaging around $1869.78 and I have a budget of $1200 for ticket. I called my cousin and told him that I can't make it and I would like to send him the $1200 (reserved for my air ticket as gift), but he rejected it and said my presence as the MC is worth more than the gift and if I don't show up, he will get mad with me.

Now my dear nairalnders, here is the main problem: My cousin's would-be wife works with Egypt air and she has secured a flight from Boston-USA to Lagos-Nigeria with this airline for $858.32, using her influence and I've vowed not fly any Islamic airline going by their penchant for suicide attacks. I explained this to my cousin and even told him the Jan/Feb 2002 Egypt airline crash off the coast of New York and investigation revealed that it's was a deliberate act by the Egyptian pilot, who was sympathetic to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

All these explanation fell on my cousin's "deaf ear" as he didn't see reason with. Should I tell him off and go my separate ways or should I pray to God and take the Egypt airline to Nigeria?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I agree only with the bolded. Edwin Clark, Tinubu and Buhari command followings only in their respective zones. Ndigbo don't have a strong voice YET, because we don't have a media. Not having this media has made it hard for us to expose the criminal leaders we have amongst us. Criminals like Peter Obi, Orji and co. But nwanna, we the youths must find a way to chase these criminals out Igboland, by mounting the leadership saddle.

haka_nai: Crap !!! I think this is meant to mis-lead. We are better off with the Yorubas anyday anytime. You can't compare the Igbo hate with the Yoruba neutral nature.
Secondly It is more better doing business anyday anytime with the Yorubas than the Igbos!!! I for one respect and prefer the Yorubas. They share far more complexity of there society like the North. As such if we pick a leaf from them we are fine and could fix the faults amongst our mix society.
What can you get from the east,Fraudulent business?Greed folks or North-phobic kings?
Yorubas have better morals and community that is cherished even in the north.I stand with the Yorubas and see nothing to share with the Igbos.
I fear being infected with there greed and arrogance.Even the OP is being silly and myopic suggesting as if all the Hausas are dumb.Which is typical of an ethnocentric Igbo man.Pride will destroy them. cool cool cool
Good, will also support disintegration of nigeria, or better still, support the idea for Igbo to leave nigeria and form their nation, so yorubas and north can remain happily ever after?

Crayola1:

Then you need leaders that are worth having. But the question who is benefiting when those conditions are met? Is it the elite or the ordinary people?

I think Igbo people should shelve the Presidency and work on building up their states, build up a good roster and support the presidents with their interest at heart. Do that for a while and then concern yourselves with the presidency. You don't want a buffoon for a president that is Igbo.
Gbam! As long as GEJ will protect Igbo interests, then he has our support. Do these battymen expect us to support the alqaeda peoples congress (APC), a terrorist party. The only way we gonna support APC, is if they field an Igbo as their candidate. grin

Aigbofa: The road to Aso rock for any aspiring Igbo is by building alliances with other major ethnic groups in Nigeria.
You cannot do it by blackmail or with one foot in Biafra and the other in Nigeria.
GEJ does not have the power to unilaterally hand over to anyone.
Can you also remind us on how Yorubas didn't blackmail us all when MKO was killed by having one foot in Odua and the other in nigeria? You must also remember that for the 1st time in nigeria's history, nigeria had two contestants from thesame ethnic stock...so speak the truth and shame the devil.
Politics / Six Killed As Fulani Herdsmen Attack Plateau Village by oilyngbati3(m): 5:06pm On Jun 04, 2013
Six killed in renewed violence in Plateau

04 June, 2013

At least six people were confirmed killed yesterday in renewed violence in Plateau State.
The incident, which occurred in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state have forced residents of Gwande in Manguna district to flee their homes following the invasion of their community by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

Our correspondent gathered that about 100 gunmen had invaded the community on reprisal attack following the killing of two Fulani herdsmen, who were among the six attacked in the community yesterday.
The invaders were also said to have burnt two houses after killing two of the inhabitants. The gunmen were said to have succeeded in attacking a house and killing two people before the villagers launched a counter attack.
It was also gathered that one of those killed was the leader of the invaders, an action that angered them, spurring them for revenge. However, the attackers were said to have been repelled as a combined team of operatives of the Special Task Force, forced them to beat a retreat.
But the villagers were said to have succeeded in killing two more, bringing the number of casualties to six.
A former councillor representing the area, Mr. Arut Bulus, told our correspondent yesterday that the attackers went back on Sunday night to revenge the killing of their key member.
Bulus said the villagers have abandoned their homes for fear of further attack.
Spokesman of the Special Task Force, Capt. Salisu Mustapha, who confirmed the development in Jos yesterday, said that STF had received distress calls and immediately responded.
He said, “The sector commander has been alerted and right now, he has mobilsed his men to beat back the invaders.”
He did not, however, confirm if any arrests were made. Also confirming the incident, a member representing Bokkos state constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Titus Ayuba Alams, told journalists yesterday on telephone that four people were killed during the attack.
According to him, both the indigenes and the Fulani herdsmen has deserted the village for fear of the unknown while appealing to STF to send more troops to prevent further break down of law and order in the area.
Meanwhile, relief materials donated to the Plateau State government meant for the victims of the 2012 flood in the state has been gutted by fire. Items razed in the mysterious inferno included food items and house-hold accessories.
The incidence, according to our correspondent, happened in Jos North Local Government Area of the state. Confirming the incident in Jos, the Executive Secretary of the Plateau Emergency
