Lekan baba, I am very happy for you, I read this with so much smile on my face.

Reading your story, you found nothing but favour, you sat down yet a special custom person came to meet you himself and gave you a seamless passage till you boarded your flight. That's nothing but grace and favour. You've being watering lives on this platform so I am not surprise God also made it easy for you.

Schooling and working will largely take you away from this platform, we'll greatly miss you, but you've contributed your quota and touched lives directly, I say a very big THANK YOU, GOD WILL GO BEFORE YOU IN ALL YOUR ENDEAVOURS.

Go and flourish boss

MY LANDING GIST!!!!

KLM Flight at MMIA, Ikeja. Lagos to Amsterdam (almost 6hrs layover at Amsterdam Airport), Amsterdam to Toronto.

Got to the Airport 4pm, August 11th

Brought three bags (22kg Clothes, 20kg Food), Laptop bag with my laptop, clear bag having my docs. & some other Contents (chips) inside of it.

Interestingly, the first search port , they checked my first bag which was having my clothes in it, as I was trying to bring my second bag (which contained Food stuffs) , they said I shouldn't bother, was quite surprised. Because i know i might not be able to go out during quarantine, I packed a substantial amount of food stuffs and ready to eat foods such as Peanuts, Chips etc. The second bag i used to pack my foodstuffs was a Traveling bag, am assuming they thought it was Clothes that was also inside that bag. In a nutshell I wasn't directed to Nigerian Quarantine Agriculture service, I went straight to KLM post to check-in.

Thank you very much for this insightful submission.

However, I have few questions.

We know there's usually a quarterly ceiling to what each entity and individual can access, what happens if one reaches its limit and genuinely requires Forex for essential need like health or goods at the port about to enter demurrage

Also accessing Forex at banks requires huge documentation and we all know the bureaucratic nature of this country, what happens if 1 has a deal to settle but can't furnish the bank all necessary documents

Lastly, we know allocation of Forex at times as to do with them them and long queue. Those who require might not get it within required timeframe whilst the big guns cut corners, how does CBN & DMBs in the country intends to address this.

I feel the idea is good but has the apex bank worked on ease of accessibility, documentation, fast allocation and other bottleneck to get this going without adversely affecting geninue users who have been transacting via BDC channel for years?

I think we have a long way to go and this policy will affect us negatively ( just like border closing). This won't stop round tripping and racketeering, bankers have been empowered and the cartels will start operations. After all who's going to monitor their dealing and how often does CBN conduct on site supervision?

In all a good policy with bad implementation tools and strategy.

MadeMan01:

Its actually a Very good decision and long overdue. It is shameful that a country has two different exchange rates for FOREX, it shows the government is not in control of the FOREX economy all this while. This thrived because a lot of politicians and their cronies were getting license to open Bureau De Change and they were just getting licenses. Now the banks were using some of them to sell FOREX to public to make money faster at higher levels with less restrictions posed by documentation. However, things got so bad when the volume of money controlled by BDC was so much that it was almost equalling what banks had or exceeded what the banks had. That is why sometime bank say they don't have Forex, or you go to BDC and only see one teller or two at counter and can't get $1000. But go to Mallam on street, you will get any quantity when he arranged his colleagues together at higher rate to you. Where are the mallams getting dollar if not from the CBN and banks. So the BDCs could affect the FOREX economic policy of government.
CBN should go further. To give a one month deadline for all BDC to sell their FOREX to banks and after which date any Forex they bring will be exchanged at discounted value to them in order to mop up all Forex stashed in BDC hands and threaten to revoke their license. That way all the scarce Forex hoarding by BDC will be back in banks hand and it will improve supply for banks to sell to public at govt stated rate.
It lasted all this while from obasanjo days when $1 was sold at N22 by CBN and banks were selling through BDC at N88. A lot of bank MDs became billionaire by this and FCMB chairman founder was sanctioned for one of these reasons then.

Boss, duty of secrecy has series of exemptions

A customer can expressly or implies that the bank give out the details to a 3rd party.

The moment you apply for your account statement to be sent to a 3rd, you've expressly told the bank to give that party access to that portion of information you consented to.

So all this bank won't this won't that is fallacy, the embassy has details that you by yourself furnish them by way to telling your bank to supply them such info.

