All these people arguing on irrelevant things should stop, rather argue on the basis of performance of the government.

Whether Nsukka or Nike or Nkanu or Agbaja or ishi-uzo doesn't matter. What matters now is his performance. What did he promise us in 100 days, 180 days, a year, two years. These timelines has he been able to keep to them?

These should be our focus nothing else. If we start going by these divisions, then it makes no sense.

The people of amechi awkunanaw recently protested, nchatancha Nike also did the same some time ago. Amechi idodo also recently protested, anyone who knows Enugu to an extent knows how close idodo is to owo mbah's hometown.

So I believe we've gone past that stage as a state. Enugu belongs to everybody both indigenes & non indigenes.

There is a problem sha, you seem to consider roads as the only sign of work.
Another issue is that you're complaining about traffic because of all the work happening but also advocating for more roads. You just said the existing inner roads have all been broken, yet also saying even more should have undergone the same treatment to ease traffic.

Anyway, the solution I see is that they need to double down on these existing constructions and finish them make we see whether traffic will ease.

I don't consider roads as the only sign of work,at the same time we have to tell ourselves the truth.

I've been in Enugu throughout last week & I've been asking what exactly is he doing?

There's no water in Enugu, what they did was largely cosmetic because there's actually no water, people still buy water or use wells.

Imagine 'water galleries' in this modern times, this is Enugu for God's sake & not one rural state like that. Former capital of Eastern region,Imagine that disgrace.

Is it now security? People were kidnapped in uzo-uwani last week, isi Uzo was in the news recently for an attack.

Enugu deserves better!

The flag off was in October & since then they've not completed a single road. I want you to understand something, both Otti & mbah came in the same day.

If you can't complete a road on time don't bother spoiling it. From what I've seen, they dug gutters & left it. Enugu urban has a very good road network but the roads are not tarred.

Do you know there's a road from golf phase2 to new-gra down to Nike area, near that federal government estate. Very large residential area but low population because of bad roads.

If he's not interested in working the roads immediately, don't spoil the existing ones. The only road currently under construction is that Onitsha expressway & it's not done by the state.

Please eh if there's any thing he has done that we are not seeing please say.

Yeah fingers crossed. Otti got some constructions completed, but Otti started months before Peter Mbah as well.

I think everyone here can agree on something,
Mbah has seriously underperformed. We were hoping that he'll focus on Enugu urban & attempt to make Enugu better, but we can't point to a thing that he has done.

A tale of two governors, from the private sector Otti & Mbah. Sworn in the same day,& you can notice a stark contrast between the two. Within 8 months Enugu has been stagnant while Abia is already on the move.

Sometimes I ask my self what exactly is mbah doing? I even try to make excuses for him that he's just new in govt, but this was a former commissioner that should understand the workings of governance better than Otti but it doesn't seem to be so.

The remaining good roads In Enugu urban are already getting bad. Heavy duty vehicles now ply the inner city roads causing gridlocks everywhere. A typical 20 minute journey now takes one hour or even more during the rush hours.

A normal government would have started constructing alternate roads & bridges immediately after that bridge collapse, connecting premier layout to emene express & from independence layout to new Haven to extension.

Accessing abakpa- ugwogo is now harder, because while MTN are constructing the Onitsha expressway, the inner roads were just destroyed in the guise of construction. Leaving commuters to few roads thereby causing 'go slow'.

Dhamija is bad, dental road is bad ugbene 2 road is even worse, alulu abandoned. If these roads were good there would be no need to drive to t junction. Imagine abakpa with all its population using one road.

Amechi with a single lane, the gridlock is so frustrating,so i ask again what exactly is mbah doing?

