The father only did the proper thing, following due process. He didn't deny his son. If the security guys knew their work, they'll have known that's the normal thing. Anyone coming from risk prone area should be isolated for at least 14days. Whether you are Buhari or Donald Trump. It's just normal precaution. Even internationally where countries are helping their citizens back home. The persons go through same process.
If the son infects the father and whoever else is at home. The son has great chance of recovery compared to the father. It's simple common sense.

Oga, I am very sure u didn't read my comment with knowledge, if u do, u wouldn't comment and say 'it's simple common sense'

I am sorry for over estimating your sense of reasoning, but I felt matured mind reads and comment here.

In my comment sir, u can see I congratulated the man and blamed the boy for not listening to his father. I even presumed the man's deligency to work at his peak years.

I was being sarcastic with my comment, and if u read with wisdom, u would understand it was a two-edged comment.

I didn't condemn the man's actions. It was on point, I only expected him to have treated it with more consuiosness, it may bomrang at later years, if better care is not taken.

Kindly apply common sense to understand my msg.

Many thanks for quoting me.

Politics / Re: COVID-19: Can Africa Afford Lockdowns? - Charles Soludo by oshom09(m): 3:48pm On Apr 24, 2020
It is a generally known fact that "talk is cheap'. It cost absolutely nothing to talk or sit down at the corner of your house to test one of the basic skills you learnt at your primary education level 'writing skill'....

I must honestly admit the fact that Prof Soludo has written well, while, also acknowledging the fact that our country administrators are stereotype, incompetent goats and they don't have believe in their own problem solving abilities, or better still, they lack wisdom and knowledge.

In the Bible, it is written that "my people perish because they lacked basic knowledge". Or should we say our leaders have knowledge but lack wisdom and understanding.

Happenings in Africa have revealed that 'black race' is either cursed and/or designed albinitio to fail as a continent. No doubt, Africa as a continent has produced and still birthing great minds, intellectuals, sound and great thinkers, strategical and analyst. However, why has Africa refused to develop and solve her problems, it remains a rhetorical question?... Copy and paste has mastered our life, even the newer generation sees it as their best option, templates saves u from thinking and makes you dump !!

Prof Charles Soludo has honestly given us a great piece/article. I so much cherish is writing skills, it is best to none. However, I will like to ask these questions, does he think the low thinking commercial drivers are ready to spend money to disinfect their buses on a daily basis ? most drivers I know in Nigeria are only ready to drive 32people to Oshodi with no tire in front and no brake..

A Nigeria commercial driver once drove me and 17 others from Ife to Lagos without brake and no extra tire. Thank God the unfortunate did not happen that day. This hoodlums will only help spread the virus.

In a recent Video, 'I am not being tribalistic here', I have never being enslaved by tribalism and never will I, I saw a clown from the nothern part of Nigeria washing his hands in a bowl/bailer and he drank it, he said corona-drivus (has coined by some Nigerian's) cannot infect him as it is not real. Let us assume corona virus is an abstract virus, is it normal for a sane person in a sane world to drink such water.......

(Recently some people died in the northern part of the country via an unknown ailment or disease. I wouldn't want to dwell too much on that as it is subject matter for another day)

These people will spread the virus if government had not compulsuried the lock-down at the early stage. I still feel the lock-down was a proactive measure. Although, our government should be blamed for not immediately closing international borders, isolating foreigners and immigrants when the news of the virus sprung up. We know prevention is much and much cheaper than cure.

The issue of poor governance of the country by our rulers has surely been over flogged in the past by several scholars, despite that, situation kept worsening.

My other comments based on my Soludo resolution;

1. Our local herbs can no doubt solve the problem if our local herbs specialist research on it. But how many people would have contacted it and get killed by this contagious virus. The herbs wouldn't be immediate thing, so we actually needed the lock down to flatten the curve at its early stage.
Not the best for our Nation at this point in time, but not a bad tool either..... If I may ask, when last did Mr Soludo sips our local herbs last, I doubt it, foreign hospital will not let them dare it.

I believe the virus is getting to it peak (14-30days) in the country that is while we are recording more cases on daily basis. I expect it to start dropping drastically in few days by God's grace.

2. Assuming Mr Soludo is our president, I doubt if he would have done better or suggested more sustainable approach at its early stage in the country. Records reveals that he was once in power, the rest is history...

3. Can face mask flatten the curve when we have so many clowns in the country who woudnt listen to simple instructions? Our people are too stubborn. I stand to be corrected, in Nigeria, more than 30percent of people who knows they have CoVid-19 are looking at ways of spreading it to more people"we die together mentality".

4. Assuming the lock-down was not put in place and the virus struck the company so bad like Italy, God forbid, I know people will still write that "Our government has refused to learn from Western world", they will questions, why have we refused to lock down?.... In whatever ways, government will surely be at the receiving end !!!!!

