Alcatraz005: You seem to underestimate the revolutionary power of the Yoruba people, and I will tell you why. I am Ibo by the way. There is no tribe in Nigeria today that has resisted oppression physically, and by violent means, more than the Yoruba tribe. In the 60s when elections were rigged in the West, the entire region was engulfed in an orgy of violence, never before seen in Nigeria. Ask people of the origin of the words "operation wetie" and "Wild wild west" After the 1983 elections when the then ruling NPN massively rigged the elections across the West, supplanting the then popular Awolowo led UPN, the region, especially Ondo state stood still! There were riots in Ondo state and all over the West, of the type never imagined, or expected by the then ruling NPN of President Shehu Shagari. The then "elected" Governor of Ondo State Akin Omoboriowo had to relocate to Lagos to attempt to govern from there. He could not stand the heat back home. Meanwhile in the East, the popular Jim Nwobodo was rigged out without a whimper from his people. Unpopular C.C. Onoh was made Governor. I think the courts reinstated Jim. What saved Sam Mbakwe of Imo State was that he wept live on TV, leading the then ruling party to leave him in sympathy. He later became "the weeping Governor" We can go on and on. Now of Nigeria's recognised radicals, I recall Funmilayo Ransome Kuti (Fela's mum), Fela, Gani Fawehinmi, Beko Ransome Kuti, Tai Solarin (who started the SAP riots in 1990), Bishop Gbonigi, Wole Soyinka, today's Femi Falana. Now, show me anyone else from any tribe that has done better than these names in advocating for radical change. I would be glad to be proven wrong. Please, my dear brothers, the Yorubas are not lazy. Let this notion leave your mind. They may be slow to fully react, but they can be venomous when they do, including by "African" war fare means. The warrior title Are Ona Kakanfo exists in Youbaland. Tell me your tribe's equivalent title. Make we let sleeping dogs lie o! ![]() 8 Likes |

Ghana has tradition, they have institutions that maintain and uphold their standards. They have organisation. They are serious minded and you see that right from the airport where professional servicemen meet you, straight faced, no "what have you brought for your boys"? When Ghanaians analyse their economy and politics, they do so articulately. That's a product of their sound educational system. Over here, we joke! We reek of mediocrity. Just like our substandard schools. Nigeria awake! Choose your leaders aright. 11 Likes 1 Share |

The likes of Prof Utomi will do exceedingly well for Delta State. Unfortunately the people are too battered with poverty and stricken by fear to follow their mind. 5 Likes 1 Share |

The fact that the flood water in Asaba is red is indicative of severe underdevelopment of the area. No tarred roads! Asaba has become a glorified village, ignored by successive governments. This is the first time pictures of a flooded Nigerian State Capital is dominated by RED flood water. 1 Like |

NwaAmaikpe: How do we connect? I need a design for my proposed 5 bedroom country bungalow sitting on pillars, and a BQ. The BQ to sit at the back, and the front part with pillars to form the garages. A lawn and garden in front. Thanks for responding. |

Senator Adeleke is just a happy person. This party probably is a normal one, which most Nigerians at this level have. We all spray at parties, yes. Spraying is infectious. Please, let this happy guy be. He was born into wealth, if you know his family. Please, let the man be. |

And why has this (topic) become necessary for discussion? Having no gates makes the bank more beautiful. Opens its unique architecture up for appreciation. |

SalamRushdie: You obviously did not read Obasanjo's account well. Go through it again, then go through historical accounts from sources such as Tell and Newswatch magazines, then return and write here again. 3 Likes |

4 days ago, I called Taxify and saw the assigned vehicle was a Toyota Camry 2009 model. I made my way outside my gates, opened the back door of the car and peered in; only to see a lady seated behind the steering wheel with the most startled look on her face. As I withdrew, I apologised profusely explaining my mistake...then, my called cab appeared. Same Camry model. Sigh. ![]() 2 Likes |

zxcvb: The guy's beautiful write up is not hating on Lagos, but simply saying why he cannot fall in love with Lagos even after giving the city a couple of chances to warm up to his heart. Lagos is a popular destination for us Nigerians no doubt, but you cannot hide the fact that it drains you faster than an android battery. Sigh! 2 Likes |

chiscodedon: When you guys keep referring to some tribe as cowards (in apparent reference to Yorubas) I wonder if you ever thought the likes of Gani Fawehinmi, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Wole Soyinka, Gani Adams and the rest of them came from some outer space tribe? Now name your own heroes, including the one who bolted to Cot d'Ivoire. You may ignore the one, the new leader, that keeps saying he didn't say what he just said. 1 Like |

franudi: Yorubas are no cowards: Awolowo went to jail, and was one of Nigeria's most principled politicians. Soyinka was arrested and detained for treason, Fajuyi died for Ironsi, etc etc. What other sacrifice proves their bravery? I am Ibo, mark you. |

skimmy005: You are either about 5 years old, or a bit un-enlightened. You know nothing about Igbinedion, one of Africa's most outstanding entrepreneurs in over half a century. He started at a very young age, founded Midmotors, Nigeria's first private vehicle assembly plant renowned for Hino trucks, established Okada Air, Africa's pioneer private Airline which helped sustain air travel in Nigeria when Nigeria Airways began to falter, established the pace-setting Igbinedion Education centre, founded Nigeria's touted answer to overseas medicare, Igbinedion Hospital and Medical Research Centre Okada Wonderland (now Igbinedion University) among many firsts. His wealth and prominence far predate your arrival son. You can email me @ fredoxone@gmail.com, or visit the Igbinedion website for more information if interested. I just love his courage and achievement, that's all! |

One of Africa's best brains. You never get it right the first time with Tony. There's nearly always need for you to go and correct something you've brought to him. Detailed to the dot. When he began to set up branches of the then Standard Trust Bank, people said he was crazy, a "cowboy" Now everyone has followed the vision. Bank at your door step! Innovator extraordinaire! |

It's a shame, Nigeria is being turned into an incubator for sexual immorality via the likes of BBN and Telemundo by this devil-inspired South African media. What are the Nigerian regulatory authourities doing? With the current surge in rape cases across the land, this sure is something we cannot endorse? |

Why this relentless criticism of MMM, a scheme that feeds and has liberated a lot of Nigerians from poverty and want? How much has anyone been paid to do this miserable job?? How shameless, how cowardly!! 1 Like |
