The German scale is quite straightforward... You know in Nigeria, finishing with a 5.0 CGPA is first class whule on the German scale it would be a 1.0 (very good: an outstanding achievement) which is their highest attainable grade point.

So, the lower your CGPA is on the Nigerian scale, say 1.0/5.0, the higher it will be on the German scale, 5.0 (translated as insufficient / failed: an achievement which does not meet the requirements)

The rule of thumb is, the closer you are to the 1.0 mark the better... 3.5 on the German scale puts you at a serious disadvantage as it translates to "befriedigend" that is satisfactory (an achievement which corresponds to average requirements)

Hope this helps.

Very Helpful. Thank you.

Hello guys, I noticed something worrying while converting my CGPA to German standard, a lower Nigerian CGPA gives a higher German CGPA compared to when using a Higher Nigerian CGPA. Can someone help me clear this confusion or am I doing something wrong?

I got 4 admissions this summer without IELTS...It has nothing to do with Ielts ...Since tie schools have already told you you can apply without ielts
One more thing bro did you submit any document for the language proficiency or was it just your university transcript?

Hello house, I’m new here. I’ve been checking out schools and emailing them. I asked if my transcript was enough as proof of English language proficiency since it’s written on it that English was my language of instruction or must I write IELTS. Five of the schools got back to me saying this was enough proof while the others said I needed IELTS. My question, even as they’ve told me my transcript is enough proof do you think not having an IELTS score will reduce my chances of getting admitted to these schools? Is it possible to gain admission without an IELTS certificate? Thank you.
