Culture / The Prevailing Issue Of Child Abuse In Nigeria by Pnuggets: 4:12pm On Nov 13, 2021
Tolu grew up In one of those houses where everyone was in each other business. Yet, It didn't make any difference. It didn't make a difference when push came to shove. Whenever people saw any form of abuse, they didn't see it as a big deal. It was “normal”! Why would they ever complain about something as normal as “soaking cane inside pepper” in order to use it on a child?

Sometimes, I felt like it was a competition among them. As if parents were trying to show who was better at instilling fear.
Who knows? They might have felt that way!

What would you do if you had no one to call? You are lonely, everyone knows what you are going through but it feels like no one gives a shit? Have you ever thought “Maybe if God gave me someone else as my parent, My life wouldn't turn out the way it is? “. These were similar thoughts of some of the people I interviewed for this article. Their story prompted my writing about child abuse.

Jesse Jagz, on 29th of May 2020, released a 5 tracked EP and I have received several requests for me to review GARBA. On this note, i have decided to review the album. Before listening, i was very curious about this new project considering the fact that Jesse Jagz last released an album Odysseus in 2017.

Culture / Why I Would Rather Listen And Talk With A Deaf Person. by Pnuggets: 2:13pm On May 20, 2020
You will understand my reasons as you read further. A deaf person is someone who has totally or partially lost his ability to hear. This makes it challenging for them to communicate and understand people effectively. It is for this reason they make use of sign language and lip reading. They rely on reading of lips as well as sign languages in order to understand what is being said to them. Understanding what is being said to them usually requires their utmost concentration and most times they have to try and read body languages in order to fully comprehend what is fully going on; skill that most people who are not deaf choose to be oblivious to.

In having conversations with a deaf person, you are able to get someone who will listen to you carefully (although they can't hear you) but they listen. The listening skill is a simple skill one that many people are too impatient to have. They appear like they are giving you attention but the truth is, most times they wander away into their own thought. Some do not even realise they have done this. Let me give you a scenario, imagine telling someone about the new bag you just bought and all the design details it has, they may begin to ask themselves why they haven't even remembered to get themselves that thing they need badly. How does one interpret the true information that is given out subconsciously but not said? How do you listen to what someone is not saying with their mouth?

TV/Movies / My Unbiased Review Of Miracle In Cell No. 7 (turkish Version) by Pnuggets: 4:35pm On May 05, 2020
The story line centers around a young girl, Ova (Nisa Sofiya Aksongur) and her father, Memo (Aras Bulut Iynemli) who is a shepherd in Turkey. Memo has a cognitive disorder however he still manages to have a very interesting relationship with his daughter, making use of interesting words, slangs and terms which becomes their personal way of understanding themselves. Initially confused as to why her father acted differently from other parents, Ova questions her “Nana”. Her Nana replies by saying “Your father is the same age as you”. Ova’s father, Memo because of his condition, sees the world differently. You can attest to this in a scene when Ova pointed at the sky and asked her father to tell her what it was. People referred to him as a nitwit and felt that he had lost his senses. The movie progresses by introducing yet another main character, his mother who is referred to as “Nana”. “Nana” understands her son and has a lot of empathy when she looks at him.

Culture / Ami Ikorira (resentment) by Pnuggets: 6:32pm On Apr 17, 2020
There is a type of fragrance that opens all sort of doors while the other results to blockages as well as roadblocks in a person’s life . The fragrance that opens doors could turn the life of a person around, bring people around which could turn out to be helpers, acquaintances or friends. This type of fragrance makes people just fall in love with you , they just want to get to know you . In some cases,it makes you look or seem familiar to a total stranger ,it makes an undeserving person deserving in all ramifications. This type of fragrance is what the Christians refer to as “grace” , the traditionalist would call it “Aajo”.

The other type of fragrance however has a fowl smell. It repels individuals from a particular person affected by it . It’s a type of fragrance that’s not seen but the effects are seen and can be perceived , can be felt and ultimately has very extensive impact on the life of an individual. It is what the Yoruba’s call “Ikorira” (hatred), the igbo’s call it “Ikpoasi” while the Hausa’s call it “Kiyayya”
Have you ever just heard someone just say that they hate someone for no good reason? And you begin to ask yourself why this is so? Ordinarily it’s not like they are threatened by this person they hate or are envious of them. They just claim that there’s more to it in which they have no explanation for. Some call it Ami buruku (evil sign) ;there is usually a perpetrator and the other person who is at the receiving end .

