Pastor Felix Awotula with Redeemed Christian Church of God says he fielded calls at his church throughout the day.

Oniro oshi. Who and who were calling him?

^^^

Another unlearned rant. Where in my writings have you read anything about tithes?

What does the topic have to do with tithing??
Religion / Re: Should A Pastor Be Paid A Regular Month Salary? by omofat: 2:59pm On May 03, 2013
vowiski:

A pay or compensation package is not the same as a salary.
Paul wrote these words to, Timothy, in 1 Timothy 5:17-18: “The elders who are good leaders should be considered worthy of an ample honorarium, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, (Deuteronomy 25:4,) ‘Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain and, the worker is worthy of his wages’”

Don't get me wrong, Pastors, and Elders are entitled to wages and money but not salaries.

And this money can never be from tithe.

So the money is not for pastors only. The terms “elder, “overseer,” and “pastor” are used interchangeably in the New Testament to refer to the same office or leadership position in the church (Acts 20:17, 28; Titus 1:5, 7; 1 Pet. 5:1-4)

I hope, I answered your question.

You sound a little confused. What does it matter what you choose to call whoever is dedicated to the specific ministry of preaching the word and caring for the saints? Yes the money is not only for the pastors! It is for whoever does the work.

Don't get me wrong, Pastors, and Elders are entitled to wages and money but not salaries.

Upon the above quote from you, I shall cease responding to you now, before I go mad with bafflement.

Oohrhii: A very interesting topic.

I also do not believe pastors are supposed to be paid for the calling they said they voluntarily accepted. Its just plain pathetic what church has turned to these days. The more critically and objectively i look at it ..the more i understand this parable in the bible that "From those who do not have we shall take and give to those who have" Pastors wearing expensive suits and serious leather shoes while the members are living in debt and poverty.

They tend to claim the tithe that they are not entitled to. Something that even Jesus does not support..but ofcourse we all know the malachi page which they keep refering to.

And please Why are they now calling themselves Man of God instead of Servant of God. The former seem to be the trend these days while the latter is going extinct.these so called Pastors rearly call themselves Servants Of God anymore..

Jesus already said it all.. YOU SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH SHALL >>>SET YOU FREE!

There was a time that i fell victim too...to these so called pastors..and self imposted bishop or General Overseer title, now am wiser..

God dey!

Sadly, that's the problem. People like you look at the quite few miscreants who I have to admit do a horribly bad job and desecrate the office. The problem is you then tar everyone else with the same unfortunate brush. You do realise that not all pastors fly private jets right? You can argue that maybe even those who don't yet have jets also aspire to own them but that's topic for another day.

The reality is that there are very very very many humble, sincere, faithful pastors, elders, shepherds, whatever who do the work with focus and simpleness of heart. Those are the ones to which I refer to in any of my postings.

vowiski:

Did he or did he not command us to imitate him? So what Nonsense are you saying?

You read the part you like and dumped the Command..

Shame!

I thank God that I am not a pastor nor have I desired necessarily to be one.

So I can be quite objective about things. Obviously your money is VERY important to you and you must hoard it with your life and again you have a right to do that.

If you have any sincere desire to understand this topic, then please read 1 Cor 9, 1 Tim 5:17,18.

I suspect you are already familiar with these scriptures so I'm pretty sure you shall not be convinced here on NL.

Shalom!

How does the ushers and other workers in the church eat and provide for thier families?

To compare the work a pastor does to what an usher does is quite simply ignorant.

I shall assume it was an unintentional error.
Religion / Re: Should A Pastor Be Paid A Regular Month Salary? by omofat: 12:55pm On May 03, 2013
vowiski: A pastor has no right to any monthly salary, It is just that we Nigerians are very Gullible. I was once like that, But after I was exposed to biblical truths, i realized that alot of unscriptural nonsense have been preached through the pulpit.

When we fail to study, we prevent access to knowledge. Many of us let our clergy men do the study for us, while we just go to church on Sunday, screaming and yelling "ride on pastor cheesy" even even when the man is saying gibberish, but how can we know, when we do not study?

If a man goes into the Nigeria church business because of money, that's not a pastor, In the days of my gullibility, I used to be scared to talk about pastors, but these days they are nothing but con artist.. The bible says we should test every spirit because the anti-christ have gone into the world mis-leading God's children. When we test them, we Judge them according to the doctrine of Christ.

This is what Apostle Paul says regarding work, Apostle Paul was the man who Jesus, said would be the instrument to spread the Gospel truths..