Chipo14:
That's for MBS. I am referring to the normal bank statement. No bank tells anyone people's balances except for regulatory and fraud purposes. Trust me I know. The banks has the obligation to say whether the statement is genuine or not. Reason why mybankstatement was introduced was to allow applicants grant then access to verify the account rather than the usual statement where current balance cannot be know. This is not to encourage fake statement as the bank will definitely respond the statement is fake if it is.

I submitted my application through an amazing consultant (not all “agents” are bad lol) before joining nairaland. I thought the application was airtight then I came on here. When I saw stories of career progression and 2.1 going for masters instead of pgc and matching your proposed study to your previous studies and work experience, I started losing hope and my study plan that I thought was perfectly written was looking like it didn’t make sense.

I ordered my GCMS notes on the 21st of May but it hasn’t arrived yet.

I almost lost hope but just kept pushing and having faith in God. I prayed and fasted and cried to God to answer my prayers.

When I saw people’s eligibility review starting after 4 months and still getting refused I wanted to lose faith again but I kept joining NLP (Next level prayers with Pst. Bolaji) every morning to renew my faith and pray fervently.

I’m so grateful for this platform. All the advices and testimonies kept me sane during my waiting period. I pray for everyone expecting this good news that the good news is here already and May Canada favour us all. I know waiting can be tiring but please don’t give up, God will hasten his word to perfect all that concerns everyone waiting.

While waiting please write down your testimony in faith. I wrote my first testimony draft on the 14th of March and I was just updating as things unfolded. God remembers your faith my people.

PS: no application is the same, my boyfriend and I applied around the same time and he got his in 2 months. Just keep praying and believing God and He will do it.

God bless you all!

IT ENDED IN PRAISE!

Yet they stated no NSE

I don't think some of these VOs are on top of their game.

This is looking like clear error coupled with unwarranted delay/denial... Not fair

If I were in your shoes, I would institute a JR though expensive but this application will scale through.

I think there's a mix up somewhere, since you submitted IELTS upfront and even resent upon request and the note states no NSE, then some of these info ain't yours.

I really wish you can appeal this decision, it's a straight forward reversion that will end this matter.

Sorry about this delay

I wish you all a delightful outcome in your applications. We learn every day, and some experiences are worthwhile, even though they are a bit sad. But we move!

I applied on March 11 by the way.

March folks will be getting decisions. Stay blessed.

Since most Nigerian applicants can meet the requirement of NSE, they will surely match the SDS requirements.

Most Tuition are btw 15-18k CAD, this plus 10k living expense, gives at least 25-28K CAD, max you table a bank statement 2-5m Naira to complement it.

Many of us are good to go. Someone recently claim to have over 150k CAD, another claim hubby has almost same amount, the guy that drop GCMS update has over 30k CAD as PA after tuition deposit, even his sponsor has over 300k CAD.

I believe Nigerians will do justice to the SDS requirements. Even if I can't speak for anyone, I can for myself.

shupy:

Most Indians go through SDS route. I doubt most Nigerian applicants would meet the requirements.
1 year tution fee
10k CAD GIC arrangement
And in most cases, a bank statement is required

Omo,

This is new to me oooooo, how I wish @justmellow @Frankrobbn @Lekiboboe are here to chip in some vital points on this.

I feel this demands has a strong connection with your SOP (claims therein) and documentation.

How is it possible to get payment sorted in 15 days?
Plenty what if
What if the school doesn't have a refund policy?
What if the Form A isn't treated within 15 days?
What if school doesn't acknowledge payment with 15days?
What if you arrange for apartment via someone over there and boom you get scammed?
What if the apartment you find isn't even suitable for you (location to school, stores, bus station etc)?
What is the terms and condition of the landlord/lady doesn't seat well with you?

This is the perfect illustration of between the devil and deep blue sea.

PPR right within your reach yet looking like an insurmountable task.

I just hope what you claimed in your SOP as regards income and work experience matches your salary account and your employment letter.

I wish you all the luck that's on offer ATM, I'm rooting for you boss.

It will end in praise

Calm down, take a deep breath.

Now go to the bank and explain the situation to them, they should provide a well detailed information about the account and it history on their letter head duly signed and stamped by the account officer and the branch manager. Get another copy of MBS for 1 year on the said account, then prepare a well detailed and structure LOE to address the situation at hand.

You're not the first person facing this, just do anything within your power to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the account is 100% authentic.

In fact, if you scale through this, favourable decision on your application looks sure (not certain ooo, I no be VO oooo)

Go break their mouth bros