Emphatically, it can be deposited into a person’s life spiritually , some get this fragrance as a result of where they have visited or other practices, it can also be gotten through sex with someone afflicted by it or going to a place for some kind of spiritual help . Some suffer from this as a result of their family background . In this case , there is usually a repetitive order of events in which almost / all the family lineage has at one time passed through .
Other times, this particular fragrance could destroy or damage important relationships. This is sometimes the case of either sexes losing people really dear to them. Broken marriages, broken relationships and so on . It’s important to note that there’s usually a million other reasons for breakup or things not going in accordance to how we want them. There are different types of fragrances and there’s no doubt that every individual would want the type that favors him or her . There is a fragrance of fear , a fragrance of importance , a fragrance of change , a fragrance of joy , a fragrance of hatred , fragrance of courage .

Romance / The Seduction (only If) Part 2 by Pnuggets: 5:06pm On Apr 11, 2020
It was already day three of him being at my place and me having to take the job of a care giver . He was visibly better. Although, that didn’t stop me from looking after him all through the night . I was really worried about him . As i watched him doze off, i traced the edges of his face with my hands and moved closer to his side of the bed . His face was a bit lean and warm. As i continued, his eyelids gently opened and gazed deep into my eyes. It felt like he could see through my soul. I softly whispered ”Do you want a massage ?”. I didn’t wait for a verbal yes, i could see the affirmation through his eyes instantly . So i began to gently massage him, few minutes into the massage, i knew it was time for me to stop before it went further into something else . With the aim of trying to deescalate the tension, i asked ” How is Sade ? “. Haha! the look on his face was priceless. “what about her? i told you i already finalized everything but you have decided not take my words for it ” . “ I know! i’m just trying to understand the situation of things. At some point i would have to face her and explain my side of the story” i responded.

I have been avoiding Sade for weeks now . She has been my friend for a very long time, she deserves to be told the whole truth. How can i possibly face her and tell her that i didn’t mean to fall for Boye? How can i possibly tell her that he means the world to me and we had been in love for years? He didn’t seem to care much about it and there was a part of me that has been scared since the whole situation began. Of course ! I was scared, who wouldn’t be ? I had been memorizing the speech i was going to give her for days now. Deola !! he called out to me . ” Where did your mind wander to ?” .” Nowhere ! I’m here with you” i answered. He pulled me closer and kissed me gently and i began to kiss him back . We were supposed to be watching a newly released episode of Money Heist but here we were doing all sorts of things with our lips not thinking about a thing in the world .

Music/Radio / How To Love Yourself (demi Lovato’s I Love Me) by Pnuggets: 2:37am On Apr 09, 2020
Hello guys! I trust you all are keeping safe? I have decided to write on how to love one's self but then i thought to myself. What better way to do this than to use Demi Lovato's "i love me'' song? I love me was released on the 6th of March 2020 as part of her lead single from her seventh upcoming studio album . I know that you have probably seen and read several articles on self love as well as movies portraying the importance of self love. However, i have decided to adopt an unusual style by using Demi's single which tells a fascinating story about her struggles with narcotics, depression and criticisms.

The 3:26 seconds song contains two (2) verses and a bridge which was written by Demi and other writers.
The music piece tells a fascinating story about her personal experience and struggles. In Verse 1, she sings and tells us a story about how she often gets influenced by what she reads and sees in the magazines and how it dictates her life and image. Saying it has shined light on her imperfections rather than her potentials and talent .She addresses her eating habits and bad choices as well as not having control over it . She criticizes herself for being an expert in giving love to somebody else rather than herself. In the chorus, she condemns herself for comparing herself to everyone while self destructing (maybe alluding her struggles with drugs and alcohol). She continues to talk about her journey with looking for love; a kind of love she described as " ride or die'' .

Health / Covid 19: China Makes, We Take by Pnuggets: 4:12pm On Apr 03, 2020
A lot of noise has arisen from the discussion as to whether China is responsible for the outbreak of the corona virus or if they are at the wining side of this viral eruption. Looking back , we would see that China is not a newcomer when it comes to viruses .They have been majorly criticized for their media censorship and propaganda . Afore the covid 19 virus, there was the SARS virus in which China was said to have repeated the same thing which is masking the truth from the whole world. The Covid 19 virus which began in Wuhan China started in November 2019 and was kept on the low for months . Beijing even went further to dish out punishments on anyone who spoke out .

China has a long history of cover-ups and this is evident in the lack of dispersal of information and transparency about the pandemic on the part of the Chinese authorities. Looking back , China covered up the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), another type of corona virus for over a month after it emerged in Guangdong Province in 2002 and held the doctor who blew the whistle in military custody for over 45 days . The disease affected over 8000 people in 26 countries. It’s been 17 years and China still had a fatal period of hesitation. Having the right information indeed helps people to get in front of this virus . This is why Thailand and South Korea took nothing to chance immediately after the outbreak of the covid 19 learning from what happened 17 years ago .

