lloydtruth: Those 24 years are not counted as over age players The age limit was raised to 24 years of age after the postponement of the tournament by a year ,so if a player was 23 last year the tournament was supposed to take place he can still take part at the tournament at 24 and not counted as an overage player 16 Likes 3 Shares |

lloydtruth:FIFA announced Friday that it will use the same age eligibility criteria for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 that it intended to use in 2020 — that players born on or after Jan. 1, 1997 are eligible, plus three over-age exceptions. FIFA chose not to move the birthdate deadline back a year after the Olympics were postponed by one year. 2 Likes |

lloydtruth: I guess it is with respect to 2020. It is a 2020 Olympics but postponed due to Covid-19. So they are still using the 2020 January calendar for selection and these players as at 2020 were under the age of 24 years. 1 Like |

Shocked to see the likes of Pedri, Unai Simon, Olmo, Oyarzabal, Pau Torres and Eric Garcia who were very active in the Euros still playing here. I hope they get extended breaks after the Olympics. 1 Like |

Switching nationality is always very complicated, Eagles’ Scout, Adelakun explains By Ayo Olu Ibidapo - July 21, 2021 712 0 Super Eagles Chief Scout, Tunde Adelakun has revealed some of the challenges facing the country in getting players of Nigerian descent to commit their full International future to Nigeria as the NFF continues to ensure the best players lace their boots for the country at all levels, AOIFootball.com reports. In an exclusive interview with AOIFootball.com, Mr Tunde who also doubles as an Assistant Coach to the NFF, also stated that the federation still has an abundance of talent spread across the globe just waiting to be scouted. “The job has not been difficult at all. I think the only difficulty is the rather good problem we always have – having to pick from an abundance of good performers in the various leagues. “That is a good problem to have, although it has its pitfalls but we try not to overthink it,” Tunde reasoned. Having already secured the international future of German-born defender Kevin Apoguma, Tunde and his scouting team now have a big task in their hands to bring home the duo of Michel Olise and Eberechi Eze, with the Eagles scout revealing a much bigger problem than what the fans think should always happen. “Nationality switch is very complicated. A player who was born in a country perhaps has been developed by the country where he or she was born to get to a point where he or she is being courted by one or two nations. It will always be difficult. “Some of them only know the UK as a home for instance. Because that’s where they grew up. So they need to be softly convinced to jump ship. Makes it more complicated when they have played at one age-grade level for the European country where they were born. They need to write a letter unequivocally stating that they want to come to play for Nigeria, and that by writing that letter, they have given up their rights to ever play for their country of birth. “That can be really scary for a young player. But they do. Then they need to prove their Nigerian citizenship. By having a passport of their own or at least for one of their parents to have a valid Nigerian passport. This proof of citizenship is key,” Tunde further revealed. He also went ahead to state that the most tasking part of the process also has to do with the other Nation’s FA to give a no-objection verification which sometimes slows the entire process and can even drag endlessly. “We also have to request from the nation’s FA (England and the home countries if the player is from the UK) asking them to give a no-objection verification to the NFF for the release of the player. Sometimes this is difficult because the said FA might still feel they potentially could do with the player’s services in the future. “It’s when we get the no-objection confirmation that we can put it all together in a package and submit to FIFA for their approval,” Mr Tunde concluded. The NFF have in the past lured players of dual citizenship to represent Nigeria, with the Eagles profiting instantly from Victor Moses who helped Nigeria to glory at the AFCON in 2013 having dumped England at that time. That move did inspire the likes of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Josh Maja, and most recently, Ovie Ejaria to switch allegiances from the UK with the switch now also reflecting in the Super Falcons with the likes of Leicester City’s Megan Ashleigh and Mowaninuola Dada of Watford joining up with the Team in their Austria camp. Well this explains it all. Unless there is something else they re not telling us. 3 Likes |

humility33: The only thing stopping him is injury and loss of form. This is someone who has played for inter Milan and Torino and is experienced in the Italian league. If he stays injury free and he is in form he will be a powerful addition to our midfield. Try him in a couple of friendlies and see what he has to offer. How many midfielders do we have in a top 5 league. He should be considered. Is it because he is not oyibo. I don't understand |

forgiveness: You and Komekn are the worst jokes I have come across online. At your age you still can't own up to your sh!t. Were you two not the ones saying it was the fault of the NFF, when everyone was clearly saying that the English FA are trying to thwart the efforts of the NFF on getting those guys? 2 Likes 1 Share |