5. Mr Soludo has a point and government should tap from some of his recommendations.

6. Mr Soludo, I am sure u are spending wisely some of our national treasurer u stole then. It is well with our soul

To cut the whole thing...

Government needs to carryout more test daily and invest heavily on health sector. This virus is surely an eye opener to what we should still be expecting in later years. "Viruses keeps resurfacing every 4/5years'

We need to get ready for situations like this and avoid to be caught of guard always. I am sure the Western world would see more of positives in this trying period than negative. We should imbibe this and prepare for the future...

As u lay your bed, nah so u go sleep untop am.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Discrimination Of HND Holders, Equating Them With Bsc Third Class. by oshom09(m): 8:58pm On Nov 10, 2015
fratermathy:
This is getting too old and stale.

While I do not support totally embarrassing HND graduates and denying them of promotions, appointments and a chance to make a successful career, it should be noted that HND and B.Sc/B.A/B.Agric/B.Tech/LL.B/B.Fisheries/MBBS/DVM are different and the dichotomy must be emphasised.
HND is a technical diploma. It is technically not even a Degree but a National Diploma. B.Sc and its other appellations are the recognised standard for academic, theoretical and career based jobs and appointments. That is not to say HND cannot be used. It is just that HND is better off for handy middle-levelled and technical jobs/careers. The whole essence of HND is to make sure that there are middle-levelled skilled people in the society that can be called upon and relied on for their technical expertise. University graduates are seen as having done a theoretical study with much intellectual rigour and are, thus, deemed to have a high intellectual acuity for certain professions and careers. This must be known and not relegated. No matter how much sentiments come in and no matter how much we try to equate these certifications, the sacrosanct fact is that they are not the same. As long as one is a "Diploma" and another is a "Degree", they can NEVER be treated equal and same.

On the issue of Shell equating HND with Third Class, I have iterated in the previous paragraph that HND is not seen as an intellectually inclined degree but rather as a technically inclined diploma. Having a Distinction in HND only proves that you have an excellent technical expertise, perhaps even beyond that of University Degree holders. However, this does not translate into the fact that you are intellectually buoyant enough to stand a University First Class product. It doesn't add up. For one, our Nigerian Polytechnics operate a 4 points GPA system as opposed to the 5 Points used in our Nigerian varsities. Secondly, the units of courses taken in HND programmes are far lower, both individually and cumulatively, when compared with a University. Thirdly, the course contents in Polytechnics are peripheral and elementary as opposed to that of a University! Fourthly, the calibre of academic staff and their standing is much lower than that of a University. For one, a Polytechnic cannot have a Professorial Cadre! Polytechnics usually have substandard facilities and make-shift labs and instruments. All these come together to haunt the graduates of Nigerian Polytechnics!

The solution to all these bifurcations is easy. Polytechnics should be made to award a B.Tech rather than an "Ordinary" or "Higher" diploma. Polytechnic facilities should be overhauled and made to standards. The Professorial Cadre, alongside its competitive and cumbersome "floating" process, should be introduced to the Polytechnics. Polytechnics should employ the 5 or more Points GPA system and courses should be well developed, standard and carry higher units! In fact, the term "Polytechnic" should be hijacked from parlance and replaced with University of Technology or any other soothing appellation. We should always strive to follow the UK pattern in our technological pedagogical system.

Finally, on the issue of ostracization and stigmatization, I believe it is only Nigerian Legislative Bodies that can end this once and for all. As long as they are comfortable with it, nothing will change! Let's just stop flogging this issue and look forward to better things! This issue has been discussed, ignited and quenched severally since Nigerian employers' decisions to employ preferential treatments! It is time we either take drastic measures or simply let it go as we have always done.

Good writeup bro, but I equally disagree with some of your points(differentiating points) in respective of how sweet u made it look like with your big oyinbo's......lol

But honestly speaking have promised myself not to comments or say anything relating to the dichotomy and stigmatization between the 2 certificates....

I went to a polytechnic and graduated untop of my class some years back and I later decided to go back to the university after my Nysc to prevent and avoid being a subject of criticism of the egocentric BSC graduates... I have tested the 2 higher institution and I can easily points out the weak points of both.

Whetter u believe it or not, Universities are only enjoying probably the past glory of the hard worked forefathers......if I want to grade the new generation of university lecturers and curriculum u claimed to be well equipped,..... Oga, na sorry case...

