Politics / Re: Cbn Governor: Tunde Lemo Be Prepared! by OYBMEND: 12:52am On Jun 02, 2009 |
Nigeria’s economic development has been said to be realistic with sound and qualitative human resources complementing the nation’s natural resources. A former lawmaker, Senator Isaiah Balat, stated this in Kaduna during the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration of St Anne’s School, where he donated N500,000 to the school. He added that education and training are decisive factors in giving a nation a competitive advantage through having a pool of specialised and advanced human resources with scientific knowledge and economic information that could upgrade the country’s economy and improve the quality of life. According to Balat, “Education and training constitute perhaps, the single greatest long term leverage point available to all levels of government in upgrading the standard of living of the citizens. Improving the general education system is an essential priority of government.” he appealed to governments at all levels to provide a conducive environment for the growth of the educational sector. Senator Balat, who was flanked by Rev Fr. Matthew Hassan Kukah, General Salihu Ibrahim (Rtd), Archbishop Matthew Man’oso Ndagoso Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna Archdiocese, Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Mr. Patrick Yakowa and wife of the late Deputy Governor, Mrs. Charity Shekari, further said: “The effectiveness of an educational system is partly a function of the rate of budgetary allocations. For Nigeria to achieve competitive advantage, special attention need to be given to all sector especially at the foundation level where children hardly make it into the universities due to poor foundation. “Quality education is not possible without a cadre of well-prepared and competent teachers at all level. It is sad to note that in our country, teaching has not been seen as an attractive occupation especially from primary to secondary schools”. About N40 million was realised at the golden jubilee anniversary which also include a fund raising dinner for the building of a computer laboratory, a generating plant and upgrading of its science laboratory. First Bank’s Group Managing Director Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who is a former pupil of the school donated the sum of N20 million for the computer laboratory. http://leadershipnigeria.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1278:economic-devt-hinges-on-human-resources--balat&catid=16:headline-news&Itemid=75 |

moneygurl: Folks don't get it FBN Like most organisations have co-operate citizenship, so the money was ready to be spent by default (but he also had a responsiblity to spend it according to laid out guidline and mostly by those in charge of co-operate citizenship) But probably if allowed to FBN Co-operate citizenship rules, the school in Kaduna will not come to mind anytime soon or maybe the Kaduna Branch will make up its mind. So what he has done is by coming to office he has instructed those at the Kaduna Branch to pay some money to a particular school which happens to be his alma mata. This is a sharp practice because at worst it is corruption, at best it is abuse of power More worrying is the fact that this man will be in charge of our Foreign Reserve and he was on CNBC suggesting that Nigeria has a Foreign Reserve waiting to be spent. This should be troubling in a sane country. |
Politics / Cbn Governor: Tunde Lemo Be Prepared! by OYBMEND: 12:34am On Jun 02, 2009 |
I think Tunde Lemo should get ready for the Top Job Sanusi Lamido will not pass Senate Screening This is why Yar'adua sent Tunde Lemo's name as plan B Folks just my thought. 1. Federal Character does not favour a Kano Indigene which rules Sanusi out 2. Sanusi has questions about dodgy charity donations to his alma mata using FBN Money just within 5 months in office (so much for Risk Management) The Senate must do their duty properly and avert this constitutional crisis. |

Yar'adua already has a plan B, by sending Tunde Lemo's name to the National Assembly The man Tunde Lemo should get ready to be CBN Governor because this supposed Risk Manager will get no where. |

does a bank board approve every micro decision that a CEO takes before they are implemented? The cheque presentation was done on behalf of FirstBank’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, by the Business Development Manager (BDM) for Kaduna, Mr Gimba Ibrahim at the school’s premises in Kakuri, Kaduna South |

In an organised society, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi will have to explain how he managed to donate 20 million of FBN money to the same school he attended just within 5 months of being CEO. And I hope the Senators do their job and ask him to shed more light on that. |

biina: It is one thing to donate his own money to his alma mata, it is another to donate FBN money to his alma mata this coming from a supposed RISK MANAGER is very disturbing, especially when he has only spent 5 months as FBN CEO. |

@McCrackles I think u need to get a life it is right there on CBN website, I provided the link earlier we are talking about a supposed Risk Manager making such a miss step just within months of being FBN CEO If you dont have any credible defence of your God allow those who have to come up with one. |