Projects Galore as Mbah Flags off Construction of New Enugu City, 40km dual carriageway, 71 Urban Roads
It was projected galore, Thursday, as the Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, flagged off the construction of New Enugu City roads made up of 17km dual carriageway and feeder roads, 40km Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Neke-Ikem dual carriageway, and the construction/reconstruction of 71 urban roads in Enugu capital city.
At the Premier Layout road project awarded to IDC Construction Limited where he carried out the symbolic flag-off of the construction/reconstruction of 71 urban roads, Mbah assured that the urban roads would be simultaneously executed and delivered before the end of December.
“These 71 roads as identified in the first phase will be completed between now and December. The funds for these roads have been secured. So, there is no reason the contractors will not complete these roads as and when due. We are not going to entertain any variation, any delay or time overrun because the funds will be provided and we will ensure that we put in place a close monitor to ensure not only that the standards we have agreed are met, but also that the timelines are met strictly.
“We are also providing the highest quality of roads. We are all making sure that the roads are well-paved. You are not going to have open drainage so that you will have pedestrian parts well paved, you will have streetlights and roads that will last us a long time”, he stated.
At the flag-off of the New Enugu City roads project, which sits on 10,000 hectares of land off Enugu-Abakaliki Road and traverses Enugu East, Enugu North, Enugu South, and Nkanu West LGAs, Mbah reiterated his administration’s determination to restore Enugu to its number one position in Nigeria and beyond.
He said the project being handled by China Communication Construction Company, CCCC, would rub shoulders with any great city in the world, stressing that “we will have a functional New Enugu City between now and the next 24 months”.
“We are here not only to witness the construction of a road, we are here to witness the construction of infrastructure. In this New City, we are going to have a dedicated power project, a central sewage system, high-speed internet, and there is hardly anything you will find in any modern smart city that you will not find in this City”.
He said the first phase of the project would cover 26 square kilometres comprising the Happy Island, the Vitality Bay, and the Innovation Park in line with the purposes the New City is to serve.
Also flagging off the construction of the 40km Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu- Neke-Ikem dual carriageway, the governor said the new government was bent on constructing at least 10,000km of roads in the next eight years to open the space for investors and make life better for Enugu people.
“This 40km dual carriageway road is going to be a major gateway to the North Central and it is going to open up our rural areas.
“Recall that we said we are going to unlock our rural economy and the best way to do that is to ensure that we have access roads to our farmlands and we will also create special economic zones in our rural areas. But we are not thinking about agriculture as food only, but also as export commodities”.
Mbah said put at 400km the total length of roads flagged off for construction in the first phase of the government’s quest to build 10,000km of roads.
Speaking, the contractors, including the Deputy Managing Director of CCCC Nigeria, Henry Li, assured the government of first-rate projects and early competition.
“As the contractor entrusted with this significant undertaking, we recognise the responsibility that comes with it. We pledge our unwavering commitment to delivering the benchmark road on time and with the highest quality”, he stated.
Meanwhile, the overjoyed communities, who trooped out with their leaders, including traditional rulers, and council chairmen, thanked the governor for the massive projects, promising to cooperate with both the government and contractors to ensure speedy and hitch-free completion of the projects.

They are just rigging this election, even with voters intimidation PDP didn't even do well. If MBA eventually wins we all know that it wasn't the will of Enugu.

The funny thing here is PDP are rigging without sense. I saw one result in nkanu where 138 was changed to 738 and the accredited votes was still 138. How can a party score more votes than the accredited votes in a ward.

It's unfortunate that the judiciary isn't what it should be if not we shouldn't be bothered.

Peter Mbah might eventually win Edeoga but my happiness is that enugu is no more a one party state.

This analysis have shown you are on ground. Thank you. This is an unbiased analysis.

Peter Mba has a rich CV, I'm pleasantly surprised.

Hopefully we get to see them debate before the elections.

Unfortunately you're right about Frank Nweke, infact my friend said only New Haven, Ind Layout, GRA and Trans Ekulu will vote for Frank cry

I live here & there are many people like me who won't vote for him and he's not yet serious

Also I wonder why Nwakaibeya's past is shrouded in secrecy. No one knows what he does for a living. I have friends who are his supporters and all 4 of them don't know how he made his money. The only thing they say is that he's close to Uzodinma.

