The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has said that a former Aviation Minister and Senator representing Anambra North, Stella Oduah does not have an NYSC certificate.

In a reply to the request by the Concerned Anambra North Peoples Democratic Party Stakeholders, seeking to validate the claim by the Senator that she lost her NYSC certificate, the Director-General of the service said that even though Oduah was mobilized for national service in 1982/83 service year and was deployed to Lagos State, she absconded after the orientation and never completed the service.

“The consequence of this is that she is not qualified for the issuance of the certificate of national service,” the DG wrote in the letter that was signed on his behalf by Eddy Megwa.

The letter, dated May 24, 2022, with reference number NYSC/DHQ/PPRU/783/ VILIII, was obtained by our correspondent.
Recall that in 2014, Oduah was deposed to an affidavit and obtained a police extract where she stated that sometime in 2010 while in transit from Akili in Ogboru LGA, Anambra State to Abuja she discovered that some of her personal belongings were missing.

The affidavit, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent reads in part, “That sometime in 2010 while in transit from Akili Ozizor in Ogbaru LGA t Abuja I discovered that my personal belongings were missing.
That the missing documents are the originals of my West African School Certificate of 1978 from Zixton Secondary School Ozubulu, First School Leaving Certificate from St. John Odoakpu Onitsha, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Certificate 1982 from St Paul’s College Lawrenceville Virginia USA, National Youth Service Corps Certificate 1983, National Identity Card, United States of America Social Security Card with the number on it.“That all efforts are to trace the missing documents proved abortive.”

Recall also that Concerned Anambra North Peoples Democratic Party Stakeholders had written the NYSC’s Director-General to issue them with a certified true copy of the certificate of national service with the Youth Service Corps issued to Stella Oduah in 1982/83.

The NYSC has by the letter confirmed that Oduah served as minister in breach of the nation’s extant law barring anyone who fails to do the national service after acquiring the necessary educational level should not be employed by the government and should also not be allowed to hold public offices.

A former Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha has attacked the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his 2023 Presidential ambition.

Okorocha, during an interview on a popular Lagos based TV, disclosed that Tinubu was in ‘Distress’ adding that he was acting like the 2023 presidency should be given to him as ‘a reward’.

In his words; “I think it’s just natural, and that everybody should know, and I don’t know what’s behind the mind of Tinubu but I respect him a lot, but I think Tinubu is in distress because he feels that it’s a time to compensate him on the basis of the role he played in the formation of APC which some of us were part of it,” he said.

The controversial politician added that the 2023 presidency should be zoned to the South-East.

“He [Tinubu] believed that he has made people and this is the time people should allow him or make him or something. More like a reward system. But more than that, we are talking about the nation called Nigeria. We have to have a nation first before personal and individual sentiments will come into play,”

Okorocha made headlines on Tuesday afternoon after his Maitama home was beseiged by officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The serving senator raised alarm adding that the anti-graft commission was holding him ‘hostage’ in order to stop him from participating in the APC presidential screening exercise.

Friends are demanding justice for a South African woman who was killed while trying to leave her allegedly abusive boyfriend.

Singwa Namhla Mtwa, 34, suffered abuse for years in the hands of her long term boyfriend Major Mfesane Bhekezu, friends say.

In one incident, she was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend with a leather belt for 8 hours. She decided to leave the toxic relationship but was shot 9 times in the driveway at her home, in April 21, 2022.

Though her boyfriend has not been charged for her murder, Twitter users suggest he might have a hand in her death but they alleged no one wants to do anything about it because he is “untouchable” and a very connected businessman.

The sister of the deceased, Snags Nozintathu Mtwa who has been agitating for the investigation to the killing, cried out she has been threatened to stop. She however disclosed the late Nahmla had reported to the police about the serial abuse but they did not came to her rescue until she was shot dead because the boyfriend is connected to powerful figures in the ruling party, ANC.

A South African pastor has been slammed online for proposing to his girlfriend at her father’s funeral.

In a video shared on TikTok by M.Mojela, he can be seen getting down on one knee as he asked his sobbing partner to marry him during the ceremony in Limpopo province, South Africa.

Nigerians are curious of how the ruling party that campaigned on for fighting corruption in the general elctions in 2019 could allow a convicted felon in USA, Dapo Abiodun to be fielded as her gubernatorial election in Ogun state.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun was jailed in 1986 for credit card fraud in Miami Dade Florida, USA.

The governor was said to have used a pseudo name (Shawn Michael Davids) with the aim of concealing his criminal identity.

The record revealed that Dapo Abiodun was jailed for committing criminal offences which bordered on credit card fraud, petty theft and check forgery.

He was arrested on November 7, 1986, for fighting and injuring a police officer in an attempt to resist arrest.

While being processed at the station, his fingerprint was run through the crime database and it was discovered that the Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun being processed for detention was the same as Shawn Michael Davids.

His criminal record and history were thus cemented and he was jailed. Abiodun’s jail number was 8600B9436.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service made the announcement late Sunday, adding that rescue operations have begun.

The announcement read, “An alert of a collapse of a three storey building by 32 Ibadan Street, Ebute Meta was received at 21:48 hours, Sunday with Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service already at the scene.

“Search and Rescue ongoing with updates to follow, please.”

Many residents are trapped after a three-storey building collapsed on Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta, Lagos State.

The building collapsed this evening, May 1.

A physically challenged lady simply known as Devotha has built her mother a house years after being abandoned by her dad.

The lady who spoke with Afrimax, said she was able to build the house with her technical knowledge and money she made from doing menial jobs.

Devotha was born in 1999 with her feet facing backwards, a disability which affected her childhood and even adult life, but she decided not to give up against all odds.

Before being rejected by her father, people from the community were already making her a subject of mockery.

But it was her dad’s own that broke her heart because he abandoned her with his wife and moved elsewhere to start a new family.

It was gathered that due to financial constraints, she couldn’t continue her education. However, that was not the end for her as the village priest enrolled her in a technical school where she acquired knowledge in construction.

Davotha’s mum who revealed that the lady spent 8years building the house, described her as ‘my hero’.

Oba Adeyemi has served as Alaafin of Oyo for 52 years, making him the longest-reigning Alaafin.
