Nairobi streets are much better than any street in Nigeria, the problem with you is that any good picture from Kenya you claim that they are edited. Now I want you to also tell us that those Google map images are also edited.

Inform google to update their pics. Google map is not satellite images that are as current as it gets

Transportation plans do not make car traffic move....tell us how this has been implemented. Are you using FM stations to urge people to move their cars smiley or Juju.

Kenya has many plans - but for Nairobi metro - we have NAMATA that is pursuing BRT, Commuter Raila and NMT - Not idle talk - but there is progress in all these fronts.

Bus Rapid Transit System-A bus-based public transport system designed to improve capacity and reliability within the NMA.
Commuter Rail System -An integrated passenger rail transport service that primarily operates within the NMA metropolitan are connecting commuters to various locations.
Non-Motorised Transport-Increasing the use of bicycles and the ease of walking in urban environments that allow residents to easily access affordable public transit or to bike safely.

Just30:
We have the Ghana national transportation plan

Which has introduced BRT in Accra and Kumasi, with the Kumasi Light Rail still under going feasibility studies.

Our National transportation plans have made car traffic moved onto major will leaving the middle of communities free of cars just like Barcelona is doing.

The only difference is, Ghana have not turn the roads in those communities into play grounds.

Good your NMS has now seen the future

The bold part earmarks my point, certain parts. So what happens with the rest of the city where cars can go willy-nilly? Then the French policy bans cars from half the city-center on Friday's, so what happens during the rest of the week?

It's only a small portion of the French capital that's permanently car free. In fact, the largest car free zone in Europe is just a small portion around the Brussels' city square, its stock exchange, and Rue Neuve avenue.

Hence why bike lanes are important throughout the cities.
did you realize they moved cars out of 50% to 75% of the neighborhood?
Cars are driven on the exterior roads of the neighborhood which has been turn into major roads, while streets in neighborhoods have become mostly pedestrian area.

In Barcelona the reclaimed roads have not been converted to bike lanes but rather a pedestrian area that have play grounds and walk ways that bicycles can use.

So like I said, you don't need bike lanes especially when there are no cars on the street.

The ease of doing business captures all that. Just say Tanzanians have no experience setting up business outside their country. Kenya has open door policy. Tanzania honestly cannot hack in Kenya - if South Africans companies cannot - please save your money and run. Kenya has brutal competition - and those that fail or find they cannot come - and get favours they normally get from banana republics - they start bad-mouthing kenya.

Setting up a company in kenya is easy and free for all - you don't need to see a minister or name - but be ready for competition.

There is a reason why our economy is a largest non-mineral economy in SSA - it down to a very strong private sector that is guaranteed to give you the most brutal competition.

So you also want to say that South Africa, the country with more business investments outside her land can't set up a business in Kenya? Your system is flawed, just take the L and go sleep.

Public access buses and individual cars moves majority of traffic while leaving the middle of communities free for bikes and community members.

Proof that Kenyans are idiots. Reason this, if a company can thrive in every market except one and all markets have similar characters, the failing market is the one with problems. You guys like to complain about other nations doing you bad while you play the same dirty games. the sooner you accept the facts the less it will hurt in the future. The least I have seen from videos - you have a serious problem of hawking right into the walkways -

As for communities or estates - it mostly dirt unpaved roads.

Example - This Luthuli avenue Nairobi - one of busiest street - selling electronics - was converted into walkways - and matatus removed

This is hilarious to watch. It is a slap in the face to the Ghanaians on this thread who have been desperately trying to compare the great City of Nairobi to their little city Accra.

This Ghanaian vlogger was speaking his local language in the whole vlog but believe me I watched the whole thing. I got a rough idea of what he was saying in the few times he spoke a word of English. It is truly telling. The dude is ranting nonstop about how crap Accra is compared to what he was seeing in Nairobi.

Let's try to dissect the content of the two vlogs;
Basically this Ghanaian guy did the two vlogs in what looks like the areas around Kasarani, along Thika Superhighway. The dude was amazed by Garden City Mall. He said he had never seen anything like it in Accra. He also reminds his Ghanaian viewers that Nairobi alone has over 50 malls, while the whole of Ghana has less than 10. He also says that Kumasi, Ghanas' second city, doesn't even have a mall that can compare to the dozens of malls found in other Kenyan cities and towns.