MBA for me even though he's pdp remains the best candidate with a very strong cv but the problem with him is the baggages he comes with, chimaroke, gburus & in fact the whole ebeano stuff plus his stint as commissioner & chief of staff with efcc chasing after him.

Secretly I'm seriously hoping that he successfully pulls a Sullivan on them & just focus on serious development.

FNJ to me still feels like he's fake, with a party that popular in the east, he's just there & not serious with making moves in Enugu.
I feel he's just the mole in APGA just to hold the fort moreover,he still remains ebeano so all these posturing are just formalities. He'll get just few votes in Enugu urban

Edeoga is just uninspiring with not very notable achievements as a 2 time commissioner and a career politician since the1990s I just like that he just decided to challenge them & he's the only real opposition in the state. He also has the isiuzo sympathy going on for him.

In South-east we would cry marginalisation but still go on to marginalise even in our own state. until then we can't move forward.

Nnaji is just to fill up apc slot in Enugu but he has actually impressed me in a short while with grassroots campaigns here and there with uzodimma and "structure" He can only contest the 3rd place with FNJ, because he's relatively unknown

Obviously MBA would eventually win but I hope another party wins a position whether state or national assembly at least Enugu would sit up.

Like digitron said
1 MBA,
2 Edeoga
3 FNJ & Nnaji would struggle for it (my opinion)

I share your sentiments too.

But we all know how sentiments shape our elections.

On paper, Peter Mbah is far ahead of others, but there are many changing dynamics that may influence the outcome.

1. Enugu North has 53% of the registered voters in the state. In the last election, they produced 49% of the total votes cast. For emphasis, Nsukka LGA alone had more voters than Nkanu West and East combined.

The challenge is that Ugwuanyi, who should be Mbah's chief marketer in the zone, has lost his popularity for two reasons.

a. His decision to go to the senate against the zoning arrangement in the zone. By convention, Igbo Eze South should produce the next senator of the zone.

b. Concentration of political positions and projects in his LGA alone, at the expense of the zone's interests. For example, if the PDP wins the gubernatorial and senate elections next year, Udenu would have produced:

i. A governor for 8 years (Ugwuanyi).
ii. A deputy governor (Mbah's running mate Ifeanyi Ossai is from Ezimo in Udenu
iii. A serving senator (uguwanyi)

For Project, Udenu alone has the following:
A new state University at Orba; A campus of the State polytechnic at Ezimo; A Teaching Hospital at Orba; A General Hospital at Orba.

2. The changing political dynamics. Ugwuanyi's perceived poor performance is forcing a lot of people to look for alternatives.

3. The Nkanu Factor: Three of the four leading candidates are from Nkanu land (Mbah from the East and Frank and Nnaji from the West).  For their deputy, all three of them (Mbah, Frank, and Nnaji) chose theirs from the North, while Edeoga chose his deputy from Enugu West (Oji River). All being equal, If Edeoga works hard, he could capture the North and if his deputy is able to deliver the West, it may just be over.

But then we can't underestimate the depth of Enugu PDP structure. I still do not see any party springing a surprise in 2023.

Nice analysis,I think this is most realistic & unbiased view

I still think that serious opposition is needed in Enugu. PDP's dominance should be challenged

Yeah this one is better, but I still don't see the need or functionality of the lobby.

If possible remove the Walls between the lounge and the lobby.

That lobby would be very dark and very unnecessary. Since you are managing the plot, there's no need for plenty details.

The boldest part. SouthEast keeps thinking and saying it is their turn. What turn? You compete. When you competed and you produced Zik the first black president of Nigeria, no one said anything. Ibos keeps bullying everyone, and also use self pitying as a means to Aso rock. You dont get to be a leader when you cannot negotiate. A leader is not born where chaos is. Ibos are know to create chaos recently by bullying everyone. Learn to negotiate. Sit with other regions and discuss like a group who is reasonable. This is politics. You must participate in it. If you continue losing, there is something you need to correct. The issue of fairness does not come in. Be fair with others too.

