Dating And Meet-up Zone / Should You Move In With Him? by pamelastit(f): 1:00pm On Aug 30, 2008
As most people know, I had a blast talking to Ekene Onu on SARFMRADIO about a month or so ago. For those that followed that interview, we did talk about her book and ended up discussing relationships particularly from the Diasporan African perspective. I was so impressed that her answers were not the standard cookie cutter African woman answers but rather her answers showed an awareness of Africans in the diaspora, the expectations of Africans, knowledge, humor and most importantly wisdom.

I knew it was time to bring back the Lovers Lounge after my brief hiatus but I knew that it needed more of a vavavoom, I reached out to Ekene because of the reasons I mentioned earlier. I also reached out to L.A also known as Brown Suga, a co worker on SARFMRADIO. Brown Suga will be bringing in a modern day edge to the show. I reached out to Brown because I loved her bluntness and I knew she will say it as she saw it. We, three, dare I say it, independent women will be hosting a show every last Saturday of the month from 3pm -4pm (Eastern Standard/NY Time). Please, listen. I will love to know what your thoughts are and if you could call in and participate - that will be great.

The numbers are 212 283 3866 and 1877 SARFM35. You can also send us an email at
thelovedoctors@bigstring.com. (yes, cheeky and quaint).

Hello People,

I am just following up on the email I sent either last week or two weeks ago. We are holding a second cyber competition in which you get a chance to tell your love story. For many of us, it could be how we met that special one, how we lost that special one,or maybe it is a story of unrequited love. You could also tell a story about your siblings, friend, valentine's day isn't only for lovers you know.

The beautiful thing about this competition is that you get to share these feelings via prose, poetry, and MULTIMEDIA (you can tell I am excited about it, gearing up to go),

Visit the site for more details and PLS, PASS IT ON.

We want this one to rock like the first one did.

Pammy

Just a brief follow up: the little girl that won, has gone on to win other writing competitions in her home country and in surrounding countries. So we can do this. We can make this rock!!

The whole answer lies in the perceived marketability of igbo movies.

People stop insulting yourselves,
TV/Movies / Re: No More Igbo Movies: Why? by pamelastit(f): 9:11pm On Jan 05, 2008
Am I being tribalistic to ask these questions? I wonder.

Look - when you go to izogn movies and other websites that sell Nollywood movies in the states or cater to the Nollywood loving Audience- they always have English speaking movies and Yoruba movies. There is no igbo movie presented in these forums.

A couple of people are trying to sell that movies made in English are actually igbo movies but I beg to differ.

When I say Igbo movies - I mean movies in Igbo language and probably subtitled in English.

I believe there is a market for it, afterall, Living in Bondage which was an igbo movie and subtitled in English was a movie that really started shaking things out in the Nigerian movie industry.

So what is going on with the younger generation? Is it an issue of shame or what

My intention is not to start the new year on a tribalistic note - abegi, it is 2008 and time for Nigerians to wake up and smell the coffee, but I have a question

a) Are Igbo movies still being produced in Nigeria. Everywhere I turn, there are Yoruba movies in Yoruba language, I can't find Igbo movies in Igbo language, what is up with that?

Well, apart from slave warrior which kicked ass- (great movie, must see),

So what is going on?
/
\\
Is it that Igbo people prefer to produce movies in other languages outside of theirs?

Or is the Igbo movie just not marketable?

If the second is the case - why is it?

African gospel.

So I got a chance to listen to 6 team a Nigerian gospel group and I instantly fell in love with their track and their style of singing. I see this team really setting the gospel music scene on fire?

So what do you think?

Can you recommend other Nigerian/ African gospel music artists?
