Now tell me how can we progress when we were comparing very useless vs useless. If and only if our selfish brothers had all voted APC in 2015, then PDP would've been DEAD by now. Then in 2019, we would've seen how useless APC is also cos they will have nothing to compare against since PDP is not in the picture, then we can all easily see how useless APC is, then guess what we would've gotten an alternative and progressed to a better party (not APC) in 2019. The Federal Government recently reassured Nigerians that 156.65 kilometres, Lagos - Ibadan speed rail project will be completed by December 2018. Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, on 3rd May 2018 made this clear during a meeting with the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, contractors from CCECC (China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation) and other stakeholders.

“On today’s meeting, what we have achieved is that the December date for the Lagos - Ibadan standard gauge is non - negotiable. I am happy to say that both contractors and consultants have promised their commitments to meet the deadline. The challenges raised are surmountable and these are what we reviewed in the meeting” - Lai Mohammed.



A year ago
Yemi Osinbajo (then Acting President), on March 7, 2017, inaugurated the construction of Segment II of the Lagos - Ibadan Rail Project at the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) compound in Lagos state. This was in line with the Ministry of Transportation’s train route project to connect state capitals.

The project was awarded to CCECC at the cost of N458 billion. The idea was for the FG to deliver a fast and efficient rail service system between Lagos state and Ibadan (capital of Oyo state) by December the following year (2018).



What does the history book say?
The plan to construct the railway is not a new one, it was initiated first under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. In 2006, he awarded the project to CCECC at $8.3 billion dollars but was unable to execute it due to lack of funds [/b]and the expiration of his second term in office.

[b]In 2012, Goodluck Jonathan re-awarded the same project to the same contractor, with a plan to execute it in six phases. The first phase, which was the Abuja - Kaduna railway, although started by the administration of Goodluck Jonathan was completed by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Segment II, which connects Lagos to Ibadan is now under construction. Other segments, which will be constructed much later are Ibadan - Ilorin, Ilorin - Minna, Minna - Abuja and Kaduna - Kano.

Above is from your link and it is quiet clear that Jonathan only started the Abuja - Kaduna segment. Buhari completed the Abuja - Kaduna segment and started the Lagos -Ibadan segment. So, what’s your point again?

Didn't you see in the first link that Ameachi said they were building railways based on the Obasanjo master plan conceived in 2006? GEJ built the ABJ-KAD end to a point before PMB finished it.

The second link which is an article written by Tolu Ogunlesi an aide of PMB confirmed that PMB restarted and finished the LAG-IBA line conceived by OBJ so why the insults?

There's no doubt that when it comes to modernizing our railway infrastructure PMB deserves all the accolades. But if Buhari doesn't solve the horrible security crisis in the land right now no one will remember that he built railways because only the living will use the trains.

Obasanjo first initiated the standard gauge railway project, signed MoU and even did a kick off ceremony. Then came Yar’adua who cancelled the Contract.

Enter Jonathan, he signed another MoU with China but the project didn't take off because he didn't pay the necessary counterpart funds to kick start the project. So it remained on the drawing board just like the 2nd Niger Bridge till Jonathan left.

Then came Buhari and Ameachi, they paid the counterpart funds kick started the project and completed the project.

Hatred is a disease. PMB started standard gauge line while the old line is still functioning even during the construction of this standard gauge line train was active transporting goods from Kano to Lagos on the old track. Don't say what u don't know because u want defame others!