Politics / Covid 19: Where Is Our President ? by Pnuggets: 2:58pm On Mar 28, 2020
This has been the question in the mouths of thousands of Nigerians since the outbreak of the covid 19 outbreak in Nigeria . Unlike other countries such as Canada , China , United States of America japan ,France , United States and others in africa such as Tanzania , Ghana, South Africa, Liberia whose President have publicly addressed them from time to time . It’s been a different ball game in Nigeria as President Muhammad Buhari has only addressed the nation on the viral outbreak once which was on the 22nd of March 2020 through a 23 seconds video.( Yes . That same one where he pronounced the outbreak as covik 1-9 ).The number of confirmed cases in Nigeria has risen to 81 as there are 11 cases ,8 of which were discovered in Lagos while two were discovered in Enugu and one in Edo state while 3 have been discharged.

An uproar of the whole situation became pronounced with the announcement of his chief-of-staff Abba Kyari having tested positive to corona virus. This has led so many Nigerians to believe that the president has either been infected or has gone into hiding at this very crucial period . Leaving his aides to address the nation in his absence. Some are of the view that the president is totally oblivious to the happenings in the country during this very volitile period . Amidst this, has been the rumor that the president and his chief of staff are presently not in the country as they had sneaked into the United Kingdom for standard health care treatment.( nothing has been said about this,we are patiently waiting for them to either admit or refute this)

The covid 19 virus (otherwise known as the Coronavirus) that originated in Wuhan, China is a pandemic that has disrupted the world at every level. It has brought fear, crisis, distress, anxiety, worry, complete shutdown of various industries and economy and even death. Just like the arrival of its cousin the “Spanish flu” in 1918. it is not something that has been prepared for and the survival rates seem to be dependent on factors such as the strength of one’s immune system, rapid response in treating the respiratory disease as well the health system in place.

As at the time of writing this article the world health organization (WHO) report indicated that as of March 22 ,2020 Nigeria has only tested 152 people with a record of 40 persons being positive which represents 26% while South Africa has only tested 15,000 with about 702 positive cases representing about 5%. With these figures, it is left to us to try and protect ourselves, stay safe and adhere to strict precautions. As of today 26th of March 2020, there are 51 cases (2recovered and 1 death) and only 178 people have been tested out of 200 million. There is no doubt that the Nigerian government has a lot to do in these trying times.

Romance / The Seduction(only If...) by Pnuggets: 2:47pm On Mar 14, 2020
To be fair, I had been ignoring his calls all through the week but it wasn’t because I was upset with him but because I couldn’t help but feel guilty . I felt guilty because I knew I liked him and was head over heels for him but was not allowed to have him. “What a world !” I muttered under my breath I couldn’t give him the love he so desperately craved for. I thought I was going to be successful at zoning him out of my mind and never in a gazillion years expected to see him at least not until some few weeks time.

Who was i kidding ?.I barely listened in class, even during the training session i attended throughout the week. All I could think about was what occurred between us the last time we saw . I had been trying to block the thought of him from my mind for days now and I had failed woefully . He nudged closer to me and as soon as he did i could perceive his cologne and I felt a rush of excitement .

He had the most perfect set of dentition and his breath smelled like a fresh minty lemony paste (i began to ponder as to what brand he used lol.) . What could this be ? Is my heart trying to tell me something? Could this be lust? why am i having this intense urge to be held by him , to collapse in his hands with passion or is this a mere avenue for my heart to get some form of excitement which it so desperately craved for? . He moved closer and held me by the waist....

Next time you decide to ride again, try to take to heart these warnings...
1...Dont assume you own the vehicle
2...dont assume the driver is your paid employee
3....dont assume your life is more important than the life of the driver.
4...always sit at the back sit and not focus entirely to what the driver is doing..they are equally safety conscious as you.
The idea you can control your driver is very common among our people especially the ladies and it's a bad habit. In abroad, you dont have to talk to your uber driver when you feel hes wrong, there is a comment box you can post your comment and the company will do the rest.correcting or giving drivers orders are plain wrong and should be discouraged.
The driver is a very nice gentleman.
Ok when you are “in the abroad” and your uber driver removes his hands from the steering more than twice don’t say anything just go to the “comment box” and post your comment and let the company do the rest you hear . Let me also add that you shouldn’t focus on the driver you can sleep off while he smokes or drinks .

Please ensure you heed my advice o smiley smiley!!