Many fraudulent pastors will avoid reading the bible verse cheesy

2 Thessalonians 3 (New International Version)

Let me remind belivers, that spreading the gospel is not a work, it is the primary assignment of every christian. I wonder how the Church deteriorated so low. Humans worshiping the fellow mortal pastors.. Paying tithes and all those unscriptural nonsense.

If you want to hide anything from an African, Put it inside the book.. cheesy... He will never find it..

Today, they are countless churches in every corner of Nigeria, yet Nigerians live under 1$ a day while clergy-men who have no works parade in private jets, hummer jeeps, range rover with battalion of security operatives making it hard to differentiate them from corrupt politicians.

If the preachers of God's words were like the jewish rulers, no-body would have said; :ah.. these guys are christ-like o:
they would probably have said, "oh.. they look just like Ceasar" sad

Paul says "Not that we don't have a right to it"; They did have a right to expect remunerations from the assembly.

He then outlines why he chooses to act the way he does. He explains the same thing in his letter to the Corinthians.

Because some high profile pastors flagrantly abuse God's providence doesn't negate it and it doesn't mean the millions of humble, faithful pastors ought to suffer because of that.

asscend: When Civil Partenships was granted, they told us they will not in anyway tamper with Marriage as we all know it to be, now they want to go a step further and endorse it. Anyway i hope the Senate chucks it out when it comes to them.

Anybody that talks about embracing civil unions/partnerships but denounces gay marriage is engaging in some kind of weird verbal gymnastics. Eventually you will realise that one eventually and ultimately leads to the other. Hence why the man is careful to describe his journey as an 'evolution'. It's just not logically sound to say "i think person X can do this thing that person Y does and call it different names".

The concept of separate but equal doesn't really make sense.

What is even funnier or weirder (depending on how you look at it) is that clowns like Rush Limbaugh or Newt Gingrich will now come out and absolutely bash Obama repeatedly for "undermining the institution of marriage" and they will do so without any sense of irony whatsoever.

A great insult indeed.

When the appointment of Adeniyi  as special adviser to Yaradua

Yes, Ribadu as the presidential candidate for ACN is ACN property.

Ribadu has his reasons but he must know  by now that his political
career in ACN is over.

So is ACN ribadu's employer?

The God that sends who sends a person was hungry, found an egg and ate to hell.

Absolutely nothing about their good.

No grace, nothing.

^^^ Sit down there and be arguing about semantics you hear.

Yes of course one should not arrogate powers which belong to only to God to any man. That is common sense; all GOs, pastors, etc at the end of the day are men and are subject to the failings of men. Do we need a thread to debate that?

Whether calling someone daddy is what is important to the saving of your souls, you will tell me

Who is going to provide the HIV meds for the almost 400k Nigerians, who rely on foreign aid for their meds?

What have Human Rights got to do with religion or being the anti-christ?
What happened to the minds of Nigerians? You are all so quick to utter all kinds of BS about homosexuality being western etc,
but at the same time, you use western religions to justify your hatred and intolerance?

Why do you guys care so much?

If your lives were truly happy and fulfilling, as they should be, seeing as you are all such God-fearing Christians, where is all this venom
and rage coming from? You need to redirect all this anger and unhappiness to the appropriate channels. Get mad at those who stole all the
money from naija and left millions hungry and in darkness. Get mad at all those evangelists in their mansions and brand new, air-conditioned, luxury cars, while you
walk around, or jump on Okada, sweating and looking dusty, in Jesus name!

Some of you come on here spouting all kinds of religious crap, failing to realize that you actually sound like a bunch of pathetic retards.
Maybe you would be more enlightened, if your reading list didn't consist solely of the Bible and/or Koran.
Religion simply has no place in legislation. Everyone deserves basic human rights, including the right to be free and not imprisoned for being who they are or
being intimate with another consenting adult. Regardless what you think your religion, which just happens to be western, says about it.

Homosexuals have and will always exist, there is nothing anyone can do about that.
Heterosexual men go to prison and slam each other, so what exactly is throwing man-lover men in jail going to achieve, other than deprive them of
their basic rights?

If there was more action, more intellectual growth and less praying, Naija wouldn't be as messed up as it is.

May God Bless You All!

Thank you and God bless.

I think you and Delafruita are trying to reason with unreasonable people. They just can't or won't understand.

Religion has blinded their eyes like the pharisees they claim to despise.
