For those who are use to this business every year, bear with me and you can add yours, but for those who are new to this please let try to learn something together. It a practicable way to earn something in the season.

SOURCING.

FROM SEASON FARMERS.
Definitely it's the season for the emergence of season or hobby farmer who likes to take the advantage of the season, for some it an opportunity to satisfy their craving for poultry production and for some it's an opportunity to make fast money, these set of people produce mostly broiler chickens, and most produce in mass and have difficulty in marketing and sales, this is an opportunity and a good source for Christmas chicken sales for you. You can just approach them and offer to sell for them, get it at a discount rate and sell with your interest.

FROM OLD LAYERS(SPENT LAYERS), OLD BREEDERS AND PARENT STOCK FARMERS.
Majority of egg producing farmer target Christmas to sell off their spent layers otherwise known as old layers. This types of bird flood the market in the Christmas season and it comes in comparatively low price, many farms at the end of the year are always in need of buyers. You can take the advantage as your source of Christmas chicken sales. Just source for their contact and bargain with them. This also apply to the breeder and parent stock famers.

FROM BACKYARD POULTRY FARMERS.
Backyard poultry farmers are majorly hubby farmers, this kind of farmer mostly deal with Cockerels and broiler too, sometime on free range, which makes their chicken more mature and have tough flesh. they don't raise much chickens, but they also have some amount of chicken to sell too, but they are some customers who will demand for the kind of product they have to offer.

IN OFFICES, SCHOOLS AND GOVERNMENTS SECRETARIATS.

Another way to make a reasonable money this Christmas from sales of Christmas chicken is processing. During the Christmas season there are always presence of chicken seller in the major market around town and many people buy chicken but wouldn't want to take it home and start with the stress of slaughtering, feathers picking and dressing, they prefer doing everything in the market. So setting up a chicken processing spots in major market is also a nice business, presently chicken are process with as high as 500 naira and processing just 20 birds a day his definitely something cool to take home.

PRICE, PRICING AND POTENTIAL RETURN ON INVESTMENT.
There is inflation in the land, that is no new story, last year records the highest price chicken as ever been sold, but with all indication this year will definitely be higher than last year due to many glaring factors, high cost of feeding, been the leading suspect.

Last year broiler was sold from the farm at an average price of N4,000.00 to N8,000.00 depending on the size and location, but this year with all indication it might be selling for N5,000.00 but the bigger one might be selling for as high as N10,000.00 to N12,000.00.
Spent layers or old layers play the big spoiler for broiler every December, competing favorably with broiler was sold for between N2,500.00 and N2,700.00 last year might be selling between N2,900.00 to N3,100.00. And Cockerels might be selling for N3,500.00 to N6,000.00 from the farm, and probably N4,500.00 to N7,000.00 in the market this year.
But the price can varies greatly, depending on the areas, attractiveness, marketing etc

The best way to determine your return on investment is to conduct a simple market survey in your area to determine the price chicken is selling, and predict the possible price chicken will be selling for the season. Then you can make projection.