Nigeria’s economic development has been said to be realistic with sound and qualitative human resources complementing the nation’s natural resources. this is a very tried and tested way of looting public money, donate public money to charity organisations or charity courses where you have friends and maybe someone could explain to us why he refused to point out in CBN Website that the 20 Million he donated was to a school he attended. http://www.firstbanknigeria.com/mc/pressrel/pr_11052009c.asp 20 million might be small but there is need to search if this leads to a trend |
Politics / Re: Sanusi Set For CBN- •‘it’s Not Going To Be Business As Usual’ by OYBMEND: 10:11pm On Jun 01, 2009 |
all this carry go mentality politics should stop this man recently donated 20million of First Bank money to the secondary school he attended. Someone needs to check who the recipient of that money is and if they are relatives of Sanusi We are busy celebrating!!!! |

this appointment is nothing but one northern political dynasty favouring another check El-Rufai's expose' you will see that the Sanusis sponsored Yar'adua's election to Governoship of Katsina if Merit means anything to Yar'adua he should stand down because he Yar'adua is not qualified to lead. This is how they made noise about Yar'adua being a Chemistry Teacher as if he will discover what Galileo Galilee did not discover, now we know better. Of all of Yar'adua 55 years on Earth he spent less than 4years as chemistry teacher , and they said yeyeyeyeyeye he is a chemistry teacher and we all bought. Now he is the most ineffective leader. Lets see how much Risk Sanusi will manage. NONSENSE!!! |

please what Funds the US Government? if not control of resources within its shores? Scotland is certainly not in charge of the oil in Aberdeen The revenue is controlled by the crown My sense is also that the US Government has some major control over Exxon Mobil and they are a major playor in US oil |
Politics / Re: Niger Delta War - Mend Strikes Back. by OYBMEND: 5:49pm On May 25, 2009 |
jimmysho: This is the real reason this crisis will continue for so long yet What you listed here u will hardly hear from any mainstream Ijaw politician . . . I doubt if Jonathan could even be courageous enough to state any of this . . . rather you hear this from Militants Well unfortunately the future of Nigeria will not be decided in the creeks nor in the battle field . . . .it will have to be decided in the NASS or the Courts or the Federal Executive Council . . . .so what hope if those who have access to these places are not even making any of these demands At the end of the day it boils down to one issue . . . 'you can't eat your cake and have it' . . . . . because the whole noise about ONE NIGERIA comes with some responsibilities. If you believe that Nigeria should be one then be man enough to live by it. As ONE NATION we have ONE MILITARY, ONE GOVERNMENT . . . . . and a central Government ideally should have the power to control resources within its shores albeit with the responsibility to make sure those who live close to those resources do not suffer environment degradation and are as well they have their lives improved in terms of school and health facilities. (the same should also apply to the rest of the country). If its the lack of living up to these responsibilities that is the issue, then it purely boils down to corruption which I believe every Nigerian whether you are from Bayelsa or Madugiri or Sokoto or Lagos of Enugu is suffering from. We are in it together. In fact the last time an Ijaw citizen face prosecution for corruption this same freedom fighters demanded his release. So is this not a case of a Government and a people who have no clue what they want and where they want to head to? And by the way another thought I have . . . . going by the latest political correctness on the ground about the Niger-Delta issue . . . is'nt it the case that the man from Oloibiri from Bayelsa State has more right to oil resources than the man from lets say Yenegoa in Bayelsa State, if this why does Bayelsa State have more right to collect resource allocation on behalf of the people of Oloibiri? so at what point does the division stop? This whole trouble is down to corruption and mis-management . . .and I think the whole MEND drama has no place in this issue if we know what we want. Because the tribal people in Abuja can as well start kidnapping people in Abuja because their town has been eroded to build a National Capital and everybody from every part of the country can also find a reason to claim they are being cheated and resort to kidnapping. So I think this is down to Bad Governance and Corruption . . . . nobody has any right to full resource countrol and yet at the same time pledging allegiance to ONE NIGERIA. We are either ONE NATION or we are not. The most important question I have and it will do this debate some good is. Is it possible to be within the sovereign Nation Nigeria . . . with the Army maintaining the territorial integrity of all our country and yet you want to have natural resources in your backyard all to yourself. (take note of the word Natural resources, it means that your forefathers did not plant those resources). I think what is fuelling this crisis and why this crisis will continue for so long is that their is a new found political corretcness with a very wrong premise. The current political narative is very flawed. |
Politics / Re: Lets Be Frank, Ijaws Are Looking For Trouble! by OYBMEND: 1:05pm On May 25, 2009 |
I think what we need to do is to develop a political wing for MEND and shoot less bullets if a political party called MEND sweeps Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta then we can take the central Government to court for Devolution of some powers to the region no need for bullets except it is absolutely necessary The current PDP Governors seem to be confused where they stand whether . . . . do they stand for Ijaw Kindom? or for Nigeria |
Politics / Re: Yaradua Is Guilty Of Genocide In Ijaw Land by OYBMEND: 10:05am On May 21, 2009 |
what MEND needs right now is to sponsor a Political Wing led by mainstream politicians because by the time you have Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa being run by MEND political wing as Governors and LGA chairman. . . . . . .while the Militants exist as a MILITARY wing of MEND providing local security to the local Political leaders . . . . the central government will have to come to the table with a better deal. So that you will not just have boys kidnapping Oyibo people, the Political wing can as well take the central Government to court to challenge why we are practicing a Federal System of Government and yet resouces are controlled at the centre. By that PDP will be expelled from the delta . . . . . and the central government will be further Isolated making it dificult to crack the MEND Military wing. |
