[absolutely right. But this is my view they personally do that either to continue importing it to fetch them more money but since the new sheriff said no they make it work, president is the head of cabal quote author=themanderon post=133574235]
You raised the point which many of my fellow countrymen failed to raise. I have always thought about this. How come are the refineries suddenly coming to life after the price of petroleum products was astronomically raised? Does it mean they deliberately grounded it till they got what they wanted? The Nigerian government is perpetually in a state of war against its citizens. The lies they tell and the robberies they commit against the people of Nigeria is unimaginable. I am not at all carried away with all the noise about the refineries coming to life. It simply means some interests deliberately sabotaged them in the first place.[/quote] |
Politics / Re: Falana: Why Yar’adua Cancelled Sale Of Port Harcourt Refinery To Dangote by olarent: 11:26am On Jan 04 |
In the best interests?2days to end its tenure common please think, it's personal interest professorPABX:
OBJ doesn't need to say anything because majority of Nigerians know he acted in the best interest of Nigerians as at that time. Those that made fortune from NNPC and staff Unions such as NUPENG, PENGASSAN will always defend their cash cow because once privatized no huge legal services money again to those Law Firms providing services to NNPC, no jumbo salary and allowances again. Then finally, About 90% of the staff would be sacked.
I am not a Lawyer but Late Professor Ben Nwabueze while Yaradua was on life support in Saudi Arabia had explicitly analyzed the Power of President and that of the Vice President in Presidential System of Government. He quoted portions of Nigeria Constitution that give the President overall powers and responsibilities over all the areas assigned to Vice President. Falana was alive when Professor Ben Nwabueze was interpreting those sections. Aondoakaa was the Minister of Justice.
Under Buhari, there are Constitutional assignments given to Vice President but was withdrawn from Osinbajo. The First thing Tinubu did on assumption of office is to return those duties to the Vice President Shettima. While those Constitutional duties were removed from Osinbajo a Senior Advocate of Nigeria what stops Falana from going to Court to challenge the powers of the President?
How can PENGASSAN says the shares of $750 million is worth $5billion? When NITEL value was over estimated and uninformed Nigerians and Lawyers providing legal services and making huge money from NITEL were making noises, I said they should allow NITEL Staff Unions and those Lawyers bring their preferred bidder(s). They don't want government to sell it , they cannot operate efficiently, they want government to continue to pump money while they collect salary and pay Lawyers huge legal services money.
You placed value on what is operating at loss and highly indebted. Those Refineries were even overvalued at $750 million for both Portharcourt and Kaduna Refineries as at that time.
NNPC and Tinubu will transfer the management to Private investors again. |

Properties / Re: Can ₦50 Million Build A Modern 3-Bedroom Bungalow With This Current Inflation? by olarent: 9:21pm On Jan 02 |
You are wrong sir. Bedroom we take 2700-3000 block each block 9inch is 600 why 6 inch is 500 muitiply it time 3000 quantity for block that is 1.8 only cement is 10k now and he will need more than 200bags for laying and plastering let say 250 because of septic that is 2.5m,iron rod is 12 for 12mm and 22 for 16mm let say 12mm if it's not a water log, bro don't deceive ur aluminium window we take nothing less than 1m depend on taste, burglary we take over 500k,doors,sand filling, tiles, borehole budget 25 to 30k.Am doing room and parlour self contain for 3 ap kings59: 15 Million will do that perfectly well.
A man in my area used 12 million to build a good bungalow, more beautiful than the one OP attached to his photo.
All those crazy people shouting 50M are thieves. Buy the materials yourself and don't allow the engineer to do it.
I would have shown a photo, but the man wouldn't like to see his house online because he is a Military person.
Make una just dey mumu for nairaland. Learn and stop arguing and quoting me.
We are talking about Three bedrooms here and not 5 bedrooms.
If a trip of sand is 180k, filling 3 rooms a parlor and a kitchen and bathrooms would take let's say 6 tippers of sand = 1.8 M
Then the rods should take 2.5M for foundation.
Casting it + cement + granite should be 4 M
Blocks can be 800k
The ceiling and roofing should be 2.5M since it's 3 bedroom
Windows and doors should be 1.5M ( 3 doors 3 rooms, kitchen, and toilet and bathroom + entrance) making 6 doors= 600k windows and the rest 600k Workmanship 1.5M
Is the building not set already?
The OP never specifies internal decoration, just building.
No wonder many people fail exams. |

