Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Phraser: 7:15pm On Jul 13 |
Hello. I’m new to the Canadian application process, and I need some pointers. One, how much is the proof of funds supposed to show for living expenses? Two, before applying for a visa, how much of the school fees does one need to have paid? It’s a one-year master’s program, and the tuition is about $7,000 CAD. Three, are there certain kind of universities that reduce one’s chances of getting a visa? I hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks. |

I keep getting this message, even when people say that dates are available. I’ve been previously denied a visa, but I chose “Regular,” as I was told that it will expedite my getting a date. Does anyone know why this message keeps showing, even when other people can see dates?

OyoTunjiUSA: Not “stressing” it, just pointing out that you, indeed, act like an agent, with your money-for-information gigs. It was necessary to point it out because you’ve previously tried to sell an inaccurate image of yourself. And now that that’s been said and done, ciao. 4 Likes 1 Share |

OyoTunjiUSA: “…who have collected millions from candidates.” How absurdly comical. You don’t need to lie, man. How could I have been a travel agent when I gave no indication of it, given I had asked many questions on the former thread about the visa application process? Doesn’t that suggest that I was a newbie? And if I were a travel agent who had “collected millions from candidates,” as you say, why then would I have needed information from you? To learn how to “collect BILLIONS”? As you can see, your defense falls flat against an assault of simple logic. And to answer the question of how I got your number, it’s simple: you gave it to me, as the screenshot shows. Just own up to the fact that you pose as a travel agent, and if you’ve asked me for payment, then it’s likely you’ve asked others. I don’t care about the morality of it—that’s for the moderators to decide, and, besides, people must eat—but the least you can do is to be honest about it. 3 Likes 2 Shares

justwise: Unfortunately I changed my phone since then, and so don’t have a screenshot of the conversations we had. And, to be specific, he had asked for payment over a phone call. However, here’s a screenshot of my reaching out to him on March 1. As you can see, it’s close to the time that I first learned about my admission, as the second image shows, and so I knew next to nothing about the process and was desperate for accurate information.

You once asked me, some 4 months ago, in a WhatsApp conversation, to pay you before you could give me some information about the visa application process. Doesn’t that make you a “travel agent”? OyoTunjiUSA: 1 Like |

Hello good evening. Please I need help with the DS-160 form: I don’t know who to say is paying for my trip. I got funding from my school (about $55k), while the rest of the expenses will be covered by my employer and a relative. So who do I say is paying for the trip? The school that’s providing most of the funding? Or my employer or relative? I hope to get responses soon because my interview is in a few days. Thanks. |

OyoTunjiUSA: Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it's not a big company and they don't have all the money I need in their bank account. |

fearlessfang: It's a 9-month master's program (in a top 20 school in the U.S/world), as stated on the I-20. I wish you would not be snarkily belligerent and just offer solutions. I have reservations about what to do, hence my question on this thread. Meaning I don't need to be reminded about the risks as I am aware of them. I just want suggestions or alternatives. Does presenting bank statements from the two sources work or not is the question. 1 Like |

fearlessfang: Thanks for the response. It's not a cooked-up story: I have someone—a U.S. citizen affiliated with my company—who will be giving me room and board. And my company is supporting me financially. If I understand you correctly, I simply need to present bank statements from my two sources of funding, that is from my company and the U.S. citizen? |

fearlessfang: Good evening. I need clarification on an issue. I got good funding, but my I-20 says I have a deficit of about $36,000. About $24,000 out of that $36,000 is for rent and food (the I-20 is based on the school's estimation; in reality I don't need that much for rent and food). I have someone in the U.S. (not a relative but my long-time mentor and an associate of my employer) who will let me stay in their apartment for free and give me food, and I will be telling the embassy this. My question: Do I need to show the embassy the bank account statement of the person providing me room and board? Or is it enough to show them a recent copy of the utility bill of the house I'll be living in? Note: To get the I-20, all I showed the school was a copy of the utility bill. I would appreciate your response. |

Hello. My I-20 says my program will last 9 months. Do I put 9 months or 1 year in the section of the DS-160 form that asks for how long I'll be staying in the U.S.? |

Is it possible to pay SEVIS fee online? I couldn't find a way to pay it online, so I had someone in the U.S. visit a Western Union branch; but he was told that he couldn't pay it on my behalf, that I had to be physically present before they can process the payment. This doesn't seem sensible. Could someone kindly explain how I can pay the fee, online if possible? |

Good evening all. Quick question: Which address do I put in the part of the DS-160 that asks for where I will be staying in the U.S.? I saw a YouTube video that said you should put your school's address, even if you have a place to stay in the US. I don't know how true this is. I would appreciate your timely responses. Thanks. |

Hello, guys. Does anyone know if GTB has updated the visa fee price? The last time I checked, it was 333,000 naira. Since they last updated it on March 1, I was thinking that they might do the same on April 1 and adjust it to fit the current exhange rate. Hoping to hear from y'all. Thanks. |

Thanks. I'm not talking about completing DS-160, but about paying the visa fee at the bank. Does the bank ask for any information on the DS-160 or I-20? Mjosh1000: |

Somatohadidas: Hello. I trust you are well. Please I need your counsel. I want to know if, while awaiting the arrival of the I-20 form, I could pay the visa fee? Given the volatile exchange rate, I would like to pay the visa fee as soon as I can. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks. |

Lawal1555: Hello. You seem to know your stuff, so please humor me this: I am waiting for my I-20 Form to arrive, but in the meantime I would like to pay the visa fee and secure an interview date. I have been told that it is often hard to get an early date, thus my wanting to move on it as quickly as I can. My question: is it possible to both pay for the visa fee and book an appointment even before getting the I-20 Form? I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks. |