Were ibos fair when they butchered Ahmadu Bello of the north and left his corpse in the street? This is why the north cannot forgive the ibos. They started this war with the north. And they must face the consequences. Rather that their leaders to rally round and seek peace, they want to bully everyone. Obasanjo went to SS and picked an Ijaw man because he knows an ibo man is a bad market.

The same bad market Atiku carried in the last election. I just laughed at Atiku when he picked Peter Obi. Lol. Mehn! Atiku dulled himself.

I do not hate ibo, but they need to understand it is a competition. Nothing is fair when losing, but everything is fair when winning. Let ibo compete excellently and team up well. The president of Nigeria must be able to convince the whole nation. Of course, the only weak area of Buhari is the "dictatorship and sharia" character in him. One way or the other, he was able to deceive everyone by teaming up with Tinubu, and they used Osinbajo as the glue to patch up his mess. Of course, he has shown his real self. My point is that rather than talking about fairness, ibos should compete.

Lastly, a culture which disregards mothers and women cannot prosper. Let me tell you something, if ibo wants to lead, let them choose a female as the presidential candidate. Just ask the ibo men. Lol You will see the real reason they aren't fit. A culture or group of people who disrespects those who brought us into this world cannot prosper. It is a curse which is following the ibos. Let the ibos break this curse by erasing that barbaric way of life which makes the first son the alpha and omega in each family. This is a shi.t and a me.ss in their way of life. Women are heroes. Making the first son the ONLY legitimate child is a barbaric culture and this is the curse following ibos. Their women keep cursing them everytime even till date, and they arent aware of it.

Goodluck to the ibos as they bully us into making them the next president of Nigeria by force. The men are their problems. Give us an ibo lady as the presidential candidate of Nigeria, and I will gladly vote for her. Ngozi Iweala and late Dora Akiliyu are two women Nigeria will never forget. Never. Kalu is joking, he cannot be the president of Nigeria. Never and Never.

Bros calm down with this Igbo bashing and hatred,
Using Anambra state for example,
"a culture which disregards mothers and women cannot prosper"

That Same culture produced
The first female governor in Nigeria, Virgy Etiaba,
Currently 66% of Senators from Anambra are women.
The Ministerial slot for the South East is held by a woman from Anambra.
Even in Enugu state the deputy governor is a woman who previously represented her constituency in the state house of assembly.

Tell me your State and let me know whether your state has ever "disregarded" women like this in a male dominated sector like politics.

Do you even have a female senator?
Name one high ranking woman in your state (she might even be a Perm Sec who got there due to the level playing field the civil service provides)

So everytime you try to sound like this, know you are just being hateful or maybe bias.

Family / Re: The Hate For Single Moms by Phantomhilz: 8:58pm On Oct 28, 2020
See fellas let's face the reality, the real world isn't the ideal world.

Let's be honest to ourselves, there is actually no hate on single mums rather,an obvious bias or preference that favours a lady without child.

Marriage comes with a lot of baggages and no one wants an extra burden. Right from childhood, watching nollywood movies, there is always that wicked stepmother.

One wonders why the wicked stepfather hardly exists. Some men wouldn't mind having a single mum as a partner, but then society plays a major role in this.No one wants "after one" ladies,it doesn't look nice.

Women should understand nature, that no matter what you'lld be the person with the baby bump. That should always be reverberating. The Man could decide to leave, and you bear the brunt of the deeds of two people.

Abstinence is key, know that no one can identify an expectant father Physically. We are humans and we sometimes fall into temptations but know this, for every action there's a reaction.

This reaction brings in a human being into the world so before you lay down with that guy whether irresponsible or not, have a rethink. It would be of great help.

Abortion isn't an option!!!!
You both knew the possible outcome and allowed few minutes of "lust" to get you carried away.

If e hard you, orphanage still dey.

Helping a lady because she's a single mum doesn't cut it for me, rather help her because she's in need.

Ladies be wise.