I have particularly corrected professors guffing in classroom many times, professor get confused in class and their counterpart doctors fumbling in class........Although nobody is an island of knowledge, if yes, then they shouldn't make university graduate one.
when I got admitted, the so called university undergraduate respect me a lot and even till now (thanks to God), because they know what God as down in my life by attending polytechnic and they yell for the knowledge they cannot acquire from the google downloaded crammed materials which they eventually forget after exams because I noticed professors want a replicate of what they gave u......
u also claimed they have facilities, I know u meant outdated and scrap facilities of the oldies...
(I can see how the theories we lent in the university have been put to practice, u can see how we are designing aeroplanes and the likes)

I wouldn't talk about polytechnic feebles /advantages, since all have the believe that polytechnics are useless and have nothing to offer technically nor practically...

I will only advice the polytechnic graduate to get a DE form like i did and go and do what they do in the university to safe yourself from any dichotomy and embarrassment from Nigeria's university graduate.....

Business / Re: Please Advice Me!!! What Business Can I Start With 50k? by oshom09(m): 2:21pm On Oct 10, 2015
Honestly speaking, comments here sounds very funny and even the ex-corper should have tried to save more than the 50k.... Am aware u collect 200naira short of 20k per month and also at your PPA they will give u nothing less than 5k except u served in an outskirt or cattle rearing town........

Back to your question...
it just a pity that is only a country like Nigeria someone will have 50k and still lack business idea because we believe the value of naira is nothing to write home about...
however, I wouldn't say is far from the truth, but u can still get something done with that iota....

Business idea

1)Have u thought of laundering business: honestly speaking u don't need much to start a laundering business, with 50k u can get---- Iron, small washing machine, ironing board and detergent for a start, however to thrive in this business, your marketing skill has to be high because u must attract corporate customers and not customers like yourself....(light is also very important, but thanks to GMB tenure, light as improved)

2)Have u ever thought of opening a barbing saloon?? if not, it doesn't cost much to open one....(u buy a clipper or 2(5k) , Generator (I pass my neighbor, chair (fairly use) and a shop)... location determines your daily returns

3)if u are close to any institution or citadel of learning--- just buy a photocopier, 12-15k computer set, and I pass my neighbour (generator)... u go blow soon or on the other hand
3(2) or ( u start frying egg and bread or cooking indomie with egg for students, its a very lucrative job in unilag, don't know about any other school)

now funny
4) u can start frying Puff-puff and egg roll with bean cake at night

Oga Ade, plz try and re-adjust the position of your brain b4 typing rubbish here or get some educated and elite persons around u to read your comment b4 making it public....

1)if u are not a dunce or a nuisance u wouldn't say your dog sleeps on a better mattress than we do here and moreover do u expect students to bring mattress from home to the hostel ( pls make use of your brain)
2)Mr dullard, u said u are not a student and never a student---- hmm, so sad that in this 21th century an illetrate like u still exist.... Mr, is better for u to go get a GCE form and go to school so u can be inclined with knowledge and better reasoning than your present state.(u are such a disgrace to your clan)
3)I don't have any problem with polytechnic graduates, they are good and it just unfortunate our government is sick and lack foresight to realize polytechnic is a very good place to acquire technical and practical knowledge.........
Am proud to be a polytechnic graduate and equally happy to be a university student....
Education / Re: Unilag Gate Shut Down By Students Over Infestation Of Bedbugs.*pics by oshom09(m): 9:32am On Sep 28, 2015
waoh at last....
have been waiting patiently for a day like this to come to past. Most of you nairalander wouldn't understand the damage all these bedbugs do to my skin each night and it so bad that u see bedbugs sleeping inside your shoe waiting curiously for u to put your legs inside the pairs.

I remembered a friend of mine killed this so-called pest in his private part, it an endemic situation in Unilag and I also killed a bedbug in my office this morning, am so sure I transported the bedbug unknowingly..

the school management should please do something about this chronic situation b4 these bedbugs start spreading a dangerous virus than Ebola.
I rest my case...
Family / Re: My Husband ‘fingers’ Our Daughters While Bathing Them: Wife Tells Judge by oshom09(m): 10:05am On Sep 25, 2015
i cant correlate the man's defense to the wife's accusation, different reasons given by the couple for dissolution of their so called marriage(1) my husband sometimes stays at home to *finger* our children and get paid (2) my wife steals government properties and bring them home for usage.
hmmmmmm...
however
the man is a dog for molesting his own heirs, he needs psychiatrist attention.......

Was it not just yesterday a civil servant was prostrating to him as if he is the newly crowned Ooni of Ife?
I can't stop laughing because of this clown

Laws of this nation are obsolete and highly eroded, I think our parliament needs to revisit these laws and recapture it to suite the modern requirements and due punishments should be encapsulated in the reform...

how can the law of 1970's still be quoted and still in force in 2015? what the Bleep??

our laws are not well furnished, big sin little punishment..

that idiot should be sued for attempted murder of 2 and shouldn't spend less than 80years imprisonment.