He also talks about Housing. This Ghanaian YouTuber seems to be impressed by the public housing in Kenya. He was amazed by all the Apartment buildings he was seeing. This is just around Kasarani areas. He seems to wonder why Accra has not embraced this kind of affordable public housing like in Nairobi. Believe you me, this dude mentioned the word 'Apartment' like thirty times all in awe at the blocks of apartment buildings he saw in Kasarani .

He also says that in Ghana, potential tenants have to pay the whole rent six month or one year in advance. While in Nairobi you can find any house of your choice in a matter of minutes and all you need is your deposit and 1 month rent.

There is a lot more that the guy talks about that only Ghanaians can understand. I know the Ghanaians in this thread won't dare translate the complete content of the vlog or comment about it because it exposes the lies they have been trying to sell here all this while.

Our companies excel abroad - for our size of our economy - we are punching beyond our weight. Only TZ have their usual petty jealousy but elsewhere we are doing fine. It's really your loss - because Kenya companies could help unchain your from KABURU (boer) of South Africa.

Yes the Ghanians including their president already acknowledge Nairobi to be their north star. So this Vblogger was a little late. Their president is aware - and his Beyond AId Strategy - has Nairobi pic on it's cover.

I have never understood why housing would be such a challenge in West Africa.

Nairobi it's question of money - you have 10 dollars - or less - you go to slums - and find a hovel - straight away - you have 30 dollars - you go to pipeline or such areas - and have 1000 houses to see - the same for any income level - there are so many houses - for any price.

The highest deposit is 2 months - otherwise it's standard one month - water and electricity deposit - and you have a house - anytime anyhow.

Kenya house hunting is an afternoon affair - and you can move in the same day. You can land in the airport and have rented out a house the same day. There is almost TO LET sign everywhere.

It was done just by improving major access roads and closing off neighborhood roads by using a cul de sac planning for neighborhoods.

In Accra Central, each 6 by 4 grid planning blocks are car free and has been populated by pedestrians while leaving the exterior roads for cars.

It's good to see that your city authorities are now thinking and implementing plans with people in mind.

Doesn't quite make sense?
I guess it coz most of Kenya estates are already cul de sac...so in Accra you could drive through everywhere?

I find the care free and pedestrian had to belief.

What I have seen - is crazy market days - where hawkers are allowed to put their umbrellas on major roads and sell their wares.

So you still want to compare the small Nairobi to a historic city like Accra that best it in all things?

This is a Ghanaian taking part in a protest to put pressure on Government just like how we put pressure on all govt to make sure we get the best out of them.

This is how come we have become so developed.
By holding our leaders to account.

This guy was not even comparing anything in kenya to Ghana because there is very little to compare.

He was comparing his years of travel around the developed world to Ghana.

Contracts have already been awarded to redeveloped the interchange to remove the traffic there.

Kenya does not have any specific planning for it communities, no kenyan community has that kind of planning.

Ignoring the other balderdash - you have many slums - and secondly, slum is not where people do business - it's where they sleep. Slums are in South Africa - how can it miss in poor Ghana. The slums are reality until a country becomes developed (GDP per capita at least 12,000) or at best 20,000K.

Nobody cares about what you say. You should already know that. We care about WHAT emperical data SAYS
Secondly ALMOST the entire Ghana's Accra and Kumasi - are for me SLUMS - coz it informal - has no sewage - no roads - and look really shady

But here is quick google search -About 45% of Accra residents live in some form of slum housing. These areas are overcrowded, have limited access to piped water and poor sanitation facilities. ... Old Fadama is the largest informal settlement in the city of Accra.

Approximately 5.5 million people live in slums in Ghana.

Nonsense this doesn’t represent Lagos. Go tell google update their images. We all sat here and watched videos on Lagos cbd and that sure so t what we saw in most of this street the drive through showed.
If you're talking of the video from 3 pages back, that's the main road linking MMA and Lagos Island, a highway.

Give us names of those upmarket streets in Lagos and we'll look em up
