BREAKING NEWS!!! UMEOJI/JUDE OKEKE SURRENDER TO OYE/SOLUDO AS COURT OF APPEAL ENUGU DISMISSES THEIR APPEAL AGAINST THE JUDGMENT OF HIS LORDSHIP, HON JUSTICE C C OKAA WHICH UPHELD THE DR VICTOR OYE LED LEADERSHIP OF APGA AND THE CANDIDACY OF PROF CHARLES CHUKWUMA SOLUDO. A Special panel of the Court of Appeal sitting at Enugu and presided over by His Lordship, Hon Justice Monica Dongban Mensem, PCA today, 25th August 2021, struck out the appeal filed by Jude Okeke/Umeoji against the judgment of His Lordship, Hon Justice C C Okaa delivered on the 19th of July, 2021. The Court of Appeal further awarded a cost of #100,000.00 against Jude Okeke and in favour of Ozonkpu Dr Victor Oye Hon Justice C C Okaa had on the 19th of July, 2021 delivered a landmark judgement upholding the leadership of APGA under the Chairmanship of Ozonkpu Dr Victor Oye and held that the National Officers of APGA elected at the National Convention of APGA held in Awka, Anambra State, are still lawfully in office and thus entitled to carry out the functions of their office including the nomination of candidate for the Anambra State Governorship election. The court further held that Chief Edozie Njoku and all those purportedly elected alongside him (including Jude Okeke) as well as any other person purporting to have replaced Chief Edozie Njoku, are not National Officers of APGA and cannot lawfully perform the functions of that office. Recall that Jude Okeke had earlier appealed against the said judgment, which was struck out by the Court of Appeal, Awka Division in a well considered ruling delivered on the 2nd day of August, 2021. In a rather bizarre twist, Jude Okeke and Hon Umeoji had, through their lawyers, filed yet another application for leave to appeal against the judgment of Hon Justice C C Okaa. However, upon receipt of the Counter affidavit of Oye/Soludo in opposition to the incompetent application for leave, Okeke/Umeoji have realized the futility or impossibility of challenging the erudite judgment and decided to surrender. It was gathered that the lawyers for Umeoji/Jude Okeke didn’t want to tarnish their reputation or embarrass themselves by being involved in frivolous court cases. Consequently, the Special Panel of the Court of Appeal was faced with no further option than to dismiss the appeal. Meanwhile, the news of the dismissal of the appeal today in Enugu by the Special panel of the Court of Appeal has thrown the members of APGA and indeed Ndi Anambra into jubilation. A cross section of APGA faithfuls interviewed were of the opinion that the instant judgment of the Court of Appeal has laid to rest the issues bordering on the validly nominated candidate of APGA for the November 6 governorship election. The Court of Appeal, Kano Division had earlier made a pronouncement on the valid occupant of the office of the National Chairman of APGA and the person entitled to nominate the candidate of APGA in Anambra State. INEC, in obedience to the judgment of the Court of Appeal, has since listed Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the duly nominated candidate of APGA for the election. 4 Likes

globemoney01: I don't think Obiano performed as well as he could in relation to the states IGR! When you look at the percentage increase in isolation, you may think, 'wow....that's a huge increase mehn!' But when you consider the final quoted for 2019 (26 billion naira), and remember it's Anambra we're talking about here, then you'd realise there's still much more scope for improvement! Considering the massive commercial and industrial economy the state has, as well as its thriving real-estate sector......returning a sum little over 2 billion naira per month just wouldn't cut it! Anambra should be returning 4 billion at the minimum! It's obvious the state is yet to fashion out a workable system for comprehensive documentation of businesses and properties, as well as plug the loopholes through which tax is avoided and corruption during collection is curtailed! 5 Likes 1 Share |

PROUDIGBO:You seem not to understand he met the IGR at 10 billion.. Enugu, Ebonyi etc were all generating more IGR than Anambra before Obiano but today Anambra has overtaken them. So in essence he performed very well. The next governor can only try to double the IGR from its present statu like Obiano has done, he has even added money spinners like Airport and the Conference center which will boost the economy of the state and increase the IGR more. He didnt meet any of those on ground! 2 Likes |

PROUDIGBO: Ifeanyi Ibezi, Victor Umeh, Chinedu Obidigwe, Governor Obosi, Baby Awka etc, makes more more than Anambra State through IGR. Ha nwa bụ ndị isi Agbero in Anambra State. And the modus operandi is to sell to them, and they go out there to milk people dry, reason their boys are ready to kill. Just this year alone, more than 5 persons have died in the hands of touts IN Onitsha alone. For an instance, Nkpor Park pays 4.7m monthly, through one of the son of Alphonsus Uzoegwu, how much do you think Nkpor Park generates daily? globemoney01: That Obiano met the states IGR at a miserly 10 billion naira.....eventually growing it to 26 billion naira in 2019, says more about the woeful performance of the Obi administration than anything else! Like i said before, don't look at the percentage increase in isolation. You have to consider the state we're talking about here: Anambra....one of the leaders in commerce and industry in the country, which boasts a thriving real-estate sector as well. You know there's a problem when the states IGR returns struggle to come close to or match those of similar states like Ogun, Oyo and Kano! Anambra should be in the top 5 if we're to be honest! It's clear there's a lot of corruption and ineptitude going on in the ministry of parastatal responsible for IGR generation and collection in the state, and the Obiano gov't is either incapable or unwilling to stem the tide! 2 Likes |

PROUDIGBO: There is a reason why some people HATE the idea of the computerization of the tax register and using banks & POS system to pay directly into the state's revenue account. Cutting out these illegal middlemen & touts has not been an easy task. The more you arrest the touts, the more their godfathers recruit more touts to illegally collect "revenue" from the people on behalf of the government. Truth be said, Obiano did so well to fight the machiavellian overlords and godfathers that have been collecting and pocketing the state's IGR under the guise of being market union leaders or motor park union leaders for many decades. many of them operate in partnership with corrupt commissioners and highly placed civil servants to undercut and frustrate the state government on smooth collection and remittance of collected taxes from these hoodlums. Anambra is a very tough state because these god-father touts collecting these dues meant to be paid into the state coffers simply pocket the money and use the remaining to hire thugs that will chase away and maim any real state government tax agent coming into the markets or parks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyaIFfvatjA 5 Likes 1 Share |