A well balance analysis from you, also I notice that the guy already form impressions that what he did is good and that is why he appraise those that their contributions match is own. iamisibor: There is absolutely nothing wrong with your friend telling your girlfriend to sweep. Was he suppose to sweep while your girlfriend is around?
You and your friend exist before your gf. I don't know how you guys relate. Any one I can share an apartment with is not just a friend but a brother.
I noticed you are quick to throw insult from your response to the first two people that commented. Control your emotions; with no disrespect I feel this is the new trend with GenZ and Alpha GenZ because una never see life. GenZ and AlphaGenZ throw insults and react recklessly in the name of been woke. You wan impress your babe? The same babe you are fighting for and throwing insult on people for can leave you the next minute for another man. How would you see yourself when that happens? Embarrassing right?
For the people saying woman shouldn't be his focus, sometimes you can't attract the right woman after you make it. You can't even tell who is real and who is fake. Also be reminded not to carry woman for head make sure you balance your emotions and don't get carried away.
Talk to your friend and make peace. Let him know you are sorry you allowed your emotions take over you. Move on from the issue and again don't let woman come between you and your friend. Women are very important but also very unpredictable. Apply wisdom be diplomatic in all your doings. Stay safe, don't take harsh decisions and be wise. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Their is nothing wrong in asking ur friend girl to do such, the way she was asked to do it is was what will suppose to analyse. dominique:
Too bad you had to learn the hard way that nairaland romance section is filled with bitter, toxic men who do not only bring women down, they also do same to men who have a little bit of stability in their lives. Ignore the losers and focus on the few sound advice given. Your friend had no rights to ask your girlfriend to sweep. He is not only disrespecting you and belittling her, he is also testing the grounds to see how low she can bend. Now that she has obliged, don't be shocked if he asks her to wash his clothes or go to the market, buy foodstuffs and cook. If you and your girlfriend know you will not be able to stand up to him, I suggest your girlfriend should stop coming to your room till you make alternate accomodation arrangements. |

You are among the fortunate sir, this economy has erronded the purchasing power and is affecting income seriously. I started work age 28 seven years ago now 36 but thank God in my own house 2years ago and doing another for rent with annual income of 750k yearly once complete, a meagre of 800k in pension. AfahaAbia:
There is no formula in all this you said up there. You can save millions today, a terrible emergency can take it all tomorrow. For me with over 15 years experience working I would advise any young person today not to focus on savings alone but to invest as much as possible from your 20s and beyond. Try to also keep money in your pension account(another way of investing for retirement)even if you have contributions made by your employer already. I personally have over 100million naira(which will still increase as time goes on)in my pension account which I can not access till I'm in my 50s.. All im saying is thàt invest more than save. 1 Like |

Great teaching idahme:
This is good only when the exchange rates are stable for the period of one year but if they aren't that's a big loss in the purchasing power. I thought about this last year by converting USD to naira and then buying treasury bills then on a second note I did the calculations assuming the dollar to naira rate increases what then happens to my investment that scenario made me to hold my break.
Between that time and this month Naira has lost over 70% of its value meaning my USD has gained over 70% in naira equivalence but I would have only gained 15 to 20 % in treasury bills investment while loosing (70-20)% in the value of my money if left in USD.
Treasury bills is only great when exchange rates is constant and inflation is single digits. For a volatile economy like Nigeria I won't try it at present. 2 Likes |
