Yes beside the future - these streets will be made car-free -- as more cities will embrace walking and cycling!
AfroCircus:

Those are the feeder roads, no different n size to New York's 4th Avenue feeders if you've been there. European cities with a much higher density than Africa have even narrower streets. But people rush there on holiday because of good PR and they're very well maintained

Lagos is naturally dirty, I don't think if there is any city in the world that compete with it in that sector.

What is with African countries and these narrow streets in city centers? This isn't too future proof considering Africa's future population boom.
Africa is not looking to make it city centers, car zones.

Europe is busy getting rid of cars from it city centers to make it more livable

Yap, that's the general trend the world over. More however needs to be put up in terms of rail and bike lanes

For anyone who's been to Lagos Island which, appears to be a premier business district in the city, its street view can't match Nairobi's CBD. Nairobi's downtown area 'behind archives' as described by someone even seems like a strong match for this uptown lagos business district. Below are GSV pics of this area

Tom Mboya Street, the main street of downtown that snakes behind archives

Then going to even much smaller and insignificant streets;

Mfangano street, a feeder to Ronald Ngala, which feeds Tom Mboya. It's located in the interior of downtown, or as called out before, area "behind archives".

And Below it is Sheikh Karume road, deep in that area "behind Archives" and too small & insignificant to be labeled a street. It's a feeder to Mfangano, which feeds Ronald Ngala, which in turn feeds Tom Mboya

Cars can't be completely taken off the streets, that would make things like shopping quite cumbersome.

Hence why we need bike lanes.

All nice. But what is Ghana doing about it. Nairobi has Non Motirized Policy that is already being implemented
http://www.kara.or.ke/Nairobi%20NMT%20Policy%20Popular%20Version.pdf
Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has set aside Sh1.47 billion to expand non-motorized transport (NMT) within the capital aimed at enhancing walking spaces. The move is also geared towards encouraging Nairobians to start using bicycles,

According to Nairobi County Fiscal Strategy Paper for the financial year ending June 30, 2021, the NMT will cover 116 km and has been divided into three packages.

The first package will cover 36km spread in Eastlands with the first stretching from Jogoo Road to the CBD and divided into four corridors.

The Jogoo Road corridor covers 10km from Outer Ring-Jogoo-Landhies-Haile Selassie, with bicycle parking at the Kenya Railways station at Sh155 million.

The next one will also cover 10km at Sh155 million stretching from Juja Road to the CBD through Outer Ring-Ring Road Ngara-Racecourse and terminating at Ladhies roundabout.

The other one will be 6km at Sh93 million running from Mumias South Road through Rabai Road, across Kenya Railways lines to Tanga Road terminating at Lunga Lunga Road.

This will be joined by another one at Sh93 million covering 6km stretching from First Avenue Eastleigh (now Yusuf Haji Avenue) from Juja across Jogoo Road to Likoni up to Enterprise Road.

The last one at Sh62 million will run from Lunga Lunga Road to Likoni then connect to Outer Ring covering 4km.

The second package will cover 55km running from the CBD to Westlands then to Ngong Road with the first corridor covering 7km between Kibera and Industrial area running through Mbagathi-Langata-Lusaka Road and then Jogoo Road round-about at Sh108.5 million.

NMT will also be set up along Enterprise from Lusaka to Likoni road intersection covering 3km at Sh46.6 million.

The next one will be Kibera-Kilimani-Westlands corridor covering 15km starting from Kibera drive to Kenya Railway crossing–James Kangethe-NMT only route- Ring Road Kilimani-Kitale lane –Githunguri at Sh232.5 million.

Another 15 km of NMT will run from Kawangware to Kilimani then to the CBD. This will cover Gitanga-Ole Dume- Argwings Kodhek- Valley Roads terminating at Kenyatta Avenue at a cost of Sh232.5 million.

The last one will be Kawangware–Westlands/Waiyaki Way corridor also covering 15km at a cost of Sh232.5 million. It will run from Chalbi drive to Isaac Gathanju—Mugumo—Olenguruone–Ring Road Kileleshwa terminating at Ring Road Westlands.

The last package in the CBD will be fixed along Harry Thuku–Muindi Mbingu–Mama Ngina–Wabera–Taifa–Harambee–Tumbo–City Square Post Office—Workshop and then Industrial Area.

There will also be another corridor running from Upper Hill (community) through Uhuru Park–City Hall Way–Luthuli/Ronald Ngala–River Road–Landhies connecting to Jogoo Road.

The last bit will run from Aga Khan Walk–part of Harambee Avenue then Parliament Road and around the Holy family Basilica.

just having a policy in paper does not solve shit.

In Ghana, all traffic has been moved from neighborhoods to major roads.

You will be surprised to walk on public streets in neighborhoods and for 30 minutes, only 5 cars will come and pass you by.

It starts with policy - then goes into a plan - and it's implemented - I guess you got nothing or it part of BEYOND AID strategy smiley.

Nairobi for the last 2yrs has been implementing NMS - building walkways with bicyle lines.

All over Nairobi now - NMT (Non-Motorized Transport) - are laying red carbos line for bicycles - and the grey for pedestrian.

Now for Ghana - how do you move traffic from neigherbhood to major roads - using JUJU smiley smiley

You have no PLAN. No Policy. No implementation.

The bold part earmarks my point, certain parts. So what happens with the rest of the city where cars can go willy-nilly? Then the French policy bans cars from half the city-center on Friday's, so what happens during the rest of the week?

It's only a small portion of the French capital that's permanently car free. In fact, the largest car free zone in Europe is just a small portion around the Brussels' city square, its stock exchange, and Rue Neuve avenue.

Hence why bike lanes are important throughout the cities.

We have the Ghana national transportation plan

Which has introduced BRT in Accra and Kumasi, with the Kumasi Light Rail still under going feasibility studies.

Our National transportation plans have made car traffic moved onto major will leaving the middle of communities free of cars just like Barcelona is doing.

The only difference is, Ghana have not turn the roads in those communities into play grounds.

Good your NMS has now seen the future

The ease of doing business captures all that. Just say Tanzanians have no experience setting up business outside their country. Kenya has open door policy. Tanzania honestly cannot hack in Kenya - if South Africans companies cannot - please save your money and run. Kenya has brutal competition - and those that fail or find they cannot come - and get favours they normally get from banana republics - they start bad-mouthing kenya.

Setting up a company in kenya is easy and free for all - you don't need to see a minister or name - but be ready for competition.

There is a reason why our economy is a largest non-mineral economy in SSA - it down to a very strong private sector that is guaranteed to give you the most brutal competition.
